Summary: The Lotus Ninjas investigates into mysterious attacks that may keep them from their band's competition.

At Eastman High School, the Lotus Ninjas sat together on the rooftop during their free period. Donna, Lee, Ellie, and Ella stared at their phones.

"Anything after school?" Ella asked her sisters.

"Not really." Lee replied.

"Nope." Ellie answered.

"Same here." Donna responded. "As if today all sports and clubs are cancelled. Don't know why though."

The principal voiced his announcement on loudspeaker.

"Good afternoon, fellow students." The principal announced. "As your principal, I'm excited to announce that Eastman High will have the Battle of the Bands. A competitive music contest where we will determine the title of "best band". The contest starts tonight at 8pm. Don't forget to sign up. That is all."

"No way! First, the school dance and now the Battle of the Bands?!" Ellie exclaimed with a huge smile. She turned to Lee. "Lee?"

"Oh, I know. Leave the band fashion to me." Lee said with a smile.

"Well, let's go and sign up." Donna said.

"I'm down." Ella said.

The Lotus Ninjas rushed downstairs and approached the "Battle of the Bands" sign-up sheet. Ellie grabbed the black pen and wrote the band's name on the sheet paper.

"Lotus Hurricane?" Ella asked.

"Well, I've thought of band names for quite some time since mom taught us instruments when we were kids." Ellie said.

"It's actually not a bad band name." Donna said.

"Yeah." Lee agreed. "It's perfect."

"Okay, since music is my department, what instrument can you girls play?" Ellie asked.

"The keytar and bass guitar." Donna replied.

"The drums." Lee responded.

"And the electric guitar." Ella answered. "What about you?"

"Well, I can play all the instruments." Ellie replied. "But we do need a lead vocalist."

"You should do it." Donna said.

"What? Me?" Ellie asked, pointing her finger to herself with a confuse face.

"You said it yourself. Music is your department." Lee said. "I may be the leader of this team, but you should be the leader of this band."

Ellie looked on with surprise.

"You got it." Ellie smiled. "And I have just the right song that will lead us to victory."

The Lotus Ninjas arrived in the auditorium. They each got into positions and grabbed an instrument: Lee held the drumsticks, Ella held the electric guitar, Donna held a keytar, and Ellie held the microphone.

"Alright, girls. Let's do this. One, two, three, four!" Ellie said with a wide grin.

Lee started drumming with the drumsticks, Ella strummed the electric guitar, and Donna played the keyboard with her right hand to produce a rock music. That leaves Ellie to voice out the lyrics.

Once the rock song ended, the girls cheered with excitement.

"Our sound check is off the chain!" Ellie said.

"Heck, that song of yours was off the chain!" Donna smiled.

"Yeah! We're totally gonna win the Battle of the Band tonight!" Ella grinned.

"Oh, puh-lease."

Lee, Ella, Donna, and Ellie turned their heads to an unfamiliar female student. She has a slender, athletic build with pale skin, dark blue hair tied in a side bunned ponytail with a braid on the right, and blue eyes. She wore a blue tank top, dark indigo and black checkered pattern skirt, black fingerless gloves, and large darker cyan boots that go up her calves.

"You girls shouldn't be so easily cocky. It's not like you're gonna win anyway." The student said with an arrogant grin. "Now, please get off the stage. It's time for a real rock star to shine."

"It's just a sound check, Miss Ponytail." Ella said.

"That's Azura to you! As in Azura and The Screaming Shadows!" The student corrected.

"Emphasis on the screaming." Donna said with a scoff.

"Come on, girls. Let's do lunch." Lee said to her sisters.

Lee jumped off the drum set as she and her sisters took their leave out of the auditorium.

After the Lotus Ninjas exited, Azura snapped her fingers. Three black bats flew out of her shadow and flew above the instrumental positions. Each bat shapeshifted into three clones of Azura, grabbing the drumsticks, electric guitar, and the keytar.

"All right. Let's get this party started." Azalea said with a devious grin.

At the cafeteria, the Lotus Ninjas enjoyed their lunch with Aaliyah and Irma.

"Hey, where have you guys been during free period?" Irma asked.

"We just finished a sound check in the auditorium." Lee replied.

Aaliyah gasped as she stopped drinking her soda can.

"Sound check? You four sign up for the Battle of the Bands tonight?!" Aaliyah cried with a smile.

"Yup." Ella answered.

"And it was Ellie's idea to convince us to sign up." Donna added.

"Oh, I am so there!" Aaliyah exclaimed. "I haven't been to a good concert in forever."

"Yeah, me too. I haven't been to one either." Irma said.

"Wait, what?!" Ellie said with a gasp. "Oh, you two are so going. You can support us and rock out at the same time."

"Sounds like a plan." Irma said.

Suddenly, the cafeteria doors swung open to reveal Azura. All the students excitingly got up out of their seats and ran up to surround the smiling Azura, who enjoyed all the attention she was receiving.

But the Lotus Ninjas looked at Azura suspiciously.

"Hey, who's that?" Aaliyah asked.

"Her name's Azura." Donna replied. "The last time we saw her is at the auditorium after we finished our sound check."

"Let me guess. She's entering the Battle of the Bands?" Irma asked.

"Yup." Ellie replied. "As in Azura and the Screaming Shadows."

"I know the Battle of the Bands is coming in a few hours, but listen to my CDs and you'll be mesmerized by my band's rocking music." Azura said. "See you all at the contest tonight."

Azula stood up and strolled out the cafeteria with a peace sign.

"Okay, what just happened here?" Irma asked in surprise.

"Wow, I guess Azura really is popular." Aaliyah said.

"Oh, please. No one gets popular that quick." Ella said.

"True." Lee, Donna, and Ellie agreed.

Lee caught her eyes on a glowing black CD that some of the students are listening in their music players.

"Hmm. That's rather odd." Lee said.

"What's wrong, Lee?" Ella asked.

"I know CDs come in different vibrant colors, but since when they glow?" Lee questioned.

"Glow? What are you talking about?" Ellie asked.

Lee sneakily encased a glowing CD in blue magical energy and levitated it to her hand.

"Okay, you're right." Ellie said. "That's weird and awesome at the same time."

"Whoa." Irma, Ella, and Aaliyah said in awe.

"Shall we listen to it?" Donna guessed.

"If Miss High and Mighty thinks her song can beat ours, I say we listen." Ella said as she crossed her arms.

Aaliyah placed the glowing CD into her CD player. She handed on an earbud to Irma and placed the other to her own ear. As Irma pressed the play button, two black shadowy bats undetectably rose out of the CD and sank into Irma and Aaliyah's shadows, making them stare blankly into space. Their voices became almost monotonic.

"No limitations. Annihilation." Aaliyah spoke.

"It's good to have a bad reputation." Irma spoke.

Ella smacked Aaliyah and Irma in the back of their heads just as Lee took off the earbuds.

"Hey, what the heck, Ella?!" Aaliyah asked annoyingly.

"She had to. You and Irma were almost spaced-out." Donna said.

"Ugh, I'm fine." Irma said, rubbing her head. "My head feels like it's spinning once we listened to this song."

"Yeah. It's not too bad actually." Aaliyah added. "I kinda liked Azura's music. It's almost…infectious."

Then, the ringing school bell interrupted the conservation.

"I'll run some diagnosis on this CD after school." Donna said as she took the glowing CD out of Aaliyah's CD player and put it into her backpack. "Until then, let's head out to class."

With that, the girls exited out of the cafeteria.

Later that evening, Donna was examining the glowing CD inside her lab. Lee and Ella gathered behind Donna, who lifted her glowing hands in front of the table.

"Len purojekushon." Donna casted.

As purple magical energy surrounded the CD, it projected a large image of unusual frequencies.

"Fascinating." Donna said.

"What is it, Donna?" Lee asked.

"I'm detecting weird frequencies altering from Azura's CD." Donna answered. "It's almost...hypnotic of some kind."

"That does explain what happened to Irma and Aaliyah at the cafeteria." Ella pointed out.

"But could she be using her music to prevent other bands from competing against her?" Lee questioned.

"It's possible." Donna replied. "I'll continue running an analysis until I can create a solution."

Suddenly, the glowing CD began to glisten brightly.

Donna immediately backed away from the table as she, Lee, and Ella braced for action when they engulfed their hands with elemental magic.

"Get ready, girls!" Lee said.

Azura's music started playing loudly and three shadowy bats rose out of the CD. The three mystic kunoichis blasted their magic at the bats, who swiftly evaded the attacks and sank into their shadows.

Ellie made her way down the stairs and ran inside Donna's lab with a beaming face.

"Alright, ladies! Who's ready to rock on?!" Ellie cried. She then puts on a confused face. "Huh?"

Lee, Ella, and Donna stood in front of the glowing CD that was floating at the center.

"No limitations. Annihilation. It's good to have a bad reputation." Lee, Ella, and Donna said in monotonic voices.

Ellie walked in and stood in front of her dazed sisters as she noticed the blank looks on their faces.

"Hello, Lee? Donna? Ella?" Ellie said, waving her hand rapidly in front of their faces. "Snap out of it! We've got a contest to go to!"

"No limitations. Annihilation. It's good to have a bad reputation." Lee, Donna, and Ella repeated.

"Yup. It's official." Ellie said in realization. "They're under mind control." She looked at the glowing CD. "That CD has got to go."

Ellie quickly zipped through the air above her sisters and fired a beam of air energy from her hand that destroyed the CD into pieces.

"Yes!" Ellie cheered.

But Elle noticed that her older sisters are still mind-controlled.

Without a word, Lee, Ella, and Donna sped out of the lab, making their way to exit the fortress in their zombified state.

"How they are still mind controlled?! I destroyed the CD!" Ellie exclaimed. She then realized something. "Unless...someone's implanted some sort of hypnosis within the CD that can take control of anyone even if it's broken or destroyed. Whatever the reason, I've the only one who can save my sisters. If I get there fast, maybe I can stop whoever's messing with Azura's music. But first, our band outfits. I'm glad Lee was able to finish them in time."

With that, Ellie rushed off.

Back in Eastman High, a rock show began playing on the stage inside the auditorium. Everyone, including Irma and Aaliyah, cheered wildly and excitingly. Then, the band ended their performance with rock n roll poses.

"And that was the Renegades!" The principal announced. "Up next, Azura and the Screaming Shadows!"

Azura walked up on the stage and stood in front of the microphone. The zombified Lee, Donna, and Ella joined onstage. They are wearing a black dress with long sleeves, dark indigo flared pants, and black platform shoes.

From the crowd, Aaliyah and Irma exchanged confused faces.

"What are they doing up there with Azura?" Irma asked.

"And where's Ellie?" Aaliyah questioned.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen!" Azura shouted through the microphone. "Get ready to be mesmerized into the shadows!"

A bright bluish-white ring of energy extended above her head and swept itself downwards, transforming her into an oni-like creature. Her body grew into a height of a young adult. Her skin turned vibrant blue and her hair turned cyan. She wore a sleeveless black jumpsuit that covers her neck, torso, and halfway down above her ankle with a navy-blue outline around her V-necked collar, armholes, and lower legs, and a pair of black dress shoes with a navy-blue outline around the top and navy-blue soles on her feet. She also has a pair of black curved horns on top of her head and a long serpentine tail.

Before everyone could react, Azura radiated her right hand in blue energy and waved her hand around in the air, taking control of the minds of the students and the principal as mindless zombies since they were under the effects of Azura's music that happened hours ago. Irma and Aaliyah are also mind controlled as well.

"Perfect. My shadow bats will lead me and my fallen comrades to sweet victory." Azura said.

"I wouldn't think so!"

Azura turned her head to the source of the voice. Ellie ran across the beam and then grabbed a rope, amazingly twirling in the air before landed on her feet.

"I should have known the moment I saw your hairstyle." Ellie said as she pointed her finger at Azura. "It's the same hair as Rosa."

"Very observant of you." Azura said mockingly as she placed her hands on her hips. "Rosa is actually my twin sister. Who would've thought the so-called Lotus Hurricane are the ones who defeated my sister, Jade, and Chiffon."

"And I know your music have something to do with the mind control." Ellie added.

"Thanks to my shadow bats. With them, I have the power to control the minds of everyone and soon the whole world." Azura explained.

"And you really think the whole world is gonna listen to your music? Please." Ellie said as she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Oh, they will." Azura said. She snapped her fingers that directed the zombified Lee, Donna, and Ella to join her side to side. "And since my music got your sisters under my control, not even you can stop me. Get her!"

The zombified Lee, Donna, and Ella summoned their magic before charging towards Ellie.

"Girls, snap out of it!" Ellie pleaded. "You're being brainwashed! You've got to fight it!"

Donna released multiple shining purple flower petals at Ellie, who avoided them with swift speed. Ellie created a large energy of wind and unleashed a tornado of wind from her hands that sent Donna flying to the wall.

"Sorry, D!" Ellie apologized.

Lee fired two powerful orbs of water from both hands at Ellie. But Ellie backflipped and evaded the attack. Ellie landed on the floor and fired multiple glowing spheres of wind energy at Lee, sending her oldest sister to the wall next to an unconscious Donna.

"Sorry, Lee!" Ellie apologized.

Ella surrounded her fists in blazing fire and attacked Ellie with repeating punches. Ellie avoided each punch as fast and swift as she can. Ellie manipulated the surrounding wind and released it as a tornado towards Ella, spinning and sending her flying in the air before crashing to the floor.

Ellie laughed at her unconscious older sister.

"Not sorry, Ella." Ellie grinned.

Ellie then turned her glaring attention to Azura.

"Fine, have it your way." Azura said.

Azura released rapid blasts of blue energy at Ellie, who quickly dodged out of the way with swift speed. Ellie charged forward and concentrated a large amount of wind in the palm of her left hand before then releasing a strong beam of swirling wind. But Azura dodged out of the way. Her hands began to radiate with blue energy and unleashed several energy spheres that exploded in front of Ellie, who avoided them all in different direction.

Except one energy sphere managed to knock Ellie away.

"Is that all you got, ninja girl?" Azura teased.

Azura continued firing more energy spheres at Ellie. But Ellie quickly gathered her wind magic and produced a large force field to protect herself.

This is getting me nowhere. How am I supposed to fight Azura and wake up my sisters and everyone else? Ellie thought. She quickly realized an instant solution. With something more powerful than Azura's brainwashing music and her shadow bats...feedback! It's a good thing I've been practicing this ability for a long time. It'll hurt my throat a little bit, but it'll be worth it.

Ellie then dropped down the force field that halted Azura from attacking.

"Aww, what's the matter? Giving up already?" Azura taunted.

"Nope." Ellie replied. "I got a message for ya and it sounds something like this!"

Ellie took a large deep breath and unleashed a massive sonic scream, instantly screeching and damaging Azura's hearing. Azura covered her ears in pain.

"Aaaah! My ears!" Azura yelled. "Stop screaming!"

The zombified Lee, Donna, and Ella stood up on their feet as they started charging towards Ellie. Ellie took notice and unleashed her sonic scream that successfully snapped her older sisters out of brainwashing trance.

Ellie closed her mouth and rubbed her neck before walking up to a weakening Azura, who looked up at her.

"Show's over, Azura." Ellie said firmly.

"For now." Azura retorted.

With that, Azura leapt away out of the auditorium.

Ellie immediately ran to check on her sisters, who rubbed their heads with groans.

"Girls, are you okay?" Ellie asked.

"Yeah, we're good." Ella replied.

"What's going on? And how did we get here?" Lee answered.

"Yeah, the last thing I remember is that we were back at the lab." Donna said.

"It's a long story. I'll tell you later." Ellie replied. "Right now, we've got a show to perform. Also, I add a little vocal part for you guys."

Meanwhile, the Lotus Ninjas combined their magic to eradicate all the shadow bats out of the students and the principal, restoring them back to their old selves and erasing their memories of the event that they were brainwashed by Azura's control.

After that, the Battle of the Bands managed to continue to the final performing band: the Lotus Hurricane.

Lee, Ella, Donna, and Ellie stood onto their positions with their instrument. Lee wore a short-sleeved black t-shirt under a cropped blue shirt, dark blue capri-styled shorts bound to her waist by a black belt with a silver-grey lotus-shaped buckle, fingerless black gloves, and blue sneakers. Ella wore a short-sleeved black t-shirt under a cropped red shirt, dark red capri-styled shorts bound to her waist by a black belt with a silver-grey lotus-shaped buckle, fingerless black gloves, and red sneakers. Donna wore a short-sleeved black t-shirt under a cropped purple shirt, dark purple capri-styled shorts bound to her waist by a black belt with a silver-grey lotus-shaped buckle, fingerless black gloves, and purple sneakers. And Ellie wore a short-sleeved black t-shirt under a cropped orange shirt, dark orange capri-styled shorts bound to her waist by a black belt with a silver-grey lotus-shaped buckle, fingerless black gloves, and orange sneakers.

Lee twirled the drumsticks, Donna held onto the keytar, and Ella held the electric guitar as they started playing a rock music. Ellie grinned and began voicing the lyrics through the microphone.
