My New Beginning: Part 3
Chapter 20 My Baby Girl
I woke up from a quick nap with a jolt. I felt my connection with Katherine become very weak very fast. Something was wrong…very wrong!
My office phone rang. "Madam Mayor, Emma is on line one and she says it's an emergency. She wants you to make your way to the hospital now."
My heart sank. "Is she still on the line?"
"Yes, she's waiting for you."
I got up, sat in my rolling chair, and rolled to my desk. I picked up the phone and pressed the line one button.
"Emma, what's going on?"
I heard Emma crying on the other end. "Emma, babe, what's going on?"
"Claire and I were about to have a magical altercation when who shows up to her Ma's rescue, but Katherine. She fought back instead of me because when I tried to stop her, her magic sent me flying backward away from her. Claire had already sent her magic my way, and both Claire and Katherine went down. Babe…Katherine is not responding to anything I do."
I felt as if someone reached into my chest and crushed my heart. The tear flood gate was released, and I broke down.
Emma replied, "I know. Trust me; I know how you are feeling. I need you right now. I'm so scared."
I semi-composed myself and said, "I'm coming, but I will need you, too."

-Storybrooke General Hospital-
I walked in, and Emma ran up to me catching me into an embrace then broke down.
"Thank God, you're here!" she sobbed, and I wrapped my arms around my wife.
Emma continued while crying, "I tried everything, but she wouldn't respond to me…"
I took a deep breath then looked into her eyes. "I know you did everything you could. I hate to tell you this, but you are going to have to compose yourself fast because you are going to have to comfort me in a little while when I see her."
Emma chuckled while she was still crying and I chuckled while a tear glistens my cheek without permission.
Katherine's pediatrician, Doc, walked out, "Emma, Regina…"
We walked up to Doc, and he delivered the results, "Katherine's vitals are normal. Due to this being the first time she was hit with magic, powerful magic at that, the force of the hit put her into a magical coma."
My legs felt weak. "I need to sit."
Emma brought me to a chair, and we both sat down.
Emma looked up at Doc and questioned, "Will she ever wake up?"
"Yes, she will when the one that put her in the coma is defeated. Right now, the one that put her there is here in the hospital as well."
I looked at Doc with tear-filled eyes. "Can I see my baby?"
Doc nodded, and Emma helped me stand. Doc led us down the hall and into a room where our little girl was lying in a hospital bed with an IV, heart monitor, and an oxygen nose piece in her nose. I briskly walked to the bed and took my daughter's hand in mine.
The flood gate was opened, and I stroked my daughter's head. "My baby girl! My darling! You were so strong like your Ma, but it was your temper like Mommy's that got you here. I am so proud of you that you stood up to protect Ma. You are one brave little girl. I love you so much, Katherine Grace. Oh, Emma!"
Emma pulled me into an embrace, and we cried together. Suddenly, I opened my eyes, and I saw red.
I looked at Doc. "What room is Claire in?"
"Regina…don't!"
Doc answered, "Room 123."
"Regina…"
My anger was boiling as I walked out my daughter's room, down the hall, and found Room 123. I looked inside and noticed Claire wasn't as bad off as my baby girl seven rooms down. I opened the door and walked in.

Claire opened her eyes to see she was in a hospital bed hooked up to wires and a needle with a tube taped to her. She rolled her eyes and sighed in frustration then an annoying voice that she despised filled the room.
"I hope you are happy."
Claire turned to face the voice that she knew belonged to me. "I already have a headache; why do you have to come and make it worse."
I regally walked in. "Because my daughter is now in a magical coma thanks to you and your pitiful vendetta against me!"
Claire smiled, "My plan worked! Yes! Now your little brat is out of the equation, Emma is an easy target."
I held out my hand and magically choked Claire. "Let this be a final warning to you. You will not do anything to my family," Claire was turning purple, and the monitor began to beep furiously, and I continued, "You will be the one to fail, and my daughter will be her smiling lovable self again. I will make sure of it."
I let go of Claire, and she gasped for air. I turned around and walked out of the room.
