The Quinx of Change
Summary: With multiple sessions of looking into documents and information, not to mention the training with his amnesiac best friend, Hide contemplates performing his own adventure, to confirm some suspicions. He then realizes if he is to successfully pass by an CCG skeptic, he is requiring something to hide his identity. With help from Amber, he realizes the perfect disguise.
After roughly six months of training, both in utilizing both quinques and their built-in kagune's, Hide and the rest of the Quinx Squad had begun getting comfortable in the battlefield.
Even though they still had yet to gain a major mission, they have obviously participated in smaller, less serious missions that usually only involved low-rated ghouls. Because of this, many of the Quinx Squad were left inside the building while some of the more experienced investigators went out.
Hide decided to take full advantage of this opportunity whenever an investigator briefly went out, deciding to carefully look over any documents that may be somewhat classified. Even so, there were not many consequences if Hide were to be caught for the simple fact that he was now an investigator, and while some were still skeptical of him, due to his time in Cochlea, they did have to remember that, one, he was a member of the CCG, and two, his record was cleaned completely afterwards.
A year spent in Cochlea obviously had some effects on Hide. After a year of very little activity, nutritious food, and overall lifestyle, Hide's body had gotten somewhat slimmer. His clothes were a bit too big for him ironically, and his face looked somewhat tired most of the time. His arms, even with physiotherapy was still rather small, in contrast to the rest of his body.
That all changed with the constant training over the past six months with the Quinx Squad, to polish their fighting, in the event of fighting actual ghouls. Hide's rather slim body had developed some muscle to make up for the weight loss. The food and his physical activities ironically changed from one to the other, but what made Hide more open was the ability to see the outside world. Especially for a rather outgoing and energetic character like Hide, he yearned for movement and excitement, and so during his time in Cochlea, was the most difficult part.
It has been quite the time since Hide's first fight with Haise, and before he knew it, he was allowed to spar alongside the rest of them.
Shirazu was the most similar to him, them both being ukaku. But whereas Shirazu's took the form of a suction cup of an octopus, Hide's took the form of orange wings. Shirazu was definitely the more experienced of the two as he preferred his kagune, specifically his projectiles which were more volatile than Hide's, while Hide excelled in close quarters, his crystalized wings able to cover his flanks and act as large swords that could puncture skin. In many ways, Hide considered this to be his favourite member to spar with. Not to mention their similar personalities, and they became rather close friends.
Saiko was usually an interesting battle for Hide, as her small stature made her incredibly difficult for him to hit with his crystallized wings. Not to mention that her tentacles were much more explosive, requiring more strength for Hide to use whenever he was in the defense. That meant that Hide would no doubt get overwhelmed when in close quarters, as he would have to remain on the defense, which he could barely handle. What gave Hide the edge that made the fight fairer was his kagune projectiles, which while wasn't as potent as Shirazu's, also covered more space. She felt, to Hide, like a small sister who was sometimes scared and needed courage, though when she wanted to was scary.
Mutski was the one he had least difficulty with, due to his advantage against her. A pink corkscrew shaped kagune, Hide could defend himself off against his blows, before lashing back with his projectiles, which usually did a number on him. Close quarters combat was fairer for Mutski, for he could attack low, which would cause Hide to evade and go on the defense. Due to the nature and structure of Hide's crystallized wings, he could only defend himself from high and straight assaults, but was particularity vulnerable to uppercut-like attacks, which Mutski excelled in, making their sparring more evenly matched. Mutski was probably the most interesting to Hide, as it seemed that the boy was hiding something from him. He always seemed rather secretive, which Hide chose to respect.
The most difficult of the bunch, after Haise obviously, was Urie. His serious nature meant he took the sparring much more seriously, and his kagune had the advantage over Hide's. His kagune took the form of an armored bird shape, that Hide could not penetrate with his projectiles. Close quarters were not much better neither, as his crystallized wings also couldn't penetrate the hardened exterior of the kagune. His only breakthrough was waiting for an opening to lash point-blank projectiles in his opening, which itself was uncommon and went briefly. As a result, this made Urie look down on Hide quite a bit, calling him "pathetic," and the likes. Of course, Hide knew that he had the natural advantage over him and knew that he was unanimously the most experienced in a sense.
When it came to Haise, Hide had gotten the message and dialogue with Arima, telling him to refrain from mentioning anything from their past, whether it be what restaurant they used to go to, the universities, or even anything to reference his disappearance. Hide nodded, understanding his deal with the CCG reaper, and went on with his business. Of course, he looked at his amnesiac best friend, hoping for some hope of him coming back. Unfortunately, it did not, and Hide was stuck to only spar with him, and while he had gotten better, he just wasn't as experienced. Still, he had some occasional simple conversations, with Hide trying his best to refrain from anything that would bring up Kaneki. As much as Hide wanted to, he had to respect the deal and his friend's health.
Regarding his own kagune, Hide was actually proud in his ability to use it rather quickly. However, it seemed that he was facing quite the problems with it. Specifically, how his stamina ran out relatively quickly, much quicker than the rest, even Shirazu, an ukaku himself. It was somewhat frustrating, considering that he had gotten the kagune that literally and slowly burned his very own cells as a way to fight. It was somewhat frustrating.
Then, there was the other problem. The fluctuations within his rc cell count. At the moment, Hide had taken an rc cell count test after a battle, and to everyone's shock, it had fallen to a dangerous low of 32. Yes, a mere 32. Thus, Hide had to spend quite the time healing his rc cells back to acceptable levels. As for why, it was eventually revealed by the medical experts, or anatomical experts, that the flames on his wings slowly sapped away his rc cells, and the fight he had with Haise was enough, considering how new Hide was to fighting with a kagune and everything.
It is theorized that with time, Hide would be able to manage his rc cells more, and even use the flaming wings to more potential.
Right now, Hide was relatively busy. In this particular time, many of the investigators were out investigating an S-rated ghoul incident, that required even Arima and Akira to the battlefront. While many were still back, it was a lot less crowded and packed than before, and Hide used this time to look into specific documents that interested him.
Specifically, the one on Dr. Kanou, the doctor whose name was familiar to Hide.
That was because this was exact doctor who performed the organ transplant surgery on Kaneki, and had the arrest warrant on him to this day. Hide was looking into any hints of his whereabouts. While it wasn't sure why Hide was researching into this specific case, it did involve his best friend. He was the one that ultimately put his best friend into this cycle of a messy and violent story he was in today.
Of course, finding more information regarding him and the likes may give him a better understanding of why he is doing what he did.
Obviously, the first thing he needed to do was look into the very beginning, and work his way down from there to now. Finding the location of Dr. Kanou would be the perfect step for Hide, and he had put most of not just his work period, but also his free time into this as well.
Even Haise had told Hide to take a break every once in a while. When it came to the overall Quinx Squad, Hide did get along well with them individually with the exception of Urie, but collectively Hide was unsure. He was hesitant to take part in group dinners whenever they cooked, and while he ate the food, he usually went down to eat, and clean himself up noticeably later than most.
The only one who was usually awake during 10:00 PM, as many of them were heavy sleepers, or just went in their room for silence and privacy, was Tooru, who usually cleaned everything up. Hide would sometimes go down and help, but he was relatively hesitant, not that it was one-sided of course.
Eventually, however, while searching for it, he found a clue.
"Rushima, 18th ward, huh? Aogiri base? So, he's a member of the Aogiri Tree..." Hide mumbled, gripping the information he was given. He looked around to any nearby passerby. When he saw none, he quickly took out his phone and took a picture of the screen, making sure the details were clear in it before closing the computer down.
Hide sighed, having his clue, and therefore knew of his private matter. If he could at least gather information of what he's doing without causing any problems, or being caught, he could confirm and maybe, under an anonymous source, expose Dr. Kanou's work.
It was not perfect, obviously, but he had to try. If he could hinder Kanou's work, then perhaps he could stop others from falling to Kaneki's fate.
Realizing it was getting late, and that he needed to go with the Quinx Squad, Hide ran to meet up with them, but while they were talking, Hide was pondering. Whilst this was going on, Hide realized something.
"Crap, I need a disguise if I am to walk into that area exposed!" Hide's mind thought, clearly trying to think of something that would help that loophole.
After he went in the Chateau, he decided to get an early dinner for once, to eat with the rest. Though he didn't talk, as he let his mind race, he was at least participating with the rest. Something they had wanted him to do for a while.
"You know, ghouls are the masters of disguise, not that they want to." Ahh, that voice, Hide thought, as he shook his head.
Amber, the name he was given to call the ghoul inside his subconsciousness, or his mind. It always seemed to manifest itself, at least her voice whenever Hide activated his kagune, though it always felt constrained. The only time he could get a normal conversation with her was whenever he was asleep, or unconscious.
Though, recently as seen here, at least the voices she had played when Hide was asleep, were now playing a lot more. Many random sayings, some were insults, random statements, unnecessary meanings, or actual advice, Hide did his best to drown it out.
"We ghouls have to hide ourselves from the CCG, wear and be a mask, so to say."
That statement caught Hide off-guard, as an idea began to form.
He looked to the table, "Hey guys." Hide started, the awkwardness and with the unexpected voice of Hide's, it got the table quiet.
He scratched his head, "This may sound stupid, but why exactly do ghouls where masks?"
He noticed some looks of displeasure and confusion, before Haise answered, "It's fine, many ghouls wear masks to hide their identity. If the CCG were to get a picture of their face, then their chances of hiding are limited. It's best to stay in the shadows than to stick out when they have the CCG after them."
Hide nodded, "I understand now, thank you." He replied before going back to his meal. Who cooked this again? He asked himself.
"Honesty will get you nowhere, trust me."
The replayed sounds of Amber were echoing in Hide's mind, as once he finished, he got up and began to head upstairs. He decided to wait until everyone was asleep, so that he could do something. He looked around his room and his boxes, with stuff he still has not put out yet, in the meantime, looking for something to help with his disguise.
Until he found it. A scarecrow costume.
"Huh, I wore this for Halloween two years ago. It's funny that it's still here..." Hide mumbled to himself, before he decided to test wear it, to see if it still fit him.
It definitely did, though it was big for him two years ago. He probably grew a bit for it to fit more properly now.
He watched as the scarecrow suit was on, and decided to head out. He purposely ripped the parts on his shoulder blades, so that it wouldn't get destroyed in the event that he'd have to activate his kagune.
"There we go." He mumbled, putting the scissors down, after putting incisions on the spoken areas. Shortly after, he no longer heard the sound of dish washing.
He sighed, before he began to head out, being as silent as he could. Hoping none of the inhabitants would check up on him, though knowing their history, Haise only checks up on them early morning rather than late night.
This gave Hide some time to act, and it was a time for him to act.
He picked his pocket, making sure he had some control rc gas grenades, he had around three, which would make it work. Unlike himself, these grenades would not really have an effect on him unlike some ghouls.
This was mainly due to his built-up immune response to external stimuli of rc cells, and his constant fluctuation. As for why this built up? The experimental surgery that made Hide regrow his left arm.
Even if it did, he probably would not be able to fend off some members of aogiri tree, meaning while it would also hurt Hide, it'd at least give him a fairer and more even fight.
Ward 11, Aogiri Tree's Hideout
Hide sighed, as he began to make his way towards his perceived destination. This was a rather dangerous time for anyone to be out, late night as this was when ghouls would usually be hunting. Taking his suit off quickly, thanking himself he was wearing his clothes underneath, he caught a nearby taxi who was going towards the 18th ward.
Once he left, he quickly reequipped his wardrobe before heading out towards the building. Pulling out his phone to take a better look at the building, he could tell something was wrong.
Hide could feel that the closer he went, the weirder it felt. He began to smell something different. It was very faint, but noticeable, almost as if there was a lot of them.
Hide knew, from that feeling, plus with the CCG's eyes on it, that it possibly is ghouls.
Hide sighed, spotting a window he could potentially use to get up. It was somewhat opened and Hide silently thanked his now advanced physical capabilities. After quite some time, the effects of the Quinx surgery were beginning to settle in.
He was able to climb more efficiently, and even though it was not good, he realized he would have to use his wings.
Hide sighed, drowning the deceiving voice in his mind that was Amber's.
He activated his kagune, the wings nicely fitting out the custom holes of his scarecrow costume. Utilizing it, he finally managed to get on the open window, before dropping down into the dark building.
Hide took a bit of a breather, making sure no one was around to witness his break in. Right now, it was midnight, and under his scarecrow costume, hoped he would not get spotted. He could see some ghouls around, but they either were asleep or in a daze.
Quietly walking around, he could merely watch as the place seemed to be somewhat eroding away. The smell was disgusting, though Hide managed to have get through the smell. His mind was racing as he strolled pass. He tried to keep a straight posture, to look confident, so that in the event he is spotted he may be mistaken as a member of whatever they are in.
He looked around, not really seeing anything noticeable. He could hear some commotion, so he decided to take a closer look at what was happening. The sound was relatively unknown, and so Hide felt that maybe this could give him some clues as to what happened, not just to Kaneki, but to the other potential victims.
To Hide's horror, he eventually stumbled across a room, filled with dead people. Hide wanted to turn around, because the overall figures of these deceased individuals weren't even human looking. Some looked like genuine aliens, some skin just there, and some peeling off. It looked barbaric, and it made Hide want to vomit.
It clearly was the most disgusting thing Hide had ever seen before, and while he did want to leave, a small information seemed to have caught his eyes, that made him stare at the deceased for a bit more time. The clothing's, or at least the remnants of what they were wearing. It looked eerily similar to that of the presumed decease of the CCG during the Owl Suppression Mission.
Hide sighed, remembering the mission that no dauntedly changed everyone's life. It was the one that brought Hide into this position, his best friend to be suffering from total amnesia, and for the most CCG deaths they had witnessed in a while, or forever exclusively in the 20th ward.
Then, it hit Hide. Seidou Takizawa and Koutaru Amon. Two individuals he had talked with, two individuals whom Akira was sensitive to talk about, the two of them were presumed deceased by the CCG after the operation. But seeing the multitudes of bodies here, it made Hide hyperventilating.
"No, it can't..." He mumbled, hoping to God that by any miracle, they were not among the deceased in whatever this pile was.
It was disgusting, at least there was no evidence of bugs or parasites or anything, considering the fact that they leave these bodies here to rot.
Hide sighed, giving a slight pray, wishing these people a graceful afterlife, before threading along.
He was still rather traumatized by the sheer bodies he had seen, and hesitantly decided to take a picture of it. How was he going to anonymously show it to the CCG? The more he thought about it, the more he realized how difficult it would be. Perhaps he could secretly pay someone, or anonymously "drop" the information at a random person's house?
Hide sighed, before he entered quite the interesting room. He looked at what appeared to be some sort of a capsule, with some weird fluid inside of them. He spotted some weird stuff going around this, and quickly realized he was getting closer to whatever he was looking for.
While Hide continued onwards, he noticed a passerby ghoul. Hide gulped, before straightening his posture and walking more confidently. As he neared the ghoul, it clearly seemed to have an interest in Hide, who simply ignored him and carried on.
Aside from looking at the ghoul and nodding his head, the ghoul shrugged, thinking the scarecrow was probably just a passerby or a guard, and thus not a threat.
Hide sighed once he got quite the ways, smiling to himself when it worked. Before he could make it to the other door, however, he noticed another ghoul standing right next to it.
Hide gulped, knowing he would have to communicate with this ghoul to get allowed in the next room.
He approached the ghoul, who was wearing a basic all white mask.
"Can I help you?" The ghoul asked. Judging by its voice, it was an adult, and Hide gulped.
"I was wondering if I could talk to Akihiro Kanou." Hide merely stated.
The ghoul looked on his confusion. "Why do you need to talk to him?" It merely asked.
Hide shrugged, "I have some dire information regarding the deceased he would like to know."
"What deceased?" the ghoul asked, clearly playing dumb.
"The deceased in the other room, the failed experiments." Hide answered, hoping the ghoul would believe him and let him go.
The ghoul did not seem convinced. "Raise your mask."
Hide flinched, not the answer he was expecting nor hoping, "Excuse me?" He asked, not believing this ghoul.
"You heard what I said, raise your mask, let me see your face." The ghoul merely repeated, with more seriousness.
Hide sighed, "It's not a mask, it's a wardrobe."
The ghoul shook their head, "I don't care." The ghoul then began to step forward, "Let me see you-"
Hide sighed, knowing he had no choice at the moment. Eyeing the ghoul, he silently apologized for what he was about to do, but considering his own allegiance, it was only natural for him to do this.
*Fiery Drift*
The ghoul guard never got its chance to finish his sentence, as soon as he approached within striking distance to Hide, the scarecrow utilized his speed. The figure of scarecrow dissipated in a fiery aura, as the next thing the ghoul knew, his throat was being constricted by the scarecrow's very own arms.
During his sparring with the others, his overall evasiveness and mobility had improved quite drastically, with his strength and defense being capable of fending off opponents also improving.
But it was his speed, specifically in which he could attack that made Hide stand out. Whereas some other ghouls were fast and mobile, Hide's was on another level. He was among the fastest within his group, only being slowed down a bit by Kuro. His ability to maneuver was impressive and launch multiple quick-fire attacks using his speed was remarkable.
Especially with the issue of his own rc cells being sapped whenever he brought out his kagune, he had to minimize the use at the moment, because of how dangerous it was, not just to Hide's own health, but also to the environment, as there was the risk that Hide could set fire to flammable objects. Thus, one of his first abilities he could use for his kagune
Fiery Drift. It was a simple kagune ability, that Hide could use as an evasive maneuver rather than an attack. The main advantage was the fact that, one, Hide used very little of his rc cells, risking to become burnt to use it, and the second was how quick Hide could snap out, and attack a ghoul unsuspecting of a flanking manuever.
In this case, he merely went behind the ghoul before he could realize, and wrapped his arms around his neck, while covering its mouth, slowly chocking the ghoul in the process.
Throughout his training, and overall understanding of fighting ghouls, Hide found a rather simple but effective way to deal with ghouls effectively, considering how difficult they are to kill.
Strangulation. It wasn't good, Hide knew that, not wanting to perform it regularly. However, considering his situation and if he were to fight the ghoul it would result in reinforcements, he wanted to keep this as quiet as possible. Despite how tough they could be, considering they could heal from wounds that would permanently cripple a human, they still need to breathe as much as them.
They still needed oxygen as much as the others, and so a simple neck crush would actually been enough to kill, or severely cripple a ghoul. After two minutes of resistance, the guard eventually ceased it, and Hide let the ghoul drop to the floor.
Hide sighed, looking at the motionless ghoul, whose stubbornness put him in that situation. At least that's what Hide wanted to think, when in reality it was his own selfishness.
But he couldn't ponder longer, especially with the dead ghoul. Hide realized he needed to do something with the body. He could eat it, but he digressed, probably thinking it would be disgusting. He was still a human. So, with no much thinking and with a quick carry, Hide went back to the room with all the deceased experiments and tossed the ghoul within the mountain of dead bodies.
He did not want to come back to this room, but considering to leave this building was to go the opposite way, he knew he would have to come back.
Hide shook his head, he first needed to worry about escaping now. Once he got back to the room, he opened the door, and his eyes widened in slight shock at what he was seeing. Interestingly the door opens to a brief area outside.
However, what surprised Hide was in fact, were the three individuals. The first two with their masks seemed to be ghouls associated with aogiri tree, but the third, and the one in the middle, was different. If anything seemed like a captive individual. But this individual looked eerily similar to Hide.
"Is this, Koutaru Amon?" Hide asked himself, not believing his eyes. But regardless it looked right. That, miraculously enough, was Amon, alive, and presumably decently well.
Hide growled, which did not go unnoticed from the other guards.
"Hey, what the hell are you?" One asked, while it and the other ghoul began to raise their kagune. One looked to be a bikaku and the other a koukaru. An advantage and a disadvantage, Hide made out, but he shrugged, taking out a control rc gas grenade and quickly activating it.
The two ghouls whose kagune were out were now dissipating, with the ghouls being rendered helpless.
"Let it out, Hide, let me join in on the fun!" The sound of Amber was coming out again shortly after, and Hide did not know whether or not it was a consequence of the grenade.
"You're not sleeping, I cannot talk to you. We're supposed to have fun together every night, so let me out Hide!" Amber's voice again semi-begged for Hide to let her out, and he obliged.
Seeing as the two ghouls were not letting up, Hide with his kakugen in his right eye, it emanating from his makeshift, but transparent eyes. His orange wings sprouting out of his shoulder blades, raised high, as he quickly rained down multiple crystallized projectiles from his kagune. It was only now did Hide realize that the shape of the projectile, after picking it up, was in the shape of music notes.
"Interesting, I didn't know that was possible..." He mumbled afterwards, not taking into account the two ghouls who were now hurt.
"I would not worry about that, you'll regenerate fine, but I'd worry about your boss finding out you let your subject escape." Hide said as authoritarian and seriously as he could, hoping the tone would not give him away.
The two ghouls were exhausted, and their rc levels would be compromised for an hour or so.
So, with a breath, Hide approached the weakened and beaten Amon.
"W-who a-are-" Amon attempted to ask, but was interrupted when Hide, in his scarecrow suit raised his hand.
"Do not worry about it. I am not associated with these people, Koutaru Amon." Hide stated, with Amon's eyes widening at the sound of someone knowing his full name.
"W-where am I?" Amon asked, "Takizawa..."
That name raised Hide's eyebrow, as the name was also familiar. "Seidou Takizawa?" Hide asked, and Amon nodded, seemingly a bit surprised about "scarecrow," knowing a CCG member.
"What happened to him?" Hide asked, a bit hopeful.
"He's- He's still in there, he's being-" Amon didn't finish his sentence, and Hide sighed.
"He's alive?" Hide simply asked afterwards.
"Y-yes..." Amon simply stated after a bit, he was panting, and Hide could clearly feel that something was wrong with him.
"Alright, I'll go forward. You get out of here while you can." Hide simply replied, "I'll look for Takizawa." He finished, before walking towards the next door, ignoring whatever mumbling Amon was saying.
It was more of just hallways and rooms with what seems to be weird chairs and much more. There wasn't much information other than that did Hide could use to his advantage. He looked in a nearby bucket, only for him to wanting to puke after seeing the flesh of multiple toes and fingers.
"Disgusting..." Hide mumbled, before he sighed.
He could not really see for any semblance of Takizawa, except for Amon stating that he was alive. It seemed that out of the CCG investigators whose bodies went missing, Amon's and Takizawa's were the only ones who seemed to still be alive. He had hesitantly taken a picture of the room, before he decided to call it curtains for now.
He could always come back and visit later, and he certainly did not want to overstay his welcome.
With not much to say, Hide began tracing back his footsteps, meeting the same rooms he had already been in, double checking for any smaller information he may have missed. The hardest room, for Hide to go back in was easily the, what he called, the dead room, filled with the corpse of dead investigators, who did not even look like them anymore, as well as the ghoul he had strangled.
It was somewhat traumatic; the first ghoul Hide had killed in his entire life. The first being he had killed, just like that, and he felt unbothered it somewhat scared him. I guess you could also consider a fly a being, but this felt more personal for Hide.
"I'm just as much as a monster as them..." He merely stated, looking at the motionless, fresh dead ghoul he had deprived oxygen from, before walking away, not wanting his guilt to overwhelm him. He first needed to escape before he could weep.
"Oh Hide, I enjoyed that." The voice of Amber once again bothered Hide.
"What?" He asked, "Why do I have to hear you know?"
"Oh, I don't know, but congrats! You killed your first ghoul. Pretty uneventful if you asked me. I mean, you just got behind him and strangled him like any mere murderous human would."
Hide sighed, not wanting to deal with this, "I'll go to sleep later, and we can talk then, okay?" He asked, and Amber made a noise.
"Hmmm, okay, but we have a lot of talking to do! You know, with that investigator you saved."
Hide waited a moment, waiting for Amber to continue, but she didn't, and he knew he was in for it when he went to sleep. He was thankful that he and the rest were to go in later tomorrow, but also wondered if Haise would wake him up for training.
Getting his phone, all Hide could do was look at the photos he had gotten, once he escaped the building of course, using the same window, and his wings to stall his fall.
He quickly took off his scarecrow costume before running as fast as he could towards the Chateau. He figured that perhaps the exercise would make him fall asleep better once he finally made it. Even with his superhuman physique, he was still rather weak compared to the rest of the crowd around him, and therefore needed all the practice he could get.
Once he finally made it, after about felt like almost an hour, Hide looked at the time, only to find that it was almost one in the morning.
Hide sighed, praying that he was going to get a long sleep.
He quietly entered the Chateau, his scarecrow suit in his orange bag before he silently made it to his room. Once he made it, without waking anyone up, he looked at his phone, noting all the disgusting things he had come across. Even though he had managed to help Amon, he hoped the guy was okay.
Putting his backpack down and changing into more comfortable clothing, Hide went to his bed, the feeling to sleep, mixed with Amber's voice calling him, made him close his eyes much sooner than he had anticipated.
"So, tell me how your experience went! I've killed and eaten many ghouls myself! You should've let yourself eat that ghoul, at least it would've been gone and you would have gotten stronger!" The voice of Amber was the first thing Hide heard before he woke up in his subconsciousness.
A.N / Chapter 8 finished. Like I said previously, this was a rather large time skip, as the events between Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:re was 2-3 years apart. Therefore, the next chapter will probably consist of more interaction with Amber, because I actually like what I have done with her, alongside a more predictable story. As for when Kaneki will regain his memories, it'll probably be around the same time, however I want to focus more on Hide if he stuck with the CCG as a Quinx. I do have plans for Hide later on, which involves Amber.
Fiery Drift: An evasive maneuver that has the user dissipate in a shrouding figure of flames as a decoy to temporarily confuse and blind the enemy, allowing the user to strike at an opening. Burning only a small amount of rc, it works as a quick evasive ability with the potential to counterattack. Of course, it can quickly become predictable if used multiple times.
Hide will get new moves with time, and I will put all the known moves in the chapters below, with the description on when they are introduced. The moves with no description have already been introduced in a previous chapter.
