And we once again return to the plot, now featuring: The Frieza Fight
Yeah I have no idea how long this'll be. However, we can all take comfort in te fact that it'll be nowhere near as long as the anime's Frieza fight. Man I can not imagine having to watch that weekly
thewittywhy: Thanks, though as to what'll happen in the future, who'd to say. I wouldn't look one way or the other on that regard. There is one person who will know relatively soon, but other than that, thine must wait a tad longer
Shadowj6480: Yes that is exactly why I ended it there many thank. Thanks overall, of course. ^.^ I adore Krillin so of course I'm gonna take full advantage where I can
FrostFriday: 'Tis the nature of being an SI Riencarnation
WispInABottle: Thanks ^.^ As I said in their response, I adore Krillin which definitely helps in that regard. While with Nappa I was kinda like, alright he's here, gotta justify that. As well as to figure out his justifications on being there
starcalena: (response will be in English because I do not trust Google translate) Now, I'm not gonna go one way or the other on the whole reincarnation deal just yet. There is one person who will know relatively soon though.
As for the future arcs, we shall see, I am quite looking forward to them as well
"Yep…" was all I could sigh as imminent death, I mean Frieza, stared us down.
"Well Vegeta, I must say I'm impressed. You've finally pulled it off. You've managed to dash my hopes and dreams entirely.
"With some help, I see," Frieza tilted his head towards Krillin, Dende, and I, and it was all I could do to keep from moving in front of Dende as that would only bring further attention to him.
I elected not to mention that it was basically everyone here besides Vegeta who used the Dragon Balls.
Also that it wouldn't have mattered if we had or not cause Guru still would have died.
"Do tell me, where are the two of you little ones from? Come on now, do tell me? I'm sure it's a lovely planet…"
…
…
"What no answer? Oh well, let's see…Vegeta! You recently took an excursion to a little planet called Earth now didn't you? Now if I were a betting man, oh yes I see, that's where the two of you are from," Frieza's voice was honeyed over as he spoke.
"I'll just have to take a trip over, to, check out the sights, as they say. Perhaps pick up some local delicacies. That is to say, before I BLOW IT UP!"
"Ohoho, my apologies," he covered his mouth as if to convey politeness, "I'm usually much more composed than this. I'm just a little bit absolutely livid."
"Oh quite complaining Frieza. I lost my
Chance at immortality too, you don't see me crying about it," ah good, Vegeta is directing the brunt of Frieza rage towards him. Let's just, let him keep doing that.
"Well you see Vegeta, the difference there is, I'm actually going to live long enough to regret it."
I bit my tongue to avoid making a sarcastic remark. Would not be helpful in the current situation.
"Now then, before we proceed, you lot wouldn't happen to know where I can find another Namek capable of making these Dragon Balls, now would you?"
Involuntarily, my eyes flickered to Dende, but luckily Frieza had focused his attention on the adults of the group.
"No," Krillin spoke up, "you killed them all."
"Ah yes, what a shame. Oh well. Who wants to die first? No volunteers?"
Krillin and I darted to either side, Dende scurried away across the island.
Nappa considered helping Vegeta for a second, before also darting away.
Vegeta stood with false arrogance and pride preventing even the slightest weakness from showing. Yet.
In the next instance, the power that radiated off Frieza was immense.
…hmm so, if I were to just, run away, what were the odds of escape? Well, there are no ships to get off-planet, except maybe the Ginyu pods, not that I'd know how to work them…
Wait no, Piccolo's on his way here. Darn, stand and fight it is.
I couldn't even try and sense out where he was, Frieza's energy overpowered all other senses.
Luckily enough, Frieza's rage seemed center-focused on Vegeta for now.
Krillin darted over and grabbed my arm to pull me behind a plateau.
After thoroughly choking on the flying dust, Krillin turned to me, "Gohan, our best bet is to attack now while he's distracted."
I frowned, but nodded, "yeah, I guess."
I took off my backpack as we darted forward, already considering it lost.
Of course, when we did get closer and fired a pair of beams at him from behind, he just turned and fired his own blast, sending us diving out of the way.
With a smirk and obviously zero effort he almost lazily sent blasts at us, waiting for us to land before sending another, always having just barely enough time to dodge.
"Krillin! Gohan!" Dende yelled as he approached.
"No! Don't-" but it didn't matter, he was already in the clearing and directly in the line of fire.
There was yet another blast heading towards us. I couldn't grab Dende and run. Could Krillin? I don't-
And then someone was blocking the blast.
Nappa was there, breathing heavily as he stood with his arms stretched in front of him, still smoking from the Ki.
"Are..are you ok?" Krillin asked.
"Yeah. No sweat."
Nappa straightened himself, clearly breathing heavy still, but unharmed. He grinned as he looked down at his hands.
In the moment of silence, I glanced over to Dende, ready to tell him to get out of here, only to notice that the sweet baby had grabbed my backpack and was wearing it himself.
The moment passed, and instead, I grabbed Dende by the arm and pulled him behind me.
Vegeta laughed.
I couldn't even find it within myself to be annoyed by the false bravado.
"Don't you get it Frieza? We have just as much of a chance at winning this as you. Their powers are increasing by the minute. Especially the little one, he might turn out to be a threat if we're not careful."
I, am pretty sure he's just trying to turn Frieza's attention towards me. Because he's petty.
"And soon I'll be the thing you fear most, a Super Sayain!"
If you called four years soon, then yeah sure. I restrained myself from saying that out loud.
Nappa frowned. Frieza rolled his eyes, "yes yes, I've heard this before. Please do not waste my time with your folk tales."
"It's no tale Frieza, I have seen proof of it enough," I mean, no. He hasn't.
Like yeah, I obviously know it's possible, but Veggie just as obviously has no idea what he's talking about.
Frieza charged at Vegeta with a punch before he could continue, and Vegeta, caught his arm.
Sure, Vegeta was pretty much at the end of his limit with that, and this was still just Frieza's first form, but still, jeez.
Wait, did Frieza have three forms or four? That's, probably important to know.
The two were at a standstill, and the radiating Ki had the island breaking apart and adrenaline vibrating through my limbs, begging me to run.
Frieza's Scouter exploded.
The two broke apart.
"Well then. You have certainly improved Vegeta. I commend you for that," Frieza said, calm as ever.
"Ok, this is, this is good! If things stay as they are then we might be able to hold our own!" Nappa grinned.
"Why don't you transform Frieza?" Vegeta asked.
"Oh goddammit, Vegeta." Nappa's face fell.
Similarly, I wanted to slam my head through one of the conveniently placed rocks. But that would be a disadvantage for the fight, so I did not do that.
"Oh don't worry, his power won't increase that much," Vegeta waved off the concerns and I changed my view to wanting to slam his head into the rocks.
"Oh alright, I suppose I'll indulge you. But do remember Vegeta, you asked for this."
Frieza got into a stance, before pausing, "oh wait! I almost forgot! I never transform without someone giving me a countdown."
"Oh come on, that is ridiculous."
I didn't even pause at the stupidity, "great, we'll just continue fighting you like this then!"
"I'm waiting~"
"Fine-10987654321, you happy?" he muttered the numbers so quickly they were barely legible.
"Elated."
"What is wrong with you?"
"Are you talking to Frieza, or Vegeta?"
"Yes."
The question was ignored and Frieza began glowing.
His armor cracked and exploded off his body. The pieces scattered about like grenade fragments, causing us, Krillin, Dende and I, to flinch.
This- this is fine- this is totally- yeah, we're gonna die here.
I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe. His Ki was overwhelming. This, wasn't good. I couldn't, couldn't get flustered by this. Not with what was to come.
I was still shaking, I forced myself to stand in place. Frieza was talking but all I could focus on was not looking like I was scared out of my wits.
I set my jaw and glared forward, forcing myself to stand straight and swallowing my hesitation. It was to be left on the ground.
Frieza's form stretched and grew. Towering over us, bulkier and much more menacing than before.
However, I could now note that due to this not being the Alien(TM) looking long head form, Frieza probably had four forms. Great.
To avoid turning and bolting on the spot I grabbed onto Krillin's arm.
"Well, this is it. I hope you're not disappointed," the new Frieza chuckled, his voice now slightly deeper.
I focused on my breathing until I didn't feel like I was going to suffocate on Frieza's Ki before I let go of Krillin's arm. It wouldn't be good for either of us if we couldn't move freely.
And darn it could I quit shaking already?
I didn't even bother looking at Vegeta. It didn't matter how much he realized how much he screwed us over on this one, because it felt like the second I took my eyes off Frieza I would die.
"My my, what's the matter with you little insects? You seem frightened. Vegeta you're speechless. Don't tell me you've run out of bold threats already?"
Something moved and I dove out of the way. Only after the fact did I look to see Frieza's tail embedded into the rocks behind us.
Oh of course. Why wouldn't it be able to extend?
"Jumpy little things, aren't you? I must say, most don't even see it coming. My congratulations."
"Did I happen to mention that my power level in this form is over a million?"
Vegeta's outcries of impossibility, Krillin's fear, and Nappa's silent shock were tuned out.
Because over a million? It seemed so, minuscule. In comparison to what was to come. But right here, at this moment? It felt like I was drowning.
I wish Piccolo was here already. I wish Goku would just wake up.
But wishing wasn't going to change what was currently happening.
I tuned back in, just in time to see Frieza "demonstrate" his power.
We were blown into the air, and I was half surprised he didn't just kill us right then as the island was deleted from the planet. The destruction caused tsunamis to wreck all the neighboring islands, and as I caught my balance, I was just glad we moved far enough that it didn't completely submerge the island Goku was healing on.
I looked around, frantically looking for Krillin as I tried to search for his Ki without drowning in Frieza's.
"Gohan!" I turned my head to see Krillin flying above me, holding Dende. Dende! I had almost forgotten, how could I-
Not the time. Not the time for this.
"Are you ok?" I asked, obligatorily.
"I'm fine. Just a scratch."
And then I noticed the gash on Krillin's head. He must have gotten hit by the flying debris. He was grimacing but was floating fine, so it couldn't be- probably wasn't that bad.
"What's wrong? Why the long faces? It's a beautiful day to die. What more could you ask for? The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming. On days like these- oh never mind. All that's to do now is see which one of you gets to die first."
Which one. Which one. He isn't gonna kill Vegeta first, he wants to save him for last. One eliminates Krillin, he's holding Dende and that would be two.
Nappa or me, who is he going to-
Frieza wasn't there anymore.
Dende was in my arms. Why was Dende-
I turned.
Krillin was impaled on one of Frieza's horns.
I stared, uncomprehending. That- that wasn't right. That couldn't be right. Krillin wasn't supposed to die- an awful, traitorous, yet floated in my mind- so why was he there, being bucked around by Frieza, enjoying his wails of pain? Why was Dende with me when he was held by Krillin? Why was-
Dende.
Oh.
Dende could heal. He was the healer. Ok, this is fine. I mean it's not fine, but it could be fine.
I just had to-
Just had to-
Just had to get Frieza away from Krillin.
Just had to ignore Krillin's pained cries long enough to move.
Just had to ignore Krillin's failed attempts to defend himself.
I shook my head and charged forward-
Only to get knocked out of the sky by Frieza's tail without a care.
Frieza didn't even turn, I wouldn't be surprised if I was just hit by happenstance.
I had fallen more than halfway to the ground before I caught my balance, and even then, it was all I could do to stay upright.
There was a splatter of blood on my face. It was not my blood.
I-
I had to-
Frieza tossed Krillin into the water.
How could he-
No! No- that was- that was good. Or better. This could still be-
"Dende," the boy had flown down to me to make sure I was ok.
"Y-yes?"
"Go get Krillin, you can- can you-"
"Yes! I was going to and- I'll go now!" Without another word Dende dove into the water.
Frieza didn't notice, he was too busy, was Nappa fighting him?
Well, good for him. He obviously knows he can't actually stand against him, with the series glint in his eyes, so unlike his fight against us.
Vegeta- the useless idiot who caused this in the first place- was just floating there.
But all things must end, and Frieza whipped Nappa into the ground with his tail. He wasn't dead, I was sure.
However, their fight had drawn Frieza closer to the ground, and there was a conveniently placed island, a separate on from where Nappa had landed, below him.
Frieza was too busy gloating to noticed my last approach or react to my kick in the head, which caught him just off guard enough to send him hitting the ground.
I immediately charged up a Masenko, as powerful as I could, and hit him dead on.
I was, unsurprised when he got up, entirely unharmed.
I ducked under a blast, landing on the ground. Then rolled to avoid his tail, why was that a weapon- it is the worst-
I wasn't far from the edge of the island and-
Actually-
I think I'm gonna steal a trick from canon here.
Frieza, with his ever-lasting smirk and arrogance, sent a Ki blast to my feet. I flipped backward to avoid it, and landed in the water.
I used my Ki to propel myself to the bottom as I used Frieza's inability to sense Ki to my advantage.
Ok. I was here. What can I do with-
Death beam.
There was a death beam that had struck dangerously close, darn I should have moved of course Frieza could tell where I landed-
Pain- there was a pain in my shoulder- it hit- well it grazed me but well and enough that the water around me was dyed red.
Ok- time to move- I used my Ki to propel myself forward as fast as I could without causing the water to give away where I was going.
I swam like this around to the other side of the island.
Ok- this is probably the best I'm gonna get.
Slowly and silently I let myself re-emerge from the water Frieza was turned in the opposite direction. Still looking for me.
I raised my arms- arm- to charge a blast. I didn't let it go until it was as strong as I could possibly get it- and hit him dead in the back.
He was still floating upright when the smoke cleared.
He slowly turned to me.
"Welp. I tried." I tried not to let absolute defeat enter my voice.
In an instant, Frieza was in front of me and I was struck from the sky- before I could even land, crashing into the ground, I was kneed in the stomach.
Finally, I was kicked into the rocks and dirt, and it was almost welcome.
I laid on my stomach, too hurt to even react to the pain as I did.
Maybe-
Maybe if I just stay here, silent and still, Frieza will just move on.
He landed and I cursed this stupid planet.
"Come on now. Get up. You wouldn't want to bore me, now would you?"
Despite his taunts, I didn't move. Even if I could get up, I couldn't fight. What was the-
I was kicked through the air and hit the side of a rock- why were there so many rocks on this planet- I tumbled down, just as limps as before.
And then all the previous pain was completely overshadowed by the new pain of Frieza Stepping On My Head.
Apparently, I wasn't quite as helpless as I thought since I managed to move my arms up to claw at his leg, to no avail. The pounding in my head was overwhelming- I couldn't- couldn't-
It was gone.
It was gone and then I felt tingly as the headache- all the aches actually- receded until they were almost unnoticeable.
I squinted my eyes open to see Dende kneeling over me. Ah. Good. Friend.
I laid there for a moment, staring at the green sky.
-I wanna know-oh-oh-ohoh-
-if the sky above is only for show-
-I wanna know-oh-oh-ohoh-
-what tomorrow will bring so let's spread out our wings-
-maybe this world's an infinite dream-
-and there's only hope living in me-
-may it not fail me now-
-turn this thing around and bring back the loving somehow-
"Gohan...?"
I forced myself to sit up, "nothing. Just lamenting."
"I'm sorry, I couldn't heal your arm right…"
I glanced down because I couldn't feel any lingering pain-
There was a jagged scar running down my shoulder and over the top of my arm. It went far enough that it might barely be covered by a T-shirt, or barely not depending on the sleeve length.
"Eh it's fine. A scar never killed anyone. The fact that you can heal us at all, is more than we could hope for."
I've healed Krillin, and now you…that other man is scary…I'm not sure…"
"We might need his help, if you can, healing him is probably the best idea."
I'm sure Nappa could get up, he always has so far. But healing is always a good thing. Better your tank be at full health than be whittled down.
With determination, Dende nodded and took off towards the rubble that Nappa had landed in.
And as for me, back into the fray, I suppose.
Hey, hey- look at me- I promise, I promise that that counting down line was not from the abridged series. That was in show, canon dialogue, and how could I not include it. It's so stupid I must.
Also, now that Nappa's view of Vegeta has been broken he can now notice when he does the stupid, as he so often does
