Bloom of the Isle of the Lost

On the Isle, the side of the barrier gets bombarded with magic from the inside as it has been since the day everyone realized that Mal and her friends were never going to return.

There's one spell after another, repeatedly hitting the barrier. It seems like a futile attempt. That is until a small tear appeared. A tear that was just big enough.

.oOo.

The entire school was in the middle of a dance.

"Oh, man!" a young boy with white hair shouts over the music.

Another boy with long dark hair wearing a stocking cap then wraps an arm around the de Vil's neck. "I love this!"

A blue haired girl with a tiara wearing fancy blue dress dances over with a kid with glasses. "I always enjoy a good Auradon party."

"Which they seem to happen often," a purple haired girl approaches them in a purple dress, arm and arm with a brown-haired boy in blue. "Tell me, Benny-Boo," she jokingly teases. "How do you guys manage to get things done if you're always celebrating something?"

Ben looks up in thought before shrugging. "I'm not sure, Mal. We somehow manage though."

Jay suddenly jumps between Mal and Ben, resting an arm over each of the couple's shoulder. "Kinda wish Bloom was here."

"Bloom?" Ben tilts his head. "Who's Bloom?"

Mal glares at Jay before walking away. "She's no one!"

Ben reaches out for her.

"Oh, M?" Evie walks up to them along with Carlos and Doug. The bluenette turns to the boy king. "Bloom is Mal's sister."

The son of Beauty and the Beast's eyes furrow in confusion and he opens his mouth, only to get interrupted by shouting.

"Mal!" the ballroom's doors are burst opened by magic as an angry girl with long messy red hair with a strip of blue highlights walks in. She's wearing a green leather jacket with patches of red, yellow, and blue "Mal!" the girl screams.

The entire room turns to the purplette who is currently over by the punch bowl. "Bloom!?"

Bloom's eyes shot over to where Mal is. "You…" magic forms in the redhead's hands. "…left me!" she throws magic at the purplette who lifts her hands up to but up a barrier and the all the nearby students scatter. "You were supposed to come back for me! But now with Mom gone, I have nothing on the Isle," she continues the barrage of spells. "Why did you leave!?"

"Because you were her favorite!" Mall screams as she pushes back and fires her own spell, that Bloom quickly puts up a barrier for. "You, who somehow had magic in the barrier got to spend so much time with Mom while she ignored me my entire life." Many of the AK's present gasp, noting the part where it was said that a VK had magic on the Isle. "With all her attention on you, it was evident who she loved."

"Trust me when I tell you that you don't want the kind of attention she gave me," Bloom tells her. "Because if that was love then I don't want it. Ever since I came into my magic, Mom would take to the edge of the Isle so I could blast the barrier, but I couldn't always cast the spell. We would remain there until I collapse and that's when it would start," Tears starts pouring down her face. "She would yell at me, insult me. Oh, the things she would say. But it gets worse. When I did manage a spell and it did nothing, she would beat me."

Mal flinches at that and then points out "You had magic. Which is much more than anyone else on the Isle had. "You could've kicked her out and be running everything when you were seven. So, why didn't you?"

"She was our mom!" Bloom snaps. "I just wanted her to be proud of me like you did. The only thing that got me through that nightmare was the fact that I still had you. And when I heard that you and the others were staying in Auradon, I thought for sure you'd come and get me. Even after the Evil Queen kicked me out of our home, I still had hope of seeing you again. It wasn't long before I realized that was never going to happen. So, I continued doing what Mom was teaching me to do," the redhead glares at her sister. "It took a while but I was finally strong enough to create a tear in the barrier. A small one. But it was just big enough to get a small rowboat through," Bloom laughs. "Funny enough, I don't think I would have been able to break out if you hadn't left me to rot on the island," she starts crying again. "And all I wanted was for you to come back for me. Why didn't you come back for me?"

"I was jealous," the purplette admits. "Mom often pretended I didn't exist. Only addressing me whenever it suits her," Mal starts crying herself. "And I hated you for that. It's not FAIR!" she yells that last part causing Bloom to flinch. "Not fair to you," the purplette turns to where her friends gathered along with Ben and Doug. "I recently learned that we are not our parents. What our Mom did is not your fault," the purplette walks up to the redhead. "I know that it may be too late to say sorry. But could we at least try again to be sisters?"

Bloom hugs Mal. "That's the only thing I've ever wanted."

Mal blinks a couple of times before embracing her sister with a smile. This was truly their first sister moment.

They were soon approached by the rest of the VK's, King Ben, and Doug.

When the two broke apart, Bloom turns to the young de Vill. "Carlos! Your mom misses you."

"She does?" the boy brightens for a moment, only to faulter at what was said next.

"She won't stop complaining that you need to take care of her bunions."

"Of course."

"Evie. I—" the redhead is cut off as a cloth is run over her face.

"Let me take care of that for you," the bluenette cleans up Bloom's face and then applies some of her emergency makeup. "There! All good," she then reveals her hand mirror.

"Woah! Is that me?"

"Yup!"

The redhead shakes her head. "I guess somethings never change." Bloom then turns to the son of Jafar. "Jay," she glares. "Everyone wants their stuff back."

Hearing this, Jay shrugs. "Figures," he then steps back as Bloom gets up close to him.

"That includes the lunch you owe me," she glares while poking his chest.

"Fine," the taller VK holds up his hands in defense with a smile. "I can treat you tomorrow. Sound good."

"It's a date," Bloom's eyes soften and then they widen. "Date!? Oh, right!" she turns back to Mal. "Zevon is still waiting for your guys' second date."

The VK's and Ben's eyes widened as they turn to Mal and the remaining AK's tilt their heads in confusion.

"Second date?" Mal questions. "We never had a first."

"He says that time you walked to class together counts."

"No! We just so happen to have walked into class at the same time," the purplette turns to Ben. "I was never anything with the son of Yzma. I promise you."

"Hey," Ben puts a hand on his girlfriend's shoulder. "I believe you."

"This him?" Bloom looks the boy king up and down.

"Bloom," Mal pulls Ben up to her sister. "This is Ben. King of Auradon and my boyfriend. My first and only boyfriend," she adds and emphasis to the word first. "And Ben, this here is Bloom. My sister," the purplette faces him to plead. "Can she please stay here in Auradon?"

"Sure," he nods before turning to the redhead. "There's just one problem."

.oOo.

The VK's, Ben, and Doug are now in Fairy Godmother's office along with the Headmistress herself.

Ben hands a file over to Mal who is sitting on a couch next to her sister. "Back when I was choosing candidates to attend Auradon Prep, one of the things I was concerned about was separating siblings," he explains. "I wanted to avoid that."

"But…" Mal opens the file to see it's about her. "You chose to bring me."

"I chose you because our records showed that Maleficent only has one child," he turns to Bloom. "So, who are you?"

Bloom looks down as the boy king said this.

"That can't be true!" Mal shoots out of her seat. "Bloom has been there my whole life. She's my sister! I'm not going to let her be sent back to that forsaken island!"

"Sweetie," Fairy Godmother speaks up. "We're not sending anyone to the Isle. I can promise you that. We're just confused."

"It makes sense now," Bloom speaks up. Her face resting in her hands. "The comments she made. About how she should have left me in the fire where she found me. How the fire should have taken me instead of dancing around me. That she would have never taken me in if she'd known I'd be worthless."

"Bloom," Mal sits next to her. "What are you saying?"

"I'm not really your sister," the redhead starts crying and Mal soon hugs her.

"You are my sister," the purplette comforts her. "I just accepted that, and I will not take it back. Ever."

That puts a smile on the redhead's face. "Thanks, Mal. But…" she turns to face Ben. "if Maleficent isn't my mother, then who is?"

"I honestly have no clue," he admits. "Back when I was trying to choose some VK's, I went through every record we had of all the children who are of age to attend the school. I will not say that I remember every one of those kids, but not once did I come across you. Bloom, I don't think you exist."

"But I do exist. I'm right here."

Fairy Godmother speaks up. "Excuse me, dear. You mentioned that fire was dancing around you?"

"Yeah," Bloom shrugs. "It must be how Mom knew I had magic."

FG sits in thought for a moment. "If I may?" the woman rises out of her seat and walks around towards Bloom with a hand held out.

Bloom glances at the offered hand before taking it. FG kneels in front of the teen and looks into her eyes.

"Oh my!" she pulls her hands away. "I sense a great deal of magic within you Bloom," the headmistress explains. "Good magic."

A resounding "What!?" left the mouth of everyone present.

"That's how you were able to cast spells on the Isle as the Barrier only prevents evil magic."

"If I have good magic, then how did I end up on the Isle?"

"I cannot say," Fairy Godmother admits. "You could have purposefully been sent there or perhaps it was merely a chance of fate."

"Fate must hate me then," Bloom looks down but then feels a hand on her shoulder. Looking back up, she sees her sister smiling at her. The causes the redhead to smile in return "At least they gave me you, Mal."

An "Aw!" left Fairy Godmother's mouth. "You two had a long evening," she then looks at all the other kids. "You all did. Why don't you go to your dorms for the night. Bloom, you can stay with Mal an Evie until we set you up with a proper roommate. Perhaps my daughter, Jane would volunteer."

Mal smiles at the woman. "Thank you, Fairy Godmother."

"No thanks necessary, dear. Two loving sisters shouldn't have been separated."

All the teens left the office except for King Ben. "Fairy Godmother."

"Yes, Ben?"

"Do you think you could maybe find out how Bloom got to the Isle?" he asks.

At the question, FG sighs. "That would be difficult. It almost sounded like she arrived on the Island from some sort of teleportation spell. If that is the case, then we would need to know the exact location of where she arrived at. Even then? After all this time, any remnants of magic we could have used to trace her origin would have faded a long time ago. Not even Yin Sid would be unable to help."

"So, you're saying it's hopeless?" the boy looks down.

"I wouldn't say that," the Headmistress adds. "Cinderella thought it was hopeless. So did Aladdin. Even Ariel. Your parents once thought so to." she explains. "Perhaps one day, that girl will learn who she truly is. It could be tomorrow or even years from now. All we can do now is to wait."

Ben nods. "I see your point," he then sighs. "But I guess the first thing we should address is that there's a hole in the barrier. Again."

"Already on it, Your Majesty," FG tells him. "I'm on my way to get my wand right now and I'll be over to see how bad this little tear is. I shall be back by morning announcements."

"Thank you, Fairy Godmother," the boy king smiles.
