Chapter 4: The Final Decision
After driving George's car back to her grandparents house, Amy decided to text Ricky to see if he was available so they can talk. A few minutes later, Amy found herself in Ricky's car and the conversation took off from there.
"So what did your dad do this time if you don't mind me asking?" Ricky asked
"He killed someone almost 21 years ago. The only reason police are just finding out about this now is because his friend told his cellmate about what happened so he then told the cops. He's being held without bond and said someone needs to take custody of Robbie." Amy said
"Did you wanna do it?" Ricky asked
"I just wanted your thoughts on this since it'd affect you just as much as it'd affect me." Amy said
"I think if we have to, then yes. We have room. Wait who's insurance is he on?" Ricky asked
"My grandpa's. Did you wanna move him into yours?" Amy asked
"If we have custody of him, then yeah. It'd be easier." Ricky said
"Ok. We'd need to talk to him about that when they get back from Antigua." Amy said
"Is there anyone else interested in taking custody?" Ricky asked
"My dad said he'd prefer it if we took it again but also told me to talk to my sisters about it. Ashley is out automatically since she's 16. Adrian said she'd talk to Ben about it and see what he says about it. She also said she thinks he's not ready mentally to take care of a child." Amy said
"I don't disagree with what she said. I do think that we should do this. I don't know about you but I think we got this." Ricky said as he took Amy's hand
"I think we can do it. We just gotta let Adrian know since she wanted to know. We also need to tell my grandparents if they're not busy." Amy said as Ricky pulled into the driveway of Adrian's apartment
"Hey, can you come out back with us?" Amy asked when Adrian opened the door
"Sure. What's up?" Adrian asked
"We wanna take custody of Robbie. We haven't talked to grandma and grandpa about it yet but we wanna do it." Amy said
"I talked to them because they asked me to pick them up from the airport later. They did say they'd be totally fine with either one of us taking custody." Adrian said
"Ok cool. Do you think when they come back, they can come by our apartment to talk to us about insurance and swinging by to pack up Robbie's clothes?" Ricky asked
"Yeah. I'll talk to them when I pick them up later." Adrian said
"I think we should stay the night over at their house. That way we can slowly start to pack Robbie's things." Amy said
"Sounds good to me. Let's go back to our apartment so you can drop off the car before we file to get custody of Robbie." Ricky said
"Ok. Can you watch him for a little bit longer?" Amy asked Adrian as they headed back inside
"Of course." Adrian said with a smile
