A Day to Rest

Once, many years ago, Reen beat Vin. It wasn't the first time, and it wasn't the last, but it was her first taste of what it meant to pass out from pain. Her body, even with the tiny smidgens of pewter she was unconsciously burning from mugs at that age, did its best to save her after he kicked her side repeatedly. Her eyes closed and her mind went silent. It was like a year in a single moment. A copper's worth in a pewter's flare - all of the pain in her body echoed and tried to hide for a brief few seconds as she struggled to breathe.

Then he leaned down, slapped her across the face, and she woke up.

"You need to be able to take this," her brother said. "When I leave you, he will need you to be able to work." 'He' referred to whatever crew leader they were hiding with at that moment. Over a dozen crews later and they still hadn't found someplace to stay.

Reen had tried to make it so she could be strong. Questions could lead to beatings - blinking could lead to beatings - so if she was to survive, she would need to be able to take her punishments.

After all, she was half-skaa. She was a mistake and would always be hunted. If she wanted to live, she would need people who would protect them. People who would be paid to stave off the Steel Inquisition.

That was how Vin felt now. Stuck in a breath that had no air.

Since the attack on the USJ, there was an eventful silence. All the students were sent home for the day as UA dealt with reporters, which meant that Vin had to stay and avoid them in her room. She had been waiting for the past six hours. Usually, she would've loved the opportunity. Silence and peace away from the staff would have given her time to train and relax.

But this wasn't like all the times before, she needed to get out of here.

Someone knows.

One of the last few things Vin had suffered through on Scadrial was a war. Some of her closest friends had died as a blockade of monsters encircled Luthadel. Those monsters, koloss, were creatures of violence that once put in a frenzy would destroy anything. She had arrived just in time to save her kingdom. The way to do so involved using zinc and brass to somehow break into the koloss' minds and control them. TenSoon, a kandra, had taught her the trick. But she hadn't given it any thought.

Since arriving in Japan, something felt off in her mind. Something she missed. Like catching a pickpocket's hand in an empty bag. There wasn't anything to steal, so why was he there?

But now… something about spikes rang in her mind. Many koloss had died in the attack, and their bodies all had four pewter nails in their bodies. She had given them to Sazed to investigate before Elend had returned and-

The Well. Power. Her earring being removed and a godly presence over her shoulder. The calm voice turned into a harsh one. Then waking up here.

Vin shook her head. She was on the ground with papers strewn about. Some had hasty notes, things she remembered about kandra, and others were of Allomantic charts. Her pen danced across papers as she frantically tried to empty the pain in her mind - something was here and it was going to burst. She couldn't focus until it was done!

Koloss had spikes. Steel Inquisitors had them also. They, along with the kandra, were all created by the Lord Ruler. He was a paranoid tyrant that went as far to sterilize his own people to prevent another Allomantic Feruchemist from coming into existence. He had created a way of controlling all three creatures, all of them with spikes in their bodies.

Marsh had never told them how he had been turned into an Inquisitor. He had only ever described it as a 'messy process' that involved many bodies.

It gave him the powers of a Mistborn. He was just a Seeker before. What if the spikes are tied to Allomancy? Could they somehow steal a person's power and place it in someone else?

A horrible drawing of a koloss and where they found each nail was picked up. Four pewter nails. A creature created for battle. Then a list of all the different types of spikes Marsh had in his body was stacked on top of it. Steel ones on the eyes. Iron, bronze, tin, and others over their chest - along with a linchpin spike in their back. Can the human body only take so much and that allows someone to withstand extra Allomantic powers?

Then where did that leave kandra? They were mistwraiths that had 'grown up', OreSeur said. What if they were spiked too, and that gave them their sentience?

Vin picked up one last paper, a picture taken by a reporter that was already on the internet. Hagakure had sent it to her a few hours before and Vin asked Snipe to print it for her. The picture showed a blurred photo of Nomu, the proclaimed artificial human that was brought to kill All Might. She had followed it and found a spike in its shoulders.

As she lay the photo and her sketch side-by-side, she noticed a few similarities between the two monstrous-sized beasts.

There's another way to use Allomancy, she realized. A way to steal powers and give them to someone else. Is that how Nomu was created? Did someone use this spiking power to steal Quirks and push them into a single person?

Was there a way she could be allowed to see the monster? Inspect it closer, maybe be allowed to study it - dissect it - to find other spikes.

"Absolutely not."

Vin whirled around at Aizawa's voice. He was standing in the doorway, leaning against it, more like. Bandages covered his face and his arm was in a cast. He must've noticed Vin's photograph and her notes, piecing them together with what he knew about her past.

She scrambled to her feet. "You're supposed to be healing."

"I am," he grunted. "But even with Shuzenji, this isn't going to heal overnight. They'll probably take the cast off in a week."

"And the rest of it?" Vin waved at the bandages around his face.

"Thought it might freak out the rest of the students. It'll keep them on their toes and show them that not everything goes to plan."

Vin raised an eyebrow. "Harsh."

"Life is." Aizawa slowly leaned away from the doorframe and walked inside. He frowned as a page stuck to his foot and picked it up. "What's this?"

Vin tore away the page. It was a list of every metal she could burn, including the ones she no longer used. With a sigh, Aizawa stepped over to Vin's bed and sat down.

"You haven't talked to anyone."

"I haven't been able to leave."

"We had to put everything on lockdown to recheck our security systems," he explained. "And all the other students had to be escorted back after Shuzenji discharged them."

"Even All Might? And Midoriya?"

"All Might was taken to a hospital. And your friend was sent home. He didn't have as many injuries as we expected him to have. Hell, with an attack like this, it's a miracle almost nobody except Thirteen and I was hurt."

"It wasn't luck," Vin snapped. "If it wasn't for my classmates taking on all the lesser villains and getting help, Nomu could have crushed you into the concrete."

Aizawa sighed. "You're right. They did do good. But so did you." He got back up on his feet. "I came here to tell you that the test you were going to take for going on patrols isn't going to happen."

"What?" Vin's fists clenched and she stopped herself from burning duralumin with zinc to make him take that back. It was torture not being able to do anything at night. Even without the mists, the wind on her face, the lurching of her stomach… Vin missed it desperately.

"Because," he continued, "I don't think it's necessary. You proved you could handle yourself to me and to the staff. There are things that can use improvement, but that'll happen as we go." Aizawa walked back to the door, this time careful not to step on any scattered notes. "Now go to bed. Just because classes were canceled doesn't mean you get to stay up all night. And if you try to go after the League of Villains yourself, I will make sure you stay in this room until you graduate."

Vin, for once, couldn't tell if he was being serious or if this was just another one of his tests. Whoever was in charge of the League, and it certainly wasn't Shigaraki, knew about an art only the Lord Ruler was aware of. If he could create Quirk-filled koloss, then what was stopping him from making Inquisitors?

Or worse, turning himself into another immortal tyrant?

The lights flicked off as Aizawa left. With a grumble, she picked up one of the blankets and threw it onto the ground. She laid down and closed her eyes. A few minutes later, sleep overtook her and she dreamed of her family - Kelsier, Breeze, Dockson, Clubs, Ham, Spook, and, of course, Elend.

Sweat fell down the side of Kirishima's face as he narrowly avoided getting punched in the face. His Harden wasn't going to protect him so he had to step back and reorient himself.

C'mon dude, he thought. We've got this. All I've got to do is land one manly punch and I win!

Kirishima wiped away the sweat off his forehead and smiled at Vin. "I thought you were faster," he joked.

She didn't speak. In fact, after laying down the ground rules of their spar, she hadn't said a thing. All Vin did was glare at him - even when she was kicking at him (and he at her), she kept her eyes glued to his.

He shuddered. Creepy.

Kirishima shifted his weight onto the front of his feet and charged. He raised his fist and got ready to punch at her but she suddenly dropped to her knee and swept at his leg.

Just like he thought she would.

Before her kick could knock his legs off balance, he jumped up and vaulted forward, now ready to punch downward at her. His eyes caught hers and he swore she smiled.

Uh oh, he thought as she used her kick's momentum to spin her around, grab his arm, and pull him over her shoulder. Kirishima gasped as he was suddenly thrown, head first, into the mat. With a groan, he rose to his feet and saw that she had disappeared.

His instincts kicked in. Above you! Kirishima raised his arms, crossed them, and Hardened. She grunted as her chop connected to his stone-like skin and landed on her feet.

"That's it," she said, picking up a towel from the ground. "We're done."

Kirishima winced. He'd gone back on his word and that wasn't manly. He grabbed Vin's arm and felt it rip out of his grasp. "I'm sorry. I know we said no Quirks but it just happened."

"It happened because you got scared," Vin said. "You use your Quirk like it's a muscle. It needs to be used to strengthen it. But you are relying on it." She grabbed one of her vials and suddenly threw a few coins at him. They bounced off his chest as he flexed his Quirk before returning back to her hand. "Every time you use your Quirk, you exhaust yourself. Using it too much and you will get tired. Like a muscle."

"Which is why I came to you!" Kirishima said. He and Vin were standing in the UA's private gym (to him, it was more like a hanger). Mats were scattered around, along with different exercise equipment and additions for every type of Quirk-user/Pro-Hero/student to use. He and Vin were the only ones here though. Apparently, in the aftermath of a villain attack, people didn't want to do training the next day even if they all agreed to it.

When he arrived, Vin was already in the gym but she seemed surprised to see him. And saddened when he was the only one to show. Kirishima had asked for help with his combat skills and she had been pushing him since. The kicker, no pun intended because it was low-hanging fruit and he was too manly to not go for something higher, was that she was ignoring his Quirk.

So they raced, exercised, and fought purely with strength, speed, and skill. No powers. At least until now.

Kirishima Hardened his arms and displayed them. "Wouldn't it be better if I worked on my Quirk? Made it tougher? Or spread it further over my body?"

"What you need is to be able to handle yourself without relying on it," Vin countered. "Before we work on your Quirk, we need to strengthen you."

He physically drooped. It made sense, but the whole point of going to a Hero school was to be a Pro-Hero. Not to just be a really good fighter. Besides, he was already top of his class in judo and was even taking boxing lessons. He could handle himself. It was just that Vin's fighting style was completely different from anything he had ever seen. Even when she wasn't using her Quirk, she had this strange ability to move faster than possible, jump higher than usual, and punch harder than anyone her size should.

Vin sighed. "But if you want to work on your Quirk, I do have an idea."

"Really?!"

She nodded and walked up to him. "Use your Quirk on your chest." When he did, she placed a hand on his bicep. "Why do you cover your entire chest?"

"Uhhh." Kirishima blushed. "Because it protects my chest?"

"Why waste the energy to protect all of it when you can just Harden the spots about to be hit? Or wait until you absolutely need it?" She stepped back and pulled her fist behind her. "From now on, you can't use your Quirk until you absolutely need to. And try to only cover the areas that I will hit."

Why did I open my big mouth? Kirishima gaped as Vin charged.

"Do you think they actually showed up?" Mina asked, her phone held out and on speaker as she, Hagakure, and Tsuyu walked through the UA gates.

Jiro, who was running late, said "Isn't Kirishima your friend? Do you think he spent the day off playing video games like Kaminari? Or do you think he knocked on Vin's door and begged her for the training session?"

"True, ribbit," the green-haired girl smiled. She placed a finger on her lip. "But would Vin give him help or spend some time on herself?"

Hagakure giggled. "She'd definitely choose training."

Mina smiled and shut off the call. They all walked together toward the gym but stopped when they started to hear cries, prompted by something being hit hard.

Bamf! "Ow!" Oomph! "Ow!" Bang! "OW!"

"Sounds like they're having fun," Hagakure said, slowly creaking the door open. They peaked through the crack, watching as Kirishima quite literally stood there and took Vin's abuse. She would punch at him and he would just take the hit, flinch, and the whole thing would repeat.

Mina's eyes widened. "What're you doing?" She pushed the door open and rushed inside.

The second he saw her, Kirishima beamed. "Hey! We're just working on my Quirk."

"Looks rather painful," Tsuyu said as she and Hagakure joined Mina. "You're going to have a lot of bruises, ribbit."

"Nothing I'm not used to!" Vin swung at him once more, bringing a sideways punch to his side. But this time, instead of the sound of skin on skin, it was more like skin on cement - Kirishima had made his skin stone-like just before the punch landed.

His smile grew even larger. "I did it! That was so ma-!" His voice turned into a silent shriek as Vin kicked him right between his legs.

All three girls gasped as he hunched over and fell to the ground. Vin simply dusted off ear hands.

"Don't let anything distract you," she said.

Kirishima squeaked from the floor in response.

Vin looked up at them and, for a moment, Mina could swear she smiled. But it the joy quickly disappeared behind her neutral eyes. "What are you doing here?"

"We came to get you!" Hagakure answered. "But we didn't know you were busy beating up Kirishima."

From the floor, he whimpered. "I'm taking it.. like… a man!"

Mina patted him on the back. "We were still a little sore from yesterday so everyone, except Kirishima, decided to cancel. But Hagakure had a great idea on what to do to celebrate."

"Celebrate?" Vin asked.

"Surviving a villain attack!" The invisible girl said. She rushed over to Vin and grabbed her arm. "Even for Pro's, that's something to be amazed by. And no injuries? Even luckier!"

Tsuyu nodded. "Care to join us on a trip to the mall, ribbit?"

"The mall? What's that?"

Everyone paused to share a glance. "You know… the mall?" Hagakure said. "Shopping? Juice bars? Book stores? Where was it you came from again?"

"An English monastery," she answered quickly.

Mina shrugged her shoulders. "I guess that makes sense. I don't think they have smoothie breaks in between bible sessions." She helped Kirishima stand up. "So what d'ya say? Wanna come?"

Very quickly, Vin began to shake her head. Then she froze and her shoulders rolled back like she was taking off a coat. "… Fine."

"Really?" Hagakure asked. "Yes!"

"Jiro's going to meet us there if you want to get changed," Mina said.

Vin looked down at her sweats. "What's wrong with this?"

Mina grabbed her other arm and started pulling her out of the gym. "What isn't?" She, Vin, Hagakure, and Tsuyu all left the gym and left Kirishima standing against the wall. His knees wobbled as he tried to step toward the showers, muttering how manly it was of him to try and walk off his pain.

He then fell to the ground and decided to take a well-deserved nap.

For the second time in the last hour, Vin was standing in front of a mirror while a group of women judged her. Earlier, it was just to decide what to wear to the mall (neither Hagakure nor Mina was impressed by her bland wardrobe that mostly consisted of gym clothes and school uniforms). But now she was being made to try on pile after pile of strange clothes that Mina said would look 'cute' on her.

If there was one thing Vin wasn't used to being called, it was cute.

Remembering her last shopping spree with Tindwyl and Allrianne, Vin was appreciative of their opinion and specialty in Japanese attire. But that didn't mean she had to enjoy the clothing.

"This isn't covering too little?" Vin asked, holding a hand across the pink tube top and black mini skirt that Mina had picked out for her to try on. It was almost just two strips of clothing that only hid away her most private parts. Her face was an unnatural red as she tried to keep the skirt from riding up.

Mina giggled and tried to pull her arms out so they could see the whole outfit. "Nope! I have this exact same outfit at home."

In the same size, I bet, she grumbled, well aware of the pink-skinned girl's mature body.

"But if you're not comfortable with it, then let's try something else." Mina helped cover Vin as she went back into the changing room. Even though she was pushing Vin to try something new, she was kind enough to see when something wasn't in her comfort zone. A moment later, another armful of clothes was handed to her by Hagakure. Vin sighed, but quickly changed into it.

As Vin opened the door, she encountered the exact opposite problem. Mina's outfit was too little, Hagakure's was too much. Long-sleeved shirt, gloves, pants, a hat, another top on her first one, and heavy boots made it feel as if Vin was going to crumble to the ground.

"Isn't that a little hot for the summer?" Jiro asked.

Hagakure crossed her arms. "I am invisible! Most of my clothes either help people to see all of me."

"Or lack of, ribbit," Tsuyu commented. She was the only one that wasn't pulling down different types of clothing for Vin to try.

"I know!" Hagakure whined. "It sucks! Especially in the winter."

Vin sighed and stepped back into the changing room, where Jiro had placed her own choice for Vin to try on. When she exited, everyone squealed.

"That's perfect!" Mina and Hagakure exclaimed as Jiro and Tsuyu nodded.

Vin looked down. It was a very simple outfit, compared to the ones she had been trying on. A short-sleeved blouse with pants (thank Sazed's forgotten gods that women were allowed to wear pants without strange looks on this planet), a loose belt, and a leather jacket. She looked at her reflection and turned around. It was still tight in some places like her front and rear, but it wasn't skin tight.

She tried to put her hands in her pockets but was only able to get a few inches inside. Not enough for my vials, she thought. But good mobility. Vin stretched her arms and was shocked at how little the jacket restricted her.

"Punk suits you!" Mina smiled, jumping up behind her. She pulled down the top a bit, trying to get Vin to show more cleavage, but the Mistborn pulled it back up.

Jiro nodded in agreement. "Now if only we could do something about that hair…"

Once again, Vin blushed. Her hair was a weakness of hers. She used to keep it short, to try and convince people she met that she wasn't a girl, but Kelsier helped convince her to grow it out. Then, after the Lord Ruler's defeat, she had let it continue to grow - Elend had commented how beautiful it looked and she couldn't bring herself to cut it since. On the other hand, it was a hazard. Longer hair meant it was easier to be pulled on. But with everything else that had changed in her life, she didn't know if she could convince herself to make that drastic of a change yet. Nothing remained from her home except for her own body. To change that would be throwing away one of the last links she had to her old life.

"Okay, so that's one outfit down," Mina said, taking a picture of Vin before she could Pull the phone out of her hand. "One more today. You pick."

Hagakure held out a hanger with tattered clothing on it. "What about this?"

Why would I pay for torn-up clothes? she wondered as she shook her head. Vin looked around the room. The store was gigantic compared to the shops she was used to and the mall was almost as big as some villages Vin had visited. Most of the clothes were too revealing for her taste. Others were ones Vin would match with the one she was wearing currently. But nothing caught her eye.

A woman walked past with some red cloth and Vin pointed at it. That's the one. Jiro picked up the same one from a rack that was closer to Vin's measurements and passed it to her slowly. Vin took it and quickly rushed into the changing room.

A minute later, she stepped out and everyone gasped. It was a beautiful dress, an off-shoulder ball gown that seemed to magically add blush to Vin's cheeks and lipstick to her lips just by being worn. She carried it forward like she was born wearing it and gave it a small spin, blowing the trim and frills outward before setting it back down just above her feet.

"Oh my God," the four women muttered.

Vin, this time, didn't blush and gave a small curtsy. "It's a bit longer than what I'm used to."

Mina fell backward onto a chair. "This isn't fair! How can she be so strong and so beautiful just by wearing a dress!"

Nodding violently, Hagakure began to circle around Vin to study her from every angle. "What kind of monastery is having you wear that?" she whispered.

"It's like you're a princess," Tsuyu muttered.

Jiro stood still for a moment. "I think if we heighten the skirt, trim off a bit of the excess fabric, and maybe add a push-up bra, Vin might just have a shot at getting any Pro-Hero to ask her out."

Now, Vin blushed. "It's not as impressive as others I've worn. And if it could get fitted for me, I think it'll look better. But I don't want any Pro-Hero's trying to woo me."

"'Woo' you?" Hagakure asked. "Vin, you've already wooed us! Seriously, how do you not have a boyfriend? Or maybe a girlfriend?"

"I…" Vin stuttered and coughed. She went silent and stepped back. Was that permitted in this world? Tribades weren't exactly looked down upon in the Final Empire, but they weren't accepted either. Marriages were down out of love or interest, they were political agreements between families. She reached for a cord around her neck, one of the only things she had left of him, and shook her head. She had just lost one lover, she couldn't already be interested in another.

Right?

Mina grabbed her hand. "Wait, I want to get a picture first! For Uraraka and Momo."

Vin paused. "Aren't they busy?"

"Uraraka's helping her parents sort out some forms," Jiro said, checking her phone.

"And Momo?"

"Well…"

In her room, Momo threw up into a bucket. Her parents had tried to get their doctor to come in, but she wouldn't allow it. It wasn't an issue they could solve anyway. She didn't get injured during the attack.

But she did hurt someone.

As she wiped her mouth, she found it strange how that little bit of realization made her stomach feel as if it were being compressed into atoms. She knew that, as a Hero, she would have to fight villains. She knew that she'd have to form weapons to contain or incapacitate them.

Momo groaned and leaned back against her bathtub. Sweat made her hair stick to her forehead. She dared not close her eyes because-

She pulled out a knife from her stomach and handed it to Vin. "What do you-?"

The strange girl that drew so much attention from her spun the knife in her hand before throwing it impossibly far down toward Eraserhead and the villains surrounding him. One of them was sneaking up on him. But before he could hurt him, the knife hit him in the back and embedded the blade into his spine.

The villain fell to the ground as blood began to pool out.

And Momo made that knife. She made a weapon that killed a man. She was the murder weapon.

Momo looked down at her phone, reading another text from Mina, asking if she'd be coming to the mall. As much as she wanted to, she knew she couldn't. She had something more important to do.

Her fingers danced across the phone. Momo hit send and sighed.

If only I could say goodbye…

Hagakure was holding Mina's phone as she was convincing Vin to try on a set of boots for her gown, though Vin seemed to have a preference for slippers. The device buzzed when Momo's text landed and, when she read it, she almost dropped the phone.

Hearing this, Vin looked up. "What's wrong?"

Knowing that their friend needed help, Hagakure began to father everyone's stuff. "It's Momo," she said. "I think she's making a huge mistake."

'I'm sorry,' it read. 'But I will be leaving the Hero course.'

Midoriya, on the top of UA 's roof, watches as All Might flies by. But beneath him in the shadows, Vin looks down at the ground to see black tendrils spreading out. A wide smile glows inside of the darkness as she scowls. Her mistcloak unfurls as the words 'My Mistborn Academia' flash on the screen.

One day I set my eyes to the sky and like a plane my dreams were passing by

Uraraka stretches at a beachside where different items lay scattered in front of her.

And I awoke to tears that filled my eyes, I need to spread my wings and fly

A confident smile stretches across Kirishima's face as he stands in the mirror, using his Quirk to Harden and deHarden rapidly as he flexes.

I lie awake at night with these memories of feeling powerless and their haunting me

Bakugo's eye twitches as he rapidly squats and rises. Sweat pours down his body, making small explosions as it hits the ground.

I'm always reaching out for this destiny to make it happen - that's all on me

Momo eats a tub of ice cream as she reads a book on metallurgy and robotics.

Cruel fate sets in motion and no one else knows why

Still atop UA's roof, Midoriya stretches backward. His eyes look up to the sky and catch the reflection of the sun.

Waiting for the day to come, when it will show up? Claiming what's before my eyes

Now in the gym, Vin winds around two poles on opposite sides of the room. Blue iron and steel-lines shine from her chest as a shadow passes over the windows.

With every issue, I gotta breathe through, or the moment just might pass

Breathing in and out, Todoroki spreads his arms on a darkened field. As the cloud passes, light returns, and he turns around.

They were all telling me I can't, they were laughing

Three groups smile back at him. The first, Midoriya's, consisting of himself, Uraraka, Iida, Tsuyu, and Sero. Then Vin with Momo, Hagakure, Mina, Kirishima, and Tokoyami. Ojirou blushes as he stands in front of Kaminari, Jiro, Kouda, Satou, and Shouji. Bakugo was nowhere to be seen.

They each hold their hands out confidently and offer Todoroki a place with their teams

Well look who's laughing now

In a stadium, the members of class 1A all charge forward toward each other. Vin and Bakugou rise into the air as Midoriya and Todoroki meet on the ground. Iida runs around, causing dust to rise up only to have Momo throw a bolas at his legs. Each of the other classmates begins to attack as a boy with purple hair looks on from the shadows.

Now I can feel the fire burning deep within me

A black wave courses throughout the field as Dark Shadow forms to throw Vin into the air - right toward Bakugou after he holds out his palms. A girl with strange eyes cackles as she marvels at the sight and reaches into a bag. Kirishima smashes his head against a man made of metal and smiles. A purple orb rolls onto the field, making Momo stumble.

I'll be the hero and no one can stop me

All Might lands atop the stadium to study his students. Behind him, like he was staring at a screen, a man smiles and folds his hands, watching a few specific people.

Loudly I will scream it from the depth of my lungs

Smiling proudly, All Might spins around, letting his cape flutter and stretch to the horizon. As his cape falls, and light begins to shine, Aizawa and Present Mic join his side.

You've got those tired eyes from crying every moment

All of the students in class 1A turn to look at UA high where All Might and his fellow teachers were now standing. They all look forward and upward. Midoriya stands up front, clenching his fists, as Vin looks back to see the darkness before it slowly sinks back into the shadows.

You cannot hide it, someone's gonna notice

Uraraka, Iida, Momo, and Kirishima all leap forward, determination in their eyes.

I'll be your hero - no one's going to hurt you again

Now Vin, Midroiya, and Todoroki all race toward each other. Their fists slam together, forming an explosion of light.

Gonna raise my hand with a peace sign

As the light fades, everyone is back in their Hero uniforms. Each of the poses they used now reflected their current stature - taking what they learned and applying it to their role as Heroes.

Our story will last forever!

Huge, huge, thanks to my Pat. supporters:

I'm back! That's right, you heard it here, I am back and ready for more! I'm so excited to be getting back on this Fic. I didn't realize how much I missed this story and all the things I have planned until I started to sit down and write.

A lot of thanks go to S.o.S this chapter because there were quite a few times where I just wanted to restart but he helped me change a mess of a chapter into something resembling a storyline. Which, to be honest, I am proud of. It's not easy to take such a complex character like Vin and shove her into an entirely new genre.

Especially with a whole new format.

I'm very excited to work on the next chapter, will be dealing with what Hagakure read - I really want to focus on the fact that not everyone is fine with Vin's mindset and actions. If her friends don't try to help her, can she truly change? Hearing it from Aizawa is one thing, but Class 1A?

Let's find out, shall we?

Also, thank you so, so much for all the comments on chapter 16. It was great seeing how everyone reacted to one of the things I've been waiting to show since chapter 1. I hope all of you were able to wait this past year as I planned it out in my mind even further.

My dream of being the number one Mistborn FanFic writer still has not been achieved! Slavok's Beautiful Destroyer still holds that record with a difference of 171 Favorites and 275 Follows. We are in 4th though, directly behind Metal like Roses! C'mon everyone, we can do this!

Read on, my warriors and share with your friends.
