Summary: Rafaela loses her temper when she is insulted by a mysterious student named Rosa. When she befriends a new student named Aaliyah Maxx, they must work together to stop this masked oni.
In Eastman High School, Ella and Ellie gathered together with the rest of the students in the gymnasium during second period. They wore white short-sleeved shirts and black gym shorts with signature-colored sneakers.
"Okay, everyone, listen up!" The couch spoke to the students. "Before we begin, we have a new student joining us." He turned to the new student. "Step forward and introduce yourself."
The new student stepped up next to the coach. She has dark skin, long black hair that reaches down to her mid-back, and hazel eyes. She wore a white tank top, grey gym shorts, and black sneakers.
"Hiya, the name's Aaliyah." The new student introduced. "My family and I just moved here from Detroit a week ago. I loved singing, dancing, and listening to rock music."
Aaliyah walked back to the group of students.
"All right then." The coach continued. "Yesterday, we did warm-up exercises. But today, we're playing..." He held up a red dodgeball in his hand. "Dodgeball."
"Yes!" Ella and Aaliyah shouted excitedly.
Most of the students, including Ellie, also cheered.
"Split into two teams." The coach continued. He let out a smile. "And remember, have fun."
After all students have split into two teams, everyone began playing dodgeball against each other. Some students are having trouble evading and ending up getting hit by the dodgeball. Ella and Ellie dodged the balls effortlessly. Even Aaliyah effortlessly dodged the balls without any problem. They managed to grab some balls upon contract and struck every opponent on the other side in sight.
"Timeout!" The coach called out. "Ten-minute break!"
Every student sat on the benchers to chat and play on their phones while the coach walked into his office. But Aaliyah walked up to Ella and Ellie.
"Hey, you girls are pretty good out there." Aaliyah said with a smile.
"Yeah, you too." Ella smiled back. She held out her hand for a handshake. "I'm Ella."
"And I'm Ellie." Ellie introduced.
Ella and Aaliyah shook hands.
Suddenly, Ellie got assaulted by a dodgeball from an unfamiliar female student. She has a slender, athletic build with pale skin, dark pink hair tied in a side bunned ponytail with a braid on the left, and green eyes.
"Hey, you!" Ella said with a glare. She stormed toward the unfamiliar student. "What the heck?!"
"Oh, come on. Loosen up a bit." The student said with a thoughtless grin. She held her hand. "It's just a game! A good one, that is. Hiya, I'm Rosa."
Rosa's hand got slapped away by a truly fed-up Ella.
"And I don't care!" Ella snapped. "We're in a timeout!"
"Who cares?" Rosa snapped back. "I'm not letting some silly timeout stop me from having fun. Besides, it's not over until I say it's not over."
"Are you okay, Ellie?" Aaliyah asked, running up to check on Ellie.
"Yeah, I'm good." Ellie replied.
Ella growled and marched right up close to Rosa's face.
"Listen, Rosa. You hurt my sister and no one hurts my sister, except for me." Ella said.
"Is that so? So, are you gonna do about it, hothead?" Rosa snapped.
"Hothead?!" Ella shouted angrily.
"Uh oh." Ellie said with wide eyes.
Ella soon tackled Rosa onto the floor and the two started wrestling each other. Everyone took out their phones and began recording, while Aaliyah and Ellie quickly ran up to separate Ella and Rosa.
Then, the coach came back into the gym and glared once he saw the fight between Ella and Rosa.
"You two break it up right now!" The coach yelled.
Once Ella and Rosa broke off the fight, they stood up and continued glaring at each other.
"Both of you in my office right now!" The coach demanded.
At the cafeteria, Ellie told Donna, Irma, and Lee what happened at the gym.
"Seriously?" Donna said.
"I can't believe you and that Rosa girl got into a fight." Irma said to Ella.
"Don't waste your time on her, Ella. She's not worth it." Lee said.
Ella crossed her arms with a growl. She then spotted Aaliyah walking towards their table.
"Hey, Aaliyah!" Ella called out as she waved her hand. "Over here!"
Aaliyah glanced at Ella and the group with a smile as she walked up and sat down between Ella and Ellie.
"You must be Aaliyah. Nice to meet you." Irma said.
"Ellie has told us all about you." Lee said.
"Yo, Ella!"
Ella, Sheena, Ellie, Donna, Irma, and Lee turned their heads to see Rosa stomping towards their table. She was now wearing a short-sleeved pink shirt, black baggy pants, black fingerless gloves, and purple sneakers that have darker purple lacings.
"Rosa, what do you want now?" Ellie asked.
Rosa ignored Ellie and focused on Ella.
"And let allow me to share something with you, Ella." Rosa said with a glare. "There's room for one tough girl in existence and that's me. And if you ever fight me again, there's gonna be a bigger trouble coming in your way."
"Heh, talk about all bark and no bite." Aaliyah said as she crossed her arms over her chest. "How about you to do us a favor and bore someone else?"
"Excuse me, new girl! But I wasn't talking to you!" Rosa snapped as she moved her glare to Aaliyah.
Ella then butted heads with Rosa.
"Well, that's too bad! Because if you mess with her, you mess with me! You wanna go, then let's go!" Ella snapped back. "I don't listen to toughies who's all talk and no punch!"
Rosa and Ella growled angrily, but Aaliyah and Ellie grabbed Ella from either of her arms to move her away from Rosa.
"Chill, Ella. She's not worth your time." Lee said. "Let's just enjoy our lunch before our next class."
"You don't have to tell me twice." Donna agreed.
Irma sneakily dropped a purple marble ball on the floor. The marble rolled under Rosa's shoes and suddenly launched Rosa toward the ceiling by a medium-sized, undetected explosion. Rosa crashed down on a trash can with disgusting garbage spilling all over her. Everyone laughed wildly at the unsuspected prank, including the Lotus Ninjas, Irma, and Aaliyah.
"Why you...!" Rosa muttered as she stared at the Lotus Ninjas, Irma, and Aaliyah with an angry glare. "No one talks like that to me and gets away with it. This isn't over. Not by a long shot."
For a whole week, the gymnasium went normally smooth for Rosa until her competing encounter with Ella and Aaliyah took a broiling turn.
On Monday, the students played a game of basketball. One team involved Ella, Aaliyah, Ellie, and two male students while the other team involved Rosa and four female students. Throughout the game, Ella's team shot the basketball through the defender's hoop multiple times while preventing Rosa's team from grabbing the ball to shoot through their own hoop. After the game ended, everyone, including the student from Rosa's team, became amazed by Ella's swiftness as they surrounded her. Rosa glared at Ella with narrow eyes.
On Tuesday, the students played a game of baseball. One team involved Ella, Aaliyah, Ellie, and two female students while the other team involved Rosa and four female students. Throughout the game, Aaliyah smoothly kept hitting the ball with a bat that either becomes a home run or out of the park. Thanks to her swinging, her team declared the winner at the end of the game. Rosa growled angrily as she tossed her bat aside to the ground.
On Wednesday, the students played a game of soccer. One team involved Ella, Aaliyah, Ellie, and eight male students while the other team involved Rosa, five female students, and five male students. Throughout the game, Ella kept striking the most kicks to hit the soccer ball to the goal at the end of the field. Once the game finished, Ella and her team cheered together for their victory while Rosa crossed her arms over her chest with a frustrating growl.
On Thursday, the students played a game of volleyball. One team involved Ella, Aaliyah, Ellie, and three male students while the other team involved Rosa and five male students. Throughout the game, Aaliyah's team scored the most points by grounding the ball with speed and strength on the Rosa's team's court. After the game finished, Aaliyah and her team high-fived together, leaving Rosa to glare annoyingly.
On Friday afternoon, Rosa was left alone in the girl's locker room. She sat on a bench, feeling angry and annoyed from her defeat from Ella and Aaliyah.
"No matter how hard I try, no matter how times I try, those girls beat me every step of the way." Rosa said. "Nobody pushed me around!" She slammed her clenched fist to the bench. "Nobody!"
Rosa stood up from the bench. Bright pinkish-white ring of energy extended underneath her shoes and swept itself upwards, transforming her into an oni-like creature. Her body grew into a height of a young adult. Her skin turned vibrant pink and her hair turned purple. She wore a sleeveless black jumpsuit that covers her neck, torso, and halfway down above her ankle with a cerise outline around her V-necked collar, armholes, and lower legs, and a pair of black dress shoes with a cerise outline around the top and cerise soles on her feet. She also has a pair of black curved horns on top of her head and a long serpentine tail.
After her transformation ended, Rosa formed a wicked smile on her face.
"I think it's time to play a new game of my own." Rosa said. "Ella, Aaliyah, get ready for a beating of a lifetime."
During free period, Ella and Aaliyah stretched their limbs at the center of the floor inside the gymnasium.
"Hey, Ella. You were right about that music playlist you sent me yesterday" Aaliyah said. "I'm normally a R&B kind of girl, but that band rocks!"
"Told you." Ella grinned. "I heard they're having a new song coming out next week, so I'll keep an eye out and let you know later on."
Unfortunately, the locker door pushed itself wide open. Ella and Aaliyah turned their heads towards Rosa, who was backflipping towards them and finally landed on her feet towards them.
"Hello, deadbeats." Rosa greeted. "Like what ya see?"
"Rosa?" Aaliyah asked in surprise.
"Is that you?" Ella asked in shock.
"The one and the only." Rosa answered. "How about we have ourselves some fun during our free period? Unless, of course, you're scared."
"We're not scared of anything, Sheena." Aaliyah said.
"Is that so?" Rosa questioned. She pointed her finger at Ella. "Take Rafaela, for example. True, she's physically strong at any sports. But that doesn't mean she's perfect. Despite all of this amazing strength, she's still an aggressive, hotheaded brute with no control of her temper."
"Look who's talking!" Ella shouted in a furious tone. "You think you're better than me?! I like to see try!"
"Yeah, what she said!" Aaliyah agreed as she joined Ella. "You wanna go? Let's go!"
Rosa formed a dark grin on her face.
"Then, it's a challenge." Rosa said. "But we're settled this my way."
With quick speed and acrobatic flips, Rosa orchestrated a volleyball court with Ella and Aaliyah on one side and Rosa on the other. Rosa zapped the basketball scoreboard to monitor the game.
"Volleyball?" Ella and Aaliyah asked in confusion. "We're playing volleyball?"
"That's right." Rosa said. "I happen to like that game yesterday. You got a problem with that?"
"I don't mind." Ella said as she cracked her knuckles. "Just don't start crying when you lose."
"Yeah, what she said." Aaliyah agreed as she placed her hands on her hips. "I mean, it's a two against one. Unfair but whatever."
"Oh, going cocky already?" Rosa grinned. "Let's get it on!"
Rosa simply served the volleyball, but Ella hit it with a smirk. The volleyball came to Aaliyah, who hit it up farther over the net.
"Ella!" Aaliyah shouted.
"I'm on it!" Ella shouted back.
Ella sprang up in the air and hit the volleyball over to Rosa's side, flying past her like a fast bullet.
"Oh? Did we hit the ball too hard for you?" Ella teased as she smiled cockily at Rosa. "You said yourself. I'm aggressive. So, I ain't gonna hold back."
"You two have great strength and reflexes, I'll give you that." Rosa admitted. "I must say. For mere humans, you're not bad to have fun with."
Aaliyah served the ball over the net, but Rosa put her hands together and shot it right pass Aaliyah and Ella. Both teams showed off their athleticism whenever they can during an average game of volleyball. Eventually, the first round went to the Ella and Aaliyah: 18 to 15.
"Aww, what's the matter? Tired already?" Aaliyah taunted in a smug tone. "We're not even breaking a sweat."
Rosa glared at Ella and Aaliyah, but she secretly hid a mischievous grin.
Then, Rosa served the volleyball.
"All mine." Ella said cockily.
But the volleyball went right past Ella and fell to the floor, missing her chance to even touch it.
"Huh?" Ella said in confusion.
Rosa served the volleyball again, causing it to hit past Ella once more.
"What the...?!" Ella exclaimed.
Rosa served the volleyball again. This time, it veered off away from Ella.
"Are you kidding me?" Ella asked.
The volleyball suddenly hit Ella in the face that knocked her down. Ella skillfully got back up on her feet with a furious look on her face.
"Quit it!" Ella yelled angrily.
Ella and Aaliyah tried to spike back the volleyball any way they can, but they unsuccessfully couldn't get a hit on the ball despite their speed. Surprisingly, the second round went to Rosa: 13 to 0.
"Are you kidding me?!" Aaliyah said irritatedly. "We were doing just fine minutes ago!"
"Oh, whining already?" Rosa asked with an innocently grin.
I may not have Lee's aura reading, but I can see her game. Ella thought with a small grin.
Rosa served the volleyball to Ella and Aaliyah. But Ella unexpectedly caught the ball with one hand. She let out a smirk and simply crushed it that dissolved into nothingness.
"Hey, you're not playing fair!" Rosa protested angrily. "How dare you!"
"Don't even try! You're the only one who pulled out that stupid trick in the middle of a game and you're telling me about being unfair?!" Ella retorted.
Rosa and Ella butted heads again.
Aaliyah went over to pick up another volleyball. She wasn't unaware that Ella sneakily casted a small wisp of fire magic into the volleyball.
"It's our serve now." Aaliyah said.
Aaliyah served the ball over the net. Rosa simply hit the ball with one hand, but the volleyball instantly detonated and charred Rosa.
"What in the world…?" Aaliyah said with a confuse eyebrow.
"Seriously?! You got some nerve implanting a bomb into the court?!" Rosa accused.
"Oh, look who's talking! You started it with that cheap ball of yours, freako!" Ella countered.
Rosa and Ella butted heads again with more force.
Rosa took the chance to reach her tail and grabbed another volleyball with her tail. As she jumped up with a flip, she tossed the ball into the air and spiked it hard past Ella and Aaliyah that created a sizable crater in the floor ground on the other side of the court.
"No more normalcy!" Rosa declared. Her eyes started glowing wickedly and spun the volleyball on top of her finger. "No more hold back! Let's make this game more fun! The final round decides the winner!" She put on a smug smile. "Power vs. power!"
"Power versus power?" Aaliyah asked in confusion. "But that doesn't make any sense."
"Best idea I've heard all day!" Ella accepted with a devilish grin. Her hands engulfed with blazing flames. "Let's get this game on!"
"Ella?! How…how did you…?" Aaliyah exclaimed with a gasp.
"Oh, so you have powers." Rosa grinned. "Now, this is getting interesting."
"Look, I'll explain it to you later." Ella said to Aaliyah. She turned back to Rose. "Right now, we've got a game to finish."
As the final match begins, both sides began serving the volleyball to score points by using their best techniques they can. Rosa jumped up in the air and engulfed the volleyball with intense pink energy from one hand before sending it flying with a swing. Aaliyah striked the ball back with a strong hit. Rosa sent volleyball back in a baseball bat style with her tail. Ella blocked the volleyball with her arms in a X-motion.
The game raged on intensely as the trio kept going head-to-head with the volleyball strikes. Both teams moved so fast, even the scoreboard monitored managed to catch every score on every single movement. Ella, Aaliyah, and Rosa panted heavily as they looked at the scoreboard, where the final round eventually came to the last point for both teams: 30 to 30.
"One more point decides the winner!" Aaliyah said.
Rosa propelled herself real high up into the air with the ball in her hand.
"You certainly entertained me, but now it's over!" Rosa said with a cocky smile.
Rosa hit the volleyball hard over the net that went diving past Ella and Aaliyah.
Aaliyah charged at the volleyball and hit it with great strength. The volleyball shot back up high in the sky that knocked Aaliyah back to the sand from the force.
"Nice one!" Ella grinned.
"Go for it!" Aaliyah grinned back.
Aaliyah flipped an upside-down position and then propelled Ella into the air once the mystic kunoichi jumped on her feet.
Ella soared up high to meet the volleyball just as a bright red magic circle formed on the palm of her flaming hand.
"Game over, loser!" Ella hollered.
Ella hit the volleyball super hard as a final spike, shooting it straight towards Rosa. The final spike created a massive heart-shaped crater in the floor behind them completed with reddish-white heart-shaped rings rising up into the air above the court.
Rosa reeled collectively in shock at her losing defeat.
"I...I lost?" Rosa muttered.
"That's right. We won fair and square." Ella said intimidatingly as she placed her hands on her hips.
"You may have won this match..." Rosa said. She swiftly enveloped her fists with blazing pink energy. "But we're not finished here!"
Rosa tossed the volleyball net aside and glared at Ella and Aaliyah.
"But it's over for you!"
Rosa, Ella, and Aaliyah turned their heads to the source of that voice. They caught Lee, Ellie, and Donna standing at the entrance. Lee, Ellie, and Donna ran up to join their sisters
"So, you and your friends all have powers?" Aaliyah asked.
"Sisters, actually. And yeah, you can say that." Ella answered.
"Ellie?!" Aaliyah exclaimed, turning to their orange mystic kunoichi.
"Hiya, Aaliyah." Ellie greeted.
Rosa growled and charged forward. She leapt high into the air and fired a large sphere of pink energy crashed into the girls. But Ella protected herself, her sisters, and her friend with a fiery energy force field. Rosa's hand glowed in pink energy and raised it in the air, shooting pink energy spikes that rained down on the girls.
Ella dropped the force field and carried Aaliyah in her arms as she and her sister scattered away to avoid the raining energy spikes. Ella ran into the locker room and placed Aaliyah on her feet.
"Stand here and don't move." Ella ordered.
"Got it." Aaliyah said.
As Ella exited out, Aaliyah opened the door slightly and observed the fight with an amazed look on her face.
"Lee, Ella, mist!" Donna called to Lee and Ellie.
"We're on it!" Lee and Ellie nodded.
Lee and Ellie charged forward. They sprang up in the air and combined their magic circles together, releasing thick white misty fog that surround Rosa and obscured her vision at the same time.
"What's going on?! I can't see!" Rosa shouted, looking around her surrounding with caution.
Donna released multiple glowing purple seeds at Rosa, making her stumble backward with a growl. Lee fired two powerful blasts of water from her hands at Rosa. Ellie spun herself rapidly and unleashed a strong gust with light orange energy blades that slashed at Rosa. And Ella released a spiraling flame at Rosa from both hands, trapping and burning Rosa in a fiery tornado.
Rosa didn't have a chance to strike back as all of the attacks came hitting her from different direction, leaving her collapse onto the ground.
Just as the misty fog started clearing up, Rosa found herself surrounded by the Lotus Ninjas.
"You were lucky this time." Rosa growled. "But there's always a next time."
With that, Rosa leapt away through the open window.
"That. Was. Amazing!" Aaliyah cried as she ran out of the locker room. "You girls are amazing!" She ran up to Ella. "I'm glad I met you. You girls got some sweet moves."
"You and me both." Ella concurred. She put her hand on Aaliyah's shoulder as she and her friend walked away from her sisters. "I'll be happy to show you this new move I had in mind."
"Did they just ignore us?" Lee asked Ellie and Donna.
"Yup." Ellie answered. "Yes, they are."
"Let them have it." Donna said with a shrug. "I could totally go for a pizza right now."
"I'm in." Lee and Ellie said.
