Tina had grown up in foster homes her whole life because of her powers until she ran away at the age of 16. Until one day, she got an invite to compete in the Tournament of Elements. She took this chance to get away from New Ninjago City but this tournament was not what she was excepting.

Life story: Tina never knew her parents, she was just dropped at an orphanage with a small spell book and dragon shaped necklace. Tina mostly went from foster home to foster home her whole life because no one wanted to deal with her powers. She ran away from the last foster home and ended up living in a homeless shelter.
