The Quinx of Change
Summary: After a year apart, Hide finally reunites with his best friend. However, it quickly comes to his mind that his best friend is not the person he used to be. Alongside meeting what appears to be his new friends and members, Hide has a lot of catching up to do if he wants to blend in.
Chateau (2nd Floor)
It was him. Hide could recognize him. He was a bit different from when he last saw him, but it was him.
"Kaneki..." Hide's thought immediately went to, but he quickly remembered his conditions with Arima, and considering the guy was right next to him, he knew he one wrong word and he would be in trouble.
He also looked around and spotted some other individuals. Four other individuals, each with their own unique traits, the most notable being their different hair colours. Orange, purple, blue, and green, they clearly were a unique group.
Quickly realizing he was being stared at, Hide felt a bit small. Since he was not used to interacting with anyone ever since, plus with the chance that they may recognize him as the guy from Cochlea, he felt a bit nervous. Perhaps it was just because he was the notorious guy from Cochlea, or maybe even the fact that he hasn't even talked or communicated with others in quite the time.
Ironically enough, it was Arima, who had just finished moving his boxes, did he start the interaction, "Sorry for the intrusion, but your new member has been discharged earlier than expected. Quinx Squad, this is Hideyoshi Nagachika, the newest member of the Quinx Squad."
Hide raised his hand up, waving in a slight wave, not really knowing what to say at this point. He truly was at a loss regarding what to say.
To his surprise, the blue-haired, short girl was the first to approach Hide, who was a bit tense, and so was understandably confused. though, he quickly got his brain moving, and knew that she might be one of those energetic girls.
"Hello Hideyoshi! I didn't know we were getting a new member!" The girl excitedly exclaimed, which made Hide scratch his head. This girl clearly was energetic, kind of like him, especially in his younger years.
"Um, hello, what's your name?" He asked, and the girl smiled.
"Saiko Yonebayashi. This-" She pointed to the rest of the group. "These are Kuki Urie, Tooru Mutski, Ginshi Shirazu, and Haise Sasaki." She exclaimed, pointing from left to right, in Hide's view.
"I see, it's nice to meet you all." Hide said at last.
To Hide's surprise they all smiled, seemingly not aware of his stint in Cochlea. However, he was thankful for, but knew it they were strongly associated with the investigators, they were eventually going to find out.
And so, he did not want to really interact with them in that scenario. He quickly realized there was no point in getting to know them. Once they found out about his past in Cochlea, it would go downhill from there. What if they try and kick him out? Where would be go?
Therefore, Hide decided to quickly end this conversation, "Anyways, I'm kind of tired, so I'm going upstairs in my room for the night. Take care." He simply stated, before he proceeded to go upstairs.
He figured that Arima could explain what they needed to go, as he did not really know what to say. He heard the sounds of them saying good night to him, which made him feel slightly guilty. They did seem nice.
Hide sighed, reaching his room, after seeing the boxes Arima had brought up for him. He looked around and saw a room that was much nicer than the room down in Cochlea. It was very different, in good ways.
The abstract colours, the very nice and comfy bed, the large room. It was relatively empty, but Hide knew he would be allowed to decorate it the way he wants to.
Sighing, he brought out his headphones, and with his phone, that he had to pay, he listened to some more music, closing his eyes.
He didn't know what he was to do at this point now. He had made it to the Quinx Squad, and seemingly completed Arima's terms and conditions. Now what?
A sudden knock on his door, made him get up.
Opening his door, he was mildly shocked to see his best friend, in front of him. Looking at Hide as if he was anonymous, the look alone made Hide realize the sheer reality of what Arima had said.
His best friend couldn't remember him at all, and Hide could do nothing but let him go. "Is there anything you need?" Hide asked confused, and watched as the white-haired investigator simply looked at what appeared to be his notebook.
"So, I assume you had the Quinx surgery earlier this week?" He asked, and Hide flinched slightly at the stoic and serious tone he had.
"Uh, yeah, I was just discharged earlier today, so I'm kind of weak." Hide scratched his head, clearly feeling a bit nervous and uncomfortable with his own mind. Specifically how this was supposed to be Kaneki, but it was clear that he was acting much different than how Kaneki would act.
He simply watched as he looked down at his notes, Hide noticing some strands of black hair alongside his white. Perhaps his hair was turning back to its normal colour?
"I see, so from what information I had gathered, you have been given an ukaku kakahou." Haise explained.
Hide simply nodded, watching as his amnesiac best friend look at him like no other special person. When in reality, he was his best friend. He just didn't know.
"Okay, so tomorrow we will start some training. Do not worry about the rest, as I'll try and start with you individually, before we bring you with the rest." He simply stated, and Hide silently thanked that.
While the other members were definitely nice, he did not want to get to know him in the event that they find out about it.
Watching his best friend leave without much of a goodbye did somewhat hurt Hide. It really hurt, he thought, but continued to tell himself that it wasn't his fault.
He was amnesiac, without a trace of what he was like beforehand. He couldn't pin the blame on him at all, if anything it made him feel sorry for Kaneki. It made his story even more tragic.
Hide sighed, before beginning to lie down. However, before he could fall asleep again, he was interrupted by another knock. Thinking it maybe was Kaneki after this, he decided to open the door, thinking he would see white hair.
Instead, all he saw was green hair, and an average-built boy in front of him. Hide raised an eyebrow, trying to remember the name of the boy.
"Mutsuki?" He asked, more of confirming if he got the name correct or not.
The boy shook his head, "You don't have to call me Mutsuki, just call me Tooru."
"Okay, is there anything you need?" He asked, and the boy brought something out.
It was here did Hide realize it was food. "You probably didn't eat any dinner, so I thought I'd bring some food for you."
Hide looked at Tooru in shock and shame. Here he was trying to avoid these people as much as possible, but also here was a person who was thoughtful enough to bring him some food.
Hide sighed, before giving a smile, "I appreciate that, thank you Tooru." He said with a small smile. Taking the small tray, he had been given by the green-haired boy.
"It's no problem, you seemed a bit uncomfortable earlier, and I figured that you were not going to come back down, so I thought I'd bring some food in for you at least for today." Tooru stated.
Hide scratched his head, truly surprised at the genuineness of the act. "Thanks again, that was nice of you."
The boy simple smiled before leaving Hide with a tray of food. To his shock it was a burger from Big Girl.
"How did they get this?" He simply asked in shock, he thought they had made it, but it really did look like it. Maybe they did make it, and took inspiration from there, he wasn't sure.
Taking a bite of the burger, Hide got a bit teary, savoring the taste, considering the fact that it had been almost a year since he had one. He seriously wanted to go back for the food. The food in Cochlea was less than stellar, subpar at best, and eating delicious food for the first time in a while made Hide realize how much he truly was missing out. It was a long time. Heck, he completely forgot about his birthday. He had missed his birthday, spending it alone in Cochlea, probably getting his arm poked by another needle to test his fluctuating rc cell count.
After he had finished the burger, he noticed the empty tray, and realized he would have to go down and put it to wash. Hide simply shrugged, not really caring. It was a bit late, so the individuals probably went up to their own room.
So, without much hesitation, Hide got up from the table where he ate, and proceeded to head down towards the kitchen, expecting no one to be there.
Of course, sometimes things don't go your way, and he was mildly shocked to see the same green-haired boy. Cleaning up the sink with most of the plates.
The boy seemed to have heard Hide come down, because the boy simply stared at him, a small smile on his face.
"Oh sorry." Hide chuckled nervously, "I didn't know you were still down here."
"It's fine, I'm usually down here cleaning the utensils and stuff." Tooru stated, in a nonchalant tone.
Hide simply put the tray down next to the plates, watching Tooru wash and clean the plates, looking over and watching in a bit of interest.
"You seem really experienced in this." Hide commented and Tooru continued the tasks.
"Yeah, I've been doing it for quite a bit." The boy simple stated.
Hide looked on, noting the small details, such as the way his hands were neatly washing.
"It's very neat, did you do this when you were young?" Hide asked, and noticed the boy flinched a bit.
"Um, yeah, I guess you could say that." Tooru mentioned offhandedly.
Hide nodded in understanding, "That's cool, I've tried once before I broke a couple of dishes a bit afterwards. I mean I sort of had to learn."
Tooru looked on in confusion, "Why is that?"
Hide shrugged, "Had no one to really take care of me." He mentioned, unaware of the look Tooru had given him.
"What do you mean, no one to take care of you?" He asked in confusion, and Hide could tell from that tone, that Tooru probably still had his parents with him.
Hide sighed. He told himself he wouldn't interact with the Quinx Squad too much, as his past would eventually resurface as he would be ostracized by them. It wasn't a good look for them, and he knew it, so he didn't want to interact with them too much. Yet here he was, interacting with someone already.
"It's something I really don't want to talk about. Essentially my remaining guardian is just a financial advisor for me. Father's gone so had to work hard.." Hide stated, not noticing the saddened look Tooru was giving him.
"That's-" Tooru started, briefly stopping his cleaning before Hide interrupted.
"It's sad, yeah, but I've gotten over it." Hide answered quickly.
"Where did your dad go?" Tooru asked.
"Killed by ghouls during a mission. Apparently, he managed to kill seven before he bled out." Hide stated. In truth, he was a bit saddened at his father's death, but considering it was over a decade ago, he had time to cope, and find his own way forward.
"Wait, your father was a CCG investigator?" He asked, and Hide nodded.
Tooru simply looked on, "Imagine what your father would think now, spending time in Cochlea."
That remake made Hide flinch noticeably, looking at a smirking Tooru. He didn't really know what to say.
So, they already knew? Well, that was embarrassing. Why did they accept him then? Why is he here? He should've just left the CCG entirely, not caring if a by standing ghoul were to kill him.
"Yeah, that was me, spent a year in Cochlea, but it wasn't because I was arrested, I'm clean of that record now." Hide stated.
Tooru simply shrugged, "Well considering that, it must've been a huge misunderstanding, we do not really hold it against you or anything."
Hide mildly sighed hearing that, "Thanks, Arima himself was the one who let me free, so I have him to thank. I'm pretty sure since the famed CCG reaper was the one to let me free, no one will really stand in his way of decisions."
Tooru simply nodded in understanding, "I see, well yeah, even with it the Quinx Squad accepts you, after all we are no strangers to discrimination and ostracization, so we can understand your image, its somewhat misunderstood."
Hide smiled at that, "That's really refreshing actually, I guess I was nervous you would be like them, whispering and rumours and all of that."
Tooru shrugged, "They just think their above us because of their experience and the fact that we went through a surgery, that's it."
Hide then nodded, "So what type of kagune do you have?" Hide asked curiously.
Tooru, who had begun to rewash the dishes he temporarily stopped, offhandedly mentioned, "Bikaku."
Hide nodded, "The one at the tailbone, that's cool." He replied.
"It's okay, what about you?" Tooru asked.
"Ukaku, though I haven't had any experience with actually bringing it out, do you know what yours look like?" Hide asked.
Mutski shrugged, "A simple kagune tail, pink coloured. Not really impressive, but considering it's only been a month, and that its suppressed, it wouldn't really be."
Hide again nodded in understanding, "I would imagine I'd probably get beaten up senselessly, considering I'm very new."
Tooru laughed briefly, "It's fine, you'll improve with time. I hated the sight of blood, and I still do, but I've learned to tolerate it. Any weakness you may fear you have, will eventually get dealt with."
"Do you guys go onto investigations yet?" Hide asked.
"Not really, we're still in the process of training, but once we are ready, and approved, we'll be allowed to participate in them."
"I see, do you need some help with those plates?" Hide asked, and Tooru shook his head.
"No thanks, I appreciate it, but you should get some rest. You have some training to do, so you'll probably get exhausted afterwards. You should get as much rest as you can now." Tooru stated, looking over to him.
Hide nodded after a bit, "Alright, I guess I'll see you tomorrow Tooru, have a good night's rest."
"You too." He stated, and with that Hide left the kitchen to go to his room.
It was currently 10:00, and Hide knew he would have a rough time tomorrow, considering his best friend was going to train and spar him. He sighed, specifically regarding Kaneki.
It was weird, considering the whole time Hide knew Kaneki, Hide was always the stronger one in their friendship. Always the one speaking up for him, and defending him. It was going to be a bit weird considering the person who would most definitely beat him to his limits was his best friend.
"Tomorrow's going to suck." Hide stated offhandedly, before closing his eyes.
To Hide's slight surprise, he found himself back in his subconsciousness, with the same weird dust-like figure approaching him. Once again, the figure approached him, slowly but surely, only for it to disappear once he got too close to him.
Once again, it was weird, but considering the number of times Hide had this sort of sequence in his atmosphere, it was not that weird.
Too much in his thoughts, he strangely found his subconsciousness moving to a brighter room. But what made this sequence stranger to Hide, was the dust-figure.
Instead of it being indistinguishable, it was now in the form of a human. This human was relatively unknown, Hide thought, as he did not have any previous interactions with them.
Despite knowing the figure was more natural than a dust figure, he still was unsure what this figure was. It was clearly wearing some form of a black clock, covering any small features that would give Hide some form of distinguishing.
He could say the human looked somewhat bulky, but the clothing could be blocking it, and he could assume the figure was his height, but they also could be wearing heels.
With that being said, however, there was one notable feature, Hide could see.
And that were the eyes of the individual, with a distinguishable red light coming out of it. Despite not seeing the face of the individual, Hide could determine that the eyes must be kakugans, meaning that this figure was actually a ghoul.
"Why is there a ghoul in my subconscious?" Hide could only ask, watching as the ghoul approached Hide, this time not disintegrating in the process.
Hide gulped, but watched as the figure put a hand on his shoulder.
He could have sworn he heard a female chuckle come from the figure, before Hide woke up.
"What the hell was that?!" Hide mumbled to himself, trying to get a grip on what he had just felt and witnessed in his mind. That couldn't have been real, it must have just been his mind playing tricks.
Although, he did remember one of the potential side effects that the quinx surgery could pose, one was hallucinations? Hide shook his head, he was still able to sleep and felt relaxed at the moment, so perhaps it wasn't that bad. After all, the hallucination, while creepy, probably was insignificant for Hide.
Hide quickly got up, gasping silently, and breathing relatively quickly. That was very strange, he thought before quickly getting out his bed.
Quickly realizing it was 7:00 AM, he decided to see if any of the others were awake. He first did some stretches, giving his body some time to relax before the oncoming damage it was definitely going to receive.
Quietly closing his door, he went down, deciding to shower around night, considering he had to spar and go to CCG meetings.
To his mild shock, he spotted Kaneki already down on the first floor, the training grounds.
"Oh K-," Hide shook his head, "I didn't know you woke up at this time." The hair on Hide's arms began to stand up at the sound of his best friend talking.
He sighed, remembering the deal Arima had specifically given to him whenever he was within his vicinity.
"Um, I'm sorry I was pretty tired and stressed, what is your name?" Hide asked, a bit meagerly, silently hoping he would say Kaneki.
"My name?" The white-haired investigator asked, "It's Haise. Haise Sasaki."
Hide's face frowned briefly, while his mind was a bit saddened at that. His best friend clearly was a different person, and unless he wanted to hurt his friend, there was nothing he could do.
"I see, anyways, do you want to start training?" Haise asked, and Hide looked up.
"Oh, um sure. I was just seeing if anyone else was awake, but I guess we could start now. Are we going to wake them up in the process?"
Haise shook his head, "Don't worry about them."
"Okay, so what are we going to do, in terms of sparing?" Hide asked, as Haise simply took out a notebook.
"Well, we have two forms of training. One with quinques, and the other with our kagune. The CCG discourages the use of our kagune's unless we are forced to, therefore we will focus more on the former." Haise stated, and Hide nodded.
Hide had a decent understanding of quinques, as they contained the kakuhou's of once threatening ghouls. He had seen Amon and Arima both use quinques to the best of their abilities. While Hide was certain he would struggle, as he didn't excel in muscle strength, unlike the other investigators, meaning most of his training would be muscle building.
Hide sighed, realizing he was inevitably going to be exhausted by the end of it.
"Well, what quinque will I be using?" Hide asked.
Haise simply brought out a quinque that Hide himself was familiar with.
"Is that Kura?" Hide asked, as it was relatively distinguishable. A tough black exterior, which contained a sharp red interior, shaped like a blade.
Haise seemed mildly surprised at my knowing it, "You know this blade?"
Hide chuckled, "Uh yeah, Arima told me I was going to use it, and I guessed it." He lied keeping a poker face, which Haise fell for.
"I see, so he told you some stuff, very well, we'll do some quinque sparring, and then a bit of testing your kagune, do you even know what it looks like?" Haise asked.
Hide shook his head, "No I don't. I do kind of wish."
Haise merely nodded, and before Hide knew it, he found himself tossed Kura.
"Woah!" He exclaimed not expecting it. He caught Kura, and to his mild surprise was able to hold it mostly, with ease.
"I thought this would've been a lot heavier..." Hide commented.
"Not necessarily, but it does specialize in defense, as it is a koukaru quinque."
Hide merely nodded, before he spotted Haise charging at him with Yukimura in a surprising speed.
However, instead of clashing with the blade, Hide ducked under the blow, rolling onto his feet as quickly as he can.
He spotted Haise relatively confused, as if he had not expected Hide to perform such an action. He merely shrugged, before trying again, this time taking note of Hide's reflexes.
This time Hide found himself lifting the quinque to collide with Haise, but as soon as it did, he felt himself lose balance, and falling.
"You must plant more effort and duck when that happens, to lower your center of gravity, or else you will fall like so." Haise merely stated, waiting for the orange-haired boy to get back up.
"Got it," Hide stated after getting up, holding Kura with his dominant hand, before successfully blocking an attack from Haise, though it wasn't as aggressive as he thought.
"That's better, now you try offensive." Haise stated, and Hide got confused.
"But isn't the koukaru designed for defense?" Hide asked, and Haise groaned.
"That may be so, but you must also experiment with other methods so that you do not become predictable." Haise merely stated.
Hide nodded, taking a deep breathe, before he ran towards Haise, swinging Kura with his might.
Only for it to be easily sidestepped. Hide then slowed his running, clearly not expecting to collide with air.
"That was surprisingly fast, but uncontrolled." Haise commented, and Hide sighed.
This clearly was going to be quite the training session.
The past hour, contained of Haise commenting on Hide's strikes with Kura. While he was quickly adapting to Haise's style and was getting the hand of his weapon in hand, he was still inexperienced, and his body could only handle so much.
His thoughts also were interrupted and occupied by the new bystanders watching the two with interest. Saiko was the first to show up, followed by Urie and Mutski. Shirazu was still sleeping, which Hide found interesting and kind of funny.
"Come on, more power!" Haise commanded, and Hide clenched his teeth, Kura still in his hand.
With as much power he could muster, he charged at Haise with equally as impressive speed.
The speed seemed to have caught Haise off guard, as he barely had time to bring Yukimura up in time, it colliding with Hide's Kura.
The two quinques' could be heard scratching along the surface, but would heal quickly. The commotion lasted only a couple of seconds, before Hide pulled back, his muscles having reached the limit.
Hide was somewhat panting, he had taken off his hoodie, with a simple white shirt instead taking over his relatively lanky figure.
Haise gave Hide a small smile, "That was better, your speed is very impressive."
Hide panted, "Thanks." Was all he said.
Haise simple looked on, putting Yukimura near the other members. Hide did the same.
"You're doing well for a first-timer." Saiko commented, and Hide shrugged.
"I don't know, all he was doing was yelling at me to hit harder, or stuff."
"That's kind of expected, you don't really look like the type to hit hard." Tooru mentioned, and Hide knew he was talking about his relatively lanky figure.
"Well, I guess I know what I must be doing after..." He mumbled before walking back to the battlefield, still panting slightly.
"What are we doing know?" Hide asked.
"Kagune training." Haise merely stated. With an impressive display, Haise's left eye turned black and red, a ghoul's kakugan, before charging at Hide with speeds Hide couldn't even react to.
Being struck with a kick to the stomach, Hide moaned in pain when he felt his body hit the wall.
He spotted Haise going in for another strike, but Hide grabbed his hand in a desperate attempt to cause a mis-strike, but he was simply too weak and tired.
"What was that?" Haise merely asked, and Hide groaned as he felt his head smash into the wall again.
"Can we stop!" Hide exclaimed. "Or at least take a pause man?"
Haise looked at him, before stopping. Hide was panting, hard again, his stomach, left shoulder and arm was hurting. He was in pain, and tired from his previous spar with the quinque's.
"You will heal relatively quickly, due to the Quinx's close nature to the ghoul." Haise commented, and Hide was relieved to see he was right, as his body began to hurt less.
Perhaps this surgery did have some positives after all.
With a deep breathe, Hide stook up straight, watching Haise look at him, "Are you ready?" Haise asked, and Hide nodded.
This time, Hide told himself to use his best strength, the only thing Haise had complimented him about: his speed.
When Haise began charging towards Hide again, Hide found himself strafing to the right.
He watched as Haise hit the wall instead of Hide, and Hide used the moment to strike a punch at Haise.
He heard the sound of gasps come from Saiko, who was probably shocked.
"Impressive indeed." Haise commented, but merely got up as if the strike was nothing, "But it needs more strength."
Hide sighed, again with his strength, he just was not powerful enough at the moment.
Hide then felt his body press on the floor, as he felt a barrage of slashes strike him, enough to pierce his skin, before being tossed across the field. When Hide looked up to himself, he saw that he was bleeding from many wounds, and that Haise had activated his kagune. Only two red-pink tentacles flying around him like a spirit.
"So that's where the slashes came from." Hide mumbled, as he tried to avoid the tentacles.
But he was merely inexperienced at that, and so found himself being slashed and stabbed multiple times.
Hide was sure he was done for, but to his surprise found himself getting up. Haise seemed to notice the surprise look of the orange-haired guy.
"A Quinx and a ghoul's body are more durable than a human, I thought you knew that."
"I do, it's just surprising, I don't know the limits." Hide replied, and Haise merely shrugged. Hide then saw a flash of red before blackness took over his vision.
Hide's Unconsciousness
Hide unexpectedly found himself in his subconsciousness again, which surprised him. They usually didn't come on unless, he was unconscious or asleep.
"Crap, he probably knocked me out, how embarrassing..." Hide mumbled. It was funny, Kaneki was the one beating him up now.
He then suddenly found himself in a blood red environment, which confused him.
The figure approaching Hide, putting a hand on his bare cheek. It was here did Hide realize how cold this person's hands felt.
When he looked up, he saw those same eyes of black and red, the same ghoul, wearing the same clothing.
"I see you're in a bit of a pickle." The ghoul talked for the first time, and it was here did Hide realize it was a girl's voice. Judging by it, probably just a young adult.
"Who-who are y-you?" Hide asked, stammering at the sight of a ghoul so close to him.
"You don't know?" She merely asked.
"No, can I at least get a name or something, it'd be easier." Hide replied.
The ghoul to her credit lifted her hand and to her darkened cheek, which he could barely make out the jawline.
"Well, I don't think I can give you my real name, but I guess you can call me Amber."
That confused Hide, that sounded somewhat American. "That doesn't sound Japanese."
"It's because I wasn't, I was from the western world."
A certain word popped up for Hide, "wasn't?"
"Oh, yeah, I'm actually dead, so I reside in your mind now." Amber merely mentioned, and Hide was relatively shocked.
"Wait, what? How do you live in my mind?" Hide asked.
The girl, Amber, chuckled, "You really don't know? Don't worry, you'll find out soon enough."
Hide sighed, it was a bit frustrating not getting the answers you wanted sometimes, but also knew that was how the world worked. It was a bunch of unanswered questions that you were supposed to answer in your life.
"Very well, Amber, may I ask why you have decided to forge contact with me now?" Hide asked, recalling what was happening while he was unconscious.
Amber chuckled, "Isn't it clear, you're getting your ass kicked for a lack of a better term."
Hide rolled his eyes, "Well, yeah, there's no way I can stand up to an experienced fighter, even if said fighter is my amnesiac best friend."
"Ahh Kaneki Ken, who know goes by Haise Sasaki. Living his life as a bookworm, at the wrong place at the wrong time. Suddenly, his world got turned around. He's a tragedy. He was already one, with his parents' demise and his aunt neglecting him. Oh, and then there's his mother be-"
Hide turned his eyes to Amber's in confusion, "mother's what?" He asked.
"Don't worry about it, but there's always a way to defeat your opponent, regardless of their strength."
Hide sighed, "And what do you do?"
Amber smiled; the white teeth the only thing Hide could see. "You play dirty. If you can't beat your opponent, through strength, agility, or defense, then you must play dirty, utilizing anything you've got.
"But, that's-"
Amber interrupted him, "Nothing is disrespectful in the battlefield, I was taught that before my death, by a bloody CCG investigator."
So, she was killed by the CCG, huh? That made Hide understand a bit more. But why was she "living" in Hide's mind?
"But you also have that kagune from the surgery in you, perhaps you could use it." Amber finished, and Hide was shocked she knew about that."
"You know-"
"Of course, I knew, but that kagune of yours, could be your tool. You may not know how to use it, but it'll help you be on an even ground with him."
Hide then shrugged, "I don't even know how to activate it..."
"Well, activating your kagune's very simple, once you get the hand of it." Amber merely stated, her hands rubbing Hide.
Hide felt weird, but continued, "So you think I can activate it, even though I've only had it for a week, and I'm only trying now?"
"No." Amber stated, laughing, "But you're a quick learner, if you actually tried, and stop hesitating, and blaming your lanky body, then you can achieve activating it."
Hide gulped, it was a new thing, but he knew he had to learn how to activate his kagune.
After all, that's what Haise had been wanting him to do.
"Alright, then how do I activate it?" Hide asked the ghoul in his mind, he calls Amber.
A.N / I was very confused how I was going to differentiate with Haise, and if I should show his mental battle with Kaneki, kind of for ownership of the body, but I decided to try a similar thing with Hide. I hinted this with the subconsciousness of Hide's mind, which will play a role, similar to how whenever Kaneki gets beaten, he goes in his own mind. We will find out, because Hide will understand and is a quick learner, who Amber is.
