Okay I'm guilty as charged. I was trying to catch up with One Piece before episode 1071 came out and I really didn't write anything this week. Also had a bad time with some sewage water problems. I'll do my utmost to post this within the updating schedule I somehow set.
She really felt like she was losing her mind. That or she really had been missing a lot of details. She was certain that this little shop at the end of the street wasn't here the last time she visited asking around if anyone had seen her parents, Wendell and Monica Wilkins (their fake names) had just vanished from the face of the earth. They only left a locket behind. None of their belongings could be found in any of the hotels or resorts around. No one had seen them. They might have suffered a fate worse than death and she barely could function as it was. She really needed help. Someone, anyone.
The point-me spell led her all the way back to the cliff were she found the locket and not even trying tracking charms with her blood as a vessel worked.
Unable to stay cooped up in her room or walk aimlessly through the tours offered in Ayers Rock, she left for the nearest town again. Taking her time in walking around and trying to order her wandering thoughts.
That's how she ended up lying eyes on that house that apparently came out of nowhere. It kind of reminded her of Grimmauld Place…
Her eyes widened and she hastily made her way to the door of the cabin.
…
Before all of this happened he believed himself to be unshakable and on top of this world. He really could do anything he set his mind to, he was privileged and special. Right?
Voldemort and his followers had really done away with every idea of grandeur he had of himself and his so called legacy. Now he only believed in the power of galleons. That is.
Money makes the world go around. But even he knew the importance of a life debt. Thanks to that they had escaped a fate worse than death. It wasn't enough to save his father, but he was tankful nonetheless.
But some things really didn't change.
_ I can't change the rules Potter! You have to wait a month for this to be properly brewed and that's it! Not even Severus Snape himself can do anything about it- Draco exploded with his unwanted guest. Be it Potters house or not, a potion master needed his space to work properly.
_ I didn't say anything, Malfoy! Untwist your knickers. – Harry Potter crossed his arms and didn't look at his nemesis, he had been caught red handed. Again.
A polite throat clearing interrupted their escalating argument and both boys tensed and straightened their posture.
Narcisa Malfoy stood unimpressed by their antics, nothing on her expression revealed it, but they knew.
_ Son, even if your exasperation towards our benefactor might be understandable that's no polite way of addressing it. - Draco fidgeted before getting a grip on himself, she rounded on Harry- That being said. I believe I've been interrupting arguments like this at least twice a week. Patience is a virtue, Harry. I came here to let you both know that we have guests.
She rounded up and left after it. They really felt like toddlers.
Another day in Grimmauld Place.
…
Properly chastened and cleaned up, they sat on the tea room obediently, Narcisa had sent some letters, the most important one being to the only other individuals with Malfoy blood on their beings that lived in Britain. If they wanted to build up the name Malfoy again, they needed all the help they could get.
As for Harry, he really was surprised about it. He never would've guessed that Luna´s father was Lucius Malfoy´s brother, disowned brother.
That made Luna´s imprisonment in Malfoy Manor even worse in his eyes.
Even if he had helped Narcisa and Draco out of respect for the life debt he owed her and his own sense of justice, he was having a hard time whenever he learnt of the secrets they still held.
Learning of Voldemort and Bellatrix´s daughter really blew his mind open. Little Delphini wasn't guilty of her parent's legacy. Looking at her chubby cheeks and watching her nap quietly on her cradle wasn't an image he could associate with them.
He really loathed them. More than anyone he ever hated. But he couldn't bring himself to abandon a toddler, she was frail and an easy target for misguided and fools looking for revenge.
He didn't even have second thoughts when Narcisa and Draco told him about the girl, they recovered her from the appointed caretaker Bellatrix selected and quietly decided to raise her as "Delphini Black", the name "Riddle" wouldn't do her any favors.
The little table in the middle had a tea set and some pastries. Luna smiled at everyone as she entered and sat beside Harry.
Her father followed her and he had an unreadable expression on his face, unable to face Harry directly, he still felt awkward around him and his friends, and they couldn't exactly forgive him entirely.
_ We´re delighted you could take some time to meet with us- started Narcisa- Let us have the tea before it gets cold.
_ Hey Harry- Luna greeted finally, smiling at him. - How's it been? The nargles are buzzing around you, as if you're going away soon. Can I come to?
Harry almost spilled the tea all over himself, he barely could hold it in. Draco stared at her incredulously, and Narcisa arched her perfectly sculpted eyebrow, the only visible sign of her surprise.
_ Erm…- He really shouldn't be surprised, it was Luna after all- Sure thing Luna, that's if your father agrees.
She looked at the man with her dreamy eyes, some silent conversation took place between them. And finally the man gave her a reticent nod. He finally brought himself to look at Harry.
_ I will trust you with her. - he said. and somehow, that was enough to mend the burned bridge between them. A silent understanding of their own.
A stare match was taking place between the adults in the room, all three youngsters stayed silent and watched. Harry with curiosity, Draco with apparent disinterest and Luna with wonder.
_ It's been a while- Mr. Lovegood said, reluctantly giving an opening to start this conversation he wanted to get over as soon as possible.
_ It certainly has been. A lot of things changed since the last time we meet, more for you than me. A new name it's a new beginning after all. I dread to be the harbinger of bitter memories but I have to ask. Would you be willing to take your old name back and help us clean the Malfoy legacy?
_ It was a long time ago that mi greatest ambition was to make the Malfoy family one that embraced and encouraged acceptance and change. That young man died long ago. I do not intent to ever bear the Malfoy name again. However, I won't take the option away from Luna if she wished it.
_ I thought as much. - concluded Narcisa, with a sigh- I know it won't serve a purpose right now but I wanted to let you know that if you ever wished to come back, we would welcome you with open arms. You and Luna. We won't turn our back on you both. Our old beliefs took enough from us.
The afternoon was quiet after that. This side of the man he had though as peculiar as his daughter left Harry openmouthed. Draco was as uncomfortable around Luna at the beginning but then he was baffled by her… unique personality.
It was entertaining to watch, really.
As for Kreacher, he was overjoyed to have guests and be needed.
He delighted on each task Narcisa asked of him. And Harry was happy for the little fellow, he really didn't need half of the things Narcisa asked.
Even allowing himself to enjoy the company, he was worried about Hermione, he wanted to go to her as quickly as possible, her last letter really worried him. But he didn't want to attract unwanted attention.
…
They woke up after the tour just to find themselves on a cave. That was weird enough. It was like they had been caught in a long dream and they were barely waking up. It was surreal enough.
How on earth does a dentist end up caught in something fitting for teenage fiction novels?
Ending up meeting a fourteen-year-old in your vacations that claimed to be God and who wanted you to have lots of kids that technically won't be your kids. What the f…?
And how they found themselves agreeing to it?
Maybe Monica wished to have kids along the way. Wendell just went along with whatever she wanted, as always. So they found themselves agreeing to this kid god plot. They accepted.
If he didn't believe in magic or the supernatural before, he just had to look at his very pregnant wife. They didn't even have sex, and she was pregnant as soon as they agreed to be the parents of this children. Surreal didn't even start to describe it. Monica had given birth to a set of twins. A boy and a girl, it had been painless. She was in her second pregnancy. For them, it had been at least two years. And apparently, time had frozen over on the world. For it had been just weeks since they disappeared.
Extraordinary things apparently happened to unassuming people like a couple of dentist taking a vacation.
Monica and Wendell were happy enough living with Yoh and Hao. It was difficult to think of them as being adults of their own when they looked no older than 15.
At the back of their minds, they still couldn't believe it. Picking up his frowning toddler, Wendell thought that the world really was a weird and mysterious place, and that they could've been worse. So far, they were happy and safe. Right?
There was something that they couldn't quite place their finger on it. Monica and him felt an acute sense of lost even in their current happiness. They had felt it ever since they could remember and it weighed on their unconscious mind and whenever they had a free moment they discussed it quietly.
Yoh and Hao weren't forthcoming with information about this.
…
Lying eyes on the mysterious girl she had seen before was just the icing on the weirdest cake. Hermione looked at her with undivided attention. She was outside the cabin that came out of nowhere, with a Japanese tea cup and surrounded by cats. She seemed content enough just looking at the sky as if it held all the answers in the world. Hanging from the ceiling of the cabin porch, dreamcatchers and wind-belts made a colorful sight. They had many and with vivid colors.
After a while, the girl seemed to realize she had company as her eyes landed on Hermione. Her deep brown eyes that seemed old beyond her years regarded her quietly.
They could've been staring at each other for minutes or for an eternity. One of the cats made its way to Hermione, its meowing and insistent rubbing of her legs finally broke the spell.
She was reminded of Crookshanks and her immediate reaction was to knell and pet it.
The girl smiled at her, something on her face seemed to glow. She wasn't just your average girl.
_ You finally made it. - the girl said, standing up with some difficulty, Hermione noticed she was pregnant. - We have something to discuss.
She really felt bad pointing her wand at a pregnant person, her parents might have something to say about it. But she couldn't risk it. She was alone far away from family and friends.
The girl stared at her with her deep brown eyes old beyond her age.
They were in a stalemate.
