Ok, Yet another shorter chapter but like, it was either this or no chapter, I finished writing this yesterday and barely had time to edit. (actually, as of writing this I don't actually have it finished, I'm just assuming I'll be able to tonight) If this keeps up I might have to post my last finished POV chapter a tad too early to be relevant. Like, there's no new information in it that would really be a spoiler for later, but it would be a tad out of place in the middle of the Namek Saga
I suppose I could also finish up the other POV chapter I've been messing with, as it'd be more relevant, but depending on how I go about it, that one will probably have some minor spoilers if I do so probably not, though I am glad I started it before finishing this arc, since it thought me up some more minor details. This is why I like the POV chapters, lets me think of new things by imagining the events from other's perspective.
Regardless, I kinda wanted that one after my already written one since that's the order I wrote them in and whatnot.
frankieu: Thanks, and nah, he was talking about Tarble a few chapters ago, not Brolly
Kitsune-Queen91: Look, idk what to tell you man
thewittywhy: Thanks ^.^ I thought this way would line up with canon best.
And look, here's the thing, literally every other "Vegeta gets beaten into the dirt" fight I adore...this one...this one's kinda uncomphy to me. And it's such a shame that this story hasn't aligned enough to show much fun with Veggie getting beaten down. (the 18 fight...that one's gonna be fun)
As for SS Ki, well, I guess we'll have to see
Shadowj6480: Thanks ^.^ I bank in on dialogue cause I'm not good with action sequences.
And yeah, I've read a few fics where people are forgiven a bit too easily, but to be fair, it's not like there's much resistance in the show. Vegeta's just, there, during the Android Saga. No one really argued with it.
As for others' dialogue, I generally don't care for judging others' writing since there's no telling how long they've been writing. When I started writing this I went into it thinking that I don't care how good or not I am at writing, I'm gonna write it anyway.
"Their version of diplomacy is not eating your body after they kill you." Ha! totally gonna steal that. And hey, hat makes them better than Yajirobe then. His entire motive to go along with Goku during the Demon King Piccolo arc was cause he wanted to eat the monsters. And yeah, Veggie is a gremlin with the title of Prince, his father was supposedly worse from what little we saw.
And yes, get the baby healer out. Most important
Retalal: It's a fic based off the series proper, with some Abridged references
Hikari-J: I've been focusing on character interaction and dialogue. There will be plot changes, but maybe not as much as you're hoping. Any changes that happen, will happen because of SIGohan's direct influence, which, at least for now, SIGohan does not want to change anything, and is also five. Five-year-olds generally aren't known for their ability to make big changes, even if she is mentally older.
"Because now you're dealing with a Super Sayain!"
I shut my eyes to avoid cringing.
I mean, it's not like I could tell him how wrong he was.
Frieza chuckled, "forgive me if I don't tremble in fear "Super Sayain."
"Exactly what is that anyway? You certainly look no different. You seem no stronger than when we started, with even the same arrogance. No Vegeta, all a Super Sayain is is a Sayain Folk Tale you told yourselves as a form of distant hope that you might one day escape. And yet here you are, all lined up to be stepped on by my nonexistent boot."
"It doesn't matter if you believe me or not Frieza! We'll see who's under who's boot soon enough!"
"It would be kinder to kill you quickly, so you don't realize the folly of your thinking until you're already gift wrapped and sent to hell, however, I can't say I'm in the mood to be kind today."
Vegeta charged up his Ki, and judging by Krillin's and Piccolo's reactions, it was impressive.
I was still blocking out my senses so my only sign was the electricity sparking through the air and the ground cracking.
And the nagging feeling at the end of my sense that was annoyingly difficult to ignore.
Ok I lied, while not as bad as Frieza's, because Vegeta, the energy made me take a step back.
Eventually, I'm gonna start getting used to the Ki spikes. I assume. Eventually.
The island started to crumble away and Piccolo took off into the sky. Krillin and I quickly followed. Assumably, so did Nappa but I wasn't going to look back to check.
"So, because of that Zenkai whatever, Vegeta's gone from all talk to, that, in the blink of an eye?" Piccolo glared down at Vegeta as the energy crackled off him.
"Well, uh, at least he's on our side…for now," Krillin noted.
Frieza stood in place, unconcerned as ever.
Vegeta have a final roar that kicked up wind and debris with his energy, causing me to cover my face. Gotta protect the eyes and whatnot.
After a few seconds of talk, and, assumably, taunting, Vegeta tossed over a rock as a distraction before charging forward, only to hit clean air as Frieza flickered away.
Vegeta's strikes were quick, unending, rage filling every movement.
Frieza dodged each one with relative ease.
"He won't win." Piccolo, almost sounded scared with that statement.
"What do you mean? Frieza can do nothing but dodge!" Nappa asked.
The two shot into the air, every strike from Vegeta still missing.
"Doesn't matter how strong someone is if they can't hit their opponent," I said. A detriment to the Cell fight.
Vegeta brought his hands together to hammer them downwards into Frieza, only to hit empty air.
Ok, to be fair, if his quicker strikes weren't hitting, why'd he expect that one to work?
Vegeta floundered, frantically searching for the tyrant until he spotted him standing on a small island, arms crossed and unphased.
Vegeta looked, scared. Which he deserved. Being Vegeta. Course with Vegeta unable to do anything we were pretty much sitting ducks until Goku showed up. At least Vegeta was the best distraction.
Vegeta's frustration festered by Frieza's taunts and she shot a beam at Frieza's island, which was dodged like all the rest.
Vegeta shot two more beams, one from each hand, at the moving Frieza. Neither hit.
Vegeta continued firing countless blasts, none hitting their target. Always just out of reach. Purposefully so.
"This is pointless," Piccolo sneered, "he keeps aiming where Frieza is, not where he's going to be. He might as well be firing blindly, not caring who or what he-"
Frieza appeared right in front of us.
"…oh goddamn it."
Next thing I knew I was being grabbed by the back of my armor as Vegeta, as predicted, did not hesitate in continuing his firing.
Piccolo stopped only once we were a far enough distance that it could be assumed that we weren't in danger of a stray shot, with me held firmly in one arm and Krillin by the wrist.
Nappa also managed to dodge, but without the Piccolo assist.
"…have I mentioned I'm glad we're friends now?" Krillin managed once Piccolo dropped him.
"What, by association?"
"Yeah I'll take it."
"…so you weren't always friends then?"
Krillin looked like he wanted to laugh at Nappa's question, "you know what, why don't you just make a list of questions I'll answer once we're out of this mess."
Piccolo glanced at me when I was still clinging to him long after he had released me from his hold.
"Ugh, fine," I let myself drop to the floor before turning towards the still wild firing Vegeta.
"Hey Prince of Nothing! Would you turn off the friendly fire!?" I shouted to the distance, and apparently, Vegeta still had the wherewithal to fire a shot at me.
Once again, Piccolo snatched me up before it could hit. I landed back in place and fumed, my arms angrily flailing and gesturing in vain, unable to truly put words the rage.
"Ohohoho- Prince of Nothing! A shame I hadn't thought of that myself. Maybe I'll keep you around as a pet. You'd make a good replacement for Ginyu with a bit of…reconditioning."
Frieza flickered away after the comment not caring to wait for a response as he continued to dance through Vegeta's fire.
…
I-
…
Ok so I might be routing for Vegeta to win now but only a little.
Not that it mattered anyway, since it was pretty obvious how this would turn out.
Frieza tired of Vegeta's game and flickered directly in front of him, startling him out of the firing spree.
Frieza mocked him, flickering his tail under Vegeta's nose comically.
Vegeta raged, flying off into the sky before firing a bright purple beam back down at Frieza, it being large enough to dwarf any of the small surrounding islands. Some of the mid-sized ones as well.
It easily could have taken out the surrounding land, possibly the planet of Frieza weren't standing in the way, Piccolo shouted something of the like, as it was, Frieza launched himself at the beam, deflecting it, kicking it back to Vegeta.
Vegeta barely managed to dodge and the beam instead destroyed one of the nearby planets, that assumably didn't have life.
Vegeta floated… he began to descend, out of running low on energy or defeat, I couldn't quite tell.
It's, probably a good thing I couldn't see his face. I might actually start to feel bad for him.
Frieza shot forward, striking Vegeta, sending him reeling. He flipped around several times before then striking Vegeta down with his tail.
Vegeta landed in the water. Frieza landed, only to grow impatient waiting for Vegeta to, probably not, resurface, and quite literally parted the water, sending it flying in the air, creating a wall of water that blocked the view.
Which seemed almost counterproductive since he seemed so insistent on making it a show.
Apparently, he agreed with my musings. Since he then flickered back into sight, tossing the now writhing Vegeta haphazardly onto the island we were on, Kicking him into place.
"Now Vegeta, I'm sure by now you realize this is pointless. I can help you. Assuming you pledge your allegiance to me. All you need to do is say "Please Lord Frieza, spare me," and I'll have considered all this forgotten," Frieza's eyes landed on the four of us, "I'll even throw in one of these lot to live, your choice! Your old lackey? Or perhaps the Baby Monkey. It has some whit to it, might make up for where you lack."
Vegeta's hand clenched at the dirt as he managed to raise his eyes to Frieza's.
Whether he'd go for it or not, I couldn't say. By canon measures, I don't think he would, but standing here, at this moment, I can't imagine not.
…
"P…please….G-go to hell."
Frieza's bemused smile fell to an apathetic gaze.
"What a shame, I suppose every pet must be put down eventually."
I couldn't keep track of what, exactly, Frieza did, but it ended with Vegeta laying in a crater, writhing in a wordless pain.
Frieza flickered in front of us. Just for the sake of scaring us, before turning away, walking back to Vegeta's crumpled form.
"You know you lot can jump in to help at any time?" Frieza asked over to us, his voice light, "of course, I should clarify, help Vegeta that is, though I wouldn't be surprised if you'd like a few hits on him as well, knowing how he is, I'm sure you have reason to."
A hand placed itself on my shoulder, interrupting my glaring, Piccolo's hand. It was too tight, bordering on painful, but, I didn't dare complain. He looked, afraid. Piccolo wasn't supposed to look afraid.
"No? Suit yourselves then," Frieza turned away as he wrapped his tail around Vegeta's neck, lifting him off the ground.
Frieza leveled punch after punch into Vegeta's side. Hitting the same spot repeatedly, not even spreading the pain around.
I was suddenly glad for Piccolo's ever-tightening grip. Otherwise, I might have done something stupid.
As much as I hated Vegeta, this, was wrong. And more than anything I hated being helpless to it all.
As it was I just let the hand closest to Piccolo grab onto his leg. Not letting myself step back, or look away regardless.
Frieza got bored of torturing the single spot and began striking in various spaces, each designed to only make him suffer.
I felt a spike of Ki behind me before I could even turn my head or shout Nappa was charging at Frieza, who didn't even turn. He simply raised a hand and blasted him away, "now now," Frieza tilted his head towards the rubble Nappa was now buried under, "wait your turn."
It didn't seem to ever end, until it did and Frieza tossed the well past limp and bleeding Vegeta to the side, not any softly of course, but with enough force that he crashed into the side of a mountain, rubble falling on top of him as he landed.
"My my, what do we have here? A fallen Prince, how tragic."
Slowly, Frieza ground a rock that had landed on Vegeta into his armor, and soon enough, into his skin until it crumbled away, and Frieza's foot laid on his chest instead.
I flinched away and tried to ignore the helpless pained cries from Vegeta.
"It truly pains me to see you like this Vegeta. I suppose I should put you out of your misery."
Frieza picked Vegeta up by his armor, that bringing the singular point holding him up, as Vegeta hung limply otherwise.
Frieza angled his opposite hand up, prepared to strike, before turning to us, "don't worry, everyone will get their turn," he smirked looking at each of us individually.
Slowly his eyes fell back to Vegeta, who was thoroughly defeated, "goodnight sweet prince."
Someone
Landed behind us.
Sunshine somehow broke through the miasma in the Ki.
I turned, and saw Goku, back in the game, finally.
He paused as he looked over the grounds before straightening.
"Hey guys, what's up?"
The casualness threw me for a loop, and I failed to respond, as did everyone else.
His eyes landed on Piccolo, "Piccolo! When did you get back?" He smiled.
"Uh- Dragon Balls-"
Idly, I remembered that this was the first time Piccolo has actually seen Goku since he killed him and Raditz.
"Good good," he looked over the three of us, "I think this is the first time I've entered the battlefield and you guys weren't beat up! Well mostly," he turned to the Nappa rubble pile, "Hey Nappa! You ok?"
There was a vague response as the rubble shifted.
"Yeah he's fine."
Goku walked forward, "interesting outfits you got there, I doubt Master Roshi or Chichi would approve though."
"Uh- right- hey Goku-" Krillin couldn't quite manage a full sentence.
He turned to me, "hey you've gotten a lot stronger, haven't you?" He ruffled his hand through my hair, "I'm proud of you."
"Um, right…" I glanced up through my hair as Goku still didn't so much as look at Frieza.
"Pardon me, I hate to interrupt, but I must ask- who are you and what do you think you are doing here?" Frieza asked, malice on the edge of every honeyed-up word.
Goku's appearance distracted him from killing Vegeta at least?
"Hm? Oh right, you're that Frieza guy, aren't you? Well, I'll take care of you soon enough."
"Alright, that's enough! Goku, you are not fighting this guy on your own. As it is it'll take everything, we've got to even stand a chance against him!" Piccolo snapped, and Goku barely blinked.
"It'll be fine," he waved Piccolo off, smiling, "you'll see."
Finally he walked past us towards Frieza.
And the true fight begins.
