Author's Note: Tucker's theory about why Lubek works as an educator is just a theory. I've never seen anything in canon to either prove or disprove it.
Chapter 2: The Bald and the Boo-tiful
After the game ended, Danny and his friends readied themselves to leave when Dash Baxter interrupted them. "Fenturd, you'll pay for making us lose!" The bully said.
"Are you blaming me for your loss?" Danny asked in outrage. "I was just a viewer."
"You jinxed us when you bought enemy food, Fenton." Dash accused Danny and the jocks with him nodded.
"Are you for real?" Sam asked.
"Stay out of it, Manson." Dash demanded. "That's between me and your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend!" Sam shouted while Danny shouted "She's not my girlfriend!"
"Baxter!" They heard Coach Tetslaff calling for them. "You and your team lost and you know what that means."
"Don't think we'll forget this, Jinx Fenton." Dash said as he and the other jocks walked away.
"Cover up for me, guys." Danny told his friends. "I'm going to spy on Lubek." After walking away, he went ghost and became invisible. He approached Lubek and heard his end of a phone conversation.
"You got him?" Lubek asked. "Good. Take him to the agreed place. I'll meet you there after taking ze students back to ze hotel."
Danny followed Lubek and they eventually arrived at the abandoned No Mercy (originally North Mercy but some letters fell off the sign) Hospital. 'Good thing Tucker didn't come.' Danny thought.
"Thank you for freeing me, Mr. Lubek." Danny and Lubek heard from someone whose voice the former recognized.
"That's "King Lubek" or "Great One" to you, Freakshow." One of Lubek's followers said.
"For as long as he knows vat makes him useful to us, I'll let that slide." Lubek commented.
"And how may this humble master of ceremonies be of use to you, great one?" Freakshow asked, resentment evident on how he mentioned 'great one'.
"I've received intelligence that you have one half of an amulet that allows its wearer to control ghosts." Lubek explained. "I vill use an army of ghosts to retake my place as ze King of Zoravia."
"I can give it to you but it'll be of no use without the other half, great one." Freakshow happily replied, liking to see Lubek being taken down a peg.
"Do you mean zis other half?" Lubek asked with a malicious smile as he showed half of a necklace.
"Exactly." Freakshow answered.
"Great." Lubek said. "Now take me to your half."
Danny was about to make himself visible when he heard someone shout "Not so fast, Lubek!"
'Natasha?' Danny wondered as he saw two new characters wearing black outfits and black masks.
"You again?" Lubek asked in annoyance. "Get them!" He ordered his subordinates while he and Freakshow ran away. Once Danny realized Natasha and her friend, whom he figured out to be good guys since they're opposing Lubek, were holding their own against the other bad guys, he placed himself in front of Lubek and Freakshow. "Going somewhere?" Danny asked with a smile.
"We're powerless against him without my half, Lubek." Freakshow whispered to the outvoted King.
"Speak for yourself!" Lubek said as he drew a laser gun and shot Danny with it. Since Danny wasn't expecting Lubek to have any kind of anti-ghost weaponry, he didn't avoid it. "Hacking Fentonworks' computers was totally worth it. Freakshow, are we too far from your half of ze amulet?"
Before the ringmaster could reply, the Zoravian spies knocked down him and Lubek. "Are you okay, Danny Phantom?" Natasha asked.
"Yes, Natasha." Danny answered, briefly forgetting it's the first time she met him as Phantom.
Natasha frowned. "How do you know my name?" She asked. "The only Danny I ever introduced myself to is…"
At that moment, Danny was so weakened by Lubek's weapon he reverted back to Danny Fenton. "Uh, nobody saw that, right?" He unconvincingly asked.
"Wrong." Natasha's companion answered.
"Danny, my friend and I filmed Lubek's interaction with Freakshow but cannot present it to the authorities without allowing them to know Zoravian spies are operating on American soil." Natasha explained. "If an American vigilante with no official ties to either Government presents the evidence, however…"
"Got it." Danny replied as he felt himself better enough to go ghost again. "But we're gonna discuss knowing each other's secrets later."
"Meet me at the hotel where my school's staying in." Natasha replied. "Do you know where it is?"
"Yes." Danny answered, not wanting to get into details regarding how he knew.
The next day, before going to meet Natasha, Danny met his friends at the Nasty Burger. "So, are you saying that girl is a Zoravian spy sent to stop Lubek and now she knows you're…" Sam said until Danny interrupted her.
"Yes, Sam." Danny answered.
"Does she have a sister?" Tucker asked with a smile.
"She's an only child, Tucker." Danny replied.
"Assuming you can take a spy's word for it." Sam muttered. "But why would Zoravia send a minor to spy on Lubek?"
"Because Lubek would likely recognize any adult spies his brother could've sent." Tucker answered, attracting his friends' attention. "Thanks to his former position as head of the Zoravian Spy Academy, he'd recognize practically every adult spy his brother could have sent after him. Not to mention loyalty issues considering Lubek trained them."
"Fair enough but at least you found out before becoming an official couple." Sam commented.
"Well, if she's not reassigned, we still have a chance." Danny replied. "Anyway, I'm meeting Natasha right now. Bye."
"What did Danny say her name was?" Tucker asked, recognizing the name.
Danny eventually arrived at the hotel and found Natasha waiting for him at the reception. "Did I take too long?" Danny asked.
"No, Danny." Natasha answered. "I've just finished my breakfast."
"So, what do we do now, Natasha?" Danny asked.
"Is there a place where we can talk without bring noticed?" Natasha asked back.
Minutes later, they were at a park. "So, Tucker told me Lubek would 'recognize practically every adult spy' King Carl could've sent." Danny commented. "Weren't your parents worried? Are they okay with the King putting you in danger?"
"Well, my Dad objected on the grounds I'm so young I don't even have a driver's license but, other than that, they didn't object when I volunteered." Natasha answered, carefully wording her answer as not to reveal she's the Princess of Zoravia.
"Amazing!" Danny was impressed.
"What about you, Danny?" Natasha asked. "How did you get your powers?"
Danny then explained about the lab accident. "And your parents never suspected a thing?" Natasha asked.
"Nope." Danny answered. "So, I suppose you'll be reassigned somewhere else now that Lubek has been captured."
"The King won't assign a minor to anything he can send adult spies instead, Danny." Natasha replied. "And I'll likely stay in America until the end of the school year."
"Then we can get to know each other better?" Danny hopefully asked.
"Well, I must be back at the hotel by noon so I can take the bus back to Zoravia, Illinois." Natasha told Danny. "What do you think we can do until then, Danny?"
"Well, besides enjoying the view here, we can go to the Nasty Burger." Danny suggested.
"Nasty?" Natasha asked in disgust.
"Don't let the name mislead you, Natasha." Danny replied. "They actually taste good. Unless, of course, you have a problem with eating burgers not made of yak meat."
"Well, I suppose there's a first time for everything." Natasha stated.
"Fentonio, I didn't forget what I said last night." Dash said as he approached Danny and Natasha.
"But you forgot dogs aren't allowed in this park, Dash." Danny replied.
"That's none of your business, Fenton." Dash said. "You're not a cop."
"But I am." A cop said as he revealed his presence. "And I already told you to keep that dog out of this park."
Taking their cue, Danny and Natasha left before Dash was free to go after them. "So, Nasty Burger?" Danny asked.
"Nasty Burger." Natasha answered.
The two teenagers then went to the Nasty Burger and, after tasting a burger, Natasha decided Danny was right. "Yeah, Danny. Those burgers are great. They're not made of yaks but they're good."
"Natasha, I'm sorry if it's too soon for you but, would you like to be my girlfriend?" Danny asked.
"Some people would say it is too soon but, you're such a nice guy I say yes." Natasha replied.
"Yeah!" Danny screamed.
"What happened?" Sam asked as she and Tucker entered the Nasty Burger.
"Natasha just agreed to become my girlfriend!" Danny said, shocking Sam.
"Congratulations, Prince Danny." Tucker said.
"Uh, why did you call me that, Tucker?" Danny asked in confusion.
"Because Natasha is the name of Zoravia's Crown Princess and he refuses to believe it's just a coincidence." Sam answered with a frown.
"I've brought several souvenirs from Zoravia." Tucker said as he opened his wallet. He showed his friends and Natasha a Zoravian bill and Natasha's face was on it.
'No need to worry.' Natasha thought. 'If people in Zoravia, Illinois failed to make the connection, Danny and his friends won't do it either.'
But, as she noticed them staring at her, she realized she was wrong. Her thoughts were interrupted by a Nasty Burger employee laughing. "Good one, Foley! I almost believed you."
"What're you talking, Valerie?" Tucker asked.
"You and your friends pretending to think that girl is a Princess instead of just having the same name as her." Valerie answered. "Hilarious!"
"So true." Princess Natasha played along. "Well, I'd stay to discuss it more but I must be back at the hotel by noon or I'll miss the bus back to Zoravia, Illinois."
"I'll take you there, Princess." Danny added, jokingly calling his girlfriend 'Princess'.
As they walked away from Nasty Burger, Danny started addressing his worried. "So, you're really the Princess of Zoravia?" He asked Natasha.
"Yep." Natasha replied, surprising Danny with how casual a Princess could sound but he reasoned it could be part of her secret agent façade.
"And yet you'd agree to date me?" Danny asked. "When not being Danny Phantom, I'm not exactly Mr. Popular and, won't your family be upset at you for dating a commoner?"
"No, but you'd better keep my royal status a secret while we meet in America." Natasha suggested. "I don't think guys who become known for dating Princesses can keep secrets like yours."
"Fair enough, Natasha." Danny conceded.
"So, should I be concerned about being targeted by enemies of yours?" Natasha asked.
"Maybe Skulker will want you as bait to catch me since he claims to be the Ghost Zone's greatest hunter and wants my pelt." Danny answered.
"Eeeewwwww." Natasha replied.
"Should I be worried about enemies of yours?" Danny asked.
"Don't worry, Danny." Natasha said. "All of them were arrested. But how did your friends figure out who I am? Back in Zoravia, Illinois, nobody suspected a thing. Even the boy with Princess Natasha posters."
"I don't know but, wasn't it a good thing in that case considering the reason the King sent a spy who wasn't even born by the time your Uncle left the Kingdom of Zoravia?" Danny asked.
"True." Natasha begrudgingly answered.
They eventually arrived at the hotel (not without exchanging phone numbers) and noticed Natasha's classmates were already waiting for the bus. "Natasha, hurry!" An African-American girl said. "You only have a few minutes to pick up your stuff."
"Thanks, Maya!" Natasha replied and ran upstairs.
"You must be the Danny my friend Natasha is talking about." Maya said. "I'm Maya. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Danny Fenton and nice to meet you as well." Danny replied.
"I'm Greg O'Brien." A jock wearing a Zoravia High jersey said. "On behalf of my football team, thanks for jinxing yours."
"Do you really believe that?" Danny asked.
"Do you really believe ghosts exist?" Greg asked back and Danny conceded the jock's point.
The bus then arrived and the Zoravia High students entered it. "You know, Natasha?" A blonde girl asked. "You and that Fenton boy match. The both of you are losers."
Back at the O'Brien household, Natasha received a boofer phone call from her parents. "Good work, Natasha." King Carl commented. "You are free to return."
"Dad, may I stay here for the rest of the school year?" Natasha asked. "For appearances' sakes, you know."
"You fell in love with that Fenton boy, right?" Queen Lena accused her daughter.
"Yeah, Mom." Natasha confessed.
"Maybe one or two months but you must introduce us to him eventually." King Carl stated.
"Yes, Father." Natasha replied, acknowledging the formality on the King's tone.
End chapter.
