"Woah, this is so cool."
Summer turned to find the younger version of her father walking around Springdale, taking in all the sights and everything that has changed. She just smiled at him, everyone else from the Yo-kai Detective Agency were just staring at him. "You think it's a good idea to bring him along?" Tate leaned in, looking back at the boy and his Yo-kai companions, who were taking in the sights. "Well, we can't just leave him in the park. He has no place to go." Summer told her little brother, the two looked back as the young boy was looking through the window of a convenience store, watching as someone was buying a microwave dinner. "I don't think much has changed, at least that's what the future you said." Summer twirled her braid on her finger. The young boy looked at her, "Are you kidding, it feels so new!" He said, before looking at the car. "Look how futuristic that looks!" Nate said, pointing to the car. "It's… it's a car." Tate looked at the car, a drop of sweat rolling down his head. "Yeah, but it looks so shiny and new! Can it fly?" Nate asked, looking at his children. "Sorry dad, no flying cars." Summer said, waving her hands. Nate felt a little weird, he was still twelve, not really a father. "Weren't you calling me by my actual name before?" Nate asked, with Summer scratching the back of her head. "Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't know if you would feel weird about calling you 'dad' or 'father'" Summer chuckled. "Just call me Nate, I'm not old enough to be your father yet." Nate said, smiling. While this conversation was happening, a truck had passed by. Jibanyan watched another car zoom by.
"Do they have trucks in the future?"
Summer looked at the past Jibanyan, who was looking at the road with literal fire in his eyes. "Yeah… why?" she asked. The red cat looked both ways as a truck was coming his way. "Time to test my training on these trucks." Jibanyan stepped into the road. "Training?" she asked, the detective agency all looked at the past Jibanyan with curiosity. "He's been training to be able to destroy trucks ever since he became a Yo-kai." The Yo-Kai Watch user of the past said. "This'll be fun." The Past Whisper said, the Yo-kai Detective Agency watched as Jibanyan jumped into the air. "TAKE THIS STUPID TRUCK! PAWS OF FURY!" Jibanyan said, delivering a fury of punches at the truck. "... that's what he does?" Bruno said, Isabelle smiled. "You can do it! We believe in you!" she said, Jibanyan continued to punch the truck before his paw cracked and he let out a loud yell in pain. It was almost like it was slow motion before the truck collided with Jibanyan and knocked him into orbit.
"EYE OF THE TIGER!"
"Ow…" Tate said, a drop of sweat rolling down his cheek. "Is… is he going to be okay?" Cole asked. Nate sighed, "This always happens, he'll be fine." Whisper sighed, before looking at Nate. "Considering this is the future, he may not be able to find his way back here." Whisper said. "I got this." Nate dug into his pocket and pulled out a medal. "What's… what's that?" Summer asked, peering over the shoulder of her younger father. "It's a… Yo-kai Medal, you don't have those?" Nate asked, Summer shook her head. "We have Keystones, Sacred Armory, Celestial Disks, but not medals." Nate and Whisper blinked. "Celestial Di… I'll get back to you on that." Nate said, a drop of sweat rolling down his head. He struck his stance and showed off the medal. Summer and the others stared at it intensely, it resembled a poker chip, but pink. There was a picture of Jibanyan with many different bars of chocolate around him. "Come on out my friend!" Nate said before he tossed the medal high into the air. "Calling Jibanyan!" The medal soared through the air before landing back down in Nate's hand. "Yo-kai Medal, do your thing!" Nate slid the coin into his watch. The Yo-kai Detective Agency stumbled back as the watch burst out a bright pink light, following pink glowing runes circling around the bright pink light. The watch let out the sound of a xylophone as a loud announcer said "IT'S TIME FOR THE CHARMING TRIBE!" Summer watched in awe, it was so colorful. "SUSHI ROULETTE!" There was a picture of a piece of sushi before the past Jibanyan showed up, dancing on the face of the watch. He was surrounded by cheerleaders dancing as well while a quirky song played. "GO CHARMING! GO CHARMING! WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT? YEAH!" It then cuts to Jibanyan approaching the sushi and picking it up. "YOU WILL WIN, WE ALWAYS WIN! CAUSE WE'RE CHARMING!" The song ended just as Jibanyan plopped the entire sushi in his mouth. There was some sort of winning noise as Jibanyan's eyes lit up. The announcer returned to say "PREMIUM FAT TUNA!" an orchestra played as Jibanyan hopped around the face of the watch laughing before striking a pose and yelling "Jibanyan!" followed by the orchestra making a win sound, like they were on a game show. "Owchie…" Jibanyan said, falling to the ground. "That was… so cool!" Both Summer and Bruno said, getting up close and personal with Nate, who simply leaned back. "It's… it's just a summoning, I bet you guys do that all the time." Nate said, scratching his cheek.
"Yeah. But it's not something like a game show. That was… magical." Bruno said, the stars still in his eyes. "I'll admit… it was pretty." Tate said, looking the other way while he talked. "Do you always do that?" Cole asked, looking down at the past Jibanyan, who glowed briefly and all of his injuries were healed. "Every day. I train to become powerful enough to beat trucks so that when I come back as a regular cat, I can be with Amy again and I can make sure what happened doesn't happen again." Past Jibanyan said, holding on to the dear memory. "I like your enthusiasm little me." Jibanyan said, he put a paw on the shoulder of the smaller him, who simply just said "Nyan." in response. As Jibanyan walked into the road of another truck, he waited. As the truck got closer, he dipped into his stomach band and came out as his Shadowside form. He then wound up for a punch and punched the truck at full force, causing the windshield and the windows to break and for the front to be destroyed. The driver was unharmed, and he got out of the truck screaming. "WOAH!" Nate and Whisper screamed as Jibanyan looked on with shock. The future Jibanyan went back to his Lightside form, dipping his hands into his stomach band as if they were pockets. Jibanyan simply bowed to his future self. "Teach me your ways, oh wise one." Jibanyan said. "That was awesome!" Nate said, looking down at the future version of his cat companion, who simply scoffed and smiled. "It's really just a workout for me." The Future Jibanyan said, his dark voice still present.
"Oh hey, I forgot to ask." Tate piped up, with everyone's eyes falling on him. He looked at his younger father and said "Where are you going to stay? You're kind of trapped here now." He asked. "That's a really good question actually. I didn't think about it." Nate placed his hands behind his head. "Well, obviously with us." Summer said, Tate just gave her a look. "Did you just say that out loud?" he asked with a drop of sweat rolling down the back of his head. "We can't stay with you, we would be risking Nate seeing his future self, which could cause all of space and time to collapse and then you two won't exist." Whisper said, pointing at the two Adams children. "You know this how?" The girl with the braids asked. "It's a law in every time travel movie ever." Whisper said with a smile. "He'll stay with me!" Bruno said, sliding into the picture. He looked at Nate with stars in his eyes. "You need to meet my Grandma, she'll be head over heels to see you." Bruno said. "G-Grandma?" Nate asked, with Jibanyan and Whisper close to him. What was this guy going on about?
30 years prior:
It had only been a day and now Katie realized that something was wrong with Nate.
The last time he acted so weird was one time in school, and that was maybe last year. Now he was acting like this again and he kept bringing this friend around, Hailey Anne Thomas. Hailey wasn't a bad person to hang out around, it was just weird seeing a girl from the grade below hanging out with them, at least that was how Alex put it. What bugged Katie was that Hailey was basically the new Nate, always talking with herself. She didn't even try to hide it, she would just start a conversation with the air. When asked by anyone there, she would just brush it off as nothing and quickly change topics. No one but her seemed to mind, they just went on with talking about whatever they were talking about. The friend group never paid much attention to Nate before, but they never ignored him. He was just so… average. But Katie just couldn't help but feel worried for her friend, Nate had been her friend for as long as she could remember. From what her memory served, ever since he got that watch, weird and unusual things have been happening. Things growing to large sizes, rumors spreading faster than butter, even little things like ice cream swirls going missing. Katie didn't let it bother her before because why would it? It was nothing to be bothered by, but with Nate acting so weird and his friend Hailey being a weirdo as well, it just felt… off.
Today, they were going to meet up at the museum, just Katie and Nate alone. It wasn't like a date or anything, moreso a little question and answer. Katie had still been searching for the character that he talked about in the park that one time. "Jibanyan", no results appeared on her phone and when she tried to use the computer, that seemed to yield no results either. No video games about cats named Jibanyan were showing up. So she thought that she could use this time to ask Nate about slipped on her shoes and walked out the door, saying goodbye to her parents on the way out. Once she was out of her house, she made her way to the museum. While it was a pretty far walk, Nate was going to meet up with her at some point. As she walked, she couldn't help but think about the past and how many weird occurrences happened, during Christmas time, during school. It was with her friends, or random kids, or the teacher. It didn't have meaning at first, but then a small school club was formed about these happenings called the Ghost Club. Two girls in her class named Lina and Zoey began to make documents about the happenings around town and school, saying this ran much deeper than they thought and all that. No one paid any mind, even Katie. She just thought that they were pretending, but Lina and especially Zoey, seemed serious. Maybe she should do her own little investigation.
As Katie rounded the corner, she noticed Nate talking with that friend of his, Hailey. She was at first a little mad because Nate broke the rule of only the two of them, but then she realized that having Hailey here could actually help out as well. Since she was seemingly talking with nothing a few times, maybe she could also ask her a few questions. "Hey Nate!" she ran over to her friend. Nate looked back at Hailey, who simply gave a sound nod. "Hey Katie." Nate said, giving a strained smile. "You wanna get going? The museum isn't that far from here." The ponytailed girl said, Nate nodded, standing up. "Well, I better get going, I think I need to pick up my brother from a baseball game or something." Hailey said, waving goodbye. "Wait, Hailey." Katie said, the purple haired girl turned back. "What's up?" she asked, her eyes curious behind her glasses. "Uh, I think…" Katie trailed off, she needed to find some way to keep Hailey around. What did she like that was going to be in a museum? "I think… I think there's an anime exhibit?" she questioned. Katie didn't exactly know anything about Hailey other than she was in a grade below them and that she regularly talked to herself for no reason. She didn't think this was going t-
"WELL WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?!"
Katie blinked, having Hailey's arm wrapped around her head as well as her arm wrapped around Nate's head. "Let's go!" the girl said. Usapyon frowned, rubbing the side of his helmet in dismay. "If anythings getting through that young lady's head, it was bound to be anime." he sighed, following after the three humans. "I sense a trap." a robotic voice said, the spacesuit wearing otter turned, looking at Robonyan F with a quizzical look. Robonyan F was supposedly the far future version of Jibanyan, who got turned into Robonyan… who then got turned into Robonyan F. Robonyan F was shaped to be like Jibanyan, that being a cat with two tails that were on fire. The robot replicated the cat very well in terms of shape, even having his own metallic stomach band and his own version of Jibanyan's bell around his neck, although the "bell" here was just a voice changer. The coloring on Robonyan was off, instead of having red and white fur, one side of Robonyan was a dark blue while the other side was pure white. The fire on the two tails was metallic, being there for decoration and accuracy to the original Jibanyan. Light blue rims were around the joints of the body, with a silver face, silver hands, and silver feet. "Trap? What are you on about?" Usapyon asked, the robot cat looked at him. "The way she acted, the lie detector went off." Usapyon said. "You have a lie detector built in there somewhere?" Usapyon said, his eyes closed and a drop of sweat rolling down his head. "In the future, lying is illegal." the robot said bluntly. Usapyon sighed, "Won't stop her either way. C'mon." Usapyon walked after the three humans, well, two. Mimikin was impersonating Nate so that everyone didn't lose their minds over Nate suddenly up and disappearing. In the background, Hailey and Usapyon have been investigating and asking many Yo-kai about what has been going on, with no one knowing what was going on.
It was a tough case, even for Hapyon detective agency. But they kept going, Nate was their friend after all, and Mimikin couldn't keep being Nate forever. It was just… taking a lot more time than they thought. Whenever they weren't with "Nate" or the other friends of his, they were talking with various Yo-kai about the weird door. Not a single Yo-kai had ever heard of it, now all of a sudden people are looking around the stone door wondering where the Legendary Yo-kai Master went too. It was getting bad and Usapyon didn't know what to do about it. Every lead was nothing but dead ends or just grasping at straws. The only thing to do next was to try and talk to Lord Enma about this, he must know something. But getting to him would be next to impossible without someone like Nate helping. He could try bringing Hailey, but she would mess something up knowing her… maybe. Usapyon didn't know what to do, he had better chances bringing Hailey with her to talk with Lord Enma about what is going on but who would know if she would take things seriously. Usapyon cared for Hailey Anne, he really did. While he did a terrible job at showing it, he cared for her and her safety. It's just… she had a tendency to be a bit… She had a love for all things sci-fi. She always geeked out when she saw Lord Enma, talking about his costume, how cool he was. She had very little restraint on a lot of things in the world, if that made sense. She could also be a bit annoying at times, no doubt about that. She was practically talking Katie's ear off right now about Sailor Cuties.
"I reckon she's going to be mighty mad at Katie when she finds out this be a big ruse." Usapyon said, placing his hands behind his helmet. "Optimal disappointment levels will be… one hundred percent." Robonyan F said, floating forward the same speed as the Yo-kai from the Shady Tribe was walking. Hailey heard this and glared behind her shoulder at the two. "She would never lie! Katie is pure." Hailey exclaimed. "KEEP YOUR VOICE DOWN!" Usapyon yelled.
"Who's behind here?" Katie turned to look but Hailey kept her head on the straight and narrow. "OH! I WAS JUST TALKING OUT LOUD! BAD THOUGHTS IS ALL!" Hailey began to laugh, leaping in front of the other two and laughing. Katie frowned as Nate began to laugh with the purple haired girl. She looked behind her shoulder quickly to find no one standing there. She squinted, "A-Anyway, I'm not lying, there really is an anime exhibit." Katie said, scratching the back of her head. She hated lying, it was taking every fiber of her being not to tell Hailey the truth and there was no anime exhibit. Hailey didn't seem to care much, returning to her enthusiastic appearance. As Katie followed the purple haired girl, she looked over at her friend, weirdly enough, he wasn't talking to himself either, if at all. Maybe… maybe this was all a mistake and she was looking really far into this. Maybe he was actually telling the truth rather than keeping a big secret. That was when she noticed something, the girl with the ponytail let out an audible gasp and looked down at Nate's wrist. His watch, the thing that she had always practically seen him with, was missing from his wrist. "What happened to your watch Nate?" she asked, curious about what had happened. Nate turned to her and looked down at his wrist. "Oh… uh, it's over in Blossom Heights, at the watch shop." he responded, a drop of sweat on his cheek. "I didn't know there was a watch shop over at Blossom Heights." Katie said, it was a place she had rarely seen or been to, aside from drives up there with her parents for hiking or the shopping center.
"WHAT!?"
Katie and Nate turned to find Hailey on her knees looking over at the museum, there were no signs of an anime exhibit anywhere. The bespectacled girl turned to Katie with tears in her eyes. "How could you lie to me… I thought you were pure?" Hailey asked, Usapyon crossed his arms. "Told ya." he simply said, Hailey began to cry in disappointment as Robonyan F floated to the ground. "Should she be punished according to the laws of the future?" Robonyan F said. Usapyon looked at the robot. "What are you on about now?" Usapyon said. Robonyan F turned his head to the girl. "In the future, liars are public enemy number one. Anyone caught lying is given severe punishment, mainly death." Robonyan F said, hitting his chest with his hand. "WHAT IN TARNATION IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!" Usapyon said, Hailey stopped crying and looked over in shock. "Over a little lie?" she asked. "We take all kinds of crime very seriously in the future." Robonyan F said. "Well… I lie about talking to you guys, does that make me a threat to society?"
"Yes, indeed."
Hailey had a drop of sweat roll down her head as a few strands of her hair began to fly out. "You and Nate have lied a lot. I deem you threats of the future." Robonyan F said. Hailey had multiple drops of sweat rolling down her face. "It sounds like you're making this up on the fly, dani." Usapyon said, a drop of sweat rolling down his head. "I would never lie to you. I am programmed to always tell the truth." Robonyan F said. "Really, then tell us, what exactly happened during that time with B3-NK1." Usapyon said. Robonyan had a bright red blush on his face. "Uhhhhhhhh…" he said. "Please tell me this isn't just padding for something really stupid." Usapyon said.
"Hailey…"
Katie watched as Hailey jumped and started making weird hand poses again, stuttering over her words and coming up with her own lie. She furrowed her eyebrows and walked in the middle between Hailey and Nate. "What is going on with the two of you?" she asked, stomping her foot on the ground. "Wh-what do you mean?" Hailey asked, rubbing the back of her head. "Don't ask that! I just watched you talk to the air, both of you seem to do that. What's gotten into the two of you?" Katie asked. "I… I really don't know what you're talking about." Nate said, also scratching the back of his head. Katie sighed, they were going to keep denying it, weren't they? If she was going to get answers from them, she needed a different approach. "Forget the museum, I need to go somewhere." she said walking off. "Katie!" Nate called out to her, but she ignored it. She wasn't going to get the answers from them, they were stubborn about it. She needed a different approach, and she knew just where to find it.
30 years later:
"Nyice story lady, too bad it was full of holes."
Nate turned to his cat companion, munching on a bar of chocolate as he laid in the corner of the room. "Holes?" Bruno asked. "Yep, there are a few holes in that story, nyan." Jibanyan said, taking a bite out of the chocolate bar. "Enlighten us then, what are these holes?" Bruno asked. Jibanyan opened up an eye, "Well for starters, they talk only of a boy who could see Yo-kai, but they don't mention the others." Jibanyan said. "Others?" Both Bruno and his Grandmother looked over to the cat Yo-kai of the past. Jibanyan nodded, standing up. "Yep, there were a few others that could see Yo-kai. Some of them had the Yo-kai Watch, others didn't, nyan." Jibanyan said, raising his paw. "So lady, where is the talk of Hailey Anne Thomas? Or Jerry, or the most important of all, my dear sweet Fiona or Next HarMEOWny?" Jibanyan asked, his eyes turned to hearts and his cheeks grew a bit red. "He does make a point, even if it's about that girl band." Whisper said, a drop of sweat rolling down the side of his head. "Yeah… and I don't think Jerry counts considering… yeah." Nate trailed off. "Point two, why are we so different, and how come I can't change into my Shadowside form in the past?" Jibanyan said, and then pointed outside over to Komasan, who was doing his business by the bushes. "And what happened to him, nyan? No really, what happened?" Jibanyan asked. "That's a fair point, I knew he was a dog, but not an actual dog." Nate looked out to see Komasan gliding across the ground to the steps.
"Third point, if all the Yo-kai Watches were destroyed, then what's this doing around still?" Jibanyan grabbed Summer's arm and showed off her watch. Mitsue frowned at the cat Yo-kai, "Obviously they just forgot about it, or was locked away with Whisper." she said, the past Jibanyan didn't seem to take that for an answer. "I don't buy it, nyan." Jibanyan said, before taking a look at the watch. "This doesn't even look like a watch, it looks like a hunk of plastic on a wristband, you expect me to believe this was made by some ancient Egyptian Tribe, nyan?" Jibanyan poked the watch with his paw. "ENOUGH OF YOU!" Mitsue hit him with her stick. "OWIE!" Jibanyan stumbled back towards Nate and Whisper. "He does bring up some points, I just… I can't believe I will forget you guys." Nate stepped away and looked at Whisper and Jibanyan. "Oh Nyate, I could never forget you!" Jibanyan put a paw on his chest and took a triumphant pose. "Neither could I, our friendship means everything to me." Whisper said, tears in his eyes. Summer watched as the three looked at each other and turned back to her versions of Jibanyan and Whisper. "Are you sure, absolutely sure, you don't know that guy?" she asked them. "Never met him in my life." Whisper crossed his arms. "Seems forgettable honestly." Jibanyan said. Both the past versions of Jibanyan and Whisper looked at their future counterparts. "Some unforgettable bond I made with you." Nate said, growling under his breath while the other two began to plead for forgiveness. "Well, believe us or not, think of this place as your home." Mitsue said. "Thank you ma'am." Nate said with a smile, Mitsue smiled back. "It is an honor, Legendary Yo-kai Master, we are here to serve you." the grandmother said. "Oh yeah, that's right! Where were you when there was a giant floating whale in the sky?" Jibanyan popped in.
"Floating whale… what?"
A/N: Lucky enough to get a new chapter out of this before the Ruin DLC drops cause that will be taking up most of my time for a while haha! I appreciate all the support that people have given, with even just reading the story and not reviewing. I do hope that I'm doing a good job, I thought I would get a ton of complaints for my writing style and how I should change it, which would have been fair. I'm always striving to improve with each story that I make, and this being one of them. A bit of a late post but I appreciate getting this done, I'll be working on the next chapter when I can while also working on a story that I might not share. It's Fnaf Related, but it's a very personal project of mine, a really big story that I want to keep to myself. I think the next chapter will actually be an adaptation of a Shadowside episode, albeit with Nate and the gang around for the fun. It'll be fun to write that up as well as getting to Springdale. Still no Forever Friends, mainly because their time to show up will be later, and I hope it's worth it because I am excited to get there. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you all have a good day/night!
