Emily stepped out of the car and looked at the house. She followed Bella inside, relieved to see handmade signs on their bedrooms.
Emily was sure that she and Bella must have made them as there was too much glitter and shells on them to be anything other than homemade.
Opening the door to her room, Emily found it pretty empty. That wasn't surprising since they had only spent one month of their three-month holiday with her father.
Emily felt sad for Charlie, realising he had spent so little time with his own children.
At this point, he may not have even spent a full year with his daughters, a fact that made her feel sad.
Emily noticed some board games on a shelf that she and Bella could play, thankfully. Otherwise, she and Bella would no doubt be bored over the time they would be here.
"How about we go to the dinner and get something to eat?" Charlie suggested as he brought Emily's suitcase into her room.
Emily looked at Bella, who was behind Charlie and saw her nodding very adamantly.
"Sure, Dad," Emily said as he put her suitcase down in the corner of her room.
"Okay, let's go," Charlie said.
Emily walked over to Bella and followed her out of the room. From Bella's reaction, Emily got the idea that Charlie didn't really know how to cook.
Emily didn't find it surprising that Charlie would be more inclined to eat takeaway or at dinner than make his own food. Thankfully the trip to the dinner was very quick, given how small Forks was.
It turned out the dinner was very busy with serval other families in there as well. Emily guessed this was the best they had for eating out unless they wanted to take a 1-hour car drive to Port Angeles.
"Hey, Chief Swan," the waitress greeted as he walked through the door.
"Aw, are these your two daughters?" the waitress asked as she smiled at the two girls.
"Ya, is there a free table?" Charlie asked, seeing how busy it was.
"Yep, follow me," the waitress said, leading them through the dinner.
They were eventually seated next to another two families, one with a boy their age and the other with a girl.
"Nice to see you again, Chief," a man greeted Charlie as they sat down.
"Bella, Emily, this is Mr Newton. He runs the sporting goods store, and this is his son, Mike," Charlie said, introducing the family to the two sisters.
Emily's breath caught in her throat as she registered what her dad had just told her. It's all one big coincidence, she repeatedly repeated in her head.
"Nice to meet you," Emily greeted them.
"And this is Mr Weber and his wife and his daughter Angela," Charlie said, pointing to the family next to Emily.
Emily sighed in her head. It was getting really hard for her to tell herself that this was all a big scary coincidence. Her past experiences were not making it easy for her to accept this situation.
Teleporting and finding yourself in the Antarctic, in a pitch-black cave, or in the middle of the ocean is one thing. But Twilight was just a book.
There was no way the world inside the book was real.
Or at least that was what Emily was trying and tell herself.
"Nice to meet you," Bella said, smiling at the other girl.
"Here are some menus. Can I get you anything to drink?" the waitress asked.
Emily wasn't paying much attention as her mind was filled with the possibility that she was somehow in the world of a book.
"Emily?" Bella said, shaking her.
"Hmm, what? Sorry, err, apple juice, please," Emily said, slightly embarrassed.
"Okay, I will be right back," the waitress said as she left to get out drinks.
Emilly took a deep mental breath. She must just be imagining it. Stephenie must have visited Forks, and that is how she knew there was an outdoor store here and the reservation.
Emily did her best to put it out of her mind as she looked down at the menu. The waitress came back and placed our drinks on the table.
"So do you know what your having? Guessing the usual Chief?" the waitress asked.
"You know me," Charlie replied.
"How about you two girls?" the waitress asked.
"Can I get a cheeseburger, please," Emily asked.
"I will get the chicken fingers, please," Bella said as the waitress wrote it down.
"Sure thing," the waitress said, taking the menus from the three of them.
With the food ordered, the table became slightly awkward as both sides didn't really know each other very well.
"How is school?" Charlie asked.
"Good, we will be in middle school soon," Emily said.
"How about you, Bella?" Charlie asked.
"School is okay. I don't like PE, though," Bella said, frowning.
"You fall over on the flat ground," Emily said, nudging her sister.
"Swimming should be part of PE," Bella said, huffing as she nudged Emily back.
"That would be great, maybe in middle school. Or high school," Emily said wistfully.
She had asked Mum about maybe getting a pool in the back garden, but she said there was no way we could afford to build one.
"Im sure your mom could take you to the swimming baths," Charlie suggested.
"Im going to guess there isn't one in Forks?" Emily asked.
"The school has one, but there isn't a public one," Charlie said.
"We don't have swimming class either," the girl Angela said.
Before Emily could reply, the waitress returned with their food. Emily was a little surprised at how good the burger looked. She was expecting it to look unappealing.
"What do you have for PE?" Emily asked.
"This term, we have badminton," Angela said, looking happy to be talking to her.
"Oh, that's not too bad. We had dodgeball a lot this year," Emily said, smiling.
"Im sorry," Angela said.
"I don't mind dodgeball, but doing it every other week is boring," Emily replied.
"I hate dodgeball, though," Bella said.
"I think you hate all sports that require running around," Emily said teasingly.
"I do. Even ballet isn't fun when you fall down constantly," Bella said, sulking.
"So I guess you don't want to start running with me over the summer, then?" Emily asked jokingly.
"So, are you both in the same year?" Angela asked.
"Ya, we are twins of some kind," Bella said, looking at Charlie.
"You are fraternal twins or none identical twins," Charlie said.
"Ya that," Bella agreed.
"So what is there to do in Forks?" Emily asked.
"Well, there is a park," Angela said awkwardly.
"Just the one?" Bella asked.
"Yep, some of the older kids play in the woods and the river," Angela added.
"We will be going down to La Push tomorrow, but if you wanted to meet up the day after, you could," Charlie said.
"If Angela wants to?" Emily said, looking at Angela.
"Yes, please, I don't have many friends in school," Angela said, looking happier.
"Okay, we can go to the park," Bella said, seeing that it made Angela happy.
"The park is actually very good. There is a rope spiderweb climbing thing, an obstacle course, swings and slides," Charlie said to Emily and Bella.
Emily was a little surprised at how good the park sounded. After all, she and Bella walked to a large park, and it only had a few swings.
"Come on, Angela, we need to go," Mr Weber said, standing up.
"Yes, Dad. See you in two days," Angela said as she scooted off her chair.
"See you in two days," Bella and Emily said.
"Guess you two have made a new friend," Charlie said happily.
"Yep," Bella said as she ate her last chicken finger.
"Maybe we will make some more down at La Push," Emily said.
"Im sure you will," Charlie said.
Emily saw that everyone else was almost done with their food and quickly ate the rest of her burger.
With nothing to do after dinner, Charlie took them back home. Bella decided that she was going to reread her book. Emily walked back into her room and jumped onto her bed.
"Fuck!" Emily screamed in her head.
She was pretty sure that she was in Twilight.
Her mom and dad's names matched Bella's in the book. She had a sister called Bella, and they lived in the same places.
Tomorrow will tell her for sure. If her dad's friend is Billy Black, with two daughters and a son, then she would have to accept that she was in the world of Twilight.
Thankfully she lived in Arizona for 11 months of the year, and she knew the chances of running into vampires were very slim. After all, Bella didn't meet any vampires till she moved to Forks.
That left her many years for her magic to grow back so that she could protect herself and her family. After all, her magic had grown quite a lot in the last five months.
After recovering from her illness, she could pick up and hold her bed in the air for 5 minutes before becoming tired. Now, however, she could keep her bed in the air for over 30 minutes.
Emily was sure that due to her using magic more, it had grown quicker than her first life. Emily was also sure that when she started to exercise in a year or so, that would also impact her total amount of magic.
Emily started storing her magic in her ring before noticing a problem. The small diamonds on the ring had reached saturation. If she forced any more magic into them, they would be destroyed.
Emily was surprised at how quickly she had managed to fill them. Now she wondered what she should do with all the magic she had stored.
Closing her eyes and focusing on the diamonds, she could feel the magic inside of them pulsing. It was a comforting feeling for Emily.
Taking a look at the clock, Emily let out a sigh and snuggled under her blanket. What to do with all the magic was a problem for tomorrow's Emily.
"Right girls, you ready to go?" Charlie asked as they finished breakfast.
"Yep," Bella called back as she grabbed Emily's bowl and placed it in the sink.
Emily could feel butterflies in her belly as she walked into the car.
Over the night, Emily had already resigned herself to being in the world of Twilight and done her best to cheer herself up.
There were worse worlds to be reborn in, after all.
One Piece, Naruto, Attack on Titan and even Marvel were all far more dangerous than Twilight. Especially the first three, they were full of death.
In the world of Twilight, other than Vampires, she didn't have much to worry about. And it wasn't like there were 1000s of vampires in Twilight.
Hell, as long as she stayed somewhere sunny and out of the south, then the chances of her meeting a vampire were very slim.
Of course, that didn't get rid of the fact that if she moved here with Bella when they were old, she would meet the Cullens and many more vampires.
It turned out the drive from Forks to La Push was longer than Emily had imagined when she read the books. Or maybe it was just the fact that the Cullens all drove at 100mph.
But driving at the speed limit, the trip would take 30 minutes. As they drove, Emily decided that she would use most of her saved-up magic to make some jewellery so that she could save up more magic.
As far as Emily was concerned, unless she was using her magic to exhaustion each day, then not saving it was a waste.
As for what jewellery she wanted, Emily decided to make a stainless steel bracelet as it would only cost a little magic compared to silver. Then she could make charms for the bracelet.
With the amount of magic that she had stored up, she could make 2 charms and still have some left over. That would be far more than enough for the next year or so.
"We are nearly at the Blacks," Charlie said as the coast came into view.
Through the trees, the sea was visible, with a small island visible. Emily wasn't surprised to hear the Black family name. It just confirmed what she was already thinking.
Charlie took a left and drove up a side road. At the end of the road, a red single-story house was visible. As they drove up, the Black family came out of the house to greet them.
Emily was surprised to see five people and realised that the older woman must have been Billy's wife. She vaguely remembered a mention that she had died sometime before Bella moved to Forks.
Emily was glad that she wasn't dead yet. She wouldn't want anyone to have to grow up without parents.
Emily saw Bella give the two girls a wave. Emily tried her best to remember their names, but she didn't think they were mentioned in Twilight more than a hand full of times.
"Charlie, nice to see you again," Billy's wife said as they got out of the car.
"Bella, Emily, nice to see you. Rebbeca and Rachel have missed you," the woman said welcomingly.
"Hello, it's nice to see you again, Mrs Black," Bella greeted politely.
"Come on, Bella, Emily, we are going down to the rock pools with some friends," Rebbeca said, walking over to the two girls.
"Sounds good. Let's go," Emily said, already liking the two girls who seemed much more outdoorsy.
"I don't know," Bella said a little awkwardly.
"It will be fine. We won't let you fall into the sea," Rachel said as she grabbed Bella's arm and dragged her along with everyone else.
Emily looked around, a little surprised at how small La Push was. In the books, Emily had always envisioned it being quite large. And while the size of La Push was, the population seemed very small, even compared to Forks.
Thankfully the Blacks lived near to the beach, and after a short walk, they got to the end of the road and across from what was probably the only shop in La Push other than gift shops.
Walking across the street, two other girls waited for them and waved when they saw them walking over to them.
"Hey," the two girls greeted Rebbeca, Rachel, and Jacob before looking at her and Bella.
"This is Emily and Bella Swan," Rebbeca said, introducing them.
"Emily, Bella, this is Leah Clearwater and Emily Young."
"Nice to meet you," Bella said shyly.
"Nice to meet you, so rock pools?" Emily asked.
"Ya, this way," Leah said, leading the way.
"There are actually some good ones over at the hole in the wall, but it's a very long walk," Rachel said as they walked down the sidewalk towards the beach.
"How long of a walk?" Emily asked.
"Like hours through the forest and across rivers," Emily Young said.
Bella tugged on Emily's shirt, shaking her head, looking worried about such a long walk.
"Maybe another time we are here for the whole month," Emily said hopefully.
"We can probably get one of our parents to drive us there, and it's a well know tourist attraction," Rebbeca said.
Eventually, they got to the end of the walkway, and Emily and Bella were surprised to see tons of dead trees and driftwood around the beach's edge.
Every part of the outer edge of the beach had piles of these large sections of trees. Some of them were piled up higher than the children.
"Never short of campfire wood," Leah said, enjoying the view of Bella and Emily's faces.
"I bet," Bella said.
Thankfully it wasn't hard to get onto the beach, which wasn't silky smooth sand as Emily had come to invasion but started out as large rocks and stones.
It eventually transitioned to more like sand as they reached the sea. But it was nothing like the white sand beaches that Emily had visited in her previous life.
"So how old are you, Leah, Emily?" Emily asked.
She had only just realised how odd it seemed to call another girl her name.
"Im 10, and Emily is 11. We are cousins," Leah answered.
"Err, we don't need to climb that mountain do we?" Bella asked as they came towards the end of the beach.
"No, we are going to walk around the bottom," Rachel said.
Bella didn't look very reassured by what Rachel had said but didn't say anything else as she grabbed Emily's hand.
Emily gave Bella an encouraging smile. Thankfully the sea was quite far out, so they didn't have to worry about getting too wet.
As they walked around the edge of the cliff, they found a large raised rocky platform about knee-level high.
Leah, Emily, Rebbeca and Rachel all were able to climb up with no real problem, and they then helped Jacob up, who was a little too short to do so on his own. Rebbeca and Rachel then helped Bella up.
Lastly, Emily climbed up with a little help from Leah. Emily gave her a smile in thanks as she looked around. The entire platform was covered in seaweed.
Emily was sure that if it was just when the tide had gone out, then the entire platform would be way too slimy to walk on without falling. But most of the seaweed had dried out, making it not too bad to walk on.
"Come on, let me show you this," Leah said, leading Emily over to a large bolder near the cliff edge.
As she followed Leah, Emily looked over at Bella, who was walking with the other girls catching up with Jacob.
"This bolder is covered in the imprints of fossils," Leah explained as she pointed them out on the bolder.
Emily took a look at the imprints, a little curious. She had never seen any fossils outside of a museum before. Many imprints were left on the bolder of mainly small shellfish of some kind.
There were also some leaves, but Emily had kinda hoped to see a large dinosaur or something.
"Are there any fossils lying about?" Emily asked.
"Sure, in the gift shops," Leah said jokingly.
Emily stuck her tongue out at Leah's joke.
"No, most of the easy-to-find ones have been picked up, and as far as I know, no dinosaurs have ever been found," Leah said.
"Not yet. Maybe we will find one," Emily said jokingly.
"I will keep my eyes out," Leah replied.
"We may be able to find something in the rock pools?" Leah suggested.
"Let's try the biggest," Emily said, pointing to the large pool that seemed to be a large crack in the rock.
"Okay," Leah said as they walked over to the large pool.
"Do shells count as fossils?" Emily asked as she picked some out of the water.
"Err, I don't know. Im not even sure where shells come from?" Emily said, unsure if shells were fossils.
"They make good decoration regardless though?" Leah said, holding out the shells.
"Ya, there are no shells in Phoenix," Emily said as she took the shells from Leah.
"Live on the beach, and you will hate them as decoration," Leah said, smiling.
"In the same way, cacti become boring?" Emily asked.
"Not sure. Never seen a cactus before?" Leah said with a shrug.
"Really?" Emily asked.
"Well, not counting in movies on TV," Leah said.
"I will bring you one next time," Emily said.
"Thanks," Leah said as she pulled some more shells out of the pool before throwing them away after getting a better look.
"Im afraid the gift shop has the best shells," Rachel said as they walked over to her and Leah.
"Boo," Emily said jokingly.
"You could have a pet crab?" Leah offered.
"I don't think the airport will like that," Bella said, shaking her head.
"I have to agree," Emily said.
"Guess you will have to make do with the shells you have found," Rebecca said.
"So, anything else to do around here?" Emily asked.
"There is a rope swing on the trail to a little further around?" Emily Young suggested.
"Oh, competition for who can get the highest?" Emily suggested.
"That doesn't seem fair on you and Bella. We have had lots of practice," Leah said, smirking.
"Those are fighting words; lead the way," Emily said.
"Don't worry, the trail is more of a real path," Rachel said to Bella quietly.
Leah led the way around the rest of the cliff and across another beach before leading them to a small break in the trees that wasn't very noticeable if you didn't know what you were looking for.
However, the trail was very easy to see once you got past the bushes. It wasn't something you could accidentally walk off and not notice.
Emily felt a strange aura the moment she entered the forest. It reminded her vaguely of the feeling of the magic in her body. However, it seemed to have a wilder feeling to it.
Once she focused on it, she could feel it flowing through the earth and into the trees. It was like a river of magic in the earth.
"You okay?" Leah asked as she looked back.
"Yes, so swing?" Emily asked.
She would think about the aura when she was on her own.
"It is a little further down the trail," Rebbeca called from behind.
They had to walk for a little while before they arrived at a large tree with a tick rope hanging down from one of the very tall branches.
"How did the rope get up there?" Bella asked, looking up into the tree.
Emily was also wondering about that. None of the trees had low branches, and the rope was connected to a branch at least 50 feet up the tree.
"No one knows," Rachel said, shrugging.
"Im going first," Leah said, grabbing the rope and running back as far as she could.
"Shame it's not on a slope," Emily said.
"I heard there is one on a cliff edge, but not sure if that is true or not," Emily Young said.
"That sounds like fun," Emily said, smiling excitedly.
"It's just a joke, the older kids say," Rebbeca added, looking worried.
Emily watched as Leah started running before jumping on the swing. Leah managed to get relatively high before she started swinging back.
After jumping off, she passed the swing to Rebbeca, who took a turn and managed to get about the same height as Leah.
"Bella?" Rebbeca offered as she got off the swing.
"No thanks," Bella said, taking a step back.
"My turn then," Emily said as she took the swing.
Emily walked back as far as she could before running as fast as she could, then jumped on the swing and smiled as she sailed through the air.
The feeling made her want to find a way to fly with magic even more.
Emily leaned against a tree as she watched the other people having a go on the rope swing. Bella was stood next to her, the furthest away from the rope swing as possible.
Emily had tried to encourage Bella to have a go on the swing, be she adamantly refused to. Emily rolled her eyes at how Bella was acting.
Even Jacob, who was just shy of 7 years old, had a go on the swing as well.
"We should be heading back soon," Emily Young said after everyone had taken a 3rd go on the swing.
"Just one more go?" Leah, Rebbeca and Emily asked.
"Fine, one more go each, but then we need to head back. We have been out for two hours," Emily Young compromised.
"Do you think we can both fit on the swing at the same time?" Emily whispered to Leah.
"Let's find out," Leah said, smiling.
After Rebbeca got off the swing, Leah walked back next to Emily.
"You jump on it first, and then I sit on top of you?" Emily suggested.
"Okay," Leah agreed.
Together they both ran, holding on to the rope, and Leah jumped onto the seat, and Emily tried jumping on top of her. But it only sort of worked, and instead, Emily just had her legs wrapped around Leah as they swung.
Emily had to hand on tightly and even used a tiny bit of magic to ensure that she didn't lose grip on the rope.
Once they had swung back, they both fell off the swing.
"It sorta worked, but we need to work on getting off the swing," Leah said as she sat up.
"The swing isn't that good for sitting on either, as the circular base likes to spin around, so it's hard to hook your legs on it," Emily asked.
"Come on, you two," Emily Young said, helping them both to their feet.
"Can we use this trail to get home?" Emily asked as she brushed the dirt off her jeans.
"Ya, we can," Rebbeca said.
"Then lead onwards," Emily said happily.
Emily thought back to her first life and couldn't ever remember having such a fun and worry-free time as a child. It was always a worry about where she would get her next meal.
The walk up the trail was nice and relaxed and was clearly well-maintained. Emily remembered in the book that Bella thought Forks was too green.
But Emily thought that the forest was really pretty and had the urge to go exploring. Something that was very difficult for her to stop herself from doing.
She was used to doing what she wanted when she wanted. What other people may call a risk wasn't a thing for her.
With magic, she could teleport if she got lost in the mountains. Something that had happened a few times. She could make food out of thin air and fire and water as well.
But she knew now that she had parents that actually loved and cared for her. She had to wait until she was older before she could do anything people would deem risky.
Soon the trail came to an end and led to a car park on the side of the road that must have been for hikers, and Emily recognised that there were not far up the road from where the Blacks lived.
Thankfully there was a path on the side of the road for them to walk down, and they were soon back in La Push.
"I guess I will see you later?" Emily said to Leah.
"Ya tell Rebecca and Rachel to tell me when you next come down," Leah said happily as she walked over to Emily Young.
"Will do," Emily said, waving to Leah and Emily as they walked further into the reservation.
They had dinner with the Blacks before they said goodbye. It seemed that they would be coming back not tomorrow but the day after, as Charlie had planned to go fishing with Billy and someone else from the reservation.
So they would still be able to meet Angela tomorrow.
"Did you two have fun?" Charlie asked as they drove back towards Forks.
"Yep, we went to the beach and then had a go on the rope swing," Emily said.
"Bella went on a rope swing?" Charlie asked Bella sounding surprised.
"No, I get my balance from you," Bella said, shaking her head.
Charlie let out an awkward laugh.
"Where will you be going fishing?" Emily asked Charlie as she looked out at the forest.
Emily really wanted to experiment with the aura that she could feel in the forest. In her first life, she had read many stories that had Laylines in them.
But outside of the books, she had never been able to find anything that resembled a Layline.
This was the first time she had felt magic outside of her body. She hadn't bothered looking for any in Phoenix, but she would when she got back.
"We are fishing on the Quillayute River," Charlie said.
"Is that near the hole in the wall?" Emily asked.
"No, that is quite far out of the way. We can visit it at some point if you want?" Charlie offered.
"That would be great," Emily said.
"Okay, we will do that," Charlie promised.
Once everyone had gone to bed, Emily found herself unable to sleep.
She couldn't get the aura from the forest out of her mind and looked down at the ring. She quietly got out of bed and got dressed.
Looking at the door, she drew a small amount of magic and placed a spell on the door that would make people ignore it. Should Charlie check on them at night, that would make sure he wouldn't notice that she wasn't in her room.
Drawing on her own magic, she vanished from her room and appeared in the forests next to the rope swing.
She stumbled a little from the drain on her magic and felt a little lightheaded. Emily sat down and waited for a few minutes as her magic slowly restored, making her head clear again.
Drawing on the magic stored in her ring. Emily went about conjuring a bracelet and then two charms. Emily made sure that the two charms were plain looking and the diamonds weren't visible to avoid people asking about them.
With that done, Emily slipped the bracelet on. Emily checked the ring, making sure there was enough magic to teleport back to her room. At worse, she could wait, and within an hour or two, she would be recovered enough on her own to teleport back.
However, if she did that, she would be exhausted of magic and would no doubt pass out the moment she landed in her room, something she wanted to avoid.
Emily closed her eyes and placed her hands on the ground, and used her magic to reach out into the river that she could feel under the ground.
Emily knew she had made a terrible mistake the instant the two forms of magic touched.
The wild magic under the ground and latched onto her magic and rushed into her body through her arms which burst into firey pain.
Emily screamed, severing her magic, she fell onto her back, panting.
The fiery pain of the wild magic faded the moment she was no longer in contact with it. Her arms were filled with horrible pins and needles as she lay on the ground.
"Son of a bitch!" Emily groaned out.
Emily tried to flex her fingers and gasped out in pain. She wasn't sure how long she was lying on the ground as she waited for the pain in her arms to finally fade away.
She could now confirm that it was indeed magic. As she was waiting for the pain to fade, she noticed that the magic in her body had recovered completely, something that should have taken hours.
That brought a smile to her face.
Now she just needed to work out how not to be in crippling pain.
She didn't want to leave without finding some way to use the wild magic that she had found. But the only thing she could think of was to store it in her charms.
Thankfully she did have an idea how to do that and was pretty sure it wouldn't cause her any pain. She had often transferred magic from one gemstone to another and knew that it wouldn't flow through her body.
Taking the bracelet off, Emily placed it on the ground. She put a small amount of magic into each charm and then guided the magic in the charms to the wild magic.
Just like before, when her magic in the charms touched the wild magic, it immediately rushed into the two charms and started filling them as if it was trying to drown them in magic.
A few minutes later, Emily cut off her magic which was acting as a guide and felt the wild magic calm down. Emily picked up the bracelet and slipped it back on.
Standing up and feeling her aching arms, Emily decided that all she wanted now was to sleep.
Pulling on the magic in her ring, she teleported from the forest and appeared in her room. Emily pulled off her clothing, got her pyjamas back on, and crawled into her bed.
She was out like a light the moment her head touched the pillow.
