Welcome back everyone!
Took a bit longer to get this chapter out since we got an idea after the last one and we wanted to put it down while we had it, and it's one that might be fun, but that you won't see for a long while.
Anyway, just before I uploaded this chapter, I actually went back and updated two chapters, specifically, Chapters 70 and 74, AKA the Tetermon and Raimon chapters, since I realised I had completely forgotten to note which piece of clothing on Ren, Jaune, Pyrrha, Pierce and Ruby had changed color, so I fixed that up and made sure it was noted now, sorry about that error everyone.
Anyway, hope you'll enjoy the surprise in this chapter!
Hyperspeed! The Speedermon Brothers!
On the way towards Mistral the RV had, as usual, little problems, even if the Grimm were attacking more often now, probably Salem trying to take out her frustrations on them for getting rid of her assassin.
"Man she's really spiteful isn't she?" Pierce said with a grin as he was driving the RV today, watching as Beowolves and Beringels tried to get in their path and halt them, only for Veemon to control the turrets from his seat next to him and mow them down.
"Yeah, she's really just one big baby that hates it when things go wrong." Veemon said with a disappointed shake of his head. "So, what's everyone else doing right now?"
"Well, didn't really ask everyone, but Gyro said he was going to help Oscar train, so they're in the training room making sure he can handle himself without having to hand the controls over to Ozpin, so to speak." Pierce said.
"Probably a good idea. Especially if he ends up roped into our usual brand of crazy," Veemon said, before blasting another Grimm. "You know, do we have a plan if she decides to send waves after waves of Grimm at us? One that doesn't involve basically spilling what we can do?"
"Oh that's easy," Pierce said, before hitting a switch to trigger the Shield Generator they'd installed, to which the Shield appeared around the RV, and proceeded to literally roast any Grimm that made contact with it.
"That makes life easier. Though...how long can that last?" Veemon frowned.
"Well, in the daytime, that's almost indefinite. Got a few solar panels incorporated into the roof and they're the main power supply. Night time though...probably a couple of hours. We MIGHT want to consider seeing if we can't bring the whole RV into the Digital World at night or something," Pierce mused.
"How's that coming along?" Veemon frowned.
"You'd better talk to Weiss and Tentomon on that one. They're the ones mainly fiddling with the Digital World equipment," Pierce said.
"Sounds great then," Veemon chuckled as he got off of the turrets, though still setting them to auto since you never know, and went to the computer room. Unsurprisingly, Weiss and Tentomon were there, checking on the situation in the Digital World.
"Oh hey, Veemon," Tentomon greeted, having noticed him coming.
"Yo, so how's things going over here?" Veemon asked, grabbing a free seat.
"Eh, same old, trying to figure out how to make everything work like usual. Still not sure how to get the whole RV through a gate without asking Gennai's help." Tentomon explained.
"We'd really like it if we weren't forced to always rely on his help, even though he IS giving it to us freely." Weiss sighed.
"Well, we MIGHT want to consider taking that help if push comes to shove," Veemon frowned.
"You're referring to the hordes of Grimm we've been having lately, yes?" Tentomon sighed, earning a small nod from Veemon.
"Hey, we're badasses, but unless we want to just fly over to wherever her castle is and wipe it off the face of Remnant, but in the process probably alert Salem and then she'll probably run away when things get hard, then yeah, we're probably gonna need to be able to hide from the Grimm hordes every now and then," Veemon sighed.
"On that note we all agree," Weiss sighed. "Still it WOULD be better if we could get this to work by ourselves," Weiss mused, before a thought hit her. "Hm...we have a shield generator that can project a barrier. Maybe if we find a way to project the gate outwards…"
Her train of thought was cut off though when a blinking alert appeared on the screen in front of her. "Hold that thought," she frowned and looked at what it was.
"What is it?" Veemon asked.
"It's...an SOS...from one of the King's Territory?" Tentomon blinked in surprise.
"Looking at the data… this one wouldn't normally send out an SOS either, it was one of the first territories he made, and one that willingly and peacefully joined him." Weiss noted, before frowning "That means somebody's attacking them."
"Almost definitely the Resistance, extremist faction probably," Tentomon said. "We'd better call everyone," he said, earning a nod from Weiss who did just that.
"So basically someone, probably some of the less than savory members of the Resistance, are attacking a peaceful area?" Wormmon frowned.
"That's what it seems like yeah," Tentomon nodded.
"Not to sound cold, but from what you told us, this is in territory that's under that Oren kid who's been calling himself a King in the Digital World. Shouldn't he handle stuff going on in his own territory?" Qrow asked, quirking an eyebrow. The group had given him and Oscar (and by extension Ozpin) the gist of the situation already.
"That's not what that's about Uncle Qrow." Ruby said with a shake of her head.
"It's about us doing the right thing and helping when innocent mon are under attack." Yang added.
"Besides, if anything, this might help make him realise his plan doesn't work as well as he wanted it too." Biyomon added.
Qrow blinked, before chuckling. "Sounds exactly like something she'd say," he said, referring to Summer. "Okay then, you kids are in the lead since you know how to do things. What's the plan?"
"The standard plan. We send in a team of 5 people and their Digimon Partners. Everyone else stays here in case we need backup and to keep watch on things on this end," Gyro said...before taking out the roulette. "And we use THIS to decide who goes."
Qrow, Oscar, and Huckmon looked at the roulette funny. "Uh...isn't that kind of dangerous to pick a team based on a random draw?" Oscar asked, Huckmon nodding in agreement.
"Not really. We all work together just fine, and it's the fastest way to choose. Besides, if an area has some special feature, then we'd pick someone who's abilities work best there," Keenan said, before he and Falcomon looked at the map. "Hey, isn't this…?"
"Yeah, I think it is," Falcomon blinked.
"Is something wrong with that area?" Salamon asked.
"Not really, but we're pretty sure this area is over a rather extensive underground system. We've been in there a couple of times, but we quickly got lost and had to use Keenan's Semblance to get out," Falcomon frowned.
"Underground? That means Weiss will have to go then," Jaune mused, earning a nod of agreement from Weiss.
"Right, ForceBeemon would be great for underground exploration if push comes to shove," she said.
"Anyone else is going to be hit and miss if we have to go in there, so I guess we can randomize the rest," Agumon said as he loaded up the balls into the roulette, and Veemon started turning it. The team that was formed revealed to be Rusty, Bemmon, Penny, Monodramon, Pyrrha and Gabumon.
Before they could spin it one last time, Gyro held up a hand "Actually, for the last member, how about we have Oscar and Huckmon get their first field mission?"
"Wait...me?!" Oscar gasped in surprise.
"Hey, that's a great idea," Ruby agreed. "Everyone else on the team has a Digimental, and Penny is well...Penny, and yes I mean that in a good way," she said the last bit a bit awkwardly earning a few amused chuckles.
"She's right though. You'd be safe in a solid team like this," Pierce agreed.
"And it IS good experience," Huckmon said.
"Well...if you say so," Oscar said, a bit unsure still but he didn't have an actual argument.
"It's settled then," Gyro nodded as they prepared the Digital Gate.
When they came out of the gate, Oscar shook his head a bit "Well… that was disorienting." he said, before noticing Weiss, Rusty and Pyrrha's clothing "Hey, home come your clothes changed color?"
"Oh, this? It's just something that happens for some reason for those with crests it seems." Weiss said as she looked down to her clothes and shrugged "Probably just Yggdrasil wanting Digimon to know who we are faster."
"Huh… alright." he said after a moment.
"Alright, so what are we gonna be dealing with now?" Huckmon asked as they started walking.
"Normally? Listen out for the explosions," Gabumon sighed. Right on cue an explosion was heard from not far away.
"Yep, that's where we're headed," Bemmon snorted in amusement.
"How often do things get blown up around here?" Oscar asked morbidly.
"Enough that that's our sign to head there," Rusty shrugged. "Come on, let's go."
The group soon followed the explosions and arrived to see a town that was under attack. "That's our destination," Pyrrha said.
"So...what do we do now?" Huckmon asked.
"Honestly? Unless its a siege or a defended location, we just charge," Gabumon shrugged...to which Penny took out her Scroll and played a cavalry horn, to which all of them save Oscar and Huckmon charged straight at the town.
"...are we really going to be okay?" Oscar groaned, to which Huckmon could just shrug helplessly.
Oren frowned as he and his forces rushed towards the source of the SOS. When he arrived…
"Huh, so they got here before us," Lopmon mused, referring to the Chosen who were helping with the defenses and fighting to push back the attackers.
"Well that's actually better for us," Oren chuckled, as he directed his troops to go lower. Opening fire, they threw the enemy forces into disarray, while he, Lopmon, and Terriermon jumped off of their vehicle and landed not far away from the Chosen. "Sorry I'm late. I appreciate the help holding the line," he said good naturedly.
"Glad you could make it." Rusty said with a nod "These guys are pretty persistent."
"Yes, I can see that." Oren said as he looked towards the enemy forces "In that case, I think you all should go full force." he said, bringing up his scroll and started tapping away at it.
"Good, time to see how they like fighting two Ultimates." Raimon said as he, Vanguamon and ForceBeemon reverted to Child.
Oren continued tapping at his scroll, before frowning "That's… odd." he said in confusion.
"What is it?" Weiss asked him in concern.
"I can't seem to be able to access the controls for this tower." he said, before gasping when his scroll suddenly sparked, and the tower itself soon started sparking as well, before going from it's normal bright crystalline color, to a dark black color "What's the meaning of this?!"
"If I had to guess? I think you just got hacked!" Tentomon said in alarm.
"Wait, someone can actually hack into your system?" Monodramon asked in surprise.
"That...can't be good," Penny gulped.
"What does that mean for us?" Oscar asked, a bit worried.
"It just means we gotta keep fighting as we are!" Pyrrha said, shooting another enemy.
"My forces are also ready for combat. We'll do what we can!" Oren added.
"Great, we'll aim for-!" Gabumon would have said, if not for several stray shots headed their way which went wide and hit the ground, shaking it up a lot.
"I think we should deal with whoever is sending those first!" Oscar gasped, before several more hit the area, but this time they had an effect. The ground was weakened a lot from the impacts and explosions, and as a result a number of cracks started to spread all over, and before anyone could properly react, a section of the ground caved in...taking Oren and his partners...as well as Weiss with it, causing them to fall into the ground.
"I knew this structure hazard would be a problem!" Terriermon managed to shout before they all fell out of sight, everyone too rattled by the continued explosions and tremors to be able to react in time to help anyone.
"Weiss!" Tentomon shouted down into the hole before it collapsed on itself.
When Weiss came to, it was due to a few water droplets falling on her cheek. Groaning in annoyance, she sat up, rubbing the back of her head. "Normally I'd say I don't want to do that again, but I don't think the Digital World is THAT kind," she groaned. Once her vision returned properly, she looked around and noticed that not only was it very dark, but she was probably in some kind of cave. Taking out her Scroll, she switched on the flashlight. "Well this is a fine mess," she groaned, taking out her Digivice and trying to contact the others but… "No signal. Why am I not surprised?" she sighed in annoyance.
"That's because aside from signals naturally being weaker underground, this particular area has it even worse," came Oren's voice, to which she turned and saw him walk from one of the paths, also using his Scroll as a flashlight, Terriermon and Lopmon with him.
"And unfortunately we've all fallen in here...and we're still in range for the Tower's effects," Lopmon frowned.
"Yeah… probably means I can't remotely make Tentomon armor evolve. Still… that attacking force was too well prepared if they were able to take over your tower." Weiss frowned.
"Yes, I was thinking the same." Oren frowned in concern.
"Your stuff's almost impossible to hack, they'd need some super cheat codes to be able to do it." Terriermon said.
"Or its as I've feared. It seems there's a traitor in our midst," Oren frowned.
"That would make sense. If we have a traitor in our midst, then they'd be able to get access to the code used for your programs. After that it's simply a matter of finding someone with enough skill and they'd be able to pick it apart," Lopmon frowned.
"Well, one person would come to mind… but I think if he was capable of it, he'd have been more obvious about it." Weiss frowned as she thought of Watts. His ego was so big, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from gloating if he managed to hack Oren's systems.
"That's unfortunately not helpful in this situation," Oren sighed. "Well, nothing we can do about it now. Our only option is to find our way out of these caverns."
"Truce?" Weiss suggested.
"Until we get out of here? Yep," Terriermon nodded.
"More like until we drive away those attackers." Lopmon corrected his brother.
"I'm more focused on getting out of here, but that too," Terriermon sweat dropped a bit.
"At any rate, Terriermon IS right in saying we need to get out of here first," Oren said. "If nothing else this place seems rather…" he trailed off...right before a tremor hit and the sound of something smashing through walls somewhere else was heard. "...I didn't even get to say it…"
"You thought it. That was good enough," Weiss deadpanned, to which his partners both nodded in agreement.
Oren sighed at that, before the group continued through the tunnel, making use of their Scrolls to see ahead.
"Let's hope whatever was making those sounds doesn't find us," Terriermon gulped a bit.
"Here's hoping," Lopmon frowned in agreement.
"This place is way bigger than it should be," Terriermon groaned.
"You say that like you even knew how big it is in the first place," Weiss said with a quirked eyebrow.
"Ignore him. When things are unpleasant, he likes to complain a bit. Makes him feel better," Oren sighed.
"Too bad it's still annoying," Lopmon lightly glared at his brother.
"Quite a lively duo you got here," Weiss snorted in amusement.
"They're quite something aren't they?" Oren chuckled.
The group continued onward, till they saw what appeared to be a light from one of the tunnels. "Someone else is here?" Terriermon blinked.
"Could be, but if they are, are they friend or foe?" Lopmon frowned.
"Everyone be quiet. If they ARE foe, we'll not want to alert them," Oren frowned, Weiss nodding in agreement, the group creeping towards the light, and carefully peeking around the corner.
They saw a group of Digimon standing there, led by a rabbit shaped Digimon it seems, one with brown fur, long ears that actually became blades, and a large pair of gloves on his front paws that each bore three large red claws.
"A Prairiemon." Oren noted, with Weiss quickly bringing up the Analyzer at that.
Digimon Analyzer: Prairiemon
Prairiemon. Vaccine Type. An Adult Level Beast Digimon. It spends its time burrowing in dry land, and is able to dig underground at a speed of 100 km/h. Apparently, it has a habit of sunbathing in groups on days with fine weather. Special attack is Sonic Ear, vibrating the blades on his head up to the speed of sound before attacking the enemy with them.
"Certainly mildly dangerous." Weiss noted with a frown, before putting her Scroll away for now as they watched what was going on.
They could see some sort of black stone jutting down from the ceiling, a Mechanorimon connected to it through a bunch of cables coming out his body.
"I admit, I had my doubts at first," the Prairiemon chuckled. "But this new program worked better than I could have imagined. I just wish I could have seen the look on that phony King's face when his precious Tower got hijacked," they laughed. "But then I imagine that won't compare to what this program can really do," they smirked.
"I don't like the sound of that," Weiss frowned.
"That makes four of us," Oren frowned, the group ducking back into the corner. "So we know they hijacked my Tower...and I think I know what they might be planning and if I'm right this...could be a serious problem."
"The Towers are also connected to the main system," Lopmon frowned.
"And if they take them over, they could hack right into the main system. They could take over the entire Kingdom," Terriermon gasped.
"That's VERY bad." Weiss said with wide eyes "I may not approve of what you're doing, but you're at least not a tyrant, so I'd rather have you in charge of your kingdom."
"Thank you." Oren said with a nod, even as he frowned in worry.
"First things first, we gotta stop the hacking. Good thing there's only one of them," Terriermon said.
"One of who?" came a voice...from behind them.
"...everybody don't make any sudden moves. When I give the signal. Run," Weiss said for a moment before… "Now!" she shouted, creating a Glyph that launched whatever Digimon was behind them away, the group charging towards the terminal with the Prairiemon...only for the walls to suddenly break, revealing several Drimogemon and a couple more Prairiemon. The group comically hit the breaks before they were soon running the opposite direction.
"Get them!" the Prairiemon hacker ordered, the rest of them soon running after them.
What followed could be only described as a somewhat comical chase, where they were running through all sorts of tunnels, with their pursuers apparently never considering trying to head them off or something.
As a result everyone quickly lost track of where they were going, so much so that they probably double backed, triple backed even once or twice, and even went through a set of tunnels that apparently didn't follow logic as they scrambled all over the place, that is until Weiss paused and looked at everyone running around like that ONE scene the brothers had shown her from scooby-doo.
"Oh to hell with this." she hissed in annoyance when she realised they were doing a bit, before grabbing Oren and his partners, dragging them behind a corner while shushing them.
Fortunately it seemed their pursuers weren't very bright, as in the confusion they completely lost track of them, and soon walked off trying to find them again. "Thank you for stupid henchmon," Weiss said in amusement as they walked out of the small area they'd ducked into.
"Yeah, if they'd actually been smart they might have found us," Terriermon agreed.
"And hopefully with this the hacking room is unguarded," Oren nodded...until he realized another problem. "But...where exactly is it?" he frowned.
The others opened their mouths...and promptly closed them because they also realized they were basically lost.
"...shit," Lopmon summed up.
"Backtracking won't do us any good since we just ran around to try and lose them." Weiss frowned, before she started pacing back and forth.
"And we'll have to be careful heading forward to avoid being spotted by them again." Oren added.
But at the same time we can't be TOO careful, otherwise who knows what they might do if we don't hurry? They might decide to try and collapse the whole cave system to sink the town above it." Weiss said in worry.
Oren sighed as she said that "I really should make this town relocate farther away, that's far too much of a risk now that those resistance groups would try to attack it despite being a peaceful village."
"We REALLY need to talk to the Resistance about cells like this. They're more dangerous than the so-called threat they claim to be fighting against," Weiss sighed.
"Glad to know you don't consider my army as much of a threat...I think," Oren sweat dropped.
"We fought our way through Devimon, Etemon, Myotismon, and then the Dark Masters. In that order. You're not even close," Weiss sighed.
"And that's a good thing," the twin Digimon chuckled in amusement.
Weiss shook her head in amusement while Oren sweat dropped a bit "You're not evil Oren. But you ARE going about this the wrong way. I can agree that the Digital World could use a bit more order, but too much of it, and things WILL go bad eventually. You can see some of that today."
Oren sighed at that "I… I understand what you're saying. But, I still believe I'm doing this the right way, and nothing will change that."
"Alright, if that's what you believe." Weiss sighed "Just be careful. This world's power is from its possibility. If you close yourself off to that possibility, you're inviting danger to yourself in the future."
Oren didn't say anything, but Weiss took that as him hearing her and thus continued onward.
"Watch your step. This place isn't really all that stable," Lopmon frowned, noting a few pebbles falling from above.
"Well we ran that much. It SHOULD be alright," Weiss frowned...right as she took a step, and cracks started spreading. "...don't say it," she deadpanned...right before the floor gave out under her and Oren.
"Oren!" Terriermon shouted into the hole.
"Ow… we're fine… it was a short drop." Oren called back up, before using his scroll light to look around "Looks like it's just a lower tunnel, it probably comes back up to you guys further up ahead."
"The walls of this one are too loose and steep to climb back up from." Weiss said as she grabbed at the wall of the hole they fell through and the stone just crumbled in her grip "Better to walk through the path. Meet us up ahead you two." she called up to them.
"Will do." Lopmon nodded, before he and Terriermon ran up ahead to try and find the exit to that hole.
"Guess it's just the two of us," Oren sighed.
"Seems like it," Weiss said, readying her Scroll again. But when she did, she noticed something. "That's strange, I'm getting some kind of signal. Looks like there might be something deeper inside."
"What kind of signal?" Oren asked curiously.
"I'm not sure yet. It's still rather fuzzy." Weiss admitted with a frown, before she lowered her scroll a bit "Come on, hopefully it'll be something helpful."
"I'll cross my fingers." Oren said before he followed after her "By the way, if you don't mind my curiosity… about what happened with your father, Jacques Gele…"
"I've long stopped considering that man my father." Weiss answered plainly "My butler Klein has always been more of a father figure to me."
Oren was silent for a good moment "Well… that answers my question." he said, being silent for a good moment until he spoke up again "How IS your family turning out now that Mr. Gele is out of the picture?"
"Well, mom's been making the SDC a much more respectable company than it was before. Every Faunus slave has been turned into a proper employee with a pay equal to that of their human coworkers, and every racist human worker has been fired, and she makes sure extensive background checks are run on people now, so that their stance on Faunus is either positive or neutral at best. As well, she's started hiring Digimon to help with the more dangerous mines, and they're easy to pay, since they accept payment in food mostly." Weiss said, remembering a chat she had with her mother just a few days ago and her telling her about the changes she'd managed to bring so far.
"Most of them do go for food the majority of the time yes." Oren nodded, seeing the logic.
"As for my brother, now that my sperm donor's no longer around, he's started becoming much more respectable, and mom is having him help her out actively to teach him the ropes just in case I decide to NOT inherit, since in her eyes, I'm still the heir." she added "As for my sister, I saw her not too long ago, and she said things were going well, but that she had a bad feeling that something big might happen in Atlas soon, and she wasn't sure of what it could be."
Oren hummed at that "I'll see if I can't dig up anything. I made the firewalls that Atlas uses right now, so I should be able to dig up information. You've got me rather curious now."
"Well, you've probably seen their records of their exploration of the Digital World. I think it might be related to that." Weiss told him.
"Well, they ARE all the way in WWW. Far enough that they probably have no idea about us," Oren mused.
"And hopefully it stays that way for a while. We're not really interested in finding out what the whole 'holding relics of great power' thing will lead some people to doing," Weiss sighed.
"I'd like to think General Ironwood would be more reasonable than that, but I can't deny there are likely to be more than a few who'd want to see if they could use the Crests for their own ends," Oren frowned.
"Even more reason to keep them away from anyone else. I can see the possible benefits that could happen, but considering one wrong move might leave us with an even bigger catastrophe, it's just not worth the risk," Weiss sighed. The two descended into an uncomfortable silence… before Weiss noticed what the signal was. "This...it's a Digimental?" she gasped in surprise.
"Those egg shaped things you've all been using to bypass my towers?" Oren asked curiously.
"Well, we need SOMETHING to be able to fight. Sure, the Digimon can handle an Adult when they fight in Child now, as long as they're working in a team that is, but the Armor level let's us be just about halfway between Adult and Perfect." Weiss explained to him.
"I see…" Oren hummed at that, before they continued following the signal, eventually seeing light further ahead of the tunnel.
"This better not open up to the pearly gates or I swear to Oum…" Weiss sighed as she went ahead with Oren quickly behind her, the two eventually stepping out into a chamber that had natural lighting all around it with glowing crystals, several holes in the walls that were very likely tunnels, and right in the center was a crystal pillar with what had to be a Digimental standing on it, appearing silver in color and looking a bit bulky compared to all the others, a pair of metallic wing protrusions on the back… and the crest on it was the Crest of Fate.
"Wait… this is…!" Oren gasped at seeing it.
"YOUR Digimental…" Weiss said in shock, never expecting him to have one too.
"Hey! I hear voices!" they heard Terriermon's voice from one of the tunnels, before he soon appeared at the exit of it "Yes! Hey Lopmon! They're here!" he turned back and shouted into the tunnel.
"I'm coming!" Lopmon's voice shouted back, before his twin arrived running, letting out a sigh "MUST you run ahead all the time?"
"Nah, you're just too slow," Terriermon teased. "But who cares? We found Oren!"
"And you two arrived at the perfect time," Oren chuckled, before walking over to the Digitmental, and picked it up without issue, confirming that it did indeed belong to him.
"The activation phrase is 'Digimental Up!'," Weiss said. "Though… be careful WHERE you use that. No telling HOW big whoever you use the Digimental on will be after he Evolves," she cautioned.
"Thanks for the advice, but I don't think we have a choice right now. This might be our only chance of fighting back," Oren said, before raising the Digimental. Taking a moment to mentally pick which of his partners to use it on, he called out "Digimental Up!" The Digimental started to glow...and then promptly fizzled out.
…oh hey, they didn't know crickets lived down here…
"That's...not usually supposed to happen, right?" Oren asked a bit awkwardly to which Weiss shook her head, just as confused as he was.
"Anything in particular you think you were doing?" Weiss asked.
"Not really...all I did was think about Terriermon when I did that. I figured he'd be a good choice to try this out," Oren said.
"Awww, you shouldn't have," Terriermon jokingly said, even going as far as to look bashful for the joke...earning a light dope slap from Lopmon, though Lopmon himself looked amused too.
"Perhaps you should try that on me," Lopmon said.
"Well, it couldn't hurt," Oren shrugged and repeated the process. Same result. "...okay, any other ideas?"
Weiss thought about it for a moment. "Hm...why not try using it on both of them? I mean...they're BOTH your partners so…"
"It's...worth a shot," Oren nodded before raising the Digimental, focusing on both his partners and calling out "Digimental Up!" for the third time.
(Play 'Break Up!')
The black void appeared with data spinning around as well as the Crest of Fate, followed by the Digimental of Fate as well as Terriermon and Lopmon, before they settled on opposite sides of the void, spinning.
"Terriermon…!"
"Lopmon…!"
Both called out together as they began to spin faster.
"Armor Evolution!" they called out as they and the Digimental made contact. A flash of light occurred as the two were covered in a glowing crystal seemingly made of light, behind them were faded images of Gargomon and Turuiemon, followed by two more sets of silhouettes. The crystal soon shattered, revealing the new Digimon from within.
The two looked almost identical, save for fur color beneath the silver armor that covered their torsos, head, arms, feet and ears, with one of the two having Terriermon's white fur while the other had Lopmon's brown fur, even sporting the same number of horns still, both being just a BIT taller than their previous forms "Lightspeed Destiny! Speedermon!" they called out together.
Digimon Analyzer: Speedermon
Speedermon. Vaccine Type. A pair of Armor Level Cyborg Digimon. A Terriermon and Lopmon that evolved through the power of the Digimental of Fate, becoming far more agile and obtaining enhanced power thanks to it. Digimon that don this Digimental will become faster, to the point of being able to move at the speed of light, or so rumors go. Special attacks are Dual Barrage, flying around the enemy quickly as they rain down shots of light energy upon them, and Spiral Crash, spinning like a top as the two charge into their enemies. NOTE: The white furred one is Speedermon T and the brown furred one is Speedermon L.
"Whoa, this is kinda strange," Speedermon T said.
"But it's bound to be useful," Speedermon L mused.
"Certainly so if you're as fast as the Analyzer says." Weiss said with a nod.
Speedermon T hummed as he appeared behind her shoulder, reading the entry, before chuckling "There's one thing the Analyzer doesn't mention though."
"Hm? What's that?" Weiss asked, wondering what Speedermon T meant.
"He means that we're two Digimon that can become one," Speedermon L said, to which both of them promptly demonstrated, and the ensuing Digimon had aspects that could be best described as a 'hoverbike' of sorts.
"Well then, it seems us finding this Digimental was very fortunate indeed," Oren grinned a bit. Shortly after he was on Speedermon, with Weiss sitting behind him. "Let's put that speed to good use, but drive safely please," he chuckled.
"You got it!" both halves of Speedermon grinned, before rocketing forward down one of the tunnels.
Weiss blinked in thought as she looked down at Speedermon a bit, before looking back ahead.
Wasn't this like that ONE movie Gyro talked about? Star something?
"This place really is all over the place sometimes." she muttered.
"Hmm?" Oren hummed in confusion.
"Nothing, nevermind." she said, before they continued to speed through the tunnels, until they started to hear noise up ahead.
"I think that is something we should check out. Especially if it's what we think it is," Speedermon said.
"If it's the hackers again, don't hesitate," Oren said simply, earning a nod from Speedermon.
They were soon upon the room, and true enough it was indeed the room where the Hackers were at work, the Prairiemon in still busy at work trying to hack into his mainframe. "Hey, that's private property you're messing with there!" Speedermon called to them, before firing a shot. The Prairiemon saw the shot coming and scrambled to get away...which left the Mechanorimon wide open as it was blasted, with it deactivating and ending the hack.
"Hey!" the Prairiemon shouted indignantly. "We were just making more progress! Security!" they shouted, to which several Drimogemon got into the room.
"Looks like we got a fight on our hands," Speedermon said, before splitting up into Speedermon T and L.
"Focus on fighting. We'll support," Weiss said as she and Oren drew their weapons.
"No problem," Speedermon T said, before the two...moved.
"...they may not be as fast as UlforceVeedramon, but they are definitely fast," Weiss blinked as the two Speedermon halves rebounded all over the room, striking the Drimogemon from practically every angle...and this was just a physical set of attacks. Remembering the Analyzer, they had a lot more. True enough…
"Dual Barrage!" both of them called out, as they were soon flying around and shooting the Drimogemon from every angle, so much so that it wasn't long before the Drimogemon fell to the ground, fur singed and eyes swirly.
The Prairiemon tried going for the humans, but both of them were trained Hunters and they had weapons with Chrome Digizoid. It...wasn't a very long fight either, ending with the Prairiemon out cold.
"Can you access your Towers now from here?" Weiss asked.
"I'll try," Oren said, taking out his Scroll as he started working near the access port.
As he continued to tap, he groaned, punching a wall "Dammit! I'm completely locked out from this tower! It's like whatever program they used changed it's codes down to the very core!"
Weiss frowned at that, before looking at the portion of the tower that was sticking out of the ground "I think that means there's only one option at this point."
Oren was silent for a moment, before hanging his head with a sigh "You're right… dammit. Speedermon! Destroy this… this damnable Dark Tower!" he told his partners.
"You got it!" both halves nodded, before joining together and began spinning. "Spiral Crash!" they called out, aiming right for under the tower, basically drilling through the ground as they broke through it.
Up above ground, the Dark Tower shook...and promptly broke apart as Speedermon shot out through it.
"And that's our way out! Ms. Schnee, if you would?" Oren said, earning a nod from Weiss who proceeded to make a line of Glyphs which served as stepping stones for them to run up the wall and out of the cave.
(Song End)
When they managed to reach the top, they were just in time to see the last of the Resistance forces being thrown out of the village. Literally. By WereGarurumon and Cyberdramon.
"Good riddance to bad garbage." Cyberdramon growled out, before he and WereGarurumon reverted to Child.
"Hey, if you think that was good, you should see what we did down below." Speedermon said before splitting into two, followed by glowing as as they shrunk back to their previous forms, with the light flying off into Oren's scroll.
"Wait… was that…?" Rusty trailed off when they approached after seeing them in the center of town.
"Yeah… Oren here has a Digimental too." Weiss said with a sigh.
"If it helps, I'm as surprised as you all are." Oren admitted.
"Yeah… I can see why you would be." Pyrrha said a bit awkwardly.
Oren nodded, before looking around, frowning a bit "They certainly caused a bit of damage… I suppose this is just more reason for me to relocate the town." he said, before turning to the group and offering a small smile "But, still, thank you for assisting me today."
"It was our pleasure Oren. We're just doing our duty as Hunters after all, just in a different world." Weiss smiled back at him.
"We'll leave you to start work with the townspeople, we still need to make sure we're heading for Mistral after all." Rusty said, tipping his hat at him.
Oren blinked at that "You're… telling me where you'll be?"
"Because we know you're not going to try to use it against us." Pyrrha told him "We know you're a good person after all."
Oren was surprised for a moment, before he smiled "Thank you."
And there!
Bet you didn't expect Oren to get his own Digimental then and there huh?
I mean, even Ken in canon only got his in a Drama CD.
But, yeah, we also have the first try Dark Tower in this chapter, and I'msure you're all wondering what this means, yeah? Well, you'll find out eventually, because for now...
