Chapter 11
4 Am
The red light in the hall accompanied the loud siren, the Titans reached the command center one right after the other. Dick and Barbara already stood in their uniforms in front of the main terminal.
"Three drills in one week seems a bit excessive" Garfield Aka Beast Boy complained,
"This isn't a drill" Dick announced "Tonight we activated our scanners for the first time, and two major threat alerts have come in"
It had been two months since they had moved into Titans Tower and training had started the next week. Dick and Barbara had instructed the team on a wide variety of subjects, Barbara led courses in psychology, negotiation, body language, and firearm training, and Dick taught interrogation techniques, map reading and memorization. Both also alternated teaching hand-to-hand combat, basic vehicle use, and of course threat alert drills among others, Kara had only joined the team two weeks prior to this night.
"We'll be splitting up into two teams to cover these threats" Barbara stated "The first team will be comprised of Robin, Starfire, and Beast Boy" Starfire was the codename decided on for Koriand'r,
"Our team will be headed to the metro Metropolis area where the supervillain Firefly was spotted, soon after multiple fires popped up in the area" Dick had taken over "While the fire department does have the fires under control they're ill equipt to deal with Firefly" The large screen now had the mugshot of a man with burns all over his face, his amber eyes shining with the flash from the camera, mostly bald except a ponytail of graying hair.
"Firefly, real name Garr Lynn, also known as the man of a thousand lights" Barbara had taken back over "Garr started as a member of the gang The Fearsome Fireflys, nothing much is known about him prior to his activity with this gang, his time with the gang was short-lived as he was kicked from the gang after he burned down their hideout" Barbara paused for a minute switching the picture on the screen to a newspaper article that read "15 gang members confirmed dead after fire breaks out at hideout"
"Two years after being kicked from the gang their hideout yet again burned down with fifteen of the 17 members dying due to fire-related injuries or smoke inhalation one of whom was the gang leader who was burned from the inside out" Barbara switched the screen again this time to several different articles all telling the same story of things burning down with a suspicious figure spotted flying away using a jet pack.
"Firefly is a pyromaniac, his obsession with fire seemingly coming from his belief that it will cleanse the world, there are no known pictures of him prior to his burns which we believe he received in childhood possibly from a parent"
"Our second threat tonight will be handled by Batgirl, Prophet, and Supergirl" Prophet was the codename given to Alice, with Kara given Supergirl.
"Floyd Lawton, Codename Deadshot" Another mugshot appeared on the screen, the man in the photo looked completely average, maybe too average.
"A mercenary for hire, Floyd was raised by two mercenaries until both died in a supposed accident when he was 12" Barbara switched the screen, an article reading "Famous missionary couple dead in accident in poor African village"
"He goes for the highest paycheck and has never had a recorded miss" Barbara now switched the screen to a bird's eye view angle of the Docking district jutting out into the Metropolis Bay,
"Floyd was spotted in the docking district carrying an instrument case" Barbara paused "The problem with this is that he was arrested 2 years ago with a sentence of life in prison, beyond this there has been no report of his escape"
"Titans you all need to know the seriousness of these threats, work with your teams no one should be alone at any point got it?" Dick asked "Got it " The whole team responded.
