Chapter 3

"How dare you bring her here" Bruce shouted his voice echoing through the batcave

"You called me asking for my help, remember" Dick couldn't believe his mentors behavior "You said to hurry up and get here so I did if you want me to leave I will" Dick was fuming with anger.

"You didn't tell me she was a freak" Bruce said turning from the bat computer to face Dick

"This coming from the man who dresses as a bat" Dick spat

"At least I am human" Dick was done with Bruce's shit, he'd known about his prejudice against super powered being Bruce had made no attempt to hide it.

"She's a child" Dick was furious, Bruce had adopted him at a young age after his parents murder, Dick had felt like he knew the man though he was cold he had a heart now he seemed completely heartless,

"Metropolis is in danger of collapse and you are wasting your time on a monster you should have left to die" Bruce slammed his fist against the stone wall beside him the sound echoed through the cave. Dick turned to walk back up to the manor levels of the house he was tired of this cave, of this man he had once admired.

"I want her out of my house NOW" Bruce yelled to Dick his gruff voice sounding like the growl of some large wild beast rather than a human.

Dick passed Alfred on his way to collect the child

"Master Grayson is everything alright" Alfred's voice was laced with concern at seeing Dick charging past him,

"We're leaving" Dick said not even slowing for Alfred to catch up

"Might I ask, why so soon?" Alfred already had some idea of why but was hoping he was wrong

"Bruce wants her out of the house, as for me I'm done with his bullshit" Dick went into the bedroom Alfred had situated the girl in, He pulled the covers back the girl was now wearing a silk pink pajama shirt and pants which were both way to large for her.

Dick picked her up and carried her out to the hall and headed for his car, he had just placed the girl in the back seat when Alfred appeared beside him, in his hands he held some thick blankets along with a piece of paper with an address scribbled on it.

"One of Master Waynes safe houses You should be able to stay there till other arrangement's can be made" Alfred said handing the paper to Dick

"I'm not fully dependent on Bruce you know" Dick was was about to get angry with Alfred,

"Yes but I think you might have problems if your spotted entering and exiting a single bedroom apartment with a teenage girl to many times" Dick's temper was calmed knowing that Alfred was just looking out for him, he glanced back at the piece of paper noticing the address was in Metropolis, Alfred raised a hand before continuing

"I cannot agree with everything Master Wayne said I do know that Metropolis need's a hero now more than ever, it's also not a bad idea to get that child far away from Star city"

"Thank you Alfred" Dick hugged Alfred before jumping in the car and taking off down the drive towards Gotham.
