A bit of a shorter chapter this time but it's fine it's posted on time is what's important.

thewittywhy: the biggest mystery. To me as well.
That, would be very funny. It'd be funny as a bit but I don't see it being a permanent name

Zeromaru38: You. You are so smart and correct.

Desolatedsabers: Golden Star might be neat considering the school is called Orange Star, though for that same reason she probably wouldn't go for it.
And I actually do explain the Miracles thing in the chapter lol, by coincidence. It's, not my favorite crest. It's Deus ex Machina personified and it probably wouldn't bother me as much if it wasn't literally just used once because they couldn't figure out how to beat Chimeramon otherwise. Also that one other movie that I've honestly never watched the original version of, just the one that was cut down severely for the English dub movie.

KalAeon: I liked the Saiyaman shenanigans... Gohan gets to act like a kid for once in his life.
And man, I've had, many thoughts about SIGohan's high school life, and now I'm just really afraid of forgetting something and only realizing it too late. Or getting to a scene and a plan not working out and having to scrap it.

Boosted Knees: lol that would be funny too

OthershoreAsura: yes she has tried to teach the other kids flight, though the only ones who made much headway were Pigero and Ena. And yes I do have a future love interest planned, and no it is not Videl.

JCINNABAR: Thanks ^.^

Arkon: That would be fun lol, I'd just have to find the appropriate excuse

Nevermourned: Honestly, I do kinda disagree with just, teaching the masses how to use Ki. Like, imagine those same bandits but instead of guns they could just Ki blast everything. And it's not like there any amount of Ki the average joe could learn to be able to do anything towards any real threats in this franchise

"Something to do with hope maybe? I dunno I keep wanting to default back to Seraph or something like that. But it seems kinda- I dunno."

Chico and I walked down the hall to class. I paused along the way to make note of another fire alarm. I tapped it just barely long enough to leave an imprint of my Ki. Just in case.

"Why'd you even choose Hope anyway? Why not Courage or Light or- any of the other ones there are a lot."

"I don't know. Some symbolic whatever. Also, I liked the yellow against the purple over most of the outfit."

"Wasn't there another yellow or gold one?"

My lip curled in displeasure, "yeah. Miracles. Which, absolutely not. That's just- way too on the nose. Besides, it's a wasted concept in the show to boot."

We walked into the classroom and focused the conversation back on just the name.

A few have popped up in the rumor circulation but not any that sounded particularly appealing.

"But seriously, help me come up with something better. Like, there's gotta be something better than just, Vigilante. A or the or otherwise."

"Maybe you should just step away from the hope thing entirely? Kinda limiting the naming schemes. With that it's either going to be really cheesy or-"

"What are you guys talking about?" Chico and I looked up at Erasa sitting with her arms leaned against the back of her seat.

"You know you're supposed to wait until someone's finished a sentence before talking," Chico said dully.

"Oops! Sorry!"

"We're talking about names for the," I sighed, "vigilante, from yesterday. Seems kinda lame to just call them that."

"Oh? Whatchya got so far?" Erasa leaned forward and now Videl and Sharpener were looking back too.

"No much really. Mostly hope based, but not literally "hope" because that's kinda lame. I keep leaning towards like, Seraph or something but I don't know. Others that are related to the crest are," I pulled out a piece of paper that I'd written on last night, "Bullmon, Greatest Cutemon, kinda, Holy, or Magna Angemon, Knightmon, kinda. Pegasusmon, Stagittarimon, and one of the Shoutmon forms. The only ones of those that might work are like, Knight…maybe Pegasusmon but, no that doesn't work…"

The other three blinked at me.

"Man, what?" Sharpener eventually asked, squinting.

"Oh, right. The Crest of Hope. You know, the thing stitched onto their back," pictures have been circling around so it's not like that shouldn't be new information, "It's from Digimon. Those are Digimon that have the crest associated. Well, there are a few others but those ones have the crest visible on them."

The blinking resumed.

Erasa typed on her phone.

Surprisingly, she found that the crest of hope from Digimon does, in fact, look exactly like the crest of hope I stitched onto the back.

Who'd a thunk it.

"Ok, that's obviously the same symbol, I'll give you that, but don't you think it's more likely that they just found the symbol online and liked the meaning?" She asked.

"I mean, if you're gonna choose a symbol I think it'd be from something you like. At least that's what I'd do," I glanced over at Chico who seemed rather amused and entirely unhelpful.

"Nah man. That dude's a superhero. No way he or she is some nerd. Probably wouldn't even have the time."

"To be fair, if it is based on Digimon, it's totally possible it's just something they liked as a kid or something," Erasa said.

"We've gotten off topic here," Chico finally interrupted, "we're trying to come up with names."

"Here, I'll just post the two starting ideas you came up with and the whole Digimon thing online. Knight, and, what was the other one?"

"I just kept going back to Seraph. Based off of Serraphimon."

"Right, ok. If we can't come up with anything, I'm sure the populous can."

I saw mischief sparkle in Chico's eyes as she glanced over at Videl, "how about something playing off of Mr. Satan? This is Satan City after all. Maybe Dr- something, since that's gender neutral."

Videl scoffed, "I doubt someone playing superhero would name themselves after my dad. That's just asking for trouble."

Luckily, The largely unhelpful conversation was cut off by the teacher's arrival.

You know, it's absolutely wild to hear about the history in this world. Like, it feels so weird to hear a teacher talk about the whole, Demon King Piccolo thing.

It was even more wild to hear the name "Son Goku" in class. Mentioned both in his confirmation to have beaten the Demon King, and it being rumored that he demolished the original Red Ribbon Army.

Today it seemed he was just giving a general overview considering how quickly he was going through events.

"-and while there have been more recent suspected sightings of the Demon King, such as one of the standby fighters at the Cell Games, the last confirmed activity was that of the 23rd World Tournament."

I frowned and raised my hand. After a few seconds, I was called on.

"That's, not true. That was the Demon King's son, who just also uses the name Piccolo. They barely even look alike."

The teacher frowned.

"That is an interesting theory, but unless you have a substantial source for that claim perhaps keep it to the internet boards. Must be a popular theory though, This is the second year in a row someone has made such a claim."

I frowned but didn't say anything further. I glanced over at Chico, a silent question about the teacher's second question.

"Rom had this class last year," she whispered.

I hummed in acknowledgment as the teacher was once again speaking.

Midway through Videl's watch started beeping. And right in the middle of class, she answered it as it turned out to be a distress call about a bus highjacking.

She barely asked permission to leave as she ran out the door.

Well gosh golly I just so happen to have to use the restroom.

Just one several miles away.

I ran up to the roof and triple-checked that no one was around before changing the outfit and following Videl's Ki signature, which was quite distinctive, help further by the fact that she was traveling quickly, assumably by Jetcopter.

It didn't take long to catch up and I kept just out of sight of Videl's copter as I followed along.

The bus before the hijacking was completely full of old people who apparently had very few self-preservation skills.

I kept an eye as the apparent main highjacker tried to shoot at her copter, but she was, absurdly good at dodging with that thing.

I loitered closer as she jumped from the copter on the top of the bus, apparently leaving her previous vehicle on autopilot, and almost jumped in when the dude tried shooting through the roof.

I wasn't, really sure when to jump in. Because you all accounts, Videl seemed to have this under control. Sure the guns were concerning, but that was only if they were able to get a clear shot which Videl just did not allow.

And as Videl won three to one much bigger opponents without a scratch, I took a moment to appreciate how actually terrifying she would be in any show without the prefix Dragon Ball.

And then I noticed the bus hurling itself towards a cliff.

Ah, that was the one downfall to Videl at the moment. She still couldn't fly.

So I darted forward to catch the bus as it went over the edge much like I did the bank driver's car from yesterday.

I placed the bus back on the cliff and a moment later the people started milling out. Starting with Videl herself.

"How did you do that?" She demanded.

"Well, I caught it. You're welcome."

Videl scowled, "how did you catch it? It's one thing to be able to make yourself fly somehow, but an entire bus? How'd you do it?"

"Ah, trade secret."

This only made Videl scowl more.

While true Mr. Satan stopped saying everything was just tricks, he didn't say anything against it either, so that remained the prevalent, and frankly, more realistic theory. The man obviously didn't correct his daughter on this either.

One of the little old ladies approached us, "oh you were wonderful Videl," she stated, "of course you always are but that's besides the point. And you too young lady, I don't know how you stopped us from falling but the little details don't matter at the end of the day."

Videl accepted the compliment.

I felt heat rush to my cheeks. "Ah, heh, I barely did anything. It's fine." I rubbed the back of my leg with the opposite foot.

Still, it was hard to keep a smile away as she walked away, yeah, this was definitely a good plan.

A few moments later an old man had taken the lady's place, also giving praise.

"-and a fine young man you've found to be your little sidekick too."

It's funny, just how much the wrong pronoun seemed to cut the compliment. I couldn't care less about the sidekick comment. I did do less than she did and she's been here longer so, it was totally fair, at least for now.

"Ah, thanks," I said anyway.

Videl seemed to catch the disparity between responses.

She seemed to consider the two statements before coming to a conclusion, "so it's she/her then?"

"Huh?" I took a step back.

"Well, unless you're upset by the sidekick comment, that's the only real difference between the two."

"I-" that's, not good. Videl has to find out I'm me eventually, but she also has to interact with the main cast at some point. Probably.

But it's been too long now for any real denial. My hesitation is probably suspicious in of itself.

Oh well, I'll deal with that when I deal with it.

"Ah, yeah. I kinda wanted to keep the whole androgynous thing but I guess that didn't work out. Ah, look at the time, gotta go!"

And with that, I darted back to school. Making it back to class long before Videl, but still having been gone far too long for it not to be suspicious.

It was only as Videl reentered the class several minutes later that I had to fight the urge to face palm.

I forgot to ask her for any name ideas darn it.

The three were talking about the encounter in between classes.

"So did you get their name?" Erasa asked.

"No, I completely forgot to ask. I did find out she prefers female pronouns, seemed pretty dodgy about it though so maybe don't spread that around."

Great. Oh well, it's not like I intend for those two to find out anytime soon anyway.

Home life was, same-y.

I got home, got bugged about my homework in a way that made me absolutely not want to do it, and just kinda, hung out doing whatever.

Goten though, seemed elated by the idea of me being a superhero, saying that he wanted to be one too.

And what can I say? He's a cute kid. Admittedly I did kinda, intentionally spend more time around Pigero's gang when he was a baby because, crying babies are the worst, but by the time he got to 3-4 he was pretty solidified as a cute kid.

"Hey Gohan, I have a question," he said.

"Yeah?"

Goten stood there, shifting on his feet, "…I forgot never mind," he ran off into his room.

…ok then.

I shrugged it off and retreated to my own room. He was a weird kid too, though most kids were weird.

Apart from the prospect of messing with Videl, school was mostly boring. Which wasn't really surprising I guess but still. The days were spent in classes and lunches on the roof. Occasionally Videl's watch would beep and while she got a free pass out of class I'd have to start coming up with a better excuse than just bathroom.

Or at least find a doctor's note. Maybe asking Bulma. She counted as a Doctor, just not a medical one.

Luckily in that aspect this time it was after school that I saw a building on fire.

Luckily being a relative term.

Videl proved herself to have no self preservation instincts as she jumped to the roof from her jetcopter.

By the time I'd gotten there, Videl was in the midst of trying to turn a valve in order to assumably release the water onto the building.

And also it almost fell on her. It is a very good thing I was here to catch it.

This was twice in one week now, how has she not died before?

"There's enough water in that tank to put out the fire, but by now even if you open it the release valve won't be able to release it all in time."

"Is that so?" Righted the tank. And then punched a hole through it. And then several more, opting to tear a few of them open further than the punch would itself.

And man, I knew those things could hold a lot of water, but this seemed excessive. Like, did it have some kind of capsule tech hidden in there? Because I could not see how there was this much water in there otherwise. I thought Videl was exaggerating when she said it'd be able to put the water out but no. It did. I do not understand-

"So what's your name anyway?"

I was interrupted from my confusion by Videl's question. She was looking at me in that way that wasn't quite a glare but wasn't exactly far off either.

I sighed, "I don't know. I haven't come up with anything yet."

Videl considered that and didn't even bother trying to get my real name beyond a statement of "that wasn't what I meant," as that was obviously a moot point.

"Some kids in my class were saying something about Seraph-ie or something."

"Like Serraphimon? Yeah…I guess…but I dunno. Do I even need a name? It doesn't seem that important."

"…so the Digimon thing was intentional…?"

"Yeah, obviously," I tapped on the goggles.

"…right. Well, guess you don't need a different name. Just let the media come up with something themselves, that never goes wrong."

I resisted the urge to whine at the thought.

"Whatever," I sighed, "I'll come up with something, probably."

With barely a goodbye I took off.

Maybe I'll ask Goten if he had any ideas.
