Ahha, two POV chapter in a row of which no one guessed. I am absolutely living for the confusion the last one caused. And, honestly, that was one of the first ones that came to mind when deciding to do them, I mean, a character that wan't a big part of canon but getting more focus, it helps establish him as a character and helps me figure out how to write for the character. Same reason I did the Nappa POV. By that logic, this chapter, which is much newer an idea, was the next logical step

Granted the next three I have are of canon characters, so to speak. Some more than others. I have no plans for POV chapters going into the seven year time skip. There are a few that might be neat, but none that demand a chapter to me yet, and we're a fair while from them anyway. though there are a couple scenes I either want, or need to be in third person going into that saga and after

thewittywhy: I do have one idea for an, alternate, form of power. And by an idea, I mean a crutch of this fic. That's a while out yet though, and SIGohan has far from thought of it. The Kaio Ken is something I generally think has to be taught by King Kai, it has his name in it after all, and as for wishes, messing with those is always a risky territory, and I can tell you right now that any wish she makes is gonna be at least told to Piccolo first and I doubt something like that will get through. A neat idea, though one I doubt SIGohan would want to mess with while there's a one wish a year limit, and once that limit is gone, lets just say she won't feel like she needs such precautions

Guest #2: Eventually, and we shall see

Ocari-

Ocari didn't understand a lot of things.

He didn't understand why aliens started to show up and attack - kill - his people and family.

He didn't understand why he managed to escape when so many didn't.

He didn't understand why Gohan - his friend? Were they friends? - managed to find him and take him somewhere safe - relatively safe.

He did understand that he was then in the care of another earthling - Bulma - along with an even younger Namek - Cargo.

Bulma - Miss Bulma, because some species have other genders that get different titles - was, interesting. She was loud and more irritable than anyone he had met. But not unpleasant. She took care to accommodate the two of them despite having only just met them.

It was the first time he had properly met Cargo. Ocari had probably seen him before but never knew his name. He was younger but so much, less scared than he was.

Perhaps he simply did not understand what was happening.

Another Earthling showed up then, he was short, barely taller than him, but he believed he was an adult.

He had a Dragon Ball. They were aliens. Those other aliens who were killing people were looking for the Dragon Balls - no - but no it was different. This Earthling was with Miss Bulma, who was with Gohan, and Gohan had saved him.

This Dragon Ball was the One Star. Grand Elder's. They must have been good then. The Grand Elder would never have given the One Star to a bad person. And it couldn't have been stolen because the Warrior Nail is the strongest.

But then another person showed up, the Earthlings seemed scared of him. He looked like an Earthling, but he wasn't? Maybe? But he looked so very similar. He could sense his energy, and while being very much stronger, it was also different. Closer to Gohan's maybe but not quite. But Gohan was an Earthling but this guy wasn't? How strange.

He was demanding the Dragon Ball. The not Earthling must have been one of the bad aliens. The Earthlings also wanted the Dragon Balls, but they were not bad.

Another Alien showed up, this one was most definitely a bad alien. Apparently friends to neither the Earthlings nor the Not Earthling.

He was dangerous. Scary. Ocari wanted to run, there was nowhere to run to. The Earthlings were supposed to be safe but even they were scared. Cargo was even smaller than he was. He apparently recognized this new bad alien. He was scared now.

Something, something he could do.

Ocari held Cargo by the arm and pulled him behind himself.

He couldn't protect Cargo like Gohan could, but he could pretend. Pretend and make Cargo feel better maybe.

The bad alien and the Not Earthling fought.

The Not Earthling won.

The Not Earthling killed the bad alien.

Just like the bad aliens had killed his people.

Was that good? Because the bad aliens killed people? Or was that bad? Because it was killing?

Ocari didn't know.

His elder would have said it was bad.

But Ocari did not know.

The Not Earthling turned to the Earthlings.

He demanded the Dragon Ball from them.

The Earthlings were scared. They would give the Dragon Ball. The sacred items their people were meant to protect, who have been killed in their attempts. Ocari could not blame the Earthling for handing it over.

They did so and the Not Earthling left, not harming any of them.

Then was the Not Earthling good? Or just not as bad as the bad aliens? That one seemed more correct. He had stolen the Dragon Ball. Treated it as a mere object.

The Earthlings wanted the Dragon Balls, but they at least treated them with respect. Not as much as a Namek, but enough that they at least knew of their significance.

Was that the difference then?

But now the One Star was gone. Gone with someone who would not respect it. How awful. - Not that he blamed the Earthlings - not when he also did nothing to defend it.

Then Gohan came back - ! - and he had a Dragon Ball. It was the Four Star. He retrieved the Four Star! Ocari had thought for certain that one had been lost when he felt its village fall - be killed.

But Gohan had the Ball! Was that where he had to go? To retrieve it? Apparently, he had run into the Not Earthling along the way.

He was not scared. He looked excited by the encounter. How can that be? How can that be when the Not Earthling was so very much stronger?

They were moving. Moving somewhere safe - but that place was supposed to be safe - now this place was supposed to be safe.

This new - definitely safe - place was no more than a crevasse between mountains. He did not question their decision. He had no better options.

He spoke to Gohan - he confirmed his feelings about the Not Earthling- That Man - he was not going to call him that out loud. Gohan also did not like him and thought he was a bad man. But was not as bad as the bad aliens.

He asked Gohan if he could be as strong as he was. Gohan claimed not to think of himself as strong - how can that be? He was so very strong. As strong as almost any Namek Warrior - Except the Warrior Nail, as he was the strongest - and the Earthling - Krillin - said he would get even stronger when the Grand Elder awoke his power!

Gohan also claimed he was scared. He did not seem scared. He did what he was supposed to. He helped his people, he helped those who were not his people. Defended a Dragon Ball! He wasn't even a Namek!

Ocari hadn't done what he was supposed to do. He's been hiding. But what was he supposed to do! The bad aliens were so very strong! He'd have been-

Maybe, maybe if he went to the Grand Elder he could make him stronger too.

Maybe then he wouldn't be scared and-

Gohan asked him to protect the Dragon Ball. Him, when Gohan was so very much stronger. Him, when Miss Bulma was the eldest.

He accepted the Four Star and held onto it long after Gohan left.

He probably should have offered its well-being to Miss Bulma - out of respect - she was the eldest.

But he was the eldest Namek there so it was his responsibility - and Gohan had given it to him to protect - protecting the Dragon Balls is something he was supposed to do.

Ocari wasn't sure how long they were there, several days to be certain. Miss Bulma was getting irritable, however, she made an effort to be kind to Cargo and himself.

She answered many of his questions, those he was willing to ask at least.

Questions on how the Earthlings' species worked.

Questions on their planet.

Questions about the bad aliens and the slightly less bad Not Earthling who was apparently much worse than Gohan had implied.

Miss Bulma answered questions plainly. Not overcomplicated, but not oversimplified either as some elders did with the youngest. Ocari appreciated that.

His elder was the same way.

Ocari tried not to think about it.

Miss Bulma seemed surprised that he followed the whole "gender" concept so well. His elder had already explained some to him, Namek was no stranger to tourism from other planets, though rarer nowadays than before the storms. His elder said it was easier to just call people what they wanted than try to remember what species preferred to be called, that there were too many to keep track of.

Miss Bulma appreciated the sentiment.

He never let the Dragon Ball out of his sight.

Gohan came back. Gohan came back with the other Earthling - Krillin.

And the Not Earthling - Sayain - the not as bad, bad alien.

Gohan asked for the Dragon Ball.

Gohan asked for the Dragon Ball with the not as bad, bad alien standing not far behind him.

Gohan - no - Gohan saved him - Gohan saved him and he trusted him so if he wanted the Dragon Ball he must have had a good reason for it.

If Gohan wanted he could have just taken it. He is so very much stronger than him.

It is a Namek's job to protect their Dragon Ball. But he is not capable of doing that. Nor is it his Dragon Ball.

He handed it over with barely a word.

Gohan made a joke about him watching over Cargo and Miss Bulma. It was certainly a joke because Miss Bulma was the eldest, so she is certainly in charge.

They left.

Gohan, the Earthling Krillin, and the not as bad, bad alien left.

With the Dragon Ball.

Ocari felt, wrong.

Miss Bulma decided she wanted to find somewhere new. Ocari did not disagree that this place was far from ideal, however, the idea of moving around in the open, was not appealing.

However he did not argue, she was the eldest, so she had the right to make decisions.

They were almost sighted by the bad aliens, only prevented because Ocari sensed their energies.

" hey looks like you're useful after all! " Miss Bulma had said. So were they burdens before that then? Miss Bulma had probably meant it as a compliment.

They found another cave. Ocari had to admit, he much preferred the concept of a cave over a crevasse. Covers over their head too. Only one opening to worry about.

Once again, he was unsure of how long they were there. He was usually good at keeping time, but without his daily tasks and his elder instructing him to sleep it was difficult.

Miss Bulma says it's easier on earth because the sky gets dark when the days end. How strange.

This time they were not waiting nearly as long as the first time.

Once again, Gohan showed up. With no Dragon Ball. The Four Star was gone. The Four Star was gone and Ocari had given it to Gohan when it was a Namek's job to protect them-

If someone could have gotten it from Gohan they could have gotten it from him much easier.

There was someone new person with them. His energy was similar to the Not Earthling - Sayain - Not as bad, bad alien. So then was he also a Not Earthling? Sayain? Bad alien? Not as bad?

Once again Gohan did not answer his questions. He claimed to be in a hurry. That he would explain later.

He could have insisted. He was the elder of the two - he thinks - maybe Earthlings aged slower - or maybe some were very small - like the one Krillin - or maybe Sayains aged slower - Miss Bulma said Gohan was half Sayain half Human. Does that mean Gohan was half Earthling? No, Gohan was born on Earth so that must make the difference.

He had waited too long to respond.

He nodded.

And once again, he waited.

Miss Bulma was restless again. He couldn't quite blame her. He asks about the other man who was with the two of them. Miss Bulma dodged the question.

That was, odd.

Cargo wanted to go outside. That was a very bad plan, there was no telling who or what was outside-

Miss Bulma agreed. Said that some fresh air would be good for them. They went outside.

The Earthling - Krillin - came back. Asked if either he or Cargo knew how to activate the Dragon Balls. Of course not, the Dragon Balls had never even been activated in either of their lifetimes.

Maybe Dende would know, he had said, he is of the Dragon Clan. Cargo had already mentioned that Dende was saved with him after all. Ocari had never officially met Dende, but they crossed paths a time or two.

It was rumored that he had the potential to inherit the Dragon Balls one day.

He did not share this with the Earthling.

Krillin nodded and left, not saying any form of farewell. Ocari assumed it due to being in a hurry.

They remained outside for a while longer. Cargo found a frog. It didn't, seem right. It didn't behave in any way frogs were meant to. Its energy was, wrong. Not any stronger than a frog was supposed to have, but somehow, off.

Miss Bulma had said that he was just being paranoid. Cargo parroted the statement. Ocari still did not like the frog.

They were outside when the sky went dark. It was frightening, he thought something bad was happening, but Miss Bulma was excited. She said that this is what happens when the Dragon Balls are activated.

The sky returned to normal soon after. Bulma seemed excited still, but Ocari stood rooted in place, terrified, as the power that came from the direction that Gohan was, was overwhelming.

Miss Bulma snapped him out of his stupor and he quickly returned to the safety of the cave, hiding in the comforts of her stuff.

Cargo and Miss Bulma followed after him, confused. Neither could sense energy. This was a problem. Because now only he knew where the danger was so he had to pay attention and make sure it didn't come any closer and-

Miss Bulma snapped him out of his concerns, he wasn't quite sure how. Directed him to do something, Or something.

That didn't make his concerns any less True. Nor did it help when it seemed like not ten minutes could pass before the terrifying power would increase even more.

Gohan was strong, certainly, but not that strong. Couldn't be that strong.

Ocari hoped Gohan was not close to that power.

" alright come here " Miss Bulma had said, and the next thing he knew he was being pulled against her in a hug. It felt nice, safe.

Very much unlike the outside where the energy was scary and overwhelming and surely no one could stand against that.

Once again he was not sure how long they remained there, much shorter than any of the other time periods, certainly, but nothing to say how long that was before he turned his head to the door.

There was someone there.

He said as much, it was not the scary strong power, but he couldn't quite tell who either.

Miss Bulma walked to the door and opened it, only to then slam it open and run out.

Cargo went to follow.

Ocari did not.

Cargo went back and pulled Ocari along.

Gohan!

Gohan was there.

And also other people.

There was also the Earthling Krillin, the bald not Earthling, Dende, and-

A Namek?

Ocari had never seen this Namek before. It wasn't strange that there were many he did not know well, but never seeing one? He had visited every village at least once.

He was strange too. He did not act like any Namek Ocari has known. He defaulted to glaring it seemed and did not acknowledge anyone there at all! Even the bald Not Earthling greeted Miss Bulma, as unwelcomed as it seemed.

The only time he didn't glare was when he glanced at Gohan briefly, almost half concerned, but then he looked away again as if no one else was there!

Gohan- Gohan seemed, off. Not there almost. He just kinda, stared off, not at anything but just, stared. It was, strange. Wrong.

Gohan was strange but not that strange.

Cargo was speaking with Dende. They had immediately greeted each other, all but forgetting about him. It was understandable, Ocari convinced himself. They were friends, he was the outsider there.

Miss Bulma and the earthling Krillin were talking. The bald Not Earthling was standing somewhat in the area, sort of making comments but clearly the odd one out.

The strange Namek was only staring- glaring -into the distance.

So that left him then. Him to talk to Gohan. He could do that.

Gohan who had been in danger while he was safe- sort of safe -with Miss Bulma.

He began to ask if he was ok, but no, that was a stupid question. He very obviously wasn't. So instead he stated that he was glad that Gohan was alright. He was here, and here was supposed to be safe.

Gohan didn't look very comforted.

Ocari remembered how he felt safe when Miss Bulma had hugged him. So he tried that. He was certainly not as good at it as Miss Bulma, but it seemed to help more at least.

After that he let himself simply stand at Gohan's side, listening as Dende told stories of his adventures, in danger while he was safe and-

"-and then Nail-"

And Ocari started. Because Dende was certainly referring to the strange Namek, but that was not The Warrior Nail. It- it certainly was not. Not in the slightest. He acted nothing like the Warrior Nail. Looked different too. He had met the Warrior Nail once!

The Warrior Nail was stern and respectful, caring and polite. The closest thing to care this other Namek had shown was that one brief glance at Gohan!

Dende then explained that no, this was not actually Nail. That this was in fact Gohan's friend, and that he was born on Earth.

He said that the strange Namek - Piccolo - just felt like Nail so he called him that by mistake.

That explained nothing, how can someone so completely different remind him of the Warrior Nail? Maybe his energy was similar kind of? But also not? At all? It seemed layered somehow. Strange.

And a Namek born on Earth? Did that make him not a Namek? But an Earthling? Or maybe not Namekian but an Earthling? It was very strange. And confusing. Maybe this was not the best way to categorize people.

The Earthling- Krillin - didn't he just decide he was going to stop categorizing people like that? Why did he- never mind.

Krillin decided that they should leave then. To go to their ship. To leave Namek. His home. That was dying.

It- he-

He decided not to think about it.

The strange- Piccolo. That was his name. According to Dende. Because he did not introduce himself. Piccolo, did not move. Ocari was not surprised with how he's acted this far.

He did seem to listen to Gohan? So that was, something?

Cargo wasn't very good at flying yet so Ocari made sure he held his hand while they did so to their new location.

The, ship, they had brought us to was large, but there were a lot of people here. Would it be big enough? How long was this trip supposed to be? That they were leaving his home forever for?

That ended up not mattering since before he even managed to approach the ship a strange- very strange- voice appeared in his head.

The strange voice had an idea to get everyone - Everyone! - off the planet - because they had wished all the other Nameks back to life!

Dende would have to go find the Dragon. It wasn't right, he was so young, but he was the only one who knew how and- and Gohan offered to go with him.

Gohan just got back and- one of the others should have gone- Gohan was younger than he was- it wasn't-

He was no longer standing on the blue grass of a crumbling island, but, well it looked like grass but it was green instead. And the sky was blue, just as Miss Bulma had described of her planet, Earth.

An- and there were so many Nameks! They weren't- they were here! And- and- his village! They were- safe. They were safe. And here. On Miss Bulma's planet. earth. Away from home but all safe.

He reunited with his village, who were safe and alive and- and-

He was present when the Grand Elder passed on his title, and mourned when he passed.

Miss Bulma was very kind and allowed for a place for his people. The place that she took them was very nice and had any comfort he could think of. He hadn't thought there'd be space for all of them but there was.

Her parents were also very kind. Parents, plural. Because apparently, it took two humans to make another one. It seemed very inconvenient. Miss Bulma did not explain how. Very strange.

The Earth was very interesting. The sky did indeed get dark at night and you could see the stars! You could never see the stars on Namek. Gohan said the stars looked even better where he lived, Ocari hoped to visit before they left.

The animal life was so much more varied. Ocari liked the small animals best. Especially the ones that's weren't that stupid frog Cargo kept carrying around.

Was that mean? He only thought it though so it was fine, right? As long as he didn't say it out loud?

The big animals were nice too, but he preferred not being close to them.

There was, there was so much. It seemed he'd never learn all he could About the earth. He was still so confused about how many different kinds of dogs there were and how they were all so different but all still dogs. Not to mention the things that then should have been dogs by those standards but then weren't, how did they keep track of them all?

He hasn't even begun to learn about things that were animals here. What about the plants, or the people? He's watched some of Miss Bulma's movies and shows but there were so many he could never watch them all!

He wanted to know. He wanted to learn all he could. Namek would always be his home of course, but Earth was also very nice.

The Dragon Balls recharged and obviously, they had let the Earthlings bring their friends back first. It was the absolute least they could do after all they'd done for them. And it gave Ocari another four earth months to learn all he could.

It went by too quickly.

He wasn't sure what happened, it was as if one moment he had plenty of time, all the time in the world to discover new things, and the next he had a week until they would be wishing for a new Namek.

He asked his Elder for advice, for help. He was told that any decision must be made by him alone.

And that wasn't very helpful. He knew it was his decision. He just wanted- something- something to help- he was running out of time and he wanted- something!

He didn't know.

Ocari didn't know a lot of things

In which Ocari is a tiny victim of culture shock
