My New Beginning: Part 3

Chapter 22 No!

-January 30th Storybrooke General-

Now 36 weeks pregnant, I was extremely uncomfortable. The only comfort I got was from seeing my daughter. I barely slept since Katherine was put in the hospital and my hatred toward Claire just continued to rise every day I come to stay with my little girl.

"Still no change?"

I turned to see my former tutor and shook my head. "No, she hasn't moved an inch. The only thing that moves is her chest to let me know she is still breathing."

Gold walked toward Katherine, and he took her hand in his. "Hello dearie, we sure miss your smile and your laughter. You brighten anyone's day with your presence. That mean lady has no heart by attacking a little angel like you."

I couldn't believe what Gold said to my daughter. He cared for her, and that made me tear up. He conjured a beautiful stuffed horse that resembled my horse, Louis, in the Enchanted Forest with a lovely lilac ribbon tied around its neck. He lifted her arm, placed it next to her, and gently rested her arm as if she was holding it.

Gold leaned over and kissed her forehead. "That was the last time I would use magic. Today, I am going to do what is right for you, our family, and this town."

I lifted my head and tried to piece together what the imp was saying. Realization hit me, and I called out to him before he walked away. "Please tell me that you are not going to do what I think you are going to do."

Gold walked up to me and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "My decision was made long before you and Emma conceived your two wee ones that are on the way. Ms. Fairchild will not tear this family apart, and I will make sure of it. For Katherine to live, a magical sacrifice must be made, and I will make it."

He kissed the top of my head and walked toward the door. I watched with a hopeful heart as my former enemy who's willingly sacrificing the power he had for many years for my family to stay together.

"Who are you and what have you done with Rumplestiltskin?" I questioned with a teary smile.

Gold opened the door, turned to look me, and replied, "I reformed him into the man he should have been."

I smiled, and he walked out of the room.

Emma and Henry walked into Katherine's hospital room noticing that I was still there holding our little girl's hand.

"Mom," I looked to my son's direction and reached out, "Henry, why are you not at school?"

Emma replied, "Let's just say there is a flu outbreak and I decided to go get him since mom called me to give me the heads up."

I closed my eyes. "Great, that is all we need for the flu to hit our house."

Henry took his little sister's hand in his. "Hey Kat; it's bubby. (now in tears) I miss you so much. I miss you running into my bedroom jumping on me so that I could play with you. Get better soon so you can be your lovable, playful self again."

He leaned forward and kissed her to her forehead. My heart got hopeful because I thought true love's kiss would sure break this magical coma. After Henry broke the kiss, Katherine remained the same and my heart sank. Emma took me in an embrace, and we both saw red. Snow and David walked into the room.

"How is she?" Snow asked, and David said the obvious, "Still no change?"

I shook my head. "Still no change. Could you two stay with Henry? Emma and I need to go take care of some business."

"Of course," Snow nodded, and Emma and I turned to our son.

Henry walked over to me and hugged me then Emma joined in making it a group hug. After we broke the embrace, Emma and I disappeared in a cloud of gold smoke.

Emma and I appeared in the clearing overlooking the town. I was about to take one step forward, and Emma reached out and grabbed my hand. I turned with an irritated look toward my wife who was wearing a goofy grin that instantly made my irritation disappear. Emma took me into an embrace to where my back was against her, and Emma's hands rested on my swollen belly.

"Look how beautiful it is," Emma pointed out, and I smiled, "It sure is."

I rested my hands on Emma's, and Emma said, "You know if you weren't pregnant right now, I would so make love to you right here."

I chuckled and replied, "How romantically barbaric of you, dear; you wanting to have sex out in the open."

"No one would see us!" Emma protested, and I decided to end the argument, "Emma, let's table this for some other time. I want to enjoy this moment with you overlooking our town as we are going face Claire."

Emma sighed, "Regina, you shouldn't even be here because of…"

I turned around, and my face hardened, "Don't even think about saying that I shouldn't be here because I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant! I'm not crippled! It is my daughter…"

"Our daughter," Emma stressed then I continued venting, "It is our daughter that Claire put in a magical coma and I will not sit around another minute longer! I want this bitch to fry!"

"Regina, babe, listen to me; I know you are not crippled and that you are just pregnant. There are two other lives besides yours I am thinking of. I know you think about them because you are one hell of a mother. But right now, your mind is filled with revenge."

"I am worried about you, Emma!" I broke into tears. "I cannot lose you. I cannot raise a sixteen-year-old, a two-year-old, and newborn twins alone. I need you."

Emma took me into a loving embrace and scratched my back. "I need you, too. I need you and the twins to be safe. If anything happened to you, I don't know what I would do."

I broke the embrace and smiled. "You can't protect me all the time. Darling, you need to trust me."

Emma smiled, "I do trust you."

I leaned forward and gave Emma a tender kiss to her eagerly waiting lips. Emma decided to deepen the kiss by sneaking her tongue in, and it was accepted when I slipped in my tongue. After Emma broke the kiss, we gazed into each other's eyes.

"I love you, Regina Katherine."

I smiled. "I love you, Emma Grace."

We turned to face the old mansion and took each other's hand. We began the hike up the trail that leads to the mansion.

We reached the doors of the mansion, and they opened by themselves. We walked in, and the doors closed behind us. My nostrils flared, and I made a disgusted look on my face.

"Why does it smell like burnt wood in here?"

Emma looked, and she recognized where the light was coming from. "It's coming from that parlor room over there. Come on."

We walked down the hall and turned right into the large parlor room.

My eyes widened. "What the hell happened here?"

The ceiling had a perfect black scorched ring and the floor as well. The fireplace had burning wood chips out in front in a semi-circle. Claire got up and realized who was here.

"Great; first the Dark one shows up and now you two idiots! My time as a punching bag is over! You two will pay for what you've done to me in that hospital!"

I fired back, "You will pay for what you've done to our daughter."

"Starting now," Emma said when she and I fired a fiery golden ball toward Claire.

Claire shielded herself only for it to be broken and the fiery ball hit her square in the chest. It knocked her back for a short time then she fired a fiery black ball toward me only for Emma to repel it, but Claire already had another plan of attack. She held out her arms, and the cards flowed out her hands and went soaring straight to us. Emma and I sent a stream of gold magic toward the cards, and they were all burnt to a crisp. Claire had immediately sent a large black fiery ball toward Emma while we were taking care of those cards. I noticed it, and I used one hand to throw a gold stream of magic that hit Claire square in the chest.

I realized it was too late to dispel the ball, so I yelled, "Emma look out!"

I pushed Emma out the way, and I took the hit. Claire and I both flew backward. Emma flew to my rescue and caught me but it wasn't fast enough. We both hit the wall behind us. The force of the hit caused Emma to lose her grip on me, and we both fell to the ground. Claire was lying on the ground by the fireplace out of it, and I was on the ground; darkness quickly taking over me.
