"Duke? Are you okay?" Leilani asked as she drove home, "You've been really quiet."

Duke jumped in his seat and straightened his back. "Oh, what? No, I'm fine! Perfectly fine!"

"I hope I didn't somehow make you worried by asking…don't wanna plant any seeds or anything!"

Duke choked on his spit.

"No!" Duke managed between coughs, "You didn't do nothin'!"

"Uh, okay, good!" Leilani grimaced as she glanced at him. "Anyway, I was thinking we could have spaghetti tonight. I haven't had it in a while. What do you think?"

"I could cook it if you want!" Duke replied quickly, "I ain't actually a bad cook."

"Really? Well, okay! Feel free!"

Duke grinned and nodded. It was the least he could do for her after what he did to her…and to other animals as well.

"That spaghetti was amazing!" Leilani leaned back in her chair. "It was just the right amounts of soft and hard!"

Duke slowly chuckled. "Uh, yeah. Thanks."

Duke stared at Leilani's relaxed, content face. Pressure and tension built inside him.

"You know, I wanna tell you this, since we've gotten to know each other, and you've been pretty nice to me…after I reported the Daring Do incident, I was told I should get a pregnancy test, since, you know, neither of us remember anything from when we got sprayed to the morning. It came back negative, but I gotta say…if it came back positive, I think I'd be okay with that! I mean, we don't know each other that well, but I think…maybe we could try to make this work?"

Duke's eyes pooled with tears. He cried out and slammed his face down on the table.

"Duke?" Leilani got up and put a paw on his back. "What's wrong?"

Duke sat up and covered his eyes. "This might be my fault!"

"Wait, what do you mean?"

"A while back, I was told to deliver some weird lookin' seeds, but they wouldn't tell me what they were for, and I saw those same seeds on the news on T.V. in the mailroom, and they said on the news that they were Daring Do seeds! I'm so sorry!"

"Oh."

Duke felt Leilani take her paw off of him. He looked back and saw her briskly walk to her room and close the door. "Leilani?"

Soon after, Leilani swung the door open. She was dressed in all black, from her beanie to her combat boots. "Come on, let's go!"

"Wait, where?" Duke got up from his seat.

"We're gonna go find whoever's behind this!"
