"So…all this stuff is for animals to turn into hybrids?" Duke exclaimed.

"Shhh!" Leilani frantically tapped her finger to her lips.

Duke's ears drooped as he looked at the startled faces in front of him. "Uhh…how awesome is that? Why didn't any of you tell us about the mission before?" Duke grinned and nodded.

Raymond shrugged. "I personally assumed you knew."

Raymond and the other animals turned back to their work.

"We shoulda known these plants weren't created just for some sorta prank. Let's go to the cops!" Duke stood up. "Man, that felt weird comin' outta my mouth."

"No!" Leilani grabbed Duke's arm. "If we leave now, we're going to look suspicious! Let's just leave after we finish our work. Then we can go to the police."

Duke slowly sat back down. "Yeah, I guess you're right." He took a few seeds from a packet and put them in his pocket. "Proof, ya know."

Leilani nodded.

The Zootopia Police Department had a fair amount of activity when Leilani and Duke walked in. Nothing visibly dramatic. Just cops talking to each other or walking by, along with a few citizens speaking to cops.

"Wow. It feels kinda good to be in here because of something someone else did." Duke commented as his eyes wandered around the spacious place.

"Oh! There's that cheetah guy!" Leilani pointed to a chubby cheetah at a desk in front of them. He giggled at his phone while he chomped on a pink donut. "I saw him on the news and when I came here to report our Daring Do incident!"

"Clawhauser? Oh, yeah. I know him kinda well. He always would tell me to have a nice day every time I left this place."

"Heh, sounds like him, from what I've seen."

The cheetah gasped as he saw the weasels approaching. "Well, if it isn't the accidental newlyweds! How are you guys?" Clawhauser's eyes rested on Leilani. "Laila, right?"

"Leilani. Hi, Clawhauser! We actually have something to—"

"—Oh, by the way, what were the results of your pregnancy test?" Clawhauser grinned and rested his face in his paws. He made a small squeal.

"Well, uh, negative, but we actually have something to—"

"Oh, shoot. Well, better luck next time!" Clawhauser didn't notice Duke raise his eyebrow. "Anyway, did you hear we recently hired our first fox?"

"We found where Daring Do is comin' from!" Duke blurted out.

Clawhauser's mouth slowly dropped open. "No, way! What? That is awesome! We gotta tell Chief!" Clawhauser got up from his seat. "He's not doing anything right now, so I know his office is open! Come on, weasels!"

Leilani and Duke exchanged excited looks before they followed the cheetah.

"Chief Bogo!" Clawhauser threw the door open.

The bulky buffalo looked up from his book and took his glasses off. "Clawhauser?"

"These weasels found where Daring Do is coming from!"

Chief Bogo tilted his head to look at the tense weasels behind Clawhauser.

Leilani noticed the chief's eyes momentarily widen when he saw Duke.

Chief Bogo stood up. He raised his eyebrows. "Ah, Weaselton. We meet again."

Duke held his paws up. "Yeah, uh, look, Chief, I know we've had our issues, but we really got somethin' ta—"

Chief Bogo held up a hoof. "I'm aware of that. I also know that a witness is a witness, and you cannot legally be treated any differently if you know something. So, you two know where this plant is coming from?"

"Yes, sir!" Leilani stepped forward. "There's this lab/garden thing in Meadowlands where this geep named 'PJ' is the boss!"

"Pardon me, a what?"

"A geep? What's a geep?" asked Clawhauser.

"Half-goat, half-sheep. She's trying to create plants that'll be able to temporarily turn animals into hybrids so they can empathize with hybrids and know what they go through. There's this weird glowing goo stuff in her tent! She calls Daring Do, 'Empathy!'"

Chief Bogo's eyes met Clawhauser's. Neither said a word.

"Well, thank you for telling us." Chief Bogo made some notes on a notepad. He looked back up at Leilani. "Do you know this PJ's last name?"

"Uh, well, come to think of it, I never learned her last name! I do know that 'PJ' stands for 'Paula Junior.'"

"Wait!" Duke exclaimed, "Travis said that he looked her up and saw that her birth was announced in the news about twenty-five years ago!" Duke's ears drooped. "She's younger than me and is runnin' a business with science and smart stuff."

Chief Bogo allowed a chuckle to slip as wrote some more. "Her line of work isn't exactly a good life goal, Weaselton." He turned to his computer and typed. "Ah. There she is. Paula Roseanne Woolman Jr. Found said article about her birth, along with her social media accounts. Can either of you write down the address of this company's headquarters?"

Duke grimaced. "Well, I don't think it's got an address, but we can show you where it is. We took a train to get there, and it's in this wide open space."

"Very well. Let's go." Chief Bogo walked to the door. "These plants have been a thorn in our side long enough."

Duke burst out laughing. "Thorn! Plants!"

"Oh yeah!" Clawhauser added, "Good one, chief!"

Chief Bogo rolled his eyes. "Ugh. Puns. That one was unintentional.'"

Leilani chuckled. "Yeah, I was gonna say, that seemed pretty unlike you, even though I barely know you."
