Back on the writing these last minute lol
thewittywhy: Yeah, Super Sayain was always kinda postponed rather than yeeted. Due to the nature of DBZ having the power multiplier is kinda necessary. And I'd say Future Gohan transformed the same way Canon Gohan did, which is really never shown but assumptions can be made.
And Yeah, as petty as SIGohan is to Vegeta, I can't see her just telling a child his dad sucks, as justified as it'd be
Slayer76: I do have a chapter getting into it a bit, but it's not super in-depth. Basically covering any major character dynamics and changes from canon.
Tinfoot: as stated in the response above, I am going to be going into the future timeline a bit, but outside of that I wouldn't make too many assumptions. I might not be changing the over all plot in that regard, but there are changes
And yeah that would suck
xavex: le thank
royalburrito999: yeah it's future SIGohan
TheRangerBoy: lol thanks
xXSelenaXx: She rolled the bad timeline. Worrying about the social aspect of things was kinda beyond caring.
And yeah, Future Trunks knows what's up, but anyone sending him back would be sure he's careful because, obviously. 'Course Future Bulma isn't exactly known for telling F Trunks critical information, that's a more simple fix
And Android and Cell sagas are my favorites too, as well as setting up some fun points in this story
I felt a power spike and the new Ki was suddenly a burning beacon, brighter than anything I'd felt before.
Now that, was a Super Sayain. Certainly.
Unfortunately, I wasn't the only one to feel it and was clearly the only one who knew it was a good thing.
"Why are you stopping?" I demanded as Vegeta of all people stopped in place.
"Oh don't pretend like you can't feel that new power! It's stronger than Frieza!" He snapped back.
"Yeah! So let's go see what's up!"
"Don't be ridiculous! If there's someone stronger we have to worry about we can't just go barging in-"
"If he, or whoever is there, was an enemy, then why would he be fighting Frieza?"
"What makes you think he's fighting against Frieza?"
"Uh, duh. What couldn't you feel like, all of his minions blip out? Pretty sure even Frieza wouldn't want all of his dudes dead."
"Well, uh," Krillin cut in, "standing around talking about it isn't really going to help, so, why don't we just continue over there and figure out the rest once we're there. Can't know if he's friendly or not if we can't even see him, right?"
Well, you can kinda sense vibes from Ki but either way, it was amusing to see Vegeta not have an adequate response and just mutter about getting a move on.
Which.
Is what I said.
And now he gets to pretend it was his suggestion because no one's gonna call him out on it.
Whatever.
We continued on and honestly the only reason I didn't rush ahead of Vegeta was because I didn't want to deal with it. And also not looking suspicious or whatever.
Of course, because Vegeta kept insisting we "be cautious" (where was this mindset on Namek?) we couldn't go very fast, because no Ki. Because apparently, Vegeta thinks Frieza's gonna be checking his scouter mid-battle for outside threats when according to my senses of the quickly dwindling fight, he is very much losing.
Frieza's malice filled Ki was erratic and panicked, while the newcomer's was as collected as he began, accounting for the burning glow of Super.
Meaning that by the time we got there the fight was already wrapping up.
"There's Frieza!" Krillin announced as we made around the last mountain range, keeping far enough away that we could still duck behind them to hide if necessary.
What's important is we got there in time for Trunks to slice Frieza in half, however. And subsequently, slice him into much smaller pieces. And blast those pieces into less than dust.
Efficient and thorough. No coming back from that one.
"Well, uh, there was Frieza…"
We were obviously too far away to hear any words. The much larger figure- King Cold I assume- was saying something. Of appeasement or of stalling it was hard to tell.
Trunks handed over his sword with little prompting.
King Cold admired it for a moment before turning it against Trunks.
Attempting to, that is, since the boy effortlessly caught it.
Any bargaining or pleading fell on deaf ears as Trunks blasted a hole through Cold's chest, and then blasted the rest of him into oblivion.
I ducked my chin into the collar of my cloak, to at least try to hide my grin.
"He…made that look easy…" Krillin said, barely more than a whisper.
Evidently, he was the only one able to speak.
Also evidently, Vegeta was sick of the whole cautious thing he put so much of his precious concern on as he was the first one to shoot up into the air.
That didn't keep the rest of us from following. Some more willingly than others.
After waiting a few seconds, as if to make sure Cold was thoroughly dead, the golden hair faded back to the lavender I remember so well from the series.
"His hair changed? What was that?"
I looked over at Yamcha, and I almost said something before my brain short-circuited for a moment.
Oh. They don't know what a Super Sayain looks like…right…
Uh, ok. Just, don't speak…that's what I'll do here. If I don't say anything, I can't say anything suspicious.
"Whatever it was, he isn't nearly as strong now as he was before…" Tien responded.
And, yep. Not saying words. Only speak if it would be more suspicious not to.
The boy looked over.
"Uh! Hey over there! Can I talk to you guys for a second?!" The boy called as he then made to land.
No one moved to follow.
Ok saying words now.
"Well? What are we waiting for?"
"Are you blind or stupid? That, boy, just killed Frieza and his father! Without being so much as winded by it!" Vegeta snapped.
"Yeah? And? That's a good thing? Frieza is dead. That's what we wanted. Congrats, we win."
"What you don't seem to understand, is where did that boy come from, on this stupid planet who just a few years ago had no fighters that surpassed a thousand."
"Well obviously, things change. If you want to act all scared and hide away, feel free. But I don't have the patience for this."
I descended.
Krillin dove after me first, and the rest followed with varying degrees of willingness. At this point, I'm pretty sure the only thing keeping Raditz here is his pride and not wanting to be seen as cowardly.
Trunks waited until everyone landed before talking, "hey so, in about three hours-ish, Goku's supposed to land not too far from here. I'm heading that way, you guys are free to come if you want," he smiled, looking over everyone here. Eyes lingering on Vegeta for a moment, but easily interrupted as being because Vegeta was openly glaring at, who he did not realize was his son.
Of course, that wasn't the main focus anyway, the obvious focal point on what was just said was, ya know, Goku, causing words of confusion from anyone there who didn't prefer the silent facade.
"And how is it you know where Kakarot is? Do you know him?" Vegeta demanded, impatience clear.
"Kakar- oh right, you mean Goku. Uh, no I haven't met him. I've heard about him though."
"Then how do you know where he'd be landing?"
"Uh, sorry can't say."
"Can't sa- give me one good reason why anyone should believe-"
"Hey, look. We can go check the place out and wait a few hours. Best case scenario, Goku shows and we get to be the first ones to meet him! Worst case, we waste a few hours," Bulma interjected, placating Vegeta enough that he didn't object again. Out loud.
Bulma's eyes trailed off to the side, "oh wait! But before we do that- hey you said we had a few hours didn't you?"
"Uh, yeah. It should be about three, maybe a bit less?"
"Great! So, can we stick around here for a bit so I can check out Frieza's ship?" Bulma's eyes lit up as she spoke.
"Uh- well I'm not sure if…"
"Oh come on cutie! Hey, what's your name anyway?"
Trunks seemed to have a minor existential crisis, of which I couldn't possibly guess the reason for, "I'm…a minor…"
Bulma pouted, "ok, but what's your name?"
"I, can't…say that either. Sorry."
"Oh…ok…? Hey Raditz! Let's go!" Any disappointment from Bulma was quickly covered by demands.
"What? Why the hell would I go with you?"
"Well duh, I'd barely be able to read anything in there at best. I need you to translate!"
"Make Nappa do it!"
Nappa looked over, "Nah I'm good," he waved the suggestion off, causing dearest Radish to glare daggers.
"Well, let's go," Bulma tried to drag Raditz by the arm, only to get shrugged off and for him to begrudgingly follow behind her, muttering to himself.
"O-k I guess we're waiting here now…" Trunks lamented as his mother unknowingly walked away.
"You know, I can't quite get a read on that guy," Krillin said, looking towards the retreating forms of Bulma and Raditz. And Yamcha. Yamcha decided to follow. Couldn't imagine why.
"Tsundere," I said.
"What?"
"Tsundere. He pretends not to care, aggressively."
"Huh, I guess that fits."
Krillin then turned to the newcomer, "so, mystery kid, where'd you come from anyway?"
"Oh, that, uh-"
"Don't tell me, you can't say?" Tien asked dryly. Trunks just kinda smiled in response.
"To be honest, my teacher wanted to come instead, to quote, "mess with you guys" but she ah, got outvoted."
"Of course, the trade-off was that I inform you of this. Word for word. Including this part," he rolled his eyes as he brought out a folded piece of paper holding it off as if to show off.
Out of curiosity, I went to take it. It read:
My teacher wanted to come instead to mess with you guys but she got outvoted. The trade off was that I inform you of this. Word for word. Including this part.
*show note* *allow closest person to take it and read it*
I grinned as I read through the note, an amused chuckle breaking free.
Well if the statement in itself didn't prove future me was still around, the barely concealed chicken scratch of my handwriting certainly did.
"Well," I said, "I don't know who your teacher is, but she seems really funny."
"…right," he said, looking absolutely done.
I'm sure I had something else to say. Certain of it, really. But at that moment I could not think of what it was.
Maybe I'll try again when I couldn't feel my heart beating through my chest.
Meeting some teen and acting like he's a celebrity, what's wrong with me actually.
Of course, now we were still waiting for Bulma and I was back to not saying anything, having retreated past Piccolo. Not- not behind Piccolo. Just, conveniently he happens to be in the way, by happenstance.
"So, when you say teacher, do you mean like, academically or-?" Krillin broke the silence.
"Huh? Oh no, my mom taught me all that. My grandfather a bit too. My teacher is the one who taught me to fight."
"Your fighting instructor is a woman?" Vegeta demanded.
Trunks frowned, "yes. And she's stronger than I am. Why?" Borderline suspicion in his tone.
"Ok! Uh, anyway-" Krillin interrupted before that could go any further, "so uh, are you her only student, or did she have others?"
"Well, I think she taught some friends of hers a few things before me and- uh, never mind."
"Can't say huh? Uh, what about your teacher's name? Maybe she's someone we know?"
"That's, something I probably shouldn't get into even without my other restrictions."
"Ok…what about the thing where your hair changed color? What was that? Can anyone do it?"
"Well, no not anyone, it's- sorry no, I, can't really say much on that either."
"Gee, is your favorite color classified too?"
"No. It's blue."
"Good to know."
Silence fell over once again, everyone kinda splitting up into smaller factions.
Trunks mostly kept to himself, checking his watch more often than necessary.
And of course, there was waiting.
And waiting.
"Hey Vegeta…my good, good friend…" I trailed off.
"We are not friends."
"Yeah obviously. Anyway, can I have that shirt?"
"I will burn this shirt the second I am no longer wearing it."
"That's such a waste. You should just give it to me."
"Burning it."
"Guess I'll just ask Bulma instead."
"There is no point. Because it will be atomized."
It was just over an hour til Bulma made her reappearance.
"Oh thank goodness," Trunks said as he checked his watch. Which, we still had almost two hours I'd guess. Hour and a half at least.
Bulma hummed to herself, pleased as she organized through some newly acquired capsules.
"Well, we'll have to come back later to scavenge the rest of the ship, but I'm satisfied for now."
"Great! Now just follow me and I'll show you guys where Goku's landing."
Raditz took a step back rather than followed.
"Hey Raditz, it's this way," Nappa corrected.
"Yeah, sure whatever. You can tell him whatever, I'll just, head back now."
"Uh, no? Why?"
"Why would I go? I have no stake in him coming back. And it's not like he'd be glad to see me. Since I kidnapped his kid and basically killed him."
"And I killed four of his friends."
"Yeah. Hi," Tien decided to remind them of the fact he was there. Not so subtly standing in front of Chiaotzu.
"Yeah, you'd think you'd want people to forget that…" Krillin commented. Napp grinned.
Trunks seemed to register what was said as he turned, "what?"
"Oh, yeah. Well, we wished them back with the Dragon Balls, it sounds worse than- no, no it was pretty bad. Uh, but it was a while ago now?"
Trunks just kinda, processed that for a moment, "that's uh, ok, I'm leaving now," he turned and flew off, waiting for a second to make sure we could follow before taking off.
"Great let's go," Raditz apparently no longer had a choice in the matter as Nappa was dragging him along.
Regardless, we took off and followed Trunks to our new destination.
In which we landed in a much more rocky and sandy area, at which Trunks immediately checked his watch yet again and landed.
"Ok, looks like we still have an hour until Goku gets here, so," he pulled out a capsule case and clicked open one of said capsules.
And out came a mini-fridge, of which he opened and pulled out a drink.
"If you guys want any, feel free. There's plenty here," he said as he pulled the tab and sat on a rock.
I waited until Bulma stepped forward to go ahead myself. She grabbed a beer, which, ok, kinda early but whatever. And looking in, ooh, Pepsi. Sweet sweet artificial flavors. Gimme.
I also grabbed a couple of water bottles, handing one off to Ocari and tossing the other to Piccolo. Ocari looked between the bottle, Trunks, and me before opening the bottle. Piccolo just held on to his.
Welp, nothing better to do than sketch I guess. Conveniently on the other side of Piccolo. Occasionally sneaking a glance at Future Boi. Who looked somewhat uncomfortable obviously being the center of attention.
"What are you looking at?" My curiosity turned to a frown as Vegeta spoke, of course to Trunks who was sneaking glances at him for, well, obvious reasons. Probably doesn't help that Vegeta was openly glaring at him either.
"Uh, no nothing. Sorry."
"Well obviously it's not nothing-"
"Would it kill you to not be the worst for like, five minutes?" I cut in.
"Probably. Best not find out."
I ignored him, "obviously he's glancing at you because you keep glaring at him! I mean really, I know you're stupid, but picking a fight with someone who made beating Frieza look easy is impressively stupid, even for you."
Any response, a very angry response from the looks of it, that Vegeta could have had was cut off by Trunks placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey, it's fine. Don't worry about it," he smiled softly.
But it wasn't fine. Trunks might think it's fine but Vegeta had no reason to be so, Vegeta to someone he just met. And obviously, it was much worse when that person is his son.
But never the less I instead turned my back on Vegeta, opting to pretend he didn't exist instead.
"Hey, so uh- I think it was really cool how effortlessly you beat Frieza, he was like, a really big issue on Namek. We wouldn't have been able to without you."
"Oh, I think you would have managed."
"Hm, maybe if Dad were to show up, but ah, right my name is Gohan, but I guess you already knew that…"
"How, would I know that?" He said, thankfully more curious than suspicious.
"Oh! Uh, I just meant- that because you knew dad was coming back here soon- you uh, probably know other things too," oh hey, look, my soda. Better drink some of that. As to not say words wrong again.
Whatever happened to not talking. I should go back to that.
"Uh anyway! Nice to meet you! Bye!" And I shuffled back off to my safety behind Piccolo, who looked somewhere between amused and- whatever that other expression was- suspicious? Confused? Whatever. Not in a deciphering mood.
"Do you have a crush?" This time it was my turn to stumble back as Raditz all but leaned over me.
"What? No! Obviously I don't-" then a bit quieter, "if anything it's more like hero-worship, which probably isn't much better- but no!" That, he's what? 18? No, he said he was a minor, so like 17. That's creepy. Gross, no.
"My god, it has normal child emotions," and I would have been much happier at seeing Raditz grinning, well, more smirking, for like, the first time ever. If it wasn't, you know, at my expense.
No nope. Done with this. Done with talking. Done with talking with people. Just gonna drink my stupid soda and glare at my stupid sketchbook until Goku gets here. Which cannot be soon enough.
Krillin-
Krillin looked over at Gohan and Raditz with a slight frown.
That was the exact reaction he was expecting when he teased Gohan about that girl a few months ago.
Maybe, because Raditz was his actual Uncle it worked better? But, he knew Gohan longer so that should make up for something, right?
Maybe, Gohan was just more defensive against having a crush on a boy? That'd make sense- but that, didn't seem quite right either. Gohan was too young to really think about, things like that. Goku definitely didn't care, it was Goku. Maybe Chichi- but he couldn't imagine her mentioning anything around Gohan-
Maybe, maybe Gohan did like the boy? Not- not that there was anything wrong with that! But, Krillin didn't think he could make jokes like that, like Raditz did, if that were the case. If he was wrong it'd be way more embarrassing for Gohan.
It was different making jokes when it was a boy and a girl. Because, because- it just was.
There were more important things to worry about anyway. Like who that mystery boy even was. Or if he was telling the truth about Goku coming back.
It didn't make any sense for what the boy claims to be true. How he would know Goku would be here? He says he never even met him. It was impossible.
But even so, he hoped Goku would come. It's just, been too long since he's seen him.
Maybe he should have used this hour to go get Chichi, that would have been nice.
But no, if they were wrong, it would have been mean to get her hopes up like that.
He'd just have to hope enough for the both of them.
