Sorry for the wait. Here's the second chapter. I had a lot of fun writing this chapter. We get Percy, Sally and an Annabeth POV this chapter. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 2: Our Advances get Thwarted
August 10
Percy
Percy was over the moon. First, he and his mom had left the freezing doctor's office and stepped into the warm New York August air. He had taken his hoodie off the minute they stepped out the office and let the warm air caress his limbs. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt with a picture of a turtle, and it read 'Save the Ocean, Keep the Sea Plastic Free'. Paul had given him this shirt before he had been kidnapped by Hera.
Secondly, they would go and get his hair cut. His hair had grown long over the journey and had been singed and uneven in various spots on his head. Hopefully the barber could salvage it.
Then, they would go the sporting equipment store and get Percy the clothes he needed for the upcoming school year.
Afterwards, his mom told him that they meet with Paul to get his skateboard fixed after the incident that occurred a few days prior. An incident that involved Percy teaching Paul how to skateboard which ended up with the board being split into pieces.
Paul told Percy he felt guilty and was going to make it up to Percy by getting his board fixed.
Then, they would go grocery shopping and there would be a final surprise waiting for him at dinner. His mother didn't reveal any more details. She said that her lips were sealed and Percy would just have to wait and see.
Right now, Percy was just digging into his second burrito. He and his mother were sitting on a park bench watching over the lake and seeing how life passed by them.
After they left the doctor's office, his mom told him about this great taco truck in Central Park with the best burritos in New York. Percy had to say, that she was not kidding when she said they were the best. They were so good he could not get just one, so his mother got him a second one and he couldn't be happier.
They continued eating for another half hour talking to each other. Sally had asked Percy more details about his quest and as usual Percy downplayed the danger that he went through to not worry his mother. His mother patted him on the back and let him know that's he was here for him if he ever needed anything.
"So, Percy there's a very important question that I need to ask you," she began. She made direct eye contact with him.
Uh-oh he thought. This was her serious expression and Percy wondered through his mind what he had done wrong. Had she found out that he tried to whack Paul in the head with his skateboard after the incident? Had Paul told her how Percy could curse like a sailor? Did Percy not make his bed before they left their apartment? He braced himself for what was coming but came next was completely unexpected.
"Have you and Annabeth been… doing it?" She asked uneasily.
"Doing what? Like making out?" He responded. The meaning flew right over his head. He and Annabeth had been making out and even before he disappeared, they had been making out. Percy didn't understand why the question was making his mother uneasy. Then it dawned on him. His face turned red and was about to speak but he was cut off.
"Not like that Percy," Sally began. She took a deep breath before continuing, "I know it's your life and all, but please be truthful with me. I won't punish you or anything."
Percy nodded uneasily. Usually when parents said that that meant that they would 100% punish you despite telling the truth.
"Have you and Annabeth been having sex?" She asked bluntly.
Yep, there it was. How she managed to find out he didn't know. Was this what they called a mother's intuition? He turned away from his mom avoiding eye contact and rubbed the back of his head. After a moment he spoke up, "yeah… we've had sex." The rise of Sally's eyebrows prompted him to quickly add, "don't worry Mom, we were careful each time."
"Each time?" She nearly gasped.
Percy's face only grew a deeper shade of red. "Yeah, we've done it… a couple times."
He kept rubbing the back of his head embarrassed to be having this conversation with his mother. Especially in broad daylight where passerbys could potentially hear them.
He looked down to avoid eye contact. "Please don't be mad. It just… kinda happened." He started. "After we got out of Tartarus, we found ourselves sleeping together frequently and one thing led to another and then, BOOM we did it." He emphasized that last point my making a bomb motion with his hands and trying for humor.
He felt his mother shuffle next to him. She stood up and kneeled in front of him. Grabbing his hands and making eye contact.
He tried to avoid looking into her eyes but failed. He sighed again.
"I'm not mad at you Percy," she said. He slightly perked up at her words. "I just hope that I raised you well enough to respect boundaries and not force her to do anything she didn't want."
She almost laughed seeing her son's expression. She continued, "if you're going to do it… just do it safely OK?" She asked. Percy perked up a bit more before she teased him again. "I'm too young to be grandmother anyway and I won't babysit."
"Mom!" Percy exclaimed indignantly.
Sally laughed lightly as his reaction. "But seriously Percy, I'm not mad. The two of you have gone through such horrible things that would put normal adults in comas. I think being worried about whether you had sex or not seems a bit trivial. But be careful, a child is a huge responsibility and you're still quite young."
Percy stayed quiet at her comment. He meets her eyes and then said, "thanks Mom. We'll keep that in mind next time we do it."
"Not in my house though!" she exclaimed almost instantly.
Percy grew beat red again and Sally burst out laughing. Percy began laughing shortly after as well.
Sally stood back up and dusted her hands. "Well now that that is settled, we should get to our next item on the list." She took her trash to the trashcan and took out her journal to look at their itinerary. She had taken a pen out of her purse and scratched something out.
Percy threw his trash away and stood beside his mother. She closed the book quickly when he got close.
He looked at her funny and she mouthed that he can't see the full list. Percy lightly rolled his eyes and they made their way out of the park where the Prius was parked.
As they were walking, Percy asked, "Mom how did you know that Annabeth and I were having sex? You didn't spy on us, did you?" He narrowed his eyes at her in suspicion.
"Well, sweetheart, there was a box of condoms in your goodie bag from the doctor, so I put two and two together."
Percy rubbed the back of his head, "I see, maybe I should have checked the bag before handing it to you master detective."
Sally snorted and they continued walking to the Prius. Next stop the barber shop.
"No way! PJ is that you? I thought you were dead or worse, you found yourself another barber." A young man exclaimed from the other side of the room.
Percy walked up to him, and they fist bumped. "It's great to see you too Pablo and you know I would never leave you. Besides, who else can cut this messy crow's nest of hair?" He winked.
Pablo laughed and motioned for Percy to take a seat. The barber waved over at Sally and asked, "How you been Mrs. J? All good?"
"Good, but everything's better now that Percy is back home."
"I bet." He spun Percy around on the chair, covering him with the chair cloth and clipping it onto his neck.
The barber started rummaging through his tools looking for the ones he needed for the job. "So, PJ, where have you been all this time?"
Percy's recounted the explanation that he told everyone that was not familiar with the demigod world. "Oh, you know, school exchange program. Got sent to Greece for a couple months and just came back." He shrugged.
Pablo nodded and started ruffling out Percy's hair. "That's good to hear, man." He continued ruffling his hair a bit longer, seemingly taking the length at various points. "So, the same as always? I get you all fixed up?"
"You bet." With that Pablo started cutting Percy's hair. As he cut, they talked about his trip, or rather what Percy imagined would be acceptable for a mortal to hear. The barber did not need to know about the demigod's trip to Tartarus, getting poisoned and his nosebleed starting the apocalypse. Percy felt quite comfortable talking with the young man. They had known each other for years and Percy had always gotten his hair cut by him.
"I noticed that you got taller PJ, but you look too skinny. Have you been eating your meals every day?" The barber asked as he continued cutting Percy's hair.
Percy smirked. "I just came from the doctor, and apparently my mom has been underfeeding me." He emphasized that last part so that his mother would hear it.
"Percy!" his mother exclaimed indignantly from the other side of the room.
Percy laughed before explaining. "I'm kidding. I got sick for a bit and couldn't eat for a while. I'm all better now though."
"That's great to know." He turned around and looked at Percy's mom. "Make sure he gets his meals Mrs. J."
Sally sighed, "don't worry I will."
Pablo worked for about another half hour making sure that Percy's hair was even, and he looked better than when he came in. He finished by brushing the hair out of Percy's face. He removed the cloth sheet and Percy stood up and stretched out his limbs. Percy looked into the mirror and saw that he looked good. Not that he looked bad before coming in, he just looked better now, like had been better put together.
"Thanks, man. You're a miracle worker." He held his fist out for a fist bump.
"Don't mention it dude." They fist bumped. Pablo stopped and stared at Percy's forearm.
"That's a rad tattoo you got there. What's it mean?"
"Oh, this thing?" Percy asked, showing his arm to Pablo so he could get a better look. "It says, Sono Pazi Questi Romani, or in English these Romans are crazy."
"Cool man, I bet there's a story behind it. You'll have to tell me some other day."
"Will do."
Sally paid for the cut. They waved goodbye and made their way back to the Prius.
Sally ruffled her son's hair.
"Mom!" he protested playfully.
"Sorry, it's just that you look great."
They made their way into Prius. Before they drove off, Sally took out her journal and scratched out another item out of her list. "Next stop, the sporting goods store!"
Percy found himself in the dressing room of the sporting goods store with huge pile of clothes that his mother had picked out laying on the bench. She was waiting outside and would occasionally throw another garment over the door for him to try on.
After being accepted into the swim team, the coach handed him a list of supplies that he would need. The older man told Percy that the male students had a couple choices for apparel for the swim team. They had to wear competitive swim attire whether in the form of shorts, pants or the very short suit which left nothing to the imagination, the choice was up to the students. He also said he would need some goggles, a swim cap, plenty of towels, changes of clothes, snacks, and a bag to put it all in. The snacks seemed a bit strange, but the coach emphasized that the snacks were the most important item on the list.
The coach explained that swimmers had very high metabolisms and would need to be constantly eating or they would get hangry. Which was something that Percy was all too familiar with.
His mother threw another item over the door, increasing the height of the pile. The pile consisted of mainly swim jammers with equal numbers of shorts and pants. His mom thought it would be funny to throw the occasional super short suit in there. He was determined to never wear the garment and especially not wear it when out in public. It just made him feel too exposed. Plus, the polka dot pattern did not go well with his eyes.
So, there he stood, changing clothes, and looking at himself in the mirror to see which ones he liked. Getting them on and off was a bit tedious. The skintight garments made it a bit difficult to put on and take off. He wondered if it would be more tedious when he was wet and he pondered whether to will himself dry when no one was looking.
Would that go against his of promise of not using his powers while swimming on the team? He wasn't sure. He would cross that border when the time came.
He spent the next half hour cycling through the clothes. He put the ones he liked in one pile and the ones he didn't in another pile. His mother had expanded her horizons and started throwing in clothes that were not strictly made for swimming. She started throwing in gym shorts, athletic shirts, jackets, sweatpants and hoodies. At the rate this was going, he would be drowning in clothing.
"Mom! Chill out," he cried.
"Sorry sweetheart," she apologized. "Just wanted to make sure you're all set. Pick whichever ones you like."
Percy sighed and went back to trying out clothes. In the end he picked three knee length black swim jammers with a dark blue line running down the side, a pair of black pants swim jammers with the same dark blue pattern, a couple of gym shorts and shirts, and a pair of black sweatpants. He folded the clothes he would take and separated them from the larger stack. He organized the clothes he wouldn't take so that he could hand them to the employee working nearby.
He excited the door where his mother stood up and asked if he got everything he needed. He nodded and held out the neatly folded stack and handed it to her. He then proceeded to hand the other stack to the employee and thanked her for her help.
Thankfully, he picked out his goggles and swim cap earlier and his basketball team did not require this much gear. The coach for that one told him that the school would provide the uniform and all he needed were some shoes, which he and his mother had picked out earlier. He also had an old gym bag at home that he would use.
All in all, they walked out of the store with a couple of shopping bags and headed to the Prius.
"Thanks for getting me all this stuff mom," Percy said. If he was being honest, he felt a bit guilty that he was getting all this stuff. He felt that he didn't deserve it after everything he had put his mom through.
Sally turned to look at him, probably seeing some guilt in his eyes. "Don't mention it, Percy. After everything you've gone through, you deserve it and much more." She kissed him lightly on the forehead, or rather she had to stand on her toes to get to his forehead.
He smiled back and lead the way back to the Prius to unload the bags. "Now then, why don't we go and get that board of yours fixed?" Sally exclaimed.
Paul waiting for them outside the skate shop. When he noticed the pair, he waved at them.
"Hey," the older man called out.
"Hey yourself," Percy greeted, smiling at the greeting. Sally kissed her husband lightly on the lips.
"How did the doctor's appointment go Percy?" Paul asked.
Percy shrugged. "Pretty well, but apparently my mom has been underfeeding me."
"Percy!" Sally exclaimed indignantly.
"I'm just kidding mom." Percy laughed. They went into the shop with Percy carrying the two halves of his board.
The demigod was talking to the girl behind the counter. He placed the two pieces of his skateboard on the counter for her to look at.
"Sorry man," she apologized. "We don't have anyone here that can fix this."
"You're kidding?" Percy asked.
"Again, I'm really sorry. If you want, you can look around the shop and see if any board catches your eye." She motioned to the wall of boards and then asked, "if you don't mind me asking, how did it break? Hit a trick too hard?"
Percy sighed. "Oh, you know, rolled onto the street, hit by a truck carrying some cows, tried to whack my stepfather in the head with it. The usual you could say."
She snorted. "Is that a common occurrence?"
"I was as shocked as you when it happened." Percy then told her the silly story on how the board broke.
He and Paul were at the skatepark because Paul had insisted on getting Percy's mind out of the negative thoughts he was having, and that some sunlight would do the young man some good. Paul also insisted he wanted to learn a couple of skate tricks and Percy was more than happy to oblige. Little did he know he would regret it in a couple minutes.
Paul stumbled off the board rather harshly and nearly fell on his face. Percy was laughing at his stepfather but didn't notice that the board had kept rolling and stopped in the middle of the street. By the time Percy noticed, he wiped a tear from his eye and went to retrieve the board. Unfortunately, he did not make it in time as a truck carrying some cows barreled through the street, breaking the board in half.
Percy was dumbstruck as the retrieved the two pieces of his skateboard. The same one that has mother had gifted him on his 13th birthday. The one that he got after going on his quest to the Sea of Monsters and rescuing Grover. He wondered if he could get it fixed or if he would have to buy a new one.
Paul made his way to where Percy was standing holding the remnants of his skateboard. The older man was breathing heavily, "Percy, I'm so sorry about the board. I promise I'll get you a new one."
Surprisingly Percy looked up and didn't seem the least bit upset. Instead, he had on his troublemaker smirk.
"It's alright Paul. Accidents happen." He bounced the heal of his shoes on the concrete floor before continuing. "Now, why don't we play a new game?"
"What kind of game?" Paul asked, intrigued.
"How fast can you run?"
Paul didn't have a chance to respond as Percy lunged himself at the older man and he just managed to dodge and run away. The next ten minutes involved Percy chasing Paul around the skatepark and trying to whack Paul on the head with the remnants of his board. Percy was screaming curses that would have made a pirate blush.
After about ten minutes, Paul and Percy were sitting on the sidewalk. Thankfully, the demigod had not landed a hit. The older man proved to be quite good at dodging, and Percy wasn't really trying to hit him. He just needed to blow off some steam and surprisingly, no one had called the cops.
"So… we cool Percy?" Paul placed his hand on Percy's shoulder.
Percy looked at Paul and smiled. "Yeah, man, we're cool. Just needed to blow off some steam."
Paul smiled back. "That's good to hear and I promise, we'll get you a new one."
"You better, or I'll actually try to whack you," he threatened in an amused tone.
Paul looked terrified. "You're telling me you weren't trying to hit me?"
"What would my mom say if I whacked you in the head with my board? She would ground me."
"I guess that makes sense." They stood up and made their way to the apartment.
"And Percy?" Paul asked.
"Yeah?"
"Where did you learn to curse like a sailor?"
Percy shrugged. "My dad is the god the sea. You should see how the entire family curses when they get mad. You pick up a thing or two." (He left this part out when telling the cashier the story).
"Perhaps I should ground you for those words you threw at me or tell your mom?" Paul asked teasingly.
Percy narrowed his eyes in mischief. "Did I ever tell you what happened to my old stepdad?"
At this Paul's expression froze. Percy burst out laughing and said that Paul wasn't in danger of that happening to him. They continued talking as they made their way to their apartment.
The cashier was laughing and motioned for Percy to take a look around the shop. Percy took the pieces of board off the counter and joined his mother Paul looking at some boards.
"So, could they get your board fixed?" Paul asked.
"Yep, they said just use some duct tape and it should be good," he responded back sarcastically. He held out the two pieces for them to see.
"I see," Sally spoke.
"Why don't you go around and pick one that you like?" Paul asked. Percy looked at him and continued, "you know, my treat, for saving the world again. Pick whichever one you like."
Percy smirked and exclaimed. "Woo! I'll get the most expensive one!" He ran and started looking around.
"I really hope he was kidding." Paul deadpanned.
Sally kissed him on the cheek and reassured him. "Don't worry, he was kidding."
Percy spent the next hour looking at the boards, testing them for their weight, size, grip, wheels, how well he could do tricks on them and how well he could whack monsters with it. It had to be quite durable if it was going to be used as weapon as well.
In the end he decided picking out a simple board similar to the one he had before. This one was a bit longer since he had grown and had a dark blue bottom. No crazy designs, but it could use some stickers in the future. He went to show his parents and agreed that it was a nice board and headed to pay. Before they paid, Paul asked his stepson if he wanted new skate shoes. Percy looked down and noticed that his black shoes that he used for skating had seen better days.
Percy scratched the back of his head. "You don't have to Paul; the board is already quite expensive. I don't want you to have to spend more money."
Paul smiled. "Don't worry about it Percy. After all you've saved the world again so it's the least I could do. Go pick out the ones you like."
"Really? You're the best Paul." Percy ran to the other side of the store where the shoes were.
"You really are the best, aren't you Paul?" Sally asked.
"I try my best."
Percy came back about 15 minutes later holding a shoe box. Paul nodded and the three went together to pay for the items. The cashier asked Percy if he would like to leave his old board so it could recycled but Percy said that the board was too sentimental and couldn't let go of it, but thanked her for the offer.
They exited the store and headed to the Prius placing the items in the trunk. This time Paul joined them on their never-ending quest of errands.
Sally
Sally was pushing a grocery cart filled to the brim with groceries. How they were going to fit all this into the Prius, she had no clue.
With Percy being back, her grocery bills were about to go through the roof. And the worse part, he would start doing sports which meant that he would be eating even more. She had already been shocked when Percy practically inhaled his burrito earlier in the day and asked if he could get a second. Those were some hearty burritos after all. If that wasn't an indication of his ravenous appetite, she did not know what was.
Despite the increase in the grocery bill, she was glad to cook for him again. She would make sure that he got his three meals a day and plenty of healthy snacks. She was also hoping that with him back, she could continue teaching him how to cook.
Before he had disappeared, Percy had helped Sally make dinner almost every night and Percy had gotten quite good at cooking. He wasn't quite at her level, but maybe in the future with more lessons. Hopefully he had not forgotten all her lessons in the time that he was gone. Tonight, she would make a big meal and would ask Percy to help her out to see how much he remembered.
Sally was going through her grocery list, making sure that she had all her items checked out. She had told Paul and accompany Percy to purchase his more personal items. Items such as shampoo, body wash, lotion, socks, underwear, a razor (Percy had been growing some facial hair lately) among other things. She also told Paul to see if he could sneak a box of condoms in there to see how he reacted.
The fact that Percy and Annabeth were really intimate didn't really bother her, in fact she expected it, but it came as surprise when she bought up the subject. She just hoped that she and Paul educated him well and would not show up one day with a surprise grandchild in his hands, especially at his age. She had herself to worry about after all. She had a feeling that a child was on the way soon and was unsure if she could see multiple little ones running around. She had been feeling nauseous in the mornings and sometimes had weird food cravings. She was certain she was pregnant but hadn't told Paul or Percy yet.
Sally continued pushing the cart, making sure to get all the items on her list and double checking just to be safe. She saw Percy walking over to the registers holding a basket filled with his items. It looked like he and Paul had stopped at the bakery since they were both munching on donuts.
She made her way to where he was standing and waved at them. Percy waved back and gave her a donut which she accepted. She talked with Percy, making sure that he had everything he needed. Sally nodded and checked her list one last time before approaching the register with Paul and paying for all the items.
Percy pushed the cart outside and into the park lot to give his mother a respite from pushing. They opened the trunk of the Prius and managed to squeeze all the groceries in like a game of Tetris.
Percy slumped on the back seat and placed his hands on the back of his head.
"Whew. What a long day. Can't wait to get home."
His parents laughed lightly and drove off to their apartment. The afternoon sun was tainting the sky a bright shade of orange and pink.
As one would imagine, hauling all those bags up to their apartment was a challenge. After about 10 minutes, all the bags were placed into the kitchen and the food was arranged into their appropriate spots.
Percy wanted to lay down on the couch for a bit, maybe catch how the basketball game was going or play some videogames. That would have been the plan, but his mother asked, "Percy, sweetheart. Can you help me with dinner? I could use an extra set of hands."
"Sure thing mom." He couldn't deny his mother.
He put on his light blue apron and started doing what his mother wanted him to. He started washing and cutting some vegetables, boiling water, and washing dishes in the process. His mother gave him the honor of making the pie for dessert and Percy beamed. It had been a while since he had made his mother's famous blue banana cream pie.
He got to work.
Annabeth
Annabeth was running late. The subway driver had announced that the train had been delayed because somehow some cows had gotten on the tracks and the police were working on removing them from the tracks. Cows on the track in New York city was strange enough, but somehow, some cows had also gotten on the train itself.
These didn't seem to be as big of an issue as most people paid them no mind, perhaps the mist was at play here, but Annabeth knew where the cows had come from.
That accursed goddess is trying to ruin my day she growled internally.
She sighed and looked out the window. The setting sun was painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. She thought about the events of the past couple of days. She had been there when Percy reunited with his parents, and it was the first time she had seen him cry like that. The loud sobs that wrecked his body and the tight grip he had on his mother almost broke her.
She had gone back to camp the following day, despite her boyfriend's protest. She had insisted that Percy deserved to spend some time with his family after being gone so long and she would head back to camp to finish the cleaning process. After they had argued for a good ten minutes, Percy relented and stayed at his parents, and she headed back to camp.
Camp was up and running almost normally now. Just some minor damage and rebuilding to take care off and everything should be ok. Well almost everything. To think that Leo and so many others had died and to be thrust into another great prophecy so shortly after the last one was cruel. The fates were just so cruel. Annabeth promised that if she ran into those old hags, she would slap them across the face.
She had gotten a call earlier that day from Sally. The mother told Annabeth that she had taken Percy to the doctor and invited her to dinner. Annabeth agreed almost instantly and said she would be there.
Unfortunately, these cows in and out of the train were making things hard. She wondered if it would have been better to have asked Blackjack or one of the other Pegasi for a ride but threw the thought aside. Blackjack was still healing, and Percy had done his best to nurse his companion back to health the days following the defeat of Gaia. Now the Pegasus just needed some rest and maybe a couple donuts. The other Pegasi at camp were also quite busy helping with the repairs so maybe it was best not to bother them.
The driver came back up on the speaker and said that they would be moving soon. Finally, Annabeth thought. She couldn't wait to see Percy again and have dinner with his family.
After 20 minutes, she excited the subway station and made her way to the apartment complex. She climbed the stairs, entered the hallway, reached the door and knocked on it.
"Coming," she heard a familiar voice say from the inside.
The door opened a couple seconds later and there stood her boyfriend. She noticed he had gotten a haircut and he looked really good. She also noticed him wearing a light blue apron and was holding a whisk with some blue cream on it which made him look a bit dorky, but she loved it anyway.
"Annabeth, what are you doing here?" He asked. He clearly had not been expecting her.
"Can't I come visit my boyfriend and have dinner?" She raised her hand to his head and ruffled his hair.
"Hey!" Percy protested playfully and she laughed. "Well, no… I mean yes, you're more than welcome. But it's kinda late? Did you run into some trouble on the way here?"
Annabeth shrugged. "Oh, you know, some cows blocking the tracks and some cows on the train. The usual in New York."
"Annabeth it's not nice to call people cows, no matter how ugly they are."
Annabeth snorted and punched him lightly on the chest. "No, Seaweed Brain, some actual cows."
"I know. Hera must still be mad." He responded before enveloping her in a kiss. He leaned down slightly to reach her height and it annoyed her slightly that he was taller than her now. She used to tease him about his height when they were younger but now, she couldn't do the same. They broke apart about a minute after, gasping for air.
"I missed you, Wise Girl," he breathed out.
"Me too, Seaweed Brain."
He held her hand led her into the apartment where Paul was sitting on the table probably working on some things for school. Sally was in the kitchen, cooking a large meal.
Annabeth greeted them and they responded warmly. Sally told her to take a seat and relax and she called for Percy to finish helping her with dinner. Percy rolled his eyes slightly. She knew he wanted to spend time with her rather than help cook dinner, but she also knew that he could not deny his mother.
He made his way to the kitchen where he started helping his mother with some of the cooking. There was a ding and Percy opened the refrigerator open and pulled out a blue pie. He topped off the pie with some blue cream and bananas and put it back on the refrigerator. He casually waved his hand to create a small whirlpool in the sink to wash the dishes.
Soon after, the table was set, and Sally and Percy bought out the food. They had made enough food to feed a family of ten but knowing Percy, he counted for at least five.
As they were eating Annabeth asked, "how was the doctor's appointment Percy?"
Percy shrugged and smirked. "Pretty well, but my mom has been underfeeding me."
"Perseus Jackson, I swear to the gods, stop telling people that I have not been feeding you!" Sally yelled from across the table.
Percy laughed. "Sorry mom, just had to keep it going."
Annabeth smiled, happy to see her boyfriend with his family. After dinner she ended in Percy's bedroom, sitting on the bed as Percy told her all about his day.
"You're gonna have to show me those swimsuits soon," Annabeth teased.
"Maybe some other time," he teased back and kissed her again. Deep and passionately. They both laughed lightly when they split apart. Percy suddenly had that mischievous glint in his eyes.
Uh-oh, she thought.
Percy gently pushed her down on the bed and started kissing her neck. She wrapped her arms around his back to pull him closer. They would have done more if she didn't spot someone looking at them through the slightly opened door. Her heart dropped when she noticed Sally looking at them, or more like glaring at them.
"Percy stop!" she exclaimed.
"What? What's wrong? Did I bite too hard?" he smirked playfully?
Annabeth motioned her head to door and Percy's expression dropped when he saw his mother looking at them through the slightly open door. He quickly got off her and sat down at the edge of the bed, pulling Annabeth up as well.
"Mom, good to see you," he said perfectly casual like they had been doing homework instead of making out.
"Good to see you Perseus," she began. "What did we discuss earlier? Not in my house!"
"Right, sorry mom," he said. Sally nodded and opened the door before leaving. "At least not tonight," he winked at her after Sally left.
She punched him lightly on the chest and they laughed.
"Maybe next time then," Annabeth said.
AN: so that's the end of chapter 2. I feel that Percy is a good cook, like come on, the dude grew up with Sally as his mother, he has to be a good cook. It's also mentioned in one of the books, I think Greek Gods, that Percy is good at cooking, cleaning, and looking pretty. Basically, he would be a great trophy husband. Do what you will with that information. He mentioned in that book that he's in the basketball team but I'm not 100% if it's in high school or prior so I threw him in the basketball team. In the Hidden Oracle, he's on the AHS swim team, so I threw him in there as well. I'm also surprised no one throughout the series has given Percy the nickname PJ, I think it's a cute nickname.
I thought this chapter had some good vibes. What do you think?
Next chapter will be out in two weeks! Next chapter will have tons of Percabeth!
As always, I welcome ideas and thanks for reading!
