"And so Ranma comes over wearing a girls' uniform, hands me a towel and starts showering me with all these gifts." Tatewaki said laughing into his beer while Ranma hung his head in shame and everyone else began smirking. "And then after that, she starts spouting out 'I love you, Kuno dear. Please go out with me!"

"It wasn't like that!" Ranma protested flushing a deep crimson while his family laughed.

"Yes it was!" Akane corrected him.

"Did you really like Uncle Tachi like that, Daddy?" Kaori asked inquisitively, before picturing Tatewaki as her own father instead of Akane in her mind.

"What!? No!" Ranma pleaded waving his hands in front of him. "Seriously! It wasn't like that, I was doin' for Akane!"

"Doesn't sound like it." Ryoga smirked, enjoying Ranma's embarrassment.

"Hey, I was trying to beat that cheerleader girl at her own game!" Ranma protested "If she hadn't been makin' Akane cry then I wouldn't have embarrassed myself like that!"

Akane smiled as she remembered her husband's actions back then. But of course, that didn't stop her from chiming in. "Well, you sure looked like you were trying prove your love to Kuno" she said smirking. "Of course you changed your tone when I got there."

"Well wouldn't you?" Ranma said "If I had to choose between loving Kuno or chuckin' myself off a bridge I'd jump!" The air suddenly fell silent as the impact of Ranma insulting both his wife and his brother in law fell. "Now wait a minute, I didn't mean it like that! I just mea-OW!

"I think you've said enough Ranma." Nabiki said holding the mallet which had somehow found its way into Ranma's face. "I'd rather you stopped insulting my husband for now. Especially since we're the ones who are paying for this vacation."

"Hey! What about me?" Akane said

"You're used to it." Nabiki said "I've seen you get your own back plenty of times. Tachi's never really managed to hold his own in these kind of things."

"I handled myself fairly well in that Kendo match." Tatewaki answered, lifting his head high.

"What Kendo match?" Ryoga asked "I thought we were talking about a cheerleading contest."

"Of course!" Tatewaki said "But Mariko was cheerleading for me during the Kendo competition against Seisyun High School."

Again, the room fell silent. "Hold on a moment." Tatewaki realised. "None of you remember? One of the biggest wins in my entire Kendo career and nobody in my own family remembers?" The awkward silence confirmed Tatewaki's suspicions. "There, there, Tachi." Nabiki said wrapping her arm around her husband's shoulders.

"Well, we're off to bed now!" Akari said getting up and pulling Ryoga up to his feet alongside her. Awkward... she thought to herself quickly turning around. "Good night everyone!"

Oh no, you don't. Akane internally screamed, jumping to her feet. You're not leaving us here alone like this. "We're off too." She added "We need to go check on the twins. Come on, Ranma. Kaori, don't stay up too late. You'll wake up your cousins."

"Kay, Mom." Kaori said lazily, without moving her gaze from her tablet screen.

"I thought my mom was looking after the twins tonight." Ranma started saying before being yanked down the hallway by his pigtail. "OW!"

"Shush, idiot!" Akane could be heard shouting from where Nabiki, Tatewaki and Kaori were still sitting.

"Well, I don't know about you dear," Nabiki said standing up and picking up her glass "But I could do with another drink. Kaori, do you want anything before bed?"

"No thanks, Auntie." Kaori said, tearing herself away from the screen for a moment and looking around the room "Hey, where did everyone go?"

Akane really needs to do something about that kid's screen time. Nabiki thought to herself, walking over to the bar and pouring herself another drink. "They've all gone to bed, sweetie." She answered "It's nearly 11 O'clock. You should probably go too. We're all going to the water park in the morning and the bus comes pretty early."

"Okay, Auntie." Kaori said, switching off her tablet and going off to bed.

After watching her leave, Nabiki sat back down next to Tatewaki, who was sat sulking. "You OK, sweetie?" she said wrapping her arm around her husband's shoulder.

"No one remembers a thing about the kendo match." He said holding his head in his hands. "It was one of the most important matches in my life!"

Unbeknownst to Tatewaki, Nabiki had also forgotten about the Kendo competition. But rather than add to her husband's worries, she decided it was best to pretend otherwise. "Well it was a long time ago now." She said, trying to reassure him. "A lot has happened since then for both Akane and Ranma. And Ryoga and Akari weren't even there at the time. At least I don't think Ryoga was anyway. Who can tell with his lousy sense of direction?"

And as though he were summoned, Ryoga appeared in the room, wearing only his underwear and holding a glass of water. "I'm sure our room was this way." He mumbled to himself before storming off to try again.

"See what I mean?" Nabiki said. "Anyway, it doesn't matter now. What matters is what you have now; A beautiful wife and two loving children."

Tatewaki smiled as said beautiful wife leaned against him. "I think it might be time for us to go to bed too" she said, stroking his thigh.

"Indeed it is my queen" Tatewaki said, valiantly scooping Nabiki up in his arms and carrying her off to bed.
