Chapter 11
In Melromarc
As Aultcray slowly made his way back home with his remaining forces. He continued to think of how to speak with his wife about the situation. As his unit traversed back to the capital in an attempt to prepare for the return of the heroes. He was shocked to no longer find his kingdom the way it used to be.
"Commander, what am I seeing?" Aultcray asked.
"P-Penguins?" the commander stuttered as he looked through a spyglass.
Aultcray had to be sure of the absurdity that he was witnessing. When he took the spyglass away from his commander, he looked all around the town. Instead of the busy streets of citizens and occasional military patrols to keep his people secured. He found an army of green penguins moving all around the kingdom. Like any normal curious animal, the penguins were moving around minding their business.
However, the concern Aultcray had is not being able to see his people or the guards. Sure these were harmless animals in his concern, but this made no sense.
"Double time! We must return to the castle immediately!" Aultcray commanded.
As the army marched, the penguins suddenly turned to face the incoming military unit. Suddenly a smaller more natural colored penguin came stumbling out from the crowd of green penguins. The main looked normal, but wore a strange magical amulet over it's body. The penguin then let out a loud scream as if it were a war cry.
"FWAP!" it screamed.
Suddenly every green penguin conjured up swords and began to charge against the incoming army. Now seeing the penguins as a real threat. Aultcray raised up his weapon as he lead his army into the fray. Not realizing that his small force was suddenly surrounded by the larger penguin force. With many more appearing and boxing in the knights as the penguin army began to crush them with their heavier numbers.
By the end, Aultcray looked bloody and barely conscious as his body was dragged into the castle. Along with the other foolish knights who sided with him. Soon enough, a black slime hybrid appeared and watched from a distance as it studied the invading penguin army.
'Damn.' the creature thought as it snuck it's way to the castle.
Soon enough, the Spear and Bow Hero's parties arrived.
"Finally, we're back!" Motoyasu yelled.
"I think we might have to push back celebrations." Itsuki said. "Because the capital is in trouble." he added as everyone saw the penguin army.
Motoyasu sighed as he raised his spear, "The hardships never end, but that's what it means to be a hero right? Overcoming obstacles?" he asked as if he were a tired legendary hero.
The fools would end up getting crushed by the penguin army so their little bravado would be forgotten real soon.
Back in Konoha
After Vali was beaten up by the princess of the Land of Dragons. The meeting started off as if nothing had occurred. Though they would have to bring up the topic of Vali fathering an egg and likely being punished for child abandonment. For now, Princess Kazumi was staying calm and collected while Vali was rubbing the lumps on his body.
"Why do I deserve this?" Vali asked.
"Are you really asking that question?" Alucard asked. "You are quite the bachelor, I thought you would be more cautious than this. I wonder how Miss Arachne will react." he said.
"I guess we're all dads then?" Vali asked.
"Not if Momon gets her hands on you." Naruto said as Vali paled. "Should have tried using protection or at least learn self restraint." he said.
"You don't have to rub it in." Vali said.
By this point, the main topics of the council were all finished. Vali attempted to move but Kazumi would suddenly turn her head to Vali, forcing him to stay seated. Almost as if she had some level of psychokinesis that forced Vali to remain immobile. Forcing the young man to stay until Kazumi's faction would begin deliberation and start talking with the emperors on how to handle the situation.
This is one of those moments that could turn into war if not handled properly. As the only members of Konoha's governing board that stayed behind was Minato and Jiraiya as to help keep the talks peaceful. Luckily it looked like Alucard and Naruto were very open to keeping the peace and deal with their brother figure for running out after having a one night stand with a princess. So it didn't matter if Kazumi was really dressed like an exotic dancer, Vali still had a responsibility that he forced onto himself.
"So is this an alimony thing or…" Vali said before Alucard elbowed him.
"We will allow you to speak first, princess." Alucard said.
Kazumi cleared her throat, "Seeing as this act was with consent, I hold no ill will towards your people. However, I expected much more tact from Emperor Vali. Especially being a ruler with great responsibility." she said.
"And you are requesting a marriage treaty then?" Naruto asked as he could already tell how this is going to go.
"To put it bluntly, yes." Kazumi said. Vali tried to run again, "Stay put." she commanded.
The men could suddenly hear the sound of a whiplash. As if that was some sort of metaphor about Vali's situation.
"Sounds reasonable." Naruto said, also sounding blunt.
"I got money. All of it is personal funds too." Vali spoke up.
"Good, that will help further provide for your son." Kazumi said.
'Not what I meant.' Vali thought, failing to weasel out of his situation again.
"As we are both royalty and rulers, this would only strengthen the bonds between both nations. As well as helping my heir become a stronger and more competent ruler." Kazumi explained as she gestured to her egg.
"Also reasonable." Alucard said in agreement.
'I am so lost.' Licht thought nervously as he was still in the room.
By this point, Momon just kicked opened the doors. Vali immediately tried to duck under the desk before Naruto dragged him up by the collar. The elderly woman looked very pissed off as if she already knew what was going on. Only to calm down and greet Kazumi.
"Hello Princess, how are you today? A little birdie told me the big news." Momon asked.
"Yes, very big news." Kazumi confirmed as Momon saw the egg.
"Congratulations! Now where's my idiotic adoptive grandson?" Momon asked.
Naruto held Vali up by his collar, "Traitor." he silver haired man said.
"Again, this is your own fault." Naruto told him.
That's when Momon snapped her fingers and a large orc came in with a pair of nunchucks. Only instead of the typical handles that the weapon usually caries. They were replaced by a pair of large gloves made of a hardened material. The orc then proceeded to perform amazing skills with the nunchucks as he prepared to hit Vali.
"This looks nice." Minato commented.
"This is the fun part." Alucard said before the orc stopped.
The orc then proceeded to slap Vali with the nunchucks a few times until he fell out of his seat.
"So when would you like to have the wedding?" Momon asked the female dragonoid.
"I need a painkiller." Vali said in a whispery voice.
"Just walk it off you panzie!" Momon yelled before Vali lost consciousness.
"Is this the penalty for child abandonment?" Licht asked.
"Depends on which territory it takes place." Naruto answered.
Minato sighed, "Can't I have a normal meeting for once?" he asked.
A while later, with Team 7
With the meeting over and a political marriage agreement draft being made. That left the genin to prepare for a new mission as their sensei came in. Though it would be difficult to explain the new situation to Kakashi and the whole party system they were forced into. Jiraiya already heard the news and thought it was a good way for Arashi to get a harem and the same for Sasuke. Of course, Kushina and Mikoto threatened to harm the perverted sage.
Jiraiya tried to use the excuse that they could have unique hybrid grandchildren. Except the two women used their strong wills to fight against the thought. Though on Jiraiya's part, he wasn't a fan of Sora and Luna on the account that their slow aging left them looking like children. It didn't stop him from saying anything about the female dragons.
Then again, there's also the fact that Princess Kazumi is here and also wishes to see the dragons that were now stuck here. She was fair, but also had to make some decisions despite Naruto and Konoha itself being okay with whatever she had to say.
"You three can stay." Kazumi said.
"WHAT!?" the three dragons asked.
"It is as I said, besides I have already done background checks on you three." Kazumi said as she was given a file by a servant. Then two of the dragons looked nervous, "Let's start with the "Guard Dog" that's been harassing citizens who were crossing between bridges." she said.
Tania started to shrink, "T-That was a misunderstanding!" she said.
Kazumi continued with the next file, "Let's not ignore the delinquent behaviors of "The Invincible Shin"." she said.
"Hey, whatever they said about me. That was a total lie!" Tomoe argued.
"You question the civil servants who maintain the peace and report directly to me?" Kazumi asked making Tomoe clam up. "They say the government must represent the people, but I feel that my subordinates represent me. Therefore, you are calling me a liar." she said.
"Wait, I didn't mean it like that! The other dragons just like to say things behind my back!" Tomoe said in a pleading tone.
"Overall, it seems that you two tend to seek out fights whenever a strong individual appears. I think there's a report of an illegal fight club here." Kazumi said ignoring the begging and pleading.
"Your highness, I am not associated with these two! So please forgive me for losing my mind!" Tio pleaded.
Kazumi looked at Tio's profile, "Very well." she said.
"Eh?" Tio asked.
"Though I think you should stay here with your new companions. I do not wish to discriminate, but this is a security issue and I am close friends with Emperor Uzumaki." Kazumi explained. "Therefore, you can stay and be tested as to avoid any potential issues. As for the other two, they can consider this to be community service." she explained.
"Your highness!" Tania and Tomoe cried out.
"No arguments, we are in a time of crisis and alliances have to be held strong. So consider this as a way of connecting between nations." Kazumi explained.
Tio looked unsure as she pointed at herself, "But I'm not a soldier." she said.
"Neither are we." Tomoe said as she pointed at herself and Tania
"Then consider yourselves drafted and ready for emergency service." Kazumi said making them pale. "Do not worry, they work like adventuring guilds. That should ease you of your stress." Kazumi said as she put her documents away.
"Can I at least be put in the reserves?" Tania asked.
"All hands on deck, as they say. Good day to you all." Kazumi said.
"Your highness…"
"I said, good day!" Kazumi said silencing them.
With the princess gone to having taken care of her egg. Arashi and Mito approached their respective party members.
"Well that went well." Arashi said.
"We got drafted." Tania said as she cried anime tears.
"I don't even enjoy conflict." Tio complained. "Oh well, better meet my gothic teammate." she said.
"Sasuke's not a goth, he's emo." Arashi said.
Mito sighed, "Sasuke is not… wait, is he?" she asked. "Whatever, maybe tou-san has a mission. I'm feeling really bored just standing and waiting around." she said.
"I could use some excitement." Arashi said with a shrug.
A few minutes later
Kakashi sighed as he saw his genin, "I'm not sure if this large group is allowed." he said.
"Onii-san forced this on us sensei." Mito reminded them.
"Let's see what the Hokage says." Kakashi said as they entered Minato's office.
"Good, Team 7 you're here." Minato said. "Actually, good timing too. This mission I have ready is already pretty high ranking and it might be a good time to try out that party system I was told about." he explained.
Kakashi sweat dropped, "Is the risk necessary Hokage-sama?" he asked.
"Naruto-san pretty much turned this team into a company by this point." Sasuke said as he marked the genin as three squads in one team."Sasuke said.
"And Tio gives me the creeps." Sakura commented.
Minato wanted to be optimistic, "Consider it a redemption. You know, another chance for a field promotion." He said.
"Very well, what's the mission?" Kakashi asked.
"You will be guarding an actress who will be filming in a special location you've been before Kakashi. You might want to take lots of time to prepare." Minato explained.
"So where are we heading?" Arashi asked.
Meanwhile, at Melromarc
The penguins had pretty much kept the capital under lockdown. Ironically, it wasn't out spite or demand to control humans living in the kingdom. It was even more strange to see that the leader penguin actually had great knowledge to the point it could communicate with Queen Mirellia. Who was already preparing to lead her forces against the Spirit Tortoise.
"And you said your name is Gunter, is that correct?" Mirellia asked.
"Fwap." Gunter answered.
"What is the reason for your arrival, if you do not mind me asking?" Mirellia asked.
"Fwap fwap, fwaaaap." Gunter said with a salute.
"Patriotism? I wasn't aware you are an ally of the kingdom or our armed forces." Mirellia said as penguins are not naturally from this region of the world.
"Fwap, fwap fwap fwap." Gunter said before saluting.
"I think… I understand." Mirellia said awkwardly.
Gunter then jumped and turned around, "Fwap fwap! Fwap fwap!" he said.
Suddenly his little clones started dragging in the Spear and Bow Heroes. Mirellia couldn't help but feel disappointed and confused by how messy things became. Maybe there should have been someone to handle the summoning of the heroes. Maybe create a seal or something to prevent another disaster like this when handling powerful yet sensitive magic.
"At least you seem reasonable Sir Gunter." Mirellia said.
Gunter nodded, "Fwap." he said before approaching the heroes. Where he proceeded to slap them, "FWAP FWAP!" He yelled as he hits them
"Hey!"
"Ouch!"
The two complained as Gunter proceeded to beat them. Eventually, the two stood up as to avoid Gunter's physical abuse. As funny as this was for anyone else, Mirellia really needed to get their act together.
"That is enough Sir Gunter." Mirellia said.
"Fwap." Gunter said as he stepped to the side.
"Seriously your majesty, was it really necessary for you to hire penguins to…" Itsuki said before realizing Aultcray was gone.
"Whatever my foolish husband has allowed you to do, it ends now." Mirellia said as she wasn't going to give them free stuff anymore.
Motoyasu smiled as he bowed his head, "So you must be the queen. Nice to meet you your highness, though I think you might have gotten the wrong message after we escaped prison." he started to say as he discreetly eyed the queen.
Motoyasu's womanizing ways were not something he would let go of. Especially how beautiful Mirellia is compared to her daughter. Assuming Mirellia wasn't forced to sire Malty at a very young age like most royals and nobles. Mirellia did take good care of herself for a woman her age.
"So you say and yet you have followed my daughter's whims and even attacked a foreign land in a foreign realm. Which I might add, is out of your jurisdiction." Mirellia said.
Motoyasu thought he had it under control, "Your highness, now things may sound wrong, but in actuality. Itsuki was trying to stop a rebellion of anarchists." he said.
"Do you take me for a fool Spear Hero?" Mirellia asked.
"No." Motoyasu bluntly answered.
"Because I have communicated with these leaders. One of which was leading a rebellion against a fascist government with a genocidal doctrine." Mirellia said.
Motoyasu turned to Itsuki, "Wait, is that true?" he asked.
Itsuki shoved Motoyasu aside, "Your majesty, I admit that maybe some actions were not our best decisions. However, I know as heroes we are meant to do good despite public opinion. We're here to save the people, not give autographs." he said.
"It's still fun to give them out." Motoyasu added.
"The point is, that we were entrusted by your husband, the king. That as the Cardinal Heroes, we would save the world from the threat of the monsters coming from the Waves. Any day now, they're going to start again and so long as we have these weapons…" Itsuki said as he tried to reach for his bow.
Unfortunately, the cardinal weapon is currently NOT on his body. This goes the same for Motoyasu who checked his pockets and the floor. Itsuki felt like the world was trying to mess with him by purposely making his weapon disappear. However, while the weapons can be moved to another part of the body. They can never be taken away from the physical user as they are bound to the respective heroes.
"Where are your weapons?" Mirellia asked.
"Uh… I think they're still in the dungeon." Motoyasu said.
"How would that be possible? Your weapons are always bound to you until death or the completion of your duties." Mirellia asked as they kept looking.
"Itsuki, something's wrong." Motoyasu said.
"You think!? I had this whole speech planned out and now it's pointless!" Itsuki said as he kept looking.
"I ask again, where are your weapons!?" Mirellia asked sounding more angry by the minute.
"FWAP! Fwap fwap fwap!" Gunter shouted.
Suddenly his clones held down the idiots and started searching their bodies. When they came up empty, the clones scrambled out of the room and started searching elsewhere. Gunter looked very concerned as he started looking behind the pillars and under the furniture. With Mirellia covering the lower part of her face to hide her ire and concern.
"Fwap. Fwap. Fwap." Gunter said as he moved around while holding his temples.
"Gunter, please tell me you can find those weapons." Mirellia said but Gunter tried to hide his fear.
"Fwap?" Gunter asked.
"Oh dear." Mirellia said as hit her head with her fan.
Gunter then looked angry and let out a screech. Causing his present clones to beat up the heroes for somehow losing their weapons. Gunter then personally jumped on top of the pile and started slapping the pair for being so incompetent.
By this point, all of the Gunter clones were tearing apart the castle and the gardens. Gunter may seem like a simple minded bird, but apparently he had great intelligence. As his anxiety reached high levels knowing that the idiots that Aultcray put so much faith in, have lost the most powerful weapons meant not just to protect Melromarc, but the five kingdoms. This is only worsened by the fact that the other kingdoms were meant to obtains the heroes first.
now there was even more reason to start a war.
"Fwap." Gunther said before flopping down onto the floor.
Mirellia sighed, "I must be the second worst monarch in the kingdom." she said partially blaming herself.
Once again, no one noticed the slime hybrid that was crawling around the windows and peering inside before attempting to seek entry.
In Rabbi Village, with Naofumi
In some Hot Spring town managed by rabbit demi-humans, Noafumi suddenly had an ample amount of stress. He was feeling relaxed but now it felt like a giant weight fell on his head.
"I feel like some stupid crap is happening right now and I'm going to get dragged into it." Naofumi said.
"What are you? The Stressed Hero?" Seiya asked.
"Weren't you supposed to go on your own separate path? What are you even doing here?" Naofumi asked.
"It occurred to me that despite the problems. I might find that Useless Goddess around here." Seiya answered.
"It sounds like you want nothing to do with her. Why are you looking for her?" Naofumi asked.
"If you really have to know. She's the only person I can guarantee that won't poison me. Then again, what if she's being tortured and manipulated into poisoning my dinner when she sees me again?" Seiya asked as his paranoia kicked in.
"I'm getting out." Naofumi asked as he left the hot springs he was in.
Seiya only felt more suspicious, "I should double check the food here. Those rabbits act too stupid to be innocent." he said thinking he might be poisoned.
Mash looked uncomfortable, "Seiya, are we really going to question someone else's generosity? Rabbi village seems nice." he said.
"Did you literally forget that your friend almost turned into a sword?" Seiya asked.
Mash sighed, that much is true. They were welcomed into a secret village run by dragonic people. Who immediately tried to paralyze Seiya and the party so that they could sacrifice Ilulu without the fear of anyone stopping them. Seiya saw through this since he openly claimed that he only has faith in Rista when it comes to handling his food.
"Besides, even if Rista can't do much. She's a goddess and therefore harder to catch than a fish." Seiya said.
"Yeah, I wasn't too worried up until you said it like that now." Mash said.
In Konoha, a few days later
With Team 7 and company gone, that left Kushina with having to adjust for other guests. Despite being the Hokage's wife, she was not just a figure to help maintain a photogenic looking family. Though she's not really a fan of politics either, she decided to help accommodate the royal guests. More so, it just felt really funny to hear what happened to Vali despite how serious this situation happened.
It looks like the motherhood assocation or whatever the group of Konoha's mother group was setting up yet again at the mansion. By this point, Minato already set up his own path to his home to avoid the occasional party being set up at the front of his home.
"I swear, how can someone with such a high rank and status screw up that badly?" Kushina asked as she finished setting up for her guests.
"Vali is not very cautious when it comes to the lifestyle of a bachelor." Yasaka said. "Only now, I never expected him to be this reckless. No offense, Kazumi-dono." she said.
"Think nothing of it Yasaka. Also, please refrain from titles. We're close friends are we not?" Kazumi asked as her friendship with Naruto extended to the man's wife.
"That we are, but it would be improper." Yasaka said.
"Perhaps in the world of politics. Though I can see there are times to relax and enjoy the family life." Kazumi said as she noticed the fox twins. "The little ones are very adorable. I can say the same for your sister as well." she said as she saw Hinata and Naegi sleeping in a separate baby pen.
"Everyone is blessed with life as of now. It seems that this random crisis is pushing for everyone to remain strong." Yasaka said.
"That much is true." Kazumi said as she looked at her egg. "If only Vali had the mental strength to be a proper parent." she said.
"I'm sure mama Momon will find him and drag him back." Kushina said while ignoring the sudden appearance a giant robot that was patrolling the streets. "Does anyone want sweets?" she asked as she pulled out a plate of treats.
Not even caring about the giant machine outside of her front lawn and Kushina is only focusing on maintaining company. Just as more guests arrived, Naruto quickly came out of the mansion.
"Everyone, I'll be stepping out. Another emergency has come up." Naruto said.
"How bad?" Kushina asked with concern.
"Just some security confirmation and other business. It's probably not too bad, but it's a part of the procedures I agreed on with the village." Naruto explained.
"Okay." Kushina said, sounding lost by all of that detail.
"Be careful dear." Yasaka said as she hugged her husband.
"I will, besides you have Kunou to take care of you." Naruto jokes.
Yasaka smiles as she kisses him, "Safe travels then." she said.
"I will." Naruto said before looking at two guards. "Stay focused you two." he said.
With that, Naruto left the mansion grounds with a few of Souei's unit following him.
"You ever feel concerned for him Yasaka?" Kazumi asked.
"Often, but I learn to suppress it. What sort of spouse does not try to have faith her significant other?" Yasaka answered as Kushina smiled.
"Ah!" Ichigo squealed.
"Come here you." Kushina said as she picked up her grandson.
Meanwhile, in Yuki no Kuni
Team 7 and party finally arrived at the film shooting location. Only after having dealt with some stressful events in regards to dealing with the actress. Arashi and most of the girls just said that it was a typical meltdown for a celebrity. It only required minimal resistance followed by dragging the individual in question. How is it that a famous actress like Yukie Fujikaze is so sweet and amazing on screen but acts like the worst aspect of humanity in reality?
"Okay, I want to leave. Fairies are not meant for the cold and drama queens." Luna complained.
"I second that. Not about the first part." Tania said.
"Just let the woman complain about how much her life full of wealth, attention and stress for the wrong reasons sucks. We'll get paid afterwards." Mito said.
"Wait, we get paid?" Luna asked.
"I do." Mito answered.
"Jerk." Luna commented.
"You'll be compensated with a sack of potatoes." Arashi said.
"That doesn't sound like a reward." Tomoe commented.
As the group spoke, the film crew already set up to continue their work. As Yukie was forced to continue working the next part of her movie. A couple of individuals had popped out of the snow. Yukie looked terrified as if this was not a part of the film, but a couple of crew members continued to film as if this was some sort of sudden improv acting.
"So you've finally returned home to Yuki no Kuni, princess." the leader of the group said. "There was word that you would never want to return. Yet here you are and with the key to the treasure of your father no doubt." he added.
As some sort of tension was building up, Team 7 minus Kakashi were distracted by their conversation.
"Why would anyone want potatoes as a reward?" Tomoe asked.
Arashi shrugged, "Potassium?" he asked.
"That's bananas." Tomoe told him.
"Then we can trade the potatoes for bananas." Arashi said.
Suddenly a cameraman focused on them, "This conversation alone is worth a lot of money." he whispered.
"What are you doing? You should be filming the villain!" The director yelled.
"That's a villain, but not an actor! Get back on the boat!" Kakashi ordered.
"Hold on, if you three are on probation but kids are just here for the ride. Then only the kids can only be eligible for pay." Sasuke said.
"We're not kids! We're fairies!" Luna argued.
"We have long lifespans, so physical adulthood is still a long ways away." Sora said.
By this point, the attackers already created an avalanche. With their leader already making their way down to capture Yukie.
"Everyone, back on the boat!" Kakashi repeated.
"I have you now!" the leader yelled as he aimed for Yukie.
Only to be surprised by Tomoe suddenly appearing in front of him. Where the dragon proceeded to kick the shinobi hard enough to send him back up the mountain.
"Now really does seem like a good time to leave. We can worry about who deserves to be paid later." Tomoe said.
"Agreed!" everyone said.
"Sora, Luna, you two try to generate a barrier while we get ready to sail off!" Mito said as she helped the crew onboard.
"I'm good mage as well!" Tio said as she helped erect a barrier to slow down the avalanche.
Soon enough, the crew was already onboard. With the avalanche still being too far to reach the boat and the snow ninja being unable to move past the barrier. Sasuke dragged Tio onboard while Arashi lifted Luna and Sora over his shoulders before running onto the boat.
"I guess this is better than babysitting." Arashi said.
"Yeah it is! This is the action I wanted!" Luna said in agreement.
"Luna, danger is not always meant to be a part of the plan!" Sora argued.
"Too bad! Expect the unexpected and vice versa!" Luna replied.
"That last part doesn't even make any sense!" Sora said by the time they were onboard.
"Kakashi sensei, who were they?" Sakura sked.
"Snow ninja, they work for the current ruler of Yuki no kuni." Kakashi answered. "This was all planned out and we put the client in harms way while some of you were arguing about potatoes." he said.
"Hey wait a minute, we can make french fries and other stuff with potatoes." Arashi said.
"Not now Arashi." Kakashi said. "Anyways, stay on guard. I'll help Fujikaze into her room." he said as the actress passed out from shock.
"Okay, thinking about it now. That was too sudden, what even was the reason for that attack?" Tomoe asked.
"I overheard them say something about a princess. I thought it was part of the script, but then this happened." Tio answered.
Mito crossed her arms, "I feel like we're not being told the truth again." she said.
"What does that mean?" Tio asked.
"We were on a mission to guard a bridge builder once and it turned out to be much more dangerous. I guess the actress is a lot more important than what we're told." Mito explained.
"I see, then let's beat some answers out of the lady when she wakes up." Tomoe said.
"I'll block the door in case she runs." Tania suggested.
Arashi seemed fine with the idea, "She was a bitch to us, so it might help to get some more motivation." he said.
"Arashi!" Mito yelled.
"What? This time it looks a lot more crazy than with what happened with Zabuza." Arashi replied. "Think about it, last time it was about stopping a corporate monster by moving over his legal limits. Now, it's probably something political and stuff." he explained.
"Arashi does make a good point. Though sensitive, we have to prepare for the worst." Sora said in agreement.
Sasuke looked out into the horizon. Looking out and wondering what's waiting for them next.
At the border of Hi no Kuni
Having arrived in an airship, Naruto jumped down onto the ground and met up with the local Konoha shinobi that were patrolling nearby. Along with some of the Daimyo's samurai reserve corp that were able to make it on time.
"What do you see?" Naruto asked, surprising one of the shinobi.
"W-Who are you?" they asked, surprised by Naruto's appearance. Naruto held up a document that the shinobi read, "O-Oh ok, we spotted a massive group marching this way. One of them looks like some kind of monk." The shinobi explained.
By then, one of the lizardmen had arrived and given Naruto a spyglass. Using it, Naruto frowned as he recognized Pope Balmus of the Church of the Three Heroes. Most likely one of the conspirators that worked with Aultcray to work against Naofumi. Then again it's not just him but Demi-humans too. It seems that instead of focusing on teaching about their god's love, they focus on spreading the hate to feel justified. It only left Naruto wondering what was going on.
"How many of your people are on standby?" Naruto asked.
"Just two squads of eight each. The samurai group only has a few dozen setting up around the borderline." the shinobi explained.
"Any details on reinforcements or information on local forces of the other country?" Naruto asked.
"We sent out a message a half hour ago by pigeon. No confirmation on reinforcements." the shinobi answered.
"There is also no sign of anyone from Rice Country's military." a samurai lieutenant spoke up.
Naruto pondered on this, "It looks like they're either unaware or refuse to get involved." he said. He then looked at the lizardman with him, "Have the airships spread out a bit but not far enough to avoid assisting each other if necessary." he said.
"As you wish, your majesty." the lizardman said as he flew up to the airship to give the message.
"Just who are you sir? I'm still confused by the document and you don't look like you're from around here." the shinobi asked.
"I'm an ally, one with mutual foes." Naruto answered.
As they saw Balmus and what was left of his cult following. The airships started to adjust with a couple of them unloading soldiers to prepare for the incoming battle. Despite more awkward communication between the two forces. Naruto's soldiers started to help with entrenching themselves near some hills. They could only wonder by this point as to what was driving Balmus into walking right towards Hi no Kuni's borders.
Did Balmus know about the appearance of the Four Heroes? If so, they are not here right now. That would be the only plausible reason seeing as someone as insane as this pope could not be that crazy enough to just walk in and invade another nation.
"Four hundred meters and closing sir. Do we attack first?" a lizardman asked.
"No, it's a risk but we have to see their true intentions." Naruto answered.
"True intentions sir?" the soldier asked.
"Balmus is not very stable, but even he has the capacity to think. It's only a mystery as to what he wants and what he wishes to do." Naruto explained. "And besides, my fellow emperor is already forming his own units to assist us shortly." he added.
In the distance, Alucard is leading his own small fleet of airships. All of which were preparing to charge against Balmus and his regime.
"Don't strike yet, but keep your defenses up." Naruto warned his soldiers.
By this point, some of the Konoha shinobi used earth style ninjutsu to dig up some trenches. The samurai then started to cover the front and prepared their arrows. Whereas Naruto's forces were preparing to support their allies. As eventually, Balmus came to a stop as he noticed the airships and some of the clergymen were able to detect the forces up hill.
"Ninja of this land! I am Pope Balmus, I lead the Holy Church of the Three Heroes." Balmus said introducing himself to the ninja and samurai. "I have come to remove the Devil's congregation and the filth that came with it. All which can only be purged with fire! I will be the one to spread such fire!" he announced.
"This man speaks insanity." said the samurai captain.
"Not only have you welcomed in demons and accepted them as if they were your equals. Those who bear the resemblance of animals and other monsters are creatures who live against the will of God! You will all be purged in his name!" Balmus yelled.
A shinobi nervously looked at one of the lizardmen, "Don't look at me. My aunt said that some humans reincarnate as monsters for not living full lives." The lizardman man said referring to another religious belief.
That's when two robed figures gave case to Balmus. The pope then pulled out a large golden staff and raised it over his head. Most of the forces thought it was some kind of religious idol. Instead, it started to glow as Balmus started to finish his speech.
"With the power of all three sacred cardinals weapons! I will purge you all and the devil's influence which have corrupted the four heroes!" Balmus yelled.
"Someone blow his head off already." a soldier said.
"I'm really uncomfortable. That guy sounds like my aunt when she's lit up the wrong incense on a Sunday." a shinobi said.
"Now, behold divine punishment, for Judgement Day has arrived. The Replica of the Legendary Weapons will smite you all!" Balmus said as his magic radiated within the staff.
"You know, some people say magic and witchcraft is the work of a devil itself. So is this contradictory?" someone asked.
"Cut the chatter, attack!" Naruto commanded.
With that, the samurai fired their arrows, the airships opened fire and everyone else unleashed their ranged attacks. Balmus laughed at what he believed to be futile attacks as his Replica weapon created a strong barrier to block every attack. When the shelling was ordered to stop, Balmus began to say another speech when the staff appeared to short circuit.
"What is this?" Balmus asked.
"I think the crazy cult guy's magic wand needs batteries." someone said as Balmus started shaking the replica.
"Weapons up." Naruto said as to keep anyone from relaxing.
Balmus looked at his followers, "Is your faith not strong enough? Grant me power to smite the devil's followers!" he commanded.
The massive army of followers had started praying which made their magical energy exit their body and flow into the Replica. By then, Naruto ordered another massive attack before the Replica could regain it's power. With many of the die hard followers of Balmus getting hit in the crossfire as Balmus started generating a smaller barrier. Where the pope then transformed his weapon into a replica of the Cardinal Bow and pulled back an arrow as he took aim.
Balmus smirked as he released a glorious looking arrow at Naruto who was in range. Only for that smug look to falter as Naruto pulled out his Enma sword and split in half at the last second. Clearly, Balmus was not going to get the easy victory he assumed he is entitled to. Especially as with how much power Replica is taking up to the point that many followers were already losing consciousness from all of the power they were giving their leader.
"Do not falter! Those who fall lack strength in their faith!" Balmus yelled as he fired another arrow.
Which Naruto also split in half, "Those who treat their followers as cattle have no purpose being leaders." he said out loud.
"As if the words of a hybrid in the shape of man matter!" Balmus yelled as he tried to fire a third arrow.
Only for Replica to falter and several followers collapsing into death. Balmus gritted his teeth in frustration as his tool was failing him.
"Why do you test me?" Balmus asked as he kept trying to reactivate the weapon.
Only for the Replica to end up sprouting a black slime that attached itself to his arms. Before Balmus could even try and remove the slime. It quickly started to surround his body like virus. Soon enough, it started to cover his entire body except for his head before devouring his followers. It would be far too late for most of the crowd to realize what was happening. As the slime started to devour them whole.
"What is this trickery!?" Balmus asked as the slime started to transform into a giant mass.
"Your majesty, it seems that the weapon released a parasitic monster." a lieutenant told him.
"Lessen your attacks, we can't be sure if our weapons and magic will harm the creature rather than feed it." Naruto said as most of the soldiers stopped attacking.
Even Hi no Kuni's forces started to back up as they stopped attacking. All of them looking frightened by the giant slime slowly starting to grow. With the head of Balmus being at the top with him screaming about demon possessions.
"That thing is going to spread all over the country!" a shinobi yelled.
Naruto looked at his men, "Signal for Emperor Alucard and the airships. We have to contain this monstrosity before we can hope to destroy it." he said.
"Yes sir!" one of the soldiers said.
As the military attempted to deal with the monster. No one noticed a strange shadow moving around in the corners of the battlefield. As well as not noticing the demonic looking grin that the shadow had as it witnessed the events unfold.
Back in Konoha
Kazumi watched as her egg was being handled by Dr. Red and his nurses. The red skinned man constantly scanned over the egg with his stethoscope as if to locate a heartbeat. The man looked more like a fool than a competent physician with the strange things he was doing. Just earlier, Dr. Red was placing rulers and protractors over the egg as if he were measuring something.
"Any result doctor?" Kazumi asked, unsure of what to expect.
"Princess, handling babies is very sensitive and being a dragonoid such as yourself. It must have been very painful to push out this big egg. Because the baby inside is only going to be very big." Dr. Red explained. "Just look at it. It's either a big kid or it's got the power of a bomber class airship." he said, now sounding less professional.
"Then how is my child's health?" Kazumi asked sounding slightly frustrated.
"Oh it's fine, bad news it's going to hatch in seven days." Dr. Red said.
"How is that bad news?" Kazumi asked.
"It means I might miss my fishing trip, but who am I kidding? I'm probably off by 18 to 30 hours. You have under two weeks at most until this thing is ready to hatch." Dr. Red said as he got his fishing rod ready.
"Oh my." Kazumi said.
"Just give me a call if you want a second opinion. My cousin also owns a pharmacy." Dr. Red said as he hands over a business card. "My cousin has medication for young reptilians too." he said.
"Thank you, that will be all." Kazumi said as Dr. Red left. The princess sighed as she gently stroked her unborn egg, "I'm going to kill Vali for this."she said.
Kushina poked her head nearby, "So, how's the baby?" she asked.
"Fatherless unless Vali is found." Kazumi said as she heard Momon's giant robot running by.
"It's so infuriating when a man can't provide for his father." Kushina said as she was ready to hit Vali.
Nearby, Ram was sitting crossed legged. Unknown to most, Ram was born with a blessing granting her powerful clairvoyance. Which she was using to locate Vali among the civilian populace. It wasn't too hard to discern him as his power level could surpass that of a kage in their prime. So Ram was able to clear most of konoha with her power.
"He's doing a good job of hiding himself." Ram said.
"Do you think Emperor Vali is still in the village sister?" Rem asked.
"No doubt about it. His signature is still fresh." Ram answered as she kept looking.
By then, Momon and her sons arrived wile she was wearing a top hat. Before anyone could question the woman's presence. Momon took off her hat and gestured for Walt to pull out whatever is inside of the hat. Though Walt appeared to have some issues trying to remove the contents of the hat.
"Hold on here, it seems to be stuck." Walt said. "Larry, help me out here." he said.
"O-Okay." Larry said as he tugged on Walt's waist.
"Let me help!" Igner said as he tugged on Larry who was tugging on Walt.
"Don't you idiots know how to pull a rabbit out of a hat?" Momon asked as she slapped Walt.
Resulting in him letting go and falling on top of Larry who fell on top of Igner. With all three of them whining as they fell in pain. Rem walked up to Momon and attempted to pull out the "rabbit" from the hat. That's when the three boys were shocked to see Rem casually pulling out Vali as tied up.
"How did he get in there?" Rem asked.
"That doesn't matter, all that matters is my surrogate grandson gets hitched and raises his baby." Momon said as she dragged Vali across the ground.
"I never agreed to this!" Vali argued.
"You made up your own agreements when you couldn't keep your pants on." Momon said as she tossed him in front of Kazumi.
"Hi… babe." Vali said awkwardly.
"Keep him restrained." Kazumi said.
"Sure thing kid, I guess we have to do this barbarian style." Momon said.
"How does a barbarian wedding work?" Kushina asked.
"We bind the idiot groom in a chain, drag his ass across town to the ceremony and have a bunch of guards ready to kick his ass if he somehow makes a run for it." Momon explained.
"Sounds elegant." Kushina commented as most of the guests looked at her awkwardly.
"Sounds appropriate." Kazumi said as she saw Vali thrashing around.
"Hey, I'm an emperor. So I think I at least deserve some dignity." Momon said.
"Your entitlement has been stripped. Besides, Azazel seems to agree with this decision." Momon said.
"Azazel is saving his own ass." Vali replied.
"Yeah I know, now go spend time with your kid and fiancee. We'll pick out a suit for you later." Momon said as she handed the rope over to Kazumi.
"And I'll be sure to teach him basic manners while I'm at it." Kazumi said while glaring at her husband to be.
"Arachne, now would be a good time to help me." Vali said as Arachne watched from a distance.
'I'm not getting between that.' Arachne thought as she stayed hidden.
"Too bad Arashi and Mito won't be around. I think their mission is going to take quite a while." Kushina said.
That's when Tohru and the girls started to get to work, "We'll have the invitations set and ready." she said.
"AH!" Ichigo squealed along with his sister and cousins.
"And maybe someone can get little outfits for the infants." Rem suggested.
Kushina grinned, "That's my first priority." she said.
Yasaka snickered, "These days are all sorts of hectic. I wonder where that husband of mine is." she said wondering what Naruto is going through.
Back in Yuki no Kuni
Arashi and Mito leaned against Yukie's cabin as Kakashi came out and greeted them.
"How's the actress?" Arashi asked.
"She passed out from the stress, though she'll be fine." Kakashi said being his optimistic self.
"So what's the plan? It doesn't look like we're making movies anymore." Tomoe asked.
"I think that will be up to our client when we get the truth out of him." Kakashi answered.
"You need help with that?" Tomoe asked.
"I think I got it." Kakashi said as he didn't want the dragon to get violent.
As the jounin left to speak with the client, Sandayu, Arashi and slid down onto the deck floor with Tomoe. Both looking out into the sea and wondering what's going to happen.
"Hey Tomoe, do you feel cold in that kimono?" Arashi asked.
"Kid, you're a little young for me to cuddle with." Tomoe said.
Arashi turned red, "Hey I'm not offering that!" he said.
Tomoe laughed, "I'm just kidding, besides I prefer a more physically mature mate and one that can beat me in a fight." She said before shivering.
"Karma." Arashi said.
"It's not Karma! Besides, I have really thick skin and we dragons have a lot of resistance against the elements." Tomoe said as she kept shivering. "Still, why is it suddenly cold? What is this?" she asked as the air felt too ice cold even for Tomoe.
"Maybe your regular dragon form is resistant." Arashi said.
Unlike most of the group, Tomoe wasn't wearing a lot of warm clothes. Even Tania was initially too stubborn to consider wearing winter clothes since her main element is fire.
"Whatever, besides I'm hungry. So let's go eat." Tomoe said as she rubbed her shoulders.
"The winds sure are picking up. We better get inside before the deck starts to freeze." Arashi said as ice started to pile onto the deck.
"Seriously, something is up with this country. The land of frost giants is the only place that's really intense with the cold." Tomoe said as they went inside.
Out in the distance, a red haired man and a white haired woman stood on top of an iceberg.
"That's them? Those kids and those rogue dragons?" the white haired woman asked.
"I'm surprised to see that they're related to Naruto. They learned his styles, but they're just babes compared to what Naruto went through." the red haired man said.
The white haired woman kicked her feet in the air, "I doubt they could handle your presence let alone fight you, Guy. So you shouldn't even think about it." she said.
"Oh don't even think about it Velzard. They're centuries too young and inexperienced." Guy said as he stretched his arms. "Besides, we are here for work. Not play." he said as he looked at Yuki no Kuni's borders.
"Alright, I never wanted to leave the house, but this better be worth it. I heard the current Dragon Princess is having a child and a wedding so that's the only interesting thing going on so far." Velzard said as she stretched her arms and legs.
"Business may be dull, but it's part of the job of being a True Demon Lord after all. Though I hope Naruto appears soon, I wish to duel him again." Guy said as he grinned.
"Okay okay, let's go already." Velzard said as she felt very bored and wanted some excitement in her life.
Unknown to anyone else, Velzard's presence made the low temperatures drop even further. The White Ice Dragon isn't a title meant to describe Velzard's style of home decor. Even lesser dragons like Tomoe know better than to mess with someone from Veldanava's family.
