A/N: This is my take for the Naruhina month 2021 : day 1 (soulmate)
...
100 years. He had been living for 100 years.
Yet, his eyes still held the same blues, the swirl of power still burning within his belly and his chest still felt the same pain, the same feeling he felt during the 4th war.
He saw death.
Multiple death and quite frequently at that.
Death of his comrades, his teammates, his sensei's. More of them gone and more of them keep coming. The generation still lives.
The will of fire and the age of shinobi still continues.
Day by day, years passed he misses his family.
His children death felt like it was still yesterday.
Himawari died at the age of 60. She lived a happy life, have a family together with her boyfriend. Living life like a journey, making memories with the nature.
His sunflower bloomed and he's so proud of his daughter. Himawari always loved peace but none could be said the same for his eldest son.
Boruto died at the age of 80. He had a long life as a proud shinobi. He's the strongest and the mightiest warrior ever lived.
But not all goes well in his lifetime. The Ootsutsuki ruined the familiar boy he used to be making him change and lost his guidance.
His life were filled with vain. The people were divided, war keep threatening and Konoha choosed treason while he tried hard to protect his own flesh and blood.
Boruto life got taken away with the brave spirit he once held.
He witnesses everything, every moment, every painful emotion felt vivid. In the end, the Uzumaki children lived a fullfil life.
His wife, Hyuuga Hinata died at 45. She was his begining and he was her lifetime. She was the first death among their fellow comrades.
During her last life she was still selfless, courageous and warm. He was there to hold her hand and watched her pale eyes dimmed in the bright sky.
He still keep her promise. Their promise.
Still, she was the one who choose to go first.
It took years for his children to grew from the pain and continue life, living the remaining of their mother. Continuing her legacy until the last breath. Hinata would definitely be proud of them just as he is.
But for him, forgetting her took him an eternity.
Every moment he still saw her. Feeling her warmth the fresh of her scent.
Never would he ever think of moving forward without her in life.
So he waited.
...
...
He saw his classmates celebrating the exam with joyous laughter and smile on their parents face. While he sat there, alone on the swing.
"Naruto-kun?"
A familiar voice called his name.
The twelve year old genin turn his head. His bright blue eyes widened and a wide grin plastered on his face.
"Hinata!"
Her pale moon eyes glistening with tears and she was to be the first one to engulf him with a hug.
He can't help himself from laughing even though his eyes also burned.
"I'll wait for you, forever."
...
...
"I want to be with you. From now on, I want to spend all and every single one of my days until I die with you and only you, Hinata."
-Naruto Uzumaki.
