Exitus Acta Probat
As I reflected on returning, I picked up the SSD disk and reviewed what Maysun wanted from Dr. Petrov.
There were documents of all sorts, but above all, she was searching for a database with potential candidates to become the mother of her new children. Apparently, she wanted to conceive a baby boy. There were reports on genetic manipulation and various forms of in vitro fertilization, along with potential enhancements through genetic engineering.
"She's going to continue the Doc's research and possibly kidnap a woman to have a new child. I won't allow it," I muttered as I read through the documents.
Finally, I destroyed the SSD and sealed the place as best as I could, considering turning it into some sort of headquarters in the future. This time, I took precautions and used various types of chemicals to erase any trace or scent that could betray my presence. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could be left to chance.
Armed with my saber, dagger, glove, the remnants of some bombs, tasers, and my mask, I set out on my journey back to Moscow, heading back to Nina's apartment.
I traveled through steppes, cities, and more. In Moscow, I only fed on a couple of rats I found near a river; I was too anxious to think about eating and kept moving through the night until I reached her apartment.
Outside, I noticed that the place was surrounded by policemen. I considered asking, but I thought it best to keep my distance and not get too close. If there had been a crime, it was better not to leave any traces of evidence; I was already expecting the worst.
I approached the police station stealthily and began scanning their data.
Case Number 84692-98
Victim: Nina Petrov
Date of Death: October 29th, approximately at 22:34.
Diagnosis: The body of the victim, Nina Petrov, daughter of the missing scientist Nikolai Petrov, was found naked near the Moskva River at 23:40 by a witness walking his dog. The witness saw his dog approach and bark uncontrollably, which led him to immediately call the police upon discovering the body. The victim showed visible signs of sexual abuse and violence. The forensic team's diagnosis determined the cause of death to be internal bleeding. The police are currently investigating the case, suspecting that the attack was a "settling of scores" carried out by organized crime groups.
The news of Nina Petrov's death hit me like a sledgehammer. I stood paralyzed, my mind flooded with memories of our friendship and shared moments. I couldn't believe she was gone. I couldn't allow her death to go unpunished.
The thirst for revenge surged within me again, but this time, I forced myself to control it. I knew I couldn't act impulsively; I needed to keep a clear head to uncover the truth behind her death. I wouldn't rest until I found those responsible and made them pay for what they had done.
With determined steps, I walked away from the police station and immersed myself in the shadows of the night. The streets of Moscow became my ally as I moved stealthily, searching for clues and answers that would lead me to the heart of this dark mystery.
I would continue the hunt, but this time, instead of following the trail of revenge, I would pursue justice. Nina deserved that and much more. I wouldn't rest until I found the culprits and put an end to this nightmare. The path ahead of me was filled with dangers and adversities, but my determination was unbreakable.
The story that was unfolding went beyond revenge and the hunt for vampires. It was a plot of deception, secrets, and a darkness that seemed to engulf everything. I had become the protagonist of this tale, but I didn't know what twists and surprises destiny had in store for me.
The pain of losing Nina was still present, but now it was intertwined with the determination to honor her memory and seek justice for her. I would press on, fighting against obstacles and facing my own inner demons.
The night embraced me with its darkness, but I was no longer a creature of the night; I was now a being driven by the passion to unravel this shadowy mystery. Despite the lurking danger, I wouldn't back down. I would walk through the shadows, confronting the darkness to uncover the truth hidden behind the night's veil in this city infested with secrets and lies.
I was furious. She knew the risk she was in, that she was being watched, but was the abuse necessary? As I continued reading, I discovered that the case involved several men known to the police, who, due to lack of evidence or corruption, remained unpunished. I felt guilt at the same time. I could have done something, at least ended the system sooner so that she could speak with her father. If I had made different choices, maybe... all of this wouldn't have happened.
The next night, I entered the morgue and began to sniff out the scents of the men who had abused her. These guys left "obvious evidence," so to speak, so it would be easy for me to identify those disgusting creatures.
I followed the trail through various alleys until I came across what seemed to be a well-hidden place, some kind of nightclub or VIP venue. Although I didn't understand Russian, I could translate what they were saying using algorithms and the internet. Furthermore, I could listen through the walls. There was definitely music, not too loud, but it was there, and I could smell drugs and alcohol too.
I arrived at the door, which was located a couple of floors below and behind other gates beneath an abandoned place. The door was metal, with a small window that could be opened. The window slid open, and a guy said in Russian, "Password..."
I simply threw the guy against the wall, and other men started to arrive.
The first ones came with knives and sticks, while the women screamed.
"Crack*, crack..."
I quickly disposed of them one by one. Then, others began to shoot...
"Snap*, snap..."
There was no need to use my dagger or my saber, so I relied on my hands and claws...
"Swipe*... swipe*... Slash*... slash*..."
I tore them apart one by one, leaving the women to flee. Some of the men tried to escape.
"Bang*… Bang*..."
"Bump*… swipe*..."
None of them were going to get away. I could smell two of the men who had killed Nina. One of them hit me with a bottle on the head, the other tried to stab me, but the blade broke, and he cut his finger... I could smell it... the thirst was becoming stronger...
"Swipe*... swipe*..." A couple of slashes were enough for the first one. I just snapped the second one's neck.
I walked slowly towards the stairs, and the stench of the last guy became unbearable.
Upon reaching that room, there he was, the last guy. The room was decorated with neon lights, and there was a double bed. Blood dripped from my hands, staining the elegantly carpeted floor.
He was accompanied by a young girl, probably of African origin, with short curly hair. Both looked at me intently, and he held a gun. The coward pointed it at the girl and, with what little I could understand, threatened to kill her if I didn't leave.
I quickly disarmed him; the gun went off before I threw him out the window, but not before punching him in the chest. I looked at my hands; they were completely covered in blood, and they began to tremble.
"Your training, Gonzalo, remember your training with the Doc, don't do it..."
Suddenly, I smelled a fragrance, a scent I had never experienced in my entire life. It was sweet, much stronger than any smell I had ever encountered before, not even the samples the Doc had in his laboratory could compare, it was something supernatural.
I turned around and saw the girl wincing. The bullet the man had fired had lodged in her knee; it wasn't very deep, but I couldn't remove it with my hands; I needed an object or something to take it out; otherwise, this girl could bleed and get worse.
"Um... wait... let me help you..." I said.
She just stared at me with a face of shock and confusion. I took the dagger; there was a struggle, but I managed to remove the bullet. The scent overwhelmed me deeply, and slowly, I began to enter a sort of trance, something I had never felt before.
Suddenly, my teeth sank into her leg; I couldn't stop myself; her taste was overwhelming, much more than the scent. I could hear her screams and her struggles. She tried to hit me on the head and pull my hair; I could hear her pleas, but I couldn't stop, I couldn't...
I was in that moment and saw Od and the man I killed when we hunted together for the first time, Maysun with Dr. Petrov, Anastasia, and my dear wife Marie... I had finally fallen; I had fallen prey to my basest instincts.
I closed my eyes, I struggled and struggled...
"No, please, no..." the poor girl screamed and cried.
My hands were firmly on her leg, I was possessed by that liquid. I remembered my time at university; I remembered Marie, Lucero, my dear feline friend Merlin, Commissioner Klein, Ralph, Juan, Nina, and Dr. Petrov. Finally, I came to my senses after I don't know how much time and managed to pull away, hiding in the bathroom next door, still savoring the remains and their scent as I writhed in the bathtub.
She kept screaming in pain; I could hear her writhing from side to side, each time with less intensity. I mustered up my courage, took a deep breath, and went back. I saw her wound, it was bad, venom was all over her knee, and the process would be slow if I allowed it.
Then, suddenly, she stopped moving, her heart stopped beating, and I could only see her lifeless face. She had died of a heart attack.
"I killed her... I killed her... oh no... no, no, no, no, no..." I thought as I grabbed my hair.
I stayed with my eyes wide open, staring at her intensely. Then I stood up, disoriented, looking around. I saw the whole room, blood everywhere. I looked out the window, and it looked like something out of a horror movie. When I looked at myself in the mirror behind me, I saw it...
A monster with its hands and mouth surrounded by the crimson evidence of its recent indulgence, the same image I saw in Anastasia that time we went hunting together for the first time, but this time... I saw the darkness, not reflected in my enemy, but in my own soul.
