Author's Note
This chapter is a bit slow, but I promise that it will start picking up soon.
Planning a time skip, so Emily is old enough to explore the world and play around with her magic.
As she walked through the house, Emily took her time to look at the picture in the house to see what else she could find out about her new home and family.
There were plenty of pictures of her and her sister and their mom, which was an odd sight for Emily. But she didn't see any with a man in them, so Emily guessed that her mom was a single mom.
It would explain why she was left on her own if there was only one working parent, then she wouldn't be able to miss work as there wouldn't be much money coming into the home in the first place.
Leaving the living room, Emily got to the kitchen, which was small but clean. Walking over to the fridge, Emily opened the door and looked to see what she could eat.
There wasn't much in the fridge, but she did spy a yoghurt that would do if she couldn't find anything else. Closing the door, Emily checked the freezer and found a drawer full of ready meals.
Looking through them, Emily pulled out a ready meal and looked at how it needed to be cooked and was thankful that it just required the microwave.
Emily closed the freezer and set about cooking the ready meal as she sat down at the table and waited for the meal to cook. She was a little upset that she had missed going to school today, but she comforted herself that she would be able to go tomorrow.
Other than that, Emily didn't really have any plans. She was far too young to be allowed out on her own, and her magic was too weak for her to change what she looked like.
After getting food, Emily started to explore the house. Emily was surprised at the size of the house, even if it was only a single story. There was a total of seven rooms in the house, two of them being a bathroom.
Only one of the bathrooms actually had a bath in it. Other than that, there was the living room and kitchen, their mom's bedroom and hers and Bella's bedroom and another room that was used for storage.
They even had a front and back garden. Though to call them a garden may be a bit of a stretch, given that there was no grass on either of them.
Seeing nothing else to do, Emily walked to the back door and unlocked it before opening it and flinched at the hot air. She wasn't used to the heat as she used magic to make the air around her a comfortable temperature.
Emily decided she would have to see if she was able to do that once she was fully recovered, as she could feel herself getting hot and sticky after a few minutes.
Emily walked out of the house, looked around the back garden, and was disappointed that they didn't have a pool. It was undoubtedly big enough for one, and it could be very nice with a bit of cleaning and some work.
It was something that would have to wait till she was older and had the ability to get money. Then again, Emily wondered how her mom was able to buy a house like this as a single parent.
Maybe it used to belong to their grandparents. In the end, Emily stopped caring and went back inside the house to escape from the heat. With nothing to do, Emily went back to her room and started looking through the drawers.
Looking through the drawers, she didn't find much of interest but did find her school uniform that had her grade on it, letting her know that she was in grade four, so she should be nine years old.
That was nice to know, at the very least. So that meant that she was still in Elementary school but near the end. Sitting back down on her bed, Emily reached for her magic.
With minimal effort, Emily used her magic to move her pillow around the room. She soon started to make it go faster and do complex shapes bringing a smile to her face at how her control over her magic hadn't gone either.
Bringing the pillow back to herself, Emily let out a yawn and laid back down on her bed. It turned out that even 20 minutes of using her magic to move a pillow around was enough to tire her out. Emily let out one last yawn before she fell asleep.
"Emily! Emily!" A voice called out, waking her from her sleep.
Emily looked up to see her sister standing next to the bed.
"Yes?" Emily asked as she stretched out.
"Mom told me to get you for dinner. Are you feeling better?" Bella asked, looking worried.
"Yep, I went back to bed as there was nothing to do during the day on my own. How was school?" Emily asked.
"It was good, but I missed you," Bella said as Emily got out of bed.
Emily smiled at her sister. "Let's get dinner."
Emily followed Bella out of the room and into the kitchen, where their mom was cooking, which brought a smile to her face. She hadn't liked the ready meal she had for dinner and wasn't looking forward to having to eat another one.
"Hello, Emily, are you feeling better?" the woman asked, walking over to kiss her forehead.
"Yes, mom, thank you," Emily said, unable to stop the smile on her face.
"Im making chicken pasta. It will be ready in 10 minutes if you and Bella want to go watch TV."
Emily looked over at Bella. "Sure, mom," she said before leaving with Bella and sitting down on the couch where Bella turned on the tv and put some cartoons on to watch.
Emily started to watch the Tv. In her first life, she had never had the chance to watch TV as she had grown up around books. Emily found herself enjoying the show.
Ironically enough, it was about a princess of a magical kingdom who had been sent away to the none magical world for her safety.
"Dinner is ready!" their mom called out from the kitchen.
"Coming," Bella called back, turning the TV off, and Emily followed her into the kitchen, even if she did want to watch the end of the show.
"Are you looking forward to school tomorrow?" mom asked as they sat down.
"Yep, I was bored today once I woke up," Emily said.
"What did I miss today?" Emily asked Bella as the three of them started to eat dinner. Emily was surprised at how well-balanced the food was. Over half the plate was vegetables, and there was a good amount of meat.
"We learned about the circulatory system in science. We started fractions and decimals in math and Similes and Metaphors in English. I have my notes if you want them," Bella said after taking another bite of dinner.
"Sure, if that is okay," Emily said. She doubted that she would learn anything from them, but it wouldn't hurt to have a look.
Once dinner was done, both Bella and Emily went back to watch TV for a few hours before they were sent to bed. Emily lay in bed as she wasn't able to sleep as she spent most of the day asleep.
Knowing that she needed to sleep, Emily used her magic to pick up the bed and place it back down on the ground a few times before she passed out from tiredness.
Emily smiled as they walked back from school. The school year was finally over, and it was the summer holidays. Emily couldn't help but shake her head that she, at one point, actually wanted to go to school.
"What's the matter?" Bella asked as they walked up the street. Thankfully it was only a 10-minute walk from their house, so they didn't need their mom to pick them up or drop them off.
"Nothing, I just can't believe that summer is finally here," Emily said.
Emily just hoped as they went up in grades that, she would actually learn something, or she could see that she would start skipping school as it was driving her mad to learn nothing.
"Ya, we will be visiting dad for a few weeks at some point over the summer," Bella said.
Emily had learned that her mom was married but had divorced and moved away with her and Bella, and they had a grandmother who had died two years ago, and that was whose house they were living in.
"Yep, do you have anything else planned for summer?" Emily asked, knowing that it wasn't likely given how neither she nor Bella had any real friends at school.
"I plan on visiting the library, and I think mom wanted us to try ballet," Bella said the last part unenthusiastically.
Emily knew why Bella wasn't looking forward to ballet, given that she was able to trip on a flat surface. It made Emily a little worried, but even after a doctors trip, there was nothing wrong with Bella.
Emily spoke to her father every week when he rang up. Something that he did every week, and she knew that they went to spend two weeks with him over the summer.
Getting home Emily wasn't surprised to see that their mom wasn't home yet. As a kindergarten teacher, their mom wouldn't be back for another hour and a half.
Emily got changed and put her school clothing into the clothes basket before going back into her room and pulling out a ring on a necklace. It had been hard to get something in with a diamond, but their grandmother had left something behind for them.
And her mom said she could wear it as a necklace as long as it wasn't at school, so it couldn't get lost. At some point over the summer, Emily planned on resizing it so that she could wear it constantly.
It wouldn't cost her very much, so she would be able to get away with using magic to create the money to pay for it. Walking back out into the living room, she turned the Tv on and looked over at Bella, who was reading a book.
Emily smiled and started watching TV while slowly transferring magic into the diamonds on the ring. She had almost filled all the small diamonds around the centre diamond to their saturation.
There was enough magic in the ring that, based on her experience, it should allow her to teleport over 40 times or blow up a house if she wanted to.
"Do you think mermaids are real?" Bella asked, nodding towards the TV where a movie about mermaids was on.
"Err, I don't think so, but if they do, they are very good at hiding from normal people," Emily said as she watched the TV.
"Shame, I would like to be a mermaid," Bella said with a sigh.
"Really... I guess it wouldn't be too bad. What about being a witch or wizard," Emily said, pointing to the Harry Potter book that she was reading.
"As long as im, not Harry Potter," Bella replied, turning the page.
"Would you prefer to be Hermione?" Emma asked.
"Ya, Hermione is good as long as I don't have to deal with a crazy person trying to kill me."
Emily was about to ask more but remembered that only the first book was out at the moment. It was strange for her to learn that not only had she been born in a new body, but she had also gone back in time as well.
But she shrugged it off. She didn't have any friends or family in her first life, so she didn't have anyone that she would miss or that would miss her.
"Do you think we will need to make dinner?" Emily asked Bella.
"Maybe we have everything in to make spaghetti bolognese," Bella said as she turned another page.
"How about we cook it once you're done with the chapter?" Emily asked.
"Sure, go get everything ready, and I will be done by the time you have got everything set up," Bella said, smiling at her.
Emily smiled back and walked into the kitchen and pulled out two pots, and placed them on the cooker. Emily didn't mind cooking after all. She lived till she was just shy of eighteen in her first life.
Emily was just glad that she was here to help Bella, and it was something for them to bond over.
Walking over to the fridge, Emily took out all the ingredients that they would need for the spaghetti bolognese and placed them on the cooking boards.
True to her word, as soon as she had finished getting set up, Bella walked into the kitchen and grabbed an apron and slipped it on.
"I will cut up the garlic and ginger if you get the onion?" Bella suggested.
"I see how it is. You just want me to cry," Emily said back, smiling as she grabbed the onion.
"You never cry when cutting onions," Bella replied as she crushed the garlic.
Emily smiled to herself. Maybe it was a waste of magic, but she didn't want to cry, either.
They both fell into silence as they went about cooking dinner. It was quick and easy for them to do as they ended up making dinner at least two times a week, sometimes as much as four times a week.
"Right now, we let it simmer for thirty minutes," Bella said, placing a lid on the pot.
"Mom should be home by then to finish it off," Emily said, taking the cutting boards over to the sink and starting to wash them.

Emily found that the summer holidays were quite boring, maybe even more so than going to school.
"Do you want to go to the park?" Emily asked Bella, who was sitting re-reading Harry Potter.
"The park is more than a 10-minute walk, and mum said we can only go 10 minutes away," Bella replied.
"But there is nothing to do other than watch TV!" Emily moaned.
"Read a book, mum said," Bella started.
"Come on, Bella... Please," Emily said pleadingly.
"I... we shouldn't," Bella said, and Emily could hear her craking.
"Come on, mum won't be back for hours. She will never know if we went to the park for an hour or so," Emily replied, pouting.
"I... 1 hour that it..." Bella said, compromising with Emily.
Emily smiled as she used her magic to cast a cooling charm over her and jumped off the couch.
"Let's go!" Emily shouted.
"I need to get a key to lock the house," Bella said, getting out of the chair, walking over to a bowl, and grabbing a key and locking the door behind them.
"Right this way," Emily said, taking a right and walking to the end of the turnoff where their house was.
"Wait, we have to walk across all of these hills?" Bella said nervously.
"Ya, it's just over that hill," Emily said, pointing to the large hill.
"No, I can't climb up that hill Em," Bella said, shaking her head.
Emily looked back at the hill before agreeing with Bella in her mind and using her magic to scan the surrounding area.
Instantly an area view of the world around her appeared in her mind, and she was able to zoom in and out, allowing her to look for the best way to the park.
"Okay, I know another path that is easier," Emily said, grabbing Bella's hand, walking back onto the street, and taking a left.
"You sure we normally take the car to the park?" Bella said, sounding worried.
"Yep, just follow me," Emily said, walking towards the end of the street.
As they got to the end of the street, Emily and Bella continued walking up a road before reaching a fenced-off area.
"I don't think we are allowed here," Bella said, looking around.
"It's okay. We just have to walk down this hill, and past the tree line is the park," Emily said, taking Bella's hand and walking down the hill.
Emily wasn't shocked when she had to catch Bella, who had managed to trip three times on the way down the hill. She wasn't sure how Bella was so clumsy; the hill wasn't that steep, and they were walking on a dirt path.
Emily just shook her head in her mind and continued to hold Bella's hand just in case she tripped again. On reflection, maybe bringing her to the park was a bad idea.
"See, we are here, and it only took maybe ten minutes to walk here, so we didn't even break what mum said," Emily said, smiling.
"I don't think mom thought we would walk down that massive hill," Bella replied.
"Who cares? Come on, swings," Emily said, pulling Bella towards the swings.
Emily let go of Bella's hand once she got to the wings and started to play on the swings. In her old life, she lived in a very built-up city that had almost no parks, and it wasn't like anyone wanted to play with some homeless kid.
Bella walked over and took a seat on the swings before she started to swing back and forth very gently.
"Do you think I could do a full circle?" Emily asked Bella as she tried to swing higher and higher.
"Don't try. You will get hurt," Bella said, sounding very worried that Emily wouldn't listen to her.
"Okay!" Emily said, sighing to herself.
She wished Bella was much more adventurous. Hell, once she had learned to teleport, she had gone to some of the most dangerous places in the world.
Then again, she was 100% sure she couldn't get hurt due to having magic and died in a city.
Emily looked around before she saw an ice cream stand and licked her lips. Reaching the top of her swing, Emily let go and flew through the air. Emily let out a shout of excitement as she started to fall to the ground.
"Emily!" Bella shouted, getting off the sing worried for her sister.
Emily hit the ground and easily absorbed the impact turning around and grinning at her sister.
"That wasn't funny. I thought you could have been hurt!" Bella said, looking angry.
"It's fine. Come on, let's go get some ice cream," Emily said happily.
"We don't have any money."
"Not true. Mom let me have the change when we went shopping a few days ago," Emily said, pulling the change out of her pocket.
In her hand was a total of seven dollars. Of course, it was money that Emily had conjured with her magic, but she couldn't tell Bella that.
"Okay, then I guess we can get some ice cream," Bella said, smiling happily.
Bella and Emily walked across the park to the ice cream truck and waited in line as they looked over what they could get.
"Hello girls, what can I get you?" the ice cream man said, friendly.
"Hello, err can I get a Unicorn cone," Emily said before looking at Bella.
"Can I have the panda cone, please," Bella said.
"Coming right up."
The two girls watched as the man started to make their ice cream cones before he passed the first cone to Bella.
It was a soft vanilla scream, black vanilla waffle cone, crushed Oreos, and marshmallow bits, and Emily thought that it looked good.
A minute later, the ice cream man passed a cone to Emily, which was a vanilla soft scream, pink vanilla waffle cone, sprinkles, frosted animal crackers, and glitter dust.
"That will be four dollars," the ice cream man said.
"Here," Emily said, handing over the five dollars to the ice cream man.
"Thank you," the man said before putting the money away and handing a dollar back to Emily.
"Have a nice day, girls," the ice cream man said before looking at his next customer.
"We should head back home soon. Mum could be back soon, and we have to pack some clothes for when we go to days in a few days," Bella said as they walked back across the park. Emily was keeping an eye on Bella in case she tripped.
"How about we sit down, eat first, and then walk back home. It would be a shame to drop the ice cream," Emily said, walking towards a bench.
"That's probably a good idea," Bella said quietly.
Emily smiled to herself as she sat down on the bench, and Bella sat next to her.
"You looking forward to seeing dad?" Emily asked Bella.
"Yes, we only get to see him a few times per year," Bella said, sounding upset about the situation.
"Maybe we can ask him to come over at Christmas?" Emily suggested.
"Ya! We can ask mom when she gets back later," Bella said excitedly.
"You done?" Emily asked, looking at Bella's half-eaten ice cream cone.
"Yep, let's go back," Bella said as she got up and binned what was left of her cone.
Emily smiled as they walked back the way they came and started to walk up the dirt path on the hill.
Walking up the hill seemed to be more challenging for Bella than walking down it was. Still, Emily eventually helped Bella get to the top of the hill without getting injured.
Arriving home Emily was relieved to see that their mom hadn't returned home yet.
Bella unlocked the door, and they both walked into the house again, and Emily stopped the cooling spell that she had on herself.
Emily turned the TV on as she went to the kitchen to get something to drink. Thankfully neither she nor Bella needed to cook today as their mom had told them she would be bringing them takeaway back.
"We should finish getting packed for tomorrow," Bella said as Emily walked back into the room with her drink.
"Let me see if the mermaid show is on first," Emily said, grabbing the TV remote and flicking through the channels.
"You are obsessed with mermaids," Bella said, shaking her head.
Emily shot her sister a look. "How many times have you read that Harry Potter book? or Romeo and Juliet?" Emily asked back.
Emily saw Bella blush slightly before going back to read her book.

"Come on, girls, we have to get to the airport in the next 2 hours!" their mom shouted as their mom was putting the suitcases into the car.
Emily and Bella rushed out of the bathroom and made their way to the car.
"You can take the front seat," Emily said to Bella.
"You sure?" Bella asked.
"Ya, I may be able to get another 30 minutes to sleep in the back," Emily said as she crawled into the back seat.
Emily let out a groan. It was far too early in the morning for her. Laying down on the back seat, she couldn't wait to get on the plane. At least she would be able to sleep for a few hours as they flew.
She wasn't exactly sure where her dad lived, and she couldn't exactly ask Bella or her mom, given they had visited him every year for the last four years.
So Emily would just wait and see where it was. In fairness, she doubted it would matter, given that she would only see him once per year, and Emily doubted that she would ever grow very close to him.
The best they could do was talk over the phone and see him once a year, maybe two times a year, if he visited for Christmas.
Once they got to the airport, their mom booked them in, and they were introduced to a woman from Unaccompanied Minor Service who would be flying with them and looking after them.
The woman, whose name Emily, didn't bother remembering, led them to their gate and sat down with them. They couldn't buy any food or drink until they got on the aeroplane, so they both sat waiting to board.
Emily was glad they came late, as it meant it wasn't very long before they were able to get on the plane, and Emily got the window seat. Bella sat in the middle, and the staff member sat in the aisle seat.
Emily was sure it was so that she or Bella could run around the plane once it was in the air. It turned out that flying on a plane wasn't nearly as exciting as Emily thought it would be.
Emily slipped on some headphones and watched the movie on the screen as she proceeded to transfer her mana into the ring around her neck. Emily fell into her own world as she listened to the move and looked out of the window.
She had never really thought about trying to fly with magic before. But seeing the view from the window, Emily knew that she would have to try it when she was older or when she had stored enough magic in her ring.
Emily felt Bella nudge her and looked over at her to see that she had a tray of food in her hands that she passed to her and a small can of soda.
"Thank you," Emily said quietly to Bella, who gave her a smile.
Emily wasn't surprised to see that their mom had made sure they had some food to eat on the flight. The first flight was 4h, so they would arrive at the airport at 2pm, and then they had another 1h flight after that, plus however long it would take to get to their dad's house.
The meal had some kind of chicken and tomato sauce with pasta. Next to that was a tub of fruit with yoghurt and a brownie. It didn't even look that bad.
Grabbing the fork, Emily started to eat her meal, frowning at the first bite. The pasta dish was very bland and didn't have much taste at all other than a hint of tomato.
With a frown, Emily slowly ate the food before she moved on to the fruit and the yoghurt, which was far better than the pasta and, finally, the brownie.
With all the food eaten, Emily went back to looking out the window.
"We will be landing soon. We will let everyone else get off the plane, and then we can go to the next plane," the woman in charge of looking after Bella and I said.
Emily just nodded, not paying much attention, as she just followed the woman who led them to a much smaller plane that finally landed in Port Angeles.
Emily frowned as she heard the name of the city they were landing in. She was sure that she had heard that name somewhere before bushing it off. She must have heard her sister or mom say it when talking about the trip.
"Hey, Charlie," Bella said as the airport staff escorted them to where their dad was waiting.
"Hey girls, come give me a hug," their dad said, leaning down to pull them both into a hug.
"Hey, dad," Emily said as she was hugged by her new father.
"Right, let's get back home. Charlie said as he took both her's and Bella's hands so they couldn't get lost.
Emily couldn't help the strange feeling that she was getting. She was able to overlook her sister being called Bella Swan, and she was able to reason away that many people were called Reene.
But it was starting to get hard for Emily to deny the pattern that was appearing. What were the chances of having a Sister called Bella, a mom called Reene, and a father called Charlie, and they were divorced.
Emily couldn't help but wonder if she was somehow in the book of Twilight or maybe just the universe of Twilight. She could feel her mind running at a million miles per hour as she tried to wrap her head around her new hypothesis.
She wouldn't believe it till she had gone to the reservation. If all the people from the books were real, then she wouldn't be able to lie to herself anymore.
Emily wasn't sure what she would do if that were the case. It wasn't like she was about to become a vampire hunter. As long as they didn't try to eat her, then she would leave them alone.
She didn't plan on going to Italy any time soon, and she would never go if it turned out that she was in the world of Twilight. And she wasn't likely to meet any in Phoenix due to the sun.
And forks was safe, given the giant shapeshifting wolves running around. Emily shook her head, annoyed at herself for making plans when it could all just be in her head.
The car was very quiet as they drove all the way into forks, and Emily looked out the window smiling at the massive forest on either side of them.
It was a shame that she was 9 years old, or she would have been able to explore the forest, something that she knew she wouldn't be able to do until she was around 14.
The forest soon gave way to buildings and the first signs of civilization. It wasn't long before they were driving through town, and Emily was surprised at how small it was.
There wasn't even a Mcdonalds let alone a shopping centre. It was odd for Emily, her first life, she had grown up in the centre of a megacity, and Phionxe was a large city as well.
Charlie kept driving through town, which only took three minutes before they had reached a turnoff, leading to a small group of houses spread out.
Charlie pulled up to the house on the corner, which backed up onto a large forest. The house was way larger than what Charlie would need on his own and was much bigger than the house they lived in with their mom.
"Your rooms are just how you left them. You two head inside, and I will get your suitcases," Charlie said as he turned off the car.
"Okay, dad come on, Bella," Emily said, jumping out of the car.
