Summary: When Saldana swaps her daughters' elemental magic, the Lotus Ninjas are having trouble adjusting their new power swap. But when they planned a sleepover in the fortress with Irma and Aaliyah, things are unsurprisingly crazy when there's a strange oni hiding in the fortress.
On a bright afternoon, Saldana sat on the floor close to the wall as the Lotus Ninjas prepared themselves to start their elemental training inside the dojo. Phantom knelt next to Saldana while Ekron rested on Phantom's hands and Ryoko rested in Saldana's arms.
The training started with Lee and Ellie, who faced each other with determination. Ellie engulfed her hands with wind energy as Lee's hands are enveloped with water energy.
Lee made the first move and charged forward. Ellie charged forward towards her oldest sister and delivered a strong gust of wind at Lee. Lee protected herself from Ellie's attack with a water shield. She then converted the edges of her water shield into five tentacles and fired them at her youngest sister. Ellie smiled and spun herself so fast that produced herself as a living tornado that vaporized the water tentacles upon contact.
Lee darted forward and released a rapid barrage of crescent-shaped water blades, which Ellie immediately backflipped away to avoid them. Ellie then ran around Lee with great speed as Lee continued unleashing water blades at her.
"Sorry! Too slow!" Ellie said cockily as she kept evading.
With a smirk, Lee performed a handstand with her legs in full split. Both of her legs are engulfed in solid water.
Before Ellie can launch a wind-based attack, Lee swiftly spun herself upside-down and unleashed a stream of big bubbles from her legs that effectively hit Ellie at great force, sending her to fall to the ground.
"I win." Lee said with a smile.
"Uh-huh. Whatever." Ellie wheezed as she held a thumb-up.
Donna extended her hands out and conjured colorful flower petals around herself. She constructed them into threatening snakes that are ready to obey her command. Ella, on the other hand, cracked her neck from side to side and warmed up her hands with blazing flames
"Let's do this, D." Ella grinned. "Besides, you know fire beats plants."
"Who says I was going to beat you with plants?" Donna grinned back.
Donna clapped her hands together, converting the flower-petaled snakes into solid stone.
"Whoa." Ella said with wide eyes.
Donna smirked. She lifted her hands forward, commanding the stone tentacles to slither towards Ella. But Ella evaded each stone tentacles one by one until she got attacked by one of them. Ella narrowed her eyes and slammed her fists to the floor, sending a wave of fire that burned Donna's feet. That also caused Donna to lose her balance and concentration. Donna rubbed her feet just as the stone tentacles crumbled into nothingness.
Ella walked up to Donna with a smirk, which Donna looked up at her with a glare.
"Okay, alright." Donna said as she rolled her eyes. "I'm out."
As Donna got up and walked away, Ella spun around to face Lee with a determined smile. Donna knelt next to Phantom, who patted her head with one hand. Ekron nuzzled Ellie's cheek for comfort, which Ellie smiled in return.
Lee and Ella summoned their magic as they faced each other with determination.
"You ready for this, sis?" Lee smiled.
"You know it." Ella grinned.
Lee released concentrated beams of water from her hands to attack Ella in rapid speed, but Ella quickly dodged the water beams with quick backflips and then fired two fireballs at her older sister from the palm of her hands. Lee evaded both fireballs and landed on the floor as she then solidified the water into ten shurikens and tossed them towards Ella all at once. But Ella avoided the water shuriken by ducking down in a full split. She jumped back to her feet and launched a rapid series of fireballs at Lee, who managed to dodge each one with swift speed and agility. As the two continued to charge and clash each other, Lee formed a circular torrent of water in front of her hands and directed the cyclone of water to attack Ella, sending the red mystic kunoichi crash to the wall.
"Yamè!" Saldana commanded
Saldana sat up on her feet and walked in front of their daughters once Lee, Ella, Donna, and Ellie stood at the middle of the dojo.
"You all have successfully mastered your magic potential to extent." Saldana said in a congratulate manner. Her voice changed into a warning tone. "But there will be time where you may not be able to fight with your own powers. To avoid that, you must learn to adapt to your elemental environment."
"Uh, meaning?" Ellie asked in confusion.
"Starting today, I will be switching your magic." Saldana replied.
The Lotus Ninjas exchanged surprise faces. This is the first time they ever heard a magic swap since they never even have a thought of training each other's magic before. It didn't take Saldana long to notice the hesitant looks on her daughters' faces.
"I know it's sudden, but not to worry. It's only temporary." Saldana assured. She lifted both hands and readied to chant a spell. "Suitchi pawā."
At Saldana's words, four colorful magic auras escaped out of the Lotus Ninjas' bodies. The mystic kunoichis looked up at their own auras with awestruck faces. The magic auras then zoomed into the mystic kunoichis' bodies. A purple aura flashed around Lee, a blue aura flashed around Ella, a red aura flashed around Ellie, and an orange aura flashed around Donna.
Saldana walked over to Lee.
"Leona, you will control the power of earth." Saldana said. She moved over to Ella. "Rafaela, the power of water." She went over to Ellie. "Michelle, the power of fire." She moved over to Donna. "And Donatella, the power of air."
Saldana walked back to Phantom, Ekron, and Ryoko before turning back to her daughters.
"Now, give it a try." Saldana instructed.
Despite their hesitant expressions, the Lotus Ninjas obeyed.
Lee aimed her hands at the floor and created a pillar of earth that hit her straight to the ceiling. Ella tried to create a large sphere of water above her hands, but she got herself trapped inside it and held in her breath. Ellie generated a fireball in the palm of her hand and ended up caught in an unexpected explosion. Donna was having trouble generating a tornado, but she ended up flying inside.
"I think that's quite enough for now." Saldana ordered.
Ellie coughed the smoke out of her mouth. Donna collapsed to the floor with a dizzy face. Lee instantly fell to the floor and groaned in pain. Ella fell on the floor and caught deep breaths after the water sphere popped.
"It may look difficult, but this lesson will teach you about adapting, versatility, and creativity." Saldana instructed. "But it's like I said. It's only temporary."
In the living room, the Lotus Ninjas sat on the living room as they began developing on how to understand each other's magic.
Ellie pointed her hand and winced as a ball of fire erupted from the palm of her hand. She watched as the fireball landed on the carpet.
"Oops." Ellie said sheepishly.
"Ellie!" Lee and Donna shouted.
"What were you thinking using my fire like that?!" Ella snapped.
"Well, you have Lee's power. Put it out." Ellie retorted.
Ella pushed her palms out in the direction of the fire, but she had completely missed and the water blast hit Lee.
"Oops." Ella said.
"Not so easy, isn't it?" Ellie retorted again.
Ella aimed her palm out and fired a water blast at Ellie's face.
"Let me try." Donna insisted.
Donna unleashed a strong blast of air through her mouth. It extinguished the fire on the carpet, but its power sent Donna flying high in the air.
Suddenly, Ella heard her phone vibrating and checked the notification.
"Hey, I've got a text from Aaliyah." Donna said.
Lee and Ellie gathered around Ella, who was reading the text message on her cell phone.
"She says she's waiting for Irma and then they're heading here for our sleepover tonight." Ella informed.
"I think that's enough magic swapping for today." Lee said.
Donna crashed onto the carpet with a thud.
"I concur." Donna agreed with a groan.
Meanwhile, Irma and Aaliyah stood on a building rooftop. Irma wore a bright green tank top with black straps and three organza ruffles across it, and dark green shorts that has black organza ruffles lining the sides and hem. Aaliyah wore a maroon singlet that has a black human skull with two long bones crossed below it and black shorts.
"Ready for your first sleepover?" Irma asked.
"Born ready." Aaliyah grinned. "Even though it's my first sleepover."
Irma took out three small glowing white pearls out of her pockets.
"What are those?" Aaliyah asked.
"A little something Donna and I invented." Irma explained. She handed another pearl to Aaliyah. "All we have to do is step on the pearl and it'll take us straight to the fortress."
Unknown to Irma, the third pearl was glowed in light blue energy and floated out of her hand. It zoomed away just before Irma looked down at the palm of her hand. Aaliyah, on the other hand, stared at the pearl with an amaze face.
"Huh?" Irma muttered to herself. "I could've sworn I has three pearls." She shook her head and looked back at Aaliyah. "Shall we?"
"We shall." Aaliyah replied.
Irma and Aaliyah placed the pearls on the ground. As they smashed them with their slippers, a transparent white bubble started to surround the girls and floated them up to the sky in rocketing speed.
Within the shadows, a mysterious creature examined the pearl between her fingers and formed a malicious smile on her face.
Back in the Crete Fortress, the Lotus Ninjas had already changed into their nighttime attire. Lee wore a navy-blue sleeveless nightgown with a black fringe along the shoulders. Ella wore a black singlet with bright scarlet trim with a large bright scarlet skullette in the middle and dark burgundy shorts with a black trim. Donna wore a pale lavender nightgown with black straps going over the shoulders and black sheer ruffles on the chest and at the end of the skirt. Ellie wore an off-shoulder orange shirt and dark tangerine sweat pants with black trimming and drawstring.
Ellie, Ella, and Aaliyah are having a pillow fight, Lee was painting Irma's fingernails, and Irma was chatting with Donna about vacation spots.
"Let's see. The last time I went on a vacation with my mom is at Cancun, Mexico." Irma said.
"Wait, what?!" Aaliyah gasped. She quickly ducked as Ellie whacked Ella with a pillow that knocked her to the floor. "You went to Mexico?! You're so lucky, girl!"
"Yeah, my mom and I went on a jungle tour, swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling in the second largest reef in the world, and went on the Day of the Dead festival." Irma said with a smile. "We have so much fun there."
"Well, we haven't been to Mexico. Every year, we always go to Japan for our summer vacations. But she did let go separate vacations one-time last summer." Lee said.
"Really? You girls are so lucky." Irma gasped in surprise.
"So, what did you girls go?" Aaliyah asked with an eager face.
"I went to London." Lee confessed. "Took a long walk across the Millennium Bridge, relaxing in the London Eye, and spend a whole day shopping around Piccadilly Circus. You won't believe the crazy sales they have over there."
"Oh please. That's nothing compared to Puerto Rico I went last summer." Donna said. "I went sightseeing at the Morro Castle, Old San Juan, El Yunque Tropical Rainforest, Río Camuy Cave Park, and my ultimate favorites: the Turtle Beach and Vieques Biobay."
"Paris was my last summer vacation." Ella said. "The only places I had my fun was the Eiffel Tower, Le Marais, and cruising on the Seine River."
"My last summer was Hawaii." Ellie said. "My favorite things I do there was sunset paddling, surfing the ocean waves, and those Hula dances."
"Whoa, that's sick." Aaliyah said surprisingly.
"Totally." Irma agreed. "We should definitely plan a one-week girl trip this summer."
"I'm down." Ella grinned.
"Me two." Donna beamed.
"Alright, ladies, it's time for the moment we've all been waiting for." Ellie announced. "It's time for…Truth or Dare."
"Of course, only you will be excited for that." Lee smiled. "Who wants to start first?"
"I do." Aaliyah said. "I dare Ellie to eat…fifteen pizza slices."
"Oh, it's on." Ellie grinned widely.
A transparent white bubble started floating above the girls, who paid no attention to it. It then landed inside the kitchen. Once it popped, the mysterious oni-like creature landed on the floor and started stretching her limbs. She has the height of a young adult. She has vibrant sky-blue skin and shoulder-length yellow hair. She wore a sleeveless black jumpsuit that covers her neck, torso, and halfway down above her ankle with a midnight blue outline around her V-necked collar, armholes, and lower legs, and a pair of black dress shoes with a midnight blue outline around the top and midnight blue soles on her feet. She also has a pair of black curved horns on top of her head and a long serpentine tail.
The oni creature slithered undetectably out of the kitchen and moved under the clothed dining table, spying the girls on their Truth or Dare game.
"Thanks to my comrades' failures, my peaceful days of meditation will have to halt for a while." The oni creature murmured. "It's up to me to take care of these pests the rest of them cannot."
Meanwhile, Ellie began munching pizza slices from the last pizza box.
"Easy does it, Ellie. You've got this!" Aaliyah cheered. "Concentrate. You're almost there!"
"Ellie! Ellie! Ellie! Ellie!" Donna, Ella, Irma, and Lee shouted.
Ellie chomped the last pizza slice and performed a backflip on the couch. Aaliyah, Donna, Ella, Irma, and Lee applauded with smiles and whoops.
"Yes!" Ellie grinned. She took a bow in front of her sisters and friends. "Thank you! Thank you!"
Then, a wicked giggle filled the air that made the girls stop clapping. Ellie, Aaliyah, Donna, Ella, Irma, and Lee hopped onto their feet in defensive positions. They searched around for the source of that giggle until they turned to the blue oni creature standing few inches towards them.
"Oh, great. Another oni freak?" Ella groaned.
"Who are you?" Lee demanded. "How did you find our home?"
"I am Aqua." The oni creature introduced. She pointed her finger to Irma and Aaliyah. "And I wouldn't be here if it weren't for your friends over here. Thanks for the trip."
"What is she talking about?" Ella asked Irma and Aaliyah.
Aaliyah shrugged her shoulders as a response, but Irma patted her pocket and realized that the third pearl is gone.
"Uh no. She must've took my last pearl back in the city!" Irma exclaimed in shock.
"Let me guess. You're here for revenge?" Donna asked Aqua.
"Yes...and no." Aqua replied coolly. "After I heard what happened to Jade and the others, all I wanted to challenge you magic warriors in a battle." Her smile grew as she aimed her hands forward. "Prepare yourself for a painful lesson, girls."
Aqua shot out multiple blue energy balls at the girls, who moved out of the way. Irma and Aaliyah dove behind the couch as the Lotus Ninjas got into fighting stances. Lee charged forward and generated a long earth pillar from the floor below Aqua, who took notice and moved away in a nick of speed before firing blue energy spheres that sent Lee flying to the wall. Ella dashed next and created several rapid blasts of solid water at Aqua, who avoided the water blasts in a zigzag motion and then fired a large blue energy blast from her hand that sent Ella flying straight to Lee. Ellie created fireballs around her body and shot each one at Aqua, but the oni creature delivered swift triple back kicks that sent Ellie flying into Lee and Ella. Donna released a strong gust of air at Aqua from her mouth, but Aqua sprang over the wind gust and wrapped her tail around Donna before slamming her multiple times to the ground and tossed her towards her downed sisters.
"What's wrong? Lost your wills to fight?" Aqua teased.
Aqua charged forward, but the Lotus Ninjas recovered and scattered away again. While Aqua continued firing blue energy-based attacks at the mystic kunoichis, Aaliyah and Irma watched the battle at a short distance behind the couch. They both observed that Lee, Ellie, Ella, and Donna blasting their new, temporary magic at Aqua, but the oni creature kept hitting easily with her powers.
"Okay, this is so not working." Aaliyah said to Irma. "They can't fight like this."
"Tell me about it." Irma agreed. "Remember when Lee told us that Saldana had switched their magic? From the looks of it, she and her sisters are lacking adjustment to one another's elemental powers.
"So, you're saying that they are misusing each other's powers?" Aaliyah questioned.
"Exactly." Irma answered.
"But what are they supposed to do? The way I see it, Saldana wants them to learn about each other's weakness in their own way." Aaliyah said.
Aaliyah's words made Irma's eyes widen in realization.
"That's it. Aaliyah, you're a genius." Irma said. She turned back to the Lotus Ninjas with a yell. "Hey, girls! Listen up! We know the reason why Saldana switch your magic! To use them like you do with your own magic, not how others do it!"
The Lotus Ninjas looked at Irma and then exchanged nodding smiles, knowing that they have to use their swapping elements in their own way. They quickly got back up on their feet and stared at Aqua.
"Well, switched or not, it's as you Earthlings say, game on!" Aqua grinned as she cracked her knuckles.
Aqua fired numerous blue energy blasts at the Lotus Ninjas at rapid speed. But the Lotus Ninjas scattered past the rapid energy blasts.
"Donna, you have Ellie's air magic! Let it the way you do with your earth magic!" Aaliyah shouted.
Donna nodded. She began calculating exact spots to strike Aqua with her air-based magic. After she found the exact spots with a grin, she formed two large hands out of air energy and clamped around Aqua before repeatedly slamming the oni creature around the floor and smashing her for the final time.
"Oh, right." Donna smiled. She turned to Ellie. "Ellie, you're up!"
Ellie charged forward with a cocky grin. She created a large, horizontal fiery tornado that started drilling rapidly through Aqua. The fiery tornado also began scorching the oni creature all over her body.
"Booyah!" Ellie cheered with a wink. "Oh, Ella!"
Ella charged forward and rammed Aqua with brute force from her punching fists. She then backflipped and created a series of spheres out of solid water, launching them together at Aqua in an explosion that slammed the oni creature brutally hard to the floor.
"Now, that felt pretty good." Ella smirked. "She's all yours, Lee!"
Lee swiftly flipped in the air and manifested five balls of earth energy from both hands. She then released powerful blasts of earth energy toward Aqua.
"Let's do this, girls." Lee said to her sisters.
Then, the Lotus Ninjas jumped and hovered airborne in different direction. They all unleashed a synchronized strike with air, fire, water, and earth that drove Aqua to the ground.
Irma and Aaliyah cheered for the Lotus Ninjas' victory.
Aqua struggled to get up on her feet. She then looked up at the Lotus Ninjas, who were glaring around her.
"What? You've beaten me, are you proud?" Aqua retorted with irritation on her face.
"Don't worry, we got something special for you." Ellie grinned. Her eyes moved to the smirking Donna. "Donna, if you please."
Donna crouched down in front of Aqua and her irises glowed deep purple.
"Kioku shōkyo: the location of our home." Donna casted.
Aqua stared right into Donna's glowing eyes. Her eyes glowed deep purple as well, causing her to fall asleep.
Donna then enveloped the sleeping Aqua with purple energy and levitated her in midair.
"Terepōtoauto." Donna casted.
Aqua's body glowed deep purple and she then disappeared out of the fortress.
"What did you do to her?" Aaliyah asked as she and Irma walked from behind the couch.
"I just gave her a dose of memory loss and sent her away." Donna answered. "She won't even remember anything. Not even our home, for that matter."
"Well, I'm glad that's over." Ella said.
"You and me both." Lee agreed. "Let's never speak of this to mother when she gets back from her cafe."
"Agreed." Ella, Donna, Ellie, Irma, and Aaliyah concurred.
"Now, let's eat pizza." Aaliyah said. "I'm glad Donna managed to duplicate more boxes before the Truth or Dare."
"Now that you mention it, I got a dare." Ellie said with a mischievous grin. "I dare all of us, except for Lee, to head to the kitchen and eat all the desserts we want in the fridge."
Donna, Irma, and Aaliyah cheered as they quickly ran straight into the kitchen.
"I'm more of a spicy lover." Ella said with a shrug. "But I'll make it an exception."
Ella then sped into the kitchen.
"What?! Hey! Wait a minute!" Lee shouted. "Don't eat them! They are limited edition sweets that I will never find them again!"
Lee hurried into the kitchen.
Elsewhere, a group of four feminine figures joined hands in line as they floated into the air under surging black mystical energy. They all wore full-body black armor with a Shadow Clan symbol on the chest area. They also had wide-brimmed black weimao hat with a black hanging shoulder-length veil.
"At last, the enemies' hideout is finally been located." The leader spoke. "Must inform our mistress at once."
"Indeed." The other three figures agreed.
The quartet looked up at the sky with sinister smiles.
