Lelouch and Kallen were walking together and heading for the residence within Ashford Academy.
"Wait seriously?" Kallen asked surprised, "Shirley knows that you're Zero?"
"Yeah, she found out during our operation in Port Yokosuka," Lelouch said.
"But how?" Kallen asked.
Lelouch explained to Kallen what had occurred during the operation when he stumbled on what was going on between Madd, Shirley, her father Joseph, and Villetta Nu. Lelouch also explained that it was part of the reason that Mao had targeted Shirley to get to him. Kallen listened and was surprised.
"I see, so that's what happened," Kallen said.
"Yeah," Lelouch said.
Not long after that, Lelouch and Kallen arrived at the residence and they entered. They entered the common room and there they saw Nunnally, Rai, and Alice and they were surprised to see Milly there.
"Oh Milly," Lelouch said.
"Hi there," Milly greeted with a smile.
"Oh Madam President," Kallen said.
"Well well, so Kallen is here as well," Milly said with a mischievous grin.
"What's with the grin?" Lelouch asked.
"It's nothing," Milly said gleefully.
"Suuurrree," Lelouch responded.
Milly chuckled in response and Lelouch shrugged and went to sit on the couch and Kallen sat next to him.
"Anyway, I went to see Shirley to see how she was doing," Milly said.
"Oh you did," Lelouch said.
"Yeah, she felt better to go to her swim practice," Milly said with a smile.
"That's good," Lelouch said.
"Yeah," Milly said, "so Lelouch, Shirley actually found out that you're Zero."
"Yeah," Lelouch replied.
Kallen was shocked when she heard Milly say that and looked at her surprised. Milly in response looked at Kallen with a grin.
"Surprised Kallen?" Milly asked, "That's understandable."
"Hold on," Kallen said and then she looked at Lelouch.
"Yeah, Milly already knows," Lelouch said, "her and her grandfather had already known from the start."
"In fact, they're the reason why we're able to have an underground base," Nunnally said, "in addition, the principal helped with the designs for our Knightmares, Lionel and Lucan. They've been also keeping us to date of the happenings like 'certain people' visiting the campus."
"I see," Kallen said amazed.
"Hmm, surprised Kallen?" Milly asked.
"Yeah I'm surprised," Kallen replied.
"Were you and your friends just as surprised to learn that Lelouch and Nunnally were born from the royal family?" Milly asked.
"You know about that too?" Kallen asked surprised again.
"Of course, my family and I have known from the very beginning," Milly said.
"The thing is Kallen," Lelouch said, "the Ashford family were huge supporters of our mother Marianne."
"In fact, the Ganymede that our mother piloted at the time was commissioned by them, well really Milly's grandfather the principal."
"So aside from us in the room," Rai said, "and the others in the Black Knights oh and of course Suzaku, the Ashford Family is also aware about Lelouch and Nunnally's status."
"It's funny," Alice said, "I was sent here in order to spy on Milly and the principal to find if they were planning against the empire with Lelouch and Nunnally and now here I am allying myself with all of you and the fact that it's actually true."
"It is funny," Milly said with smile, "but that's because you like us the best."
"It's true I do," Alice said happily.
"Oh I see," Kallen said amazed again, "this is such a surprise."
Milly sighed sadly, "Still, the all knowing Ashfords…"
The others noticed Milly's changed sad expression and got concerned.
"Milly, is something wrong?" Nunnally asked.
"Well the truth is that they got another blind date for me," Milly said.
"Another one?" Nunnally asked, "And you mean your parents, right?"
"Yeah and I don't know if I'll be able to get out of it this time," Milly said.
"This time?" Kallen asked.
"My parents have been sticking me with blind dates for some time," Milly said and then she sighed, "It's my parents' hope that I marry someone of prestige just so the Ashford family can be reestablished."
"Oh I see," Kallen said as she understand why that was the case, "but I take it that you're not happy with the idea."
"No, I'm not," Milly said as she fidgeted her fingers, "I just like to marry someone of my own choice when I'm ready. That's all."
"That's totally fine," Alice said, "you should be able to make your own choices. Of course that's just me."
"Yeah, it's unfortunate that they're more concern of reestablishing the Ashford name than their own daughter's happiness," Rai said.
"What about you Lelouch?" Milly asked looking at Lelouch.
"Me?" Lelouch asked.
"What do you think I should do about it?" Milly asked with a sad expression, "Do you know what I should do?"
"I…" Lelouch spoke.
Lelouch felt sad as he didn't know what to really say or what he could do for Milly.
Toyoma
In the secret base of the Code-R Research Team, Madd was livid and he grabbed Sancia by her hair. Dalque and Lucretia pleaded their commander to have mercy but Madd was not having it.
"You incompetent pieces of trash!" Madd said angrily, "You're telling me that CC got the best of you? CC of all people. Can't you do anything right?!"
"Colonel, please," Sancia pleaded.
Madd got angry and threw Sancia to a wall in which Sancia hit the wall and then fell on the floor. Lucretia and Dalque ran over to check over their surrogate sister and helped her.
"Bah, this is what happens when relying on you Numbers," Madd said bitterly, "it's thanks to me that you three became Honorary Britannians and each of you was allowed to obtain Geass. All I ask in return is to complete the missions that I assign you," Madd glared at the three girls, "but now you've failed me. First you lose track of Alice and get defeated by that damn Kuromaki and now you were defeated by CC, the same CC I told you to capture if you saw her."
"It couldn't be helped," Lucretia said meekly, "CC got the best of us."
"Shut your mouth!" Madd said angrily, "Don't talk back to me!"
Madd rushed and viciously slapped Lucretia which caused her to fall on the floor and Sancia and Dalque were mortified in what they saw. Lucretia was shaken and looked at Madd with fear as tear streamed from her eyes.
"Don't you ever talk back to me," Madd responded and pointed at Lucretia, "do I make myself clear? Tch, you three are worthless trash!"
The members of the research team looked and saw what was going on and they all disturbed and they just looked away from the abusive sight. They suddenly heard a sound and they wondered what it as the sound was getting louder.
"The hell is that?" Watts asked.
"Hmm, what is it?" Madd asked.
Madd and the three agents wondered what the noise was as it was getting louder.
"Could it be…?" Madd spoke.
There was a sudden crash through the building and scared and surprised everyone in the building. They looked and saw that it was a huge gray truck that crashed through the building.
"What the hell?!" Watts spoke.
"What idiot drives a truck through here?" One of the researchers asked annoyed.
"Whoever it is can't be allowed to leave here," Madd said as he brought out his gun.
A shot was fired and it disarmed Madd of his weapon. They were shocked and they looked seeing that gloved hand appeared from the driver's side holding a gun.
"You won't be doing that," A male voice said.
"W-Who is it?" Madd asked.
The driver of the vehicle came out and it was Jarvis holding a gun.
"I found you all," Jarvis said.
Madd, the three Geass agents, and the Code-R Research Team were shocked to see Jarvis.
"Who is…wait, that uniform," Watts said.
"A Knight of the Round?!" Another researcher said.
"Why?" Madd asked angrily, "Why the hell are you here?"
"I'm here to pick you all up," Jarvis said, "as you all assumed correctly, I am a Knight of the Round. I'll introduce myself; I am Jarvis Trenton, the Knight of Two. I'm here by orders of the Emperor himself to have you all in custody."
The others were shocked in what they had heard and Madd clenched his teeth in anger.
"You are quite naïve Reggie," Jarvis said.
"Don't call me that!" Madd said angrily, "You think that just because you're a Knight of the Round that you can just refer to me so informally?"
"So uptight," Jarvis said with a shrug, "Besides, me referring to you informally is not something you should worry about right now," Jarvis looked at Madd with a serious and glaring expression, "you have been testing the limits of the Emperor's patience as of late. You need to be reminded of who's really in charge and you have no choice but to accept that hard fact."
Madd continued to clench his teeth and he looked down on the floor frustrated. More vehicles showed up and then they stopped and soldiers were coming out pointing their guns at the research team. In responses, the scientists put their hands up as they knew that they couldn't get away. Jarvis moved and looked at Sancia, Lucretia, and Dalque.
"One more thing," Jarvis said, "you three…"
"Uh y-yes," Sancia said.
Madd looked at Jarvis with hatred and had his thoughts, "Arrogant punk...he wouldn't be so full of himself if wasn't for the fact Charles zi Britannia is Emperor," Madd clenched his teeth and thought about Charles and VV, "they've taken everything from me since then."
Medical Facility, Tokyo Settlement
Suzaku had just finished his medical exam and was sitting with the female doctor and Cecile was with him. The doctor was telling Suzaku his results.
"The test results came out fine," The doctor said and she looked at her computer screen, "although you seem to pay attention to discipline and weighing the value of human life."
"Um, is that going to be a problem?" Suzaku asked.
"These are positive traits for a soldier," The doctor clarified, "but I wonder, do you think you're comparing yourself to your father?"
Suzaku and Cecile were taken aback what the doctor asked.
"My father?" Suzaku asked.
"Yes, that may be the underline cause if your insecurity. It's quite common in children of famous people," The doctor deduced, "After all, your father Genbu Kururugi, the former Prime Minister of Japan was a great man."
Suzaku looked at the side with a sad expression.
"A great man…" Suzaku said.
Suzaku recalled in his mind seven years ago when his father died and Suzaku looked on horrified and pleaded his father to wake up.
"I…" Suzaku said as he felt ashamed.
"Suzaku…" Cecile said being very concerned.
A Gravesite
Five people were standing and looking at the grave of Genbu Kururugi and it was Todoh along and the Four Holy Swords and they were in their civilian clothes.
"So here we are," Urabe said.
"Well this is sure is quite place to meet," Asahina said, "the grave of Prime Minister Kururugi."
"The traitor who told us to fight to the end then he went and committed suicide," Chiba said, "at least that we were first told but that is not the truth."
"No, we know the real truth," Senba said, "We now know what really happened to the Prime Minister."
"Yes but it doesn't make it any better," Todoh said, "knowing that Prime Minister Kururugi was actually killed."
"And the one who did it," Asahina said, "was his own kid."
Todoh thought about it and closed his eyes and frowned. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched by a small Britannian squad ready to move in to capture Todoh.
Ashford Academy
Lelouch was in the clubhouse and was frustrated that he still had no clues in finding Mao.
"If I get in within 500 meters," Lelouch said, "Mao can read my thoughts. Yes, that's exactly what he wants," Lelouch clenched his teeth, "If only I knew where Mao is."
"That makes two of us," A female voice said.
Lelouch turned and saw CC as she approached him.
"So you weren't successful either," Lelouch said.
"No, I couldn't get much from those three," CC said.
"So even going to them didn't help," Lelouch said.
"It seems they stopped keeping track of him," CC said, "Anyway, I suggest that we work together. We'll have a better chance to find Mao."
"That's fine," Lelouch said, "but CC, I still think th—"
Lelouch was interrupted when his phone rang. Lelouch took his phone out of his pocket and looked at the caller ID but there was no name. Lelouch narrowed his eyes and guessed who it was that was calling him and he answered.
"Mao," Lelouch said.
"That's right Lulu," Mao said on the other line with glee.
"Where are you?" Lelouch asked.
"You don't need to know that," Mao replied, "anyway CC is with you right? Of course she is. Put her on, I want to talk to her."
Lelouch glanced at CC and CC just looked at Lelouch. Lelouch then handed his phone to CC and CC took the phone and placed it on her ear.
"Mao," CC said.
"CC," Mao said happily, "it just brings me joy to hear your voice."
"Where are you?" CC asked.
Clovisland
"I'm in Clovisland," Mao said with a smile.
Mao was standing by the Ferris wheel.
"I'll be here waiting for you," Mao continued, "come alone."
"I see you're just as selfish as ever I see," CC replied.
"Well if you refuse, I'll just expose Lelouch and his sister Nunnally," Mao pointed out, "I'll inform the authorities."
"Mao, you…" CC spoke.
"You know I can," Mao said with a grin, "You know that I won't hesitate to do it. I can have Lelouch and his sister eliminated anytime I want."
Elsewhere within Area 11
On the road, trucks were being driven. In the gray truck, Jarvis was driving with Madd in the passenger seat. Madd was bitter and couldn't believe what was happening.
"By the way, you people still don't have a test subject, correct?" Jarvis spoke.
Madd stayed silent and Jarvis looked at him and sighed.
"Silence is not going to help you Colonel," Jarvis said, "anyway since that's the case, there are potential test subjects that you guys can go for."
"Huh, what are you talking about?" Madd asked.
Jarvis smiled, "Those prisoners that are still in their cells within the government bureau."
"Huh, what about them?" Madd asked.
"Come now Reggie, do I really have to spell it out to you?" Jarvis asked.
Ashford Academy
CC had just hung up the phone and looked at Lelouch with a smile as she gave his phone back. CC told Lelouch what Mao wanted and then she started to walk away. Lelouch frowned at what was happening.
"So it's just like that?" Lelouch asked.
"Yeah but hey you should be happy," CC said with a smile, "we're going our separate ways again and I did promise to keep Mao out of your hair. Oh and before you say anything, I won't tell you where he is. It's better this way."
"…So you say," Lelouch replied.
"It was fun while it lasted," CC said, "and it seems we'll be going our separate ways and not on bitter terms like last time. Anyway Lelouch, don't worry, I promise that you won't suffer any trouble from me," CC smiled, "please give my regards to Nunnally, Rai, Alice, and Sayoko. Oh, I guess Kallen as well. Anyway Lelouch, thanks for everything."
CC turned and started to walk away
"You don't have to go CC," Lelouch said.
CC stopped but didn't look back, "My story that I wrote. You really like it, didn't you?"
"Yeah, I really did," Lelouch said, "Nunnally did as well. It allowed us to understand you a bit more."
"I see," CC said, "thanks for saying that but I should still go. I need to take responsibility for what I did and I can't keep avoiding it. Take care of yourself Lelouch and I hope you succeed in your goals. I really mean it."
CC left and Lelouch looked and closed his eyes. He then opened and looked at his phone as it said recorded. Lelouch then played the recording of the conversation between CC and Mao. He then dialed a number and placed it on his ear. Someone answered on the other line.
"Hi, it's me," Lelouch said.
Shizuoka Ghetto
Villetta was standing and waiting with her arm crossed. She then uncrossed her arms and looked at her wristwatch for the time and narrowed her eyes. It was then that someone showed up. It was a man that was average height and had short brown eyes and gray eyes and he wore a blue shirt and brown pants with black shoes.
"It's about time you got here," Villetta said, "as an Honorary Britannia, it's not good to keep your superiors waiting. Any other time, you would have suffered the consequences."
"Sorry I'm late," The man said and then he saluted, "I got here as fast as I could. Private Hideaki Abe, reporting for duty ma'am."
"Well I can overlook this time but anyway, I called you here because I have a special job for you," Villetta said, "and should you succeed, I'll make sure you get rewarded including a promotion."
"Yes?" Hideaki asked.
"Your mission is to infiltrate the Black Knights," Villetta asked.
Hideaki was surprised, "The Black Knights?"
"That's right," Villetta said with a smile, "I found a way. We'll bring them down from the inside."
Hideaki just looked at Villetta and smiled and saluted to her.
"Yes ma'am," Hideaki said, "I will fulfill my mission."
"Britannia will thank you for this," Villetta said, "now I'll explain the mission."
Underground Base
Rai and Alice were going through the charts with Milly and Kallen for the Black Knights and the status of their allies in other Areas. Sayoko had a few discs that contained files that she retrieved from her trip. Nunnally was on the phone with Diethard as she placed a disc on the table.
"Correct, we read over your proposal of reorganizing the Black Knights," Nunnally said, "my brother has some changes in mind but overall we like where you're going with this. We'll go through them with Naoto and Keitaro."
Karaoke Shop
Diethard was in a room with two people who working on the logistics for the Black Knights.
"Thanks Void," Diethard said with a smile, "I appreciate it."
"No problem," Nunnally said on the other line, "Really, it's you that deserves thanks for what you've done. Now next, Zero wants you to insert a chart that forecast of how the cell block structure will be implemented."
"Understood," Diethard said.
Nunnally hung up and Diethard did the same and he was pleased.
"So that was the final test," Diethard said, "so that means I passed."
Underground Base
"So everything went well," Sayoko said.
"Yes," Nunnally said, "Diethard has proven to be so helpful."
"Still though we should be careful," Rai said, "there is still a chance that he could be a spy."
"I seriously doubt it," Nunnally said.
"Hmm, are you sure Nunnally?" Kallen asked.
"I'm sure," Nunnally said, "Diethard Reid is genuine for this but as far as his own reasoning…well that's a different matter."
"Say I was wondering," Kallen said.
"Hmm?" Nunnally responded looking at Kallen.
"Shouldn't Lelouch be here right now?" Kallen asked, "I was wondering if he knew what he was going to do about this Mao guy."
"Oh about that," Nunnally said, "my brother already left to make his move."
"Wait, he did?" Milly asked surprised.
Rai, Alice, and Sayoko were surprised as well.
"Yep, he took off a while ago," Nunnally said.
Unknown Place
Lelouch typing someone on his laptop and then he plug something on the system. Next to him was a long case.
"All conditions cleared," Lelouch said, "it's time for payback."
Clovisland
CC was just standing in the theme park. The lights of the theme park suddenly turned on and carousal started to activate. CC looked and saw Mao riding in the carousal.
"CC, your mind is so quiet," Mao said happily, "It's the only one I can't read. You really are the best there is."
"As childish as ever I see," CC responded.
"I'm a prince on a white stallion," Mao declared, "and a prince has to rescue the princess," Mao laughs happily as he got off carousal, "Does that make you happy CC?"
"Mao, we talked about this before," CC said, "I told you that I was—"
"Those are lies, lies!" Mao interrupted, "CC, you love me and this is how I know it."
Mao took off his headphone and had CC listen to the recording of her own voice calling and encouraging Mao. CC didn't like what Mao was doing and screamed at him to stop. It reminded CC of what she did and the things she told Mao in the past.
Flashback: Chinese Federation, eleven years ago
"Be quiet!" The six-year-old Mao screamed as he held his ears and clenched his teeth.
CC held Mao close to her.
"Don't listen to them Mao," CC said, "Just listen to the sound of my voice. That's it, since my mind is the only one you can't read then you can be happy with me. I will stay with you always Mao. Yes, I'm right here so you don't need to worry."
Flashback End
"CC, you're the only one I want," Mao said, "the one I want to be with forever. Lelouch doesn't matter. He doesn't deserve you, especially after the way he treated you. Just come with me and we'll be happy together, after all you and I—"
"Stop it!" CC shouted as she drew a gun and pointed at Mao.
Mao was surprised that CC was actually pointing a gun at him.
"CC, you're not serious," Mao said.
"I am," CC said, "I should have done this a long time ago."
A gunshot was fired.
Old Tokyo Tower
Jinta was in the museum within the tower when his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and saw that it was Lelouch and he answered.
"Lelouch?" Jinta said.
Lelouch spoke on the other line and Jinta nodded.
"Okay, everything is set," Jinta said, "got it, I'll get right on it."
Clovisland
CC fell on the ground as she suffered a gunshot wound to the right shoulder by Mao who had his gun out.
"I knew it!" Mao said happily, "I knew you couldn't pull the trigger and that's because you really love me CC!"
Mao started to laugh and clapped his hands happily.
"You're wrong Mao!" CC responded, "I was just using you from the start!"
Mao didn't like what he just heard looked at CC.
"What are you saying CC?" Mao asked as he pointed his gun CC, "You shouldn't tell lies like that! You really shouldn't!" Mao shot a couple rounds at CC and injuring her further, "Lies are very, very wicked. Wicked lies!" Mao shoots CC again, "But don't worry CC, I completely understand."
Mao kept shooting CC and CC laid flat on the ground and bleeding from the gunshots.
"CC you must listen to me," Mao said, "I've built a big brand new house in Australia, a very quiet, white, immaculate, special house. But to get to Australia you'll need to take an airplane and there isn't very much room," Mao walks to the side," the thing is CC you're a little too big to bring on a plane," Mao brought something from stands and it was a chainsaw and he looked at CC insanely, "So that's why I'm going to make you compact! It'll take no time at all!"
Mao maniacally sliced off a pole with the chainsaw. CC was shaking and saw it as Mao getting revenge on her for abandoning him.
"Is this you're revenge? Your vengeance?" CC asked, "You're punishing me for what I did?"
"Oh no!" Mao insisted, "I'm not! I'm not! I'm not! I'm not! I'm not at all! I'm showing you my gratitude, really I am."
"You really are twisted Mao," Lelouch's voice said.
Mao and CC were surprised to hear Lelouch's voice. There was sudden static coming from the large monitor and they saw it. The static ended and Lelouch was seen on the large monitor.
"Lelouch?" CC spoke surprised.
"Lelouch," Mao said.
"Since your Geass is permanently active, you hear the thoughts of people around you within 500 meters, whether you want to or now," Lelouch said, "therefore in order for you to prevent it, you chose a place where there would be no people and Clovisland is one of the few places that you would choose for during this time. Of course it also means that you can't reach me since I am now in Tokyo Tower."
Mao was surprised and then he happily laughed and clapped his hands.
"Very good Lelouch," Mao said, "you're absolutely correct. Since you just revealed that you're in Tokyo Tower, you're right, I can't read your thoughts but that doesn't really matter to me. I mean really, what can you really do after going through the trouble of hacking the system? Attack me through some remote controlled gizmo? Try to talk me down to defeat me or simply go on a rant about how I victimize your dear Shirley who is innocent according you. Hmm, well?"
Lelouch was silent and Mao grinned in response.
"Hmm, what's wrong Lulu?" Mao said in a mocking tone, "Cat got your tongue?" Mao chuckled, "Do you want CC back?" Mao shook his head, "Shame on you Lulu. You don't deserve her not after what you did."
"I simply had a disagreement with CC," Lelouch said, "that's all. But you on the other hand, you're quite vindictive, shooting CC like a sadist and you're just ready to carve her up with a chainsaw. That is not the actions of someone that loves and cherishes CC. That's the act of someone who really feels resentment towards CC and it's easy to see why considering she left you. Just admit it Mao, you felt betrayed by CC and you can't forgive for what she did."
"You don't know anything Lelouch," Mao replied and pointed at the screen, "and I'm warning you, you keep pushing your luck, I'll have you ruined. Don't forget that I know who you really are. The moment that I expose you and your sister Nunnally, you two are finished and all of your members and supporters of the Black Knights will fall with you," Mao grinned sadistically, "including the members who are also your classmates at your school."
Lelouch chuckled, "That's not going to happen. We won't be exposed by a pathetic manchild like you."
Mao was taken aback and twitched in anger as he put his finger down.
"Manchild?" Mao said in anger, "Lelouch, you have some nerve! You know nothing about me! Hell, you don't really know anything about CC! You don't know her like I do!"
"That's where you're wrong," Lelouch said with a smile, "I know more of CC than you realize."
"You're lying!" Mao rebuked.
"Oh yeah," Lelouch said, "then how about this? Mao, you know for a fact that CC is not her real name."
"Yeah so what?" Mao replied, "Does that mat—"
Mao cut himself off when he guessed where Lelouch was going with it.
"Good, you know what I'm getting at," Lelouch said, "and the thing is I know her real name. Well to be completely honest, I'm not the only one who knows. My sister knows and our close allies know."
Mao was shocked and then he looked at CC who was still on the ground.
"CC, is that true?" Mao asked in disbelief, "Did you actually tell Lelouch your real name?"
CC looked at Mao but didn't say anything and Mao felt hurt.
"But it can't be," Mao said upset, "you never ever told me your real name no matter how many times I asked you, no matter how much I pleaded with you but you told him," Mao pointed at screen, "you told Lelouch?! You actually told him, that bastard?!"
"Do you know why that is the case?" Lelouch asked with a smile and made Mao look at him, "It's simply because CC prefers to be with me, prefers to be part of my crew."
"No, she doesn't! She doesn't! She doesn't! She doesn't! She doesn't!" Mao said angrily, "You're a liar!"
"It's the truth and you know it," Lelouch said with a grin, "Think about it, why do you think she went out of her way to help me and Shirley in Narita? CC prefers my company over yours."
"No! No! No! No! No! No!" Mao shouted, "Not true, not true! Not true at all! You're a liar! CC is mine! She was with me long before she ever met you!"
"I have gained everything from her Mao," Lelouch said, "and when I say everything," Lelouch grinned as emphasized, "I mean everything."
Mao was shocked again and he was boiling with rage.
"Leeeelooouch!" Mao spoke as he was blinded with rage and he turned on the chainsaw and charged towards the huge monitor, "Face me you vile bastard!" Mao slashed the monitored with the chainsaw with rage, "Hurry up and face me! Face me so I read your mind and then I'll know you're a liar! That's what you are Lelouch, you're a liar! Liar!"
"Mao, you have lost," Lelouch said.
"Ha, you're wrong!" Mao replied, "I'll take CC with me and you'll never see her again but just for pissing me off, for antagonizing me, I'll make sure that—"
"You'll fall on the ground," Lelouch interjected.
"No, I'll ruin you and expose you to the authorities!" Mao said.
"No, you're going to fall right now," Lelouch said.
"Are you stupid?" Mao said with a mocking tone, "I'm not going to—"
Mao didn't get to finish because a gunshot was suddenly fired and the bullet hit Mao and went through his right leg which caused him to fall on the ground. Mao was wide eyed and he looked and realized he was shot in the leg.
"What the hell?" Mao said surprised.
CC looked and she was shocked as well and wondered where the shot came from. Mao was angry and held the chainsaw up but when he did that, there was another shot and he was shot through his wrist which made him drop the chainsaw and Mao screamed in pain.
"I said that you would fall on the ground," Lelouch said.
CC and Mao looked and moments later, they were surprised in what they were seeing and it was Lelouch walking towards them with a rifle. CC and Mao were shocked to see him.
"That can't be!" Mao said surprised, "You couldn't be here already! You were just at Tokyo Tower!" Mao looked and saw Lelouch on the screen, "You're there…" Mao then looked at Lelouch who was in front of him, "and yet you're here? Is there two of you?"
"No," Lelouch on the screen said, "there is only one Lelouch Lamperouge and he's standing with a rifle in hand and as for me..."
The Lelouch who was on the screen held his face and something was coming off. It was actually a mask and then he took off the black wig. The person on the screen was actually Jinta. CC and Mao were surprised.
"What the hell?" Mao said shocked.
"Jinta, it's you," CC said.
"Who are you?" Mao asked, "Are you one of his pals?"
"My name is Jinta Kuromaki," Jinta said, "and yes, I am one of Lelouch's close allies and of course one of them that knows CC's real name."
"Do you get it now Mao?" Lelouch asked as he stood in front of him.
"So that means that I was actually talking to him?" Mao said.
"Yes, I had Jinta disguised himself as me and to appear on the screen. You had your concentration focused on the screen showing who you thought was me. Having the monitor with Jinta speaking to you kept you distracted and you reduced your range and because of that, I was able to get in position without you noticing. Hmph, since you read minds you never really resorted to cunning. You believed that you had everything in your control but you were wrong. "
Mao clenched his teeth in anger, "Damn you."
"Now then, it's time to end this," Lelouch said as he moved closer and he brought out his own handgun out of his pocket and pointed at Mao's head, "You're done for good Mao. I win."
"Lelouch, wait!" CC said, "If I talk to him—"
"You already tried CC," Lelouch interjected, "you can't reason with him no matter how much you try."
"You bastard!" Mao said enraged as he was still bleeding, "This isn't over!" Mao pulled out his cell phone from his pocket, "I can still—"
Mao was cut off again when Lelouch shot his hand and made him drop of cell phone. Lelouch then proceed to kick the cell phone away from Mao and the kick actually broke the phone.
"Did you really think that I was going to let that happen?" Lelouch said, "it would have been different if you really had informed the police or the military about me and my sister when you realized but you chose not to which is a good thing for me and not so good for you for it will be your undoing."
"I hate you! I hate you! I hate you Lelouch!" Mao said enraged.
"Hmph, I hate you as well," Lelouch said with a venomous tone, "I hate the fact you targeted and tormented someone I care about and used her against me. Now be a good boy and die."
Mao screamed no as Lelouch shot a round and killed Mao as the bullet went through his skull. Mao laid on the ground dead as blood seeped from his head from the gunshot. Lelouch sighed and looked at the damaged monitor.
"It's finally over," Lelouch said.
"I'll come right over and take care of it," Jinta said.
"Thanks and sorry for asking you to do this," Lelouch said, "I wanted my revenge and you indulged me."
"It's not a problem," Jinta assured, "I don't mind helping in any way I can. With this, it's over and Mao won't be able to bother you or anyone else again."
"Yeah and I made him pay for what he did to Shirley," Lelouch said, "now then…"
Lelouch looked at CC and then he went over and kneeled next to her. He put his handgun away and strapped the rifle on his back and picked up CC and held her in a bridal carry.
"Let's get you out of here," Lelouch said.
"Lelouch," CC said, "I don't know what to really say."
"…You don't really have to say anything," Lelouch said, "at least not until you feel like it. You already helped when you told me what I needed to know."
"Why?" CC asked.
"Hmm?" Lelouch responded looking at CC.
"Why did you help me?" CC asked, "Why go through the trouble? There was no need for you to deal with it and it's not like you have any intention to grant my true wish. What was the point?"
"I told you, I wanted to be the one to make Mao pay," Lelouch said.
"But it was my responsibility," CC said, "if I had done what I should have done a long time ago, then—"
"But you didn't and I think I know why," Lelouch said, "You couldn't really bring yourself to kill him, could you?"
CC was taken aback and looked away.
"I get the sense that you have regret," Lelouch said, "a lot of it in your past. I haven't known you long enough but I can tell by the look of your face. You had the same sadness back in Narita and even on the way back. You try to hide it but I noticed and it seems that genuinely really did care for Mao. That's why you didn't kill him before. You couldn't do it then nor could you do it now."
CC was surprised and she had a sad expression and sighed. A half hour later, Jinta had arrived and picked up Mao's body.
Tokyo Park
Lelouch and CC were in the park and they both sat down on a bench.
"Mao was six year old when I gave him Geass," CC said, "he was an orphan who never knew the love of a parent. He couldn't read or write and he knew nothing of good and evil. When I entered the contract with him, it isolated him and I became Mao's entire world even though I was still a complete stranger. I was the only one who he ever thought of as human and I became his friend and his lover."
"I see," Lelouch said.
"I caused you some trouble Lelouch," CC said, "You know with Mao."
"Don't worry about it," Lelouch said, "as far as I'm concern, Mao won't be a problem anymore. I know you wanted to deal with the situation and my apologies for getting in the way of that. I wanted revenge for what Mao did and I wouldn't have been satisfied if I didn't deal with him by my own hands."
"You don't need to apologize," CC said, "in the end, you did what I couldn't do, what I couldn't bring myself to do even though I said to myself that I would."
Lelouch stood up from the bench, "CC, any idea what you're going to do now?"
"No, not really," CC answered.
"In that case, why don't you come back with me?" Lelouch suggested.
"Lelouch, are you serious?" CC replied, "After all that…well, that I…"
"After reading your story and with everything that has happened," Lelouch said, "I would like to make a proposal."
"A proposal?" CC asked.
"Yes, I intend to change things," Lelouch said, "I'm going against an empire that controls one third of the world and I intend to bring it down and free other nations held by Britannia's strangling grip. I don't know what will happen in the near future but I intend to survive this. What the result will be, I don't know but if I make it through this with everyone else still well, I can show you that are things still worth looking forward to and then if it doesn't do well for you, well we'll figure it out when the time comes and I may be actually willing to take your Code and bare the curse."
"Lelouch, do you really mean that?" CC asked.
"I do," Lelouch said, "you came back and helped me even if you had your own personal reasons to do and you pointed me and Nunnally at the right direction for something we needed. That means something to me so now I want to point to you something and show you something that will give you faith."
"Is this your way of comforting me?" CC asked, "Or maybe it's your obsession?"
"I would like to consider it a contract from me to you," Lelouch said, "So what do you say CC? The choice is yours of course."
CC looked at CC and was amazed.
"I may cause you trouble again," CC warned, "and if we do this, I want pizza."
Lelouch chuckled, "Acting just like how we met," Lelouch shrugged with a smile, "what the hell, I'll deal with it and I'll tolerate it but just don't push your luck."
"Honestly Lelouch," CC said and then she felt better and smiled, "but I can deal with that. I'm starting to understand you a bit better," CC stood up and placed her hand out, "very well then I accept your contract."
Lelouch placed his hand out and he and CC held hands.
"Thanks my accomplice," Lelouch said.
"No Lelouch," CC said, "thank you. I'm counting on you."
"Yes, I know," Lelouch replied.
"When we get back, I think I'll write another story for you and Nunnally and I guarantee you, it'll be something for you to desire."
"I see then we'll be looking forward to it," Lelouch said.
