Chapter 5: I Miss Amy

A week has passed since Amy and Ricky officially got custody of Robbie. All has gone well so far. A week later, Amy left to go on a girls trip to Miami for her friends bachelorette party for the weekend meaning that it was just Ricky and Robbie at the apartment. She was supposed to be back that Sunday but the flight got delayed. It was definitely obvious that while Robbie was fine with Amy being gone during the timeframe she said she'd be gone. But once that timeframe passed, he was not happy.

It all started shortly after Ricky got off the phone with Amy when she called him about the flight delay.

"Ricky, when's Amy coming back?" Robbie asked

"I don't know buddy. Her flight got delayed." Ricky said sadly

"Is she leaving us?" Robbie asked sadly as he started to cry. Ricky felt horrible for him.

"No buddy. She would never." Ricky said as he gave him a hug

"But everybody leaves me. First my mommy. Who knows where she is. She's probably jet-skiing in China or something." Robbie said sadly

"I don't know if jet-skies exist in China." Ricky said trying to change the subject

"They exist everywhere." Robbie said smugly as he started to calm down

"I'm sure you're right. Let's start getting ready for bed." Ricky said

"I'm not tired." Robbie said

"You have school tomorrow." Ricky said

"I don't wanna go to school." Robbie said crossing his arms

"You love school. You'll get to see all your friends." Ricky said with a smile

"I love being with you more." Robbie said with a smile

"I love being with you too. I have work tomorrow." Ricky said with a smile

"Fine. I guess I'll go to school since I have nothing better to do." Robbie said as he trudged off to his room

The next day started off well. Ricky dropped Robbie off at school before going to work. An hour later he gets a call from the preschool Robbie attends.

"Hello." Ricky said

"Hi this is Robbie Juergens' teacher Mrs Chan. I wanted to call you to see if you can pick up Robbie for the day." Mrs Chan said

"Why what happened?" Ricky asked

"He hit a kid who stole his crayons and refused to give them back." Mrs Chan said

"Well the kid shouldn't of stolen his crayons then." Ricky said defensively

"Teach your child to not hit and instead use his words." Mrs Chan said

"I'll have a talk with him and come get him." Ricky said as he hung up the phone

An hour later, Ricky had decided to take off the rest of the day and spend it with Robbie instead. They spent the day playing football, grocery shopping, eating lunch, cleaning and napping. They were awaken by a phone call from Amy

"Hello." Ricky said groggily

"Hi handsome. I'm about to board another plane to LAX. Are you gonna be able to pick me up?" Amy asked

"Yeah I'll be there." Ricky said

"How's Robbie?" Amy asked

"Good. We've been having fun together." Ricky said not wanting to tell her about what happened earlier that day.

"That's good. Well I just got called to board the plane. I love you. Bye." Amy said

"Love you too. Bye." Ricky said as he hung up the phone

"Who was that?" Robbie asked

"Amy." Ricky said

"Why didn't you let me talk to her?" Robbie asked before punching Ricky on the shoulder

"Hey, no hitting." Ricky said sternly

"I wanted to talk to her." Robbie said sadly

"I thought you were still asleep." Ricky said

"The phone woke me up." Robbie said

"Sorry about that. Anyways, Amy will be back soon. At 5:30, we're gonna be leaving to go to the airport to go pick her up." Ricky said with a smile

"Yay!" Robbie said as Ricky's phone went off again. This time it was a text from Ben asking him if he can work the rest of his shift.

"Robbie, you wanna go to the butcher shop?" Ricky asked with a smile

"Yeah!" Robbie said with a smile

After a fun day back at the butcher shop, Ricky and Robbie went to the airport to pick up Amy. When they saw her, Robbie ran up to Amy and gave her a big hug while Ricky was running behind him.

"I missed you so much!" Robbie said with a smile

"I missed you too. Where's Ricky?" Amy asked with a smile

"Right here." Ricky said out of breath as he gave her a hug

"Why are you sweaty and out of breath?" Amy asked curiously

"I chased after Robbie because he ran the minute he saw you." Ricky said

"Oh ok. You guys ready to go?" Amy asked

"Yeah." Ricky and Robbie said at the same time
