Chapter 6

The second story had collapsed, Dick had been pinned under a wooden beam, The air was thick with cement.
"Dick!" Barbara yelled "Dick!" She called out a second time before going silent, Dick's eyes opened slowly, and he groaned.
"Barbara!" He called out through gasps for air, no answer.
"I can help you" The boy had appeared from nowhere, he stood next to Dick, he was thin his skin well-tanned with sandy brown hair.
"It's to heavy," Dick said trying to push himself off of his stomach. The boy reached under the beam and started to pull up, it budged slightly, Dick was astonished by the kids' strength.
"Ok let's try at the same time," He said "Let's try it" The boy pulled up again, Dick tried to push the beam off, but though it budged it didn't move.
"One minute" The boy ran off in a couple of steps Dick couldn't see him because of the dust in the air. Dick waited a minute before he remembered his escrima sticks tucked in his belt. He tried reaching them but his arms were pinned, eventually, he gave up trying to grab get them and began trying to lift the beam off of himself again.
"Ok let's try again" Dick heard the boy before he saw him, he was talking from beyond the dust a second later he was beside Dick again,
"Ok" Dick agreed. Yet again they tried lifting the beam off of him without success,
"Give me a minute" The boy stepped back and shook his hands while taking a couple of long breaths in, he stepped back to the beam and started to pull it off of Dick, he was making an almost animal-like growling noise as he lifted the beam a foot into the air. Dick pulled himself out of the way, the boy dropped the beam to the floor, he was panting his shirt was torn in multiple places along the sleeves.
"Are you ok?" Dick asked looking at the boy in disbelief,
"I'm fine, were you alone?" He asked still catching his breath,
"No there were two females with me" Dick searched the wreckage for Barbara and Alice.
"A redhead with a pale girl?"
"Yeah are they ok?"
"They're both outside, I saw them when I came in" Dick sighed in relief,
"We should get out of here" The boy suggested "Yeah how did you get in here?" he asked "This way" The boy grabbed Dicks arm and led him to a small hole surrounded by wreckage.
"I don't think I'll fit," Dick said examining the hole,
"I think I can fix it" The boy looked unsure but then crawled into the hole. Dick watched as the boy's body contorted and turned to an almost green color, his body seemed to start expanding. After a minute he shrunk back panting,
"I can't do it" He shouted out of breath,
"That's fine, just get out of here" Dick called back.
The rubble around the hole began to glow, and then slowly rose, the hole was now big enough for Dick to fit through, without hesitation, Dick rushed through the hole scooping the boy up on his way.

The wall collapsed behind them, Dick tossed the kid out on the front lawn. Barbara was leaning next to Alice who was on her knees her head down,
"Are you ok?" Dick rushed over "She collapsed, she was the one making that wall levitate" Barbara explained "I'm ok" Alice gasped "Is he ok?" She asked pointing at the boy who was now pulling himself to his feet "I'm fine" The boy's nose was bleeding but he seemed generally unharmed. For the first time since he'd escaped the house, Dick noticed all the buildings in ruin around them, and a long streak of smoke coming from the sky down towards the city. Dick looked around at the houses most had been for sale so few civilians would be injured.
"We have to go there" Dick pointed at where the streak in the sky ended near a more populated area of the city,
"I think the car survived," Barbara said helping Alice to her feet.

Barbara was driving as they zoomed toward the area of impact,
"We need to drop them off before we put them in more danger," Dick said as he pulled his jacket off and tossed it onto the floor in the back.
"We can help," The boy said "I can help people"
"I can help as well" Alice agreed "You're children we are not bringing you into a danger zone," Dick said twisting in his seat "We are probably more capable of helping here than you are," Alice said "She's right Dick, their abilities could help save people's lives" Dick still didn't like the idea of bringing children into danger "Fine just stay where we can see you" Dick relented.
