Pleasure of the Law – Part 1 – Rias

Sometimes the ORC aren't quick enough on their hunts for Stray Devils and sometimes that costs lives that can never be returned. For this the police in Kuoh have to find convenient excuses to explain away disappearances and murders in the usually quiet town. One day Rias decides to visit the chief and apologize…

"Hah… again we find another Stray… but they left 5 bodies behind before we even found them…" Rias strained as she held her head with both her hands as she sat at her desk.

"Sometimes things like this happen and some fall through the cracks you can't blame yourself for everything Rias. You're not all knowing." Akeno tries to comfort her friend.

Ever since she had been appointed to look after Kuoh, things had been steady but recently many monsters and strays had been making their way to her and Sona's territory.

Even between the two of their groups it's still touch and go. Things can seem to be calm and then one day sightings of large monsters or strays are leaving them stretched thin.

But recently things had been finally calming down with a sense of normalcy returning to Kuoh, but she now that the police chief of Kuoh; her ally was feeling some immense pressure as he had to deal with the public backlash of these horrific incidents.

It's not like he could admit to the world that actual devils existed otherwise the whole city; no… the whole world would be one rumor mill and then panic would set in. So he was having to balance on a tightrope between normal crime and the supernatural.

Recently however it was heard that a famous "sweeper" or monster hunter had been outsourced to the police to hunt down some monsters recently. But due to the attacks lessening they went on there way eventually.

"But still… I must apologize to him. It's the least I can do…" Rias said to herself as she got up from her desk and went off to visit the Police station.

Rias left as she headed for the Kuoh Police HQ and after being greeted by the many officers who knew her she made her way to the Chief's office knocking on his door.

"Come in…" The chief's strained voice replied as Rias entered the room.

"R-Rias Gremory? What are you doing here at this time of night?"

Chief Harrison Takumi wasn't a native to Japan. He was actually born in America but had moved to Japan only a few years ago and after many hurdles he became a police officer in Kuoh until eventually he rose through the ranks of the department.

He had become chief of police near the time that Rias and Sona were sent to govern the territory in Kuoh and so he had been in a working relationship with both girls on the topic of the supernatural and how to deal with the response.

"I want to apologize for all that we've put you threw recently. All the murders and disappearances… you've had to shoulder the burden of the backlash, but it's really MY group's duty to stop them from getting out of hand. So again I want to apologize." Rias said as she bowed her head.

"No, Rias don't do that. You have nothing to apologize for; I know this job would be hard, even more so after hearing about what you and Ms. Sitri have to deal with on occasion, but there's no need to apologize for anything." Takumi replied.

"But still…" Rias tried to insist on her apology but Takumi brought his hands to her shoulders.

"Look Rias, I know the pressure that comes with this job, now let me do my part so you can do yours." Takumi said as he gave a small smile.
