Hello my loyal readers, sorry for the long hiatus I was apparently on but I'm back now with another Bomika fanfiction :). I really appreciate the love that you guys gave Happenstance and all my other stories, it was so overwhelming! I love seeing people talk about my stories and sharing them with the fandom, it inspires me to keep writing.
I worked tirelessly on the fic and I've been on hold multiple times due to either I was busy or having writer's block. There were many different ways I wanted to go about the plot to this and it kept changing each time. It was just a matter of me trying to figure out how it was gonna flow. Thank you again for your patience and I look forward to writing more often again. Now, the wait is finally over, I now present to you the sequel to Happstance, 'Against All Odds'.
p.s; Sorry for any grammar or spelling errors, i'm only a dyslexic bomika obsessed teen. Speaking of which, they better start dating this season, only seven episodes left so excited!

During the first two months after Isadora was born, things were smooth sailing. Bose would say it was because they were natural at being parents and Mika would agree. But she knew it was because of those antenatal classes they participated in and the schedule they made. They inevitably had those rough patches here and there but for the most part, Adora was an easy baby.
"I hope she always stays like this," Mika would coo as she held the baby in her arms, just for the mere pleasure of being close to her. They were obsessed with Isadora and everything she did. Mika could barely go a second without planting a kiss on her. She and Bose had made a silent promise that Isadora would be the most loved little girl in the entire world. It was true, everyone loved Adora. She was often showered with gifts from Bose's family and frequently complimented on her beauty by Chapa's family.
Her parents were still getting used to having a baby around, Miles wrapped his head around it quicker than they did. They were decent to her and she felt fairly supported, however, she still sensed judgment in almost every nook, and she did often fear that they would change their mind and choose to no longer want her to be in their lives. They were still ashamed of her, they could hide it under layers of forgery but she would always know.
Mika was still living at home and Adora had to stay with her because she was nursing but Bose was still living with his parents. Although he basically lived with Mika and the baby because he spend the night nearly every day and would come over every other day to check on Mika and Adora, even when he had work. They still had to leave the door open whenever he was around which Mika found very pointless for obvious reasons.
Bose was planning on moving out soon, speaking of which his 18th birthday had taken place in those last months. Mika wished she could have done more to celebrate him, but she was too caught up in mothering which meant she couldn't give it her all like in other years. Mika still decorated his bedroom like always with blue and gold balloons, confetti, and gifts. Fortunately, Ceila came through and arranged for him a sweet get-together. Mika's phone was still recovering from storage loss, she had taken a mind-boggling number of pictures of Bose and Isadora that day. Bose was so infatuated with the child that if he could, he would have put her name on the cake, or better yet given his birthday to her just so he'd have an additional day to celebrate her.
So things for the new parents were looking very much all rainbows, sunshine, and baby cereal puffs. Alas, the honeymoon phase had to end eventually, Mika and Bose would sustain how real their new reality could get.

It wasn't long before Mika started to experience postpartum. She's heard of it but she never bothered to look into it since she assumed that it wouldn't happen to her. Mika was sure that after Isadore was born she'd be fine, even better than before actually. This caused her to dismiss the issues at hand, she wasn't fine. Mika was depressed.
At first, she started incarcerating herself in her room with Adora all-day. She thought of it as nothing but a mother wanting to spend time with her child, however, the problem was she didn't want to do anything else or see anyone else, including Bose and sometimes even Adora. Leaving the house, in general, would give her anxiety, she couldn't even do simple tasks like going to a store to buy necessities without crying. She shed tears on a daily and she didn't understand why.
She hid all this from Bose when he was around, she didn't want to be dramatic over something so incomprehensible. Easier said than done because Bose noticed immediately that something was wrong. Mika began to act how she did before she told him the news of her pregnancy. Mika became moody all the time and anger along with irritation were what dominated her.
As always, Bose tried to be Switerzelend. He noticed her unhealthy coping methods so he offered her solutions for what might be stressing her out and took off days from work just to be with her. Bose insisted that he take Adora for the week so she can have time to herself, she was restless, and he would understand if she needed some time to herself. Mika disregarded him at every attempt.
Bose figured that maybe Mika was upset because the two of them didn't have time to be a couple anymore. With all the doctor's appointments, Bose's work, and catering to Adora's every need there was no time in between. The very rare times they did get to breathe, they were both exhausted so they would cuddle together quietly on the bed.
Bose decided to change that. He wanted his girlfriend back for at least one more night. Mika had a couple of errands to run later in the week and it was his turn to look after Adora. That day Bose knew she'd be gone the longest so he set his plan into action. He wanted to surprise her with an indoor picnic in her room, Mika was always a fan of those and he wanted to make her happy.
He kept Isadora with him to help him set up, he loved her company, and besides, he could use a lady's opinion. Bose let Adora pick out which flowers he would get her, what outfit he should wear, and which foods to be appetizers. When he was all done he picked Adora up from her crib to see the final product. " You think Mommy's going to like it, honey?" He asked her and the baby gushed when he kissed her cheek. He took that as a compliment.
Soon, Ceila came to pick up Adora before Mika could get home. He cherished every moment he got to spend with his daughter but he and his girl needed them time.

One thing about Bose, he cleaned up really nicely. He stood looking in the bathroom mirror, checking his teeth out while moving his jaw from side to side. Then he fluffed his hair back excessively and aired out his half-button black collared shirt. It was as if he was 15 getting ready for his first date with Mika all over again, and he was still just as in love with her as he was then.
When Mika came home, she saw her parents on the couch watching an old-time movie, she greeted them and then went into the fridge to grab a drink. "Do you need me to go pick up Adora today from Bose's?" Her father asked her. "Actually Herm, Ceila came to pick Adora up and said she would drop off her," Angela corrected, then paused the T.V. Mika took a sip from her orange juice, "She did? Without Bose?" Mika asked suspiciously. "Yeah, is that okay?" Angela questioned. Bose always dropped Adora off when he was with her and he would have alerted her if she was with his mom.
Mika didn't respond to her parents, she was becoming concerned as to what the situation was. Mika pulled out her phone to get a hold of Bose as she made her way to her bedroom. The phone went to voicemail and Mika left a message while entering her room," Bose, are you with Isadora? Call me as soon as possible, as in now,".
Mika hadn't looked away from her phone so she hadn't noticed Bose was actually there with her. But when she did she was astounded by what captivated her eyes. Candlelights, open blankets on the floor with soft draperies, a space full of pillows, and flowers-all in her room. "Hey gorgeous," Bose came to greet her with a sly smile on his face as he took her hand. Miak looked at his hands in hers and then at her redecorated room, "What is all this?" Her eyes twinkled admiring the scenery for a short while.
Bose kissed her hand and she turned her focus on him. He looked good, and it was making her childish pre-teen heart jump through hoops. "It's for you, I know things have been hard for you for a while now I just really wanted to do something to show you how much I appreciate you,". Mika found his words sweet, however, there was still a little bitterness gauging at her throat. "Besides I've missed you," Bose let go of her hand and brought her closer to him, warping his hands around her waist.
Mika gave him a half smile, that's all she could manage. She missed Bose too, she missed when it was just them, but it wasn't just them anymore which is why even her half smile flatten. Bose saw the change in expression and waited for Mika to say what was on her mind.
"Why didn't you tell me your Mother was going to be watching over Adora today?", Mika questioned and her tone was iffy. She sounded betrayed even.
"I wanted this to be a surprise, you know because if you thought I was with Adora you wouldn't have suspected the whole indoor picnic date," Bose elaborated. Mika blinked at him, poked her cheek with her tongue, then looked down to pick at her fingernails. Bose was confused, what did he say that caused such a reaction? He removed his grip from Mika's waist then stepped back, "Wait? Does that upset you?".
Mika was bothered, "Yes, Bose that does make me upset. When you say that our daughter is with you, in my head she's with you, she's safe. I'm not comfortable with not knowing where Isadora is or who she's with. We should trust that we'll tell each other everything concerning our child."
Bose felt slightly offended, "Okay," He paused, "It's not like I left her with a stranger she's with my mom, and like I said it was a surprise, I just want to spend time with you,".
Mika was missing Bose's point, and Bose was missing Mika's point.
If they kept going back and forth an argument was bound to happen, and that was the last thing Bose had planned for them that night so instead, he apologized. "I just want to be aware next time," Mika responded quietly.
After that almost brawl, Bose attempted to push it aside and have a nice moment with Mika. Despite his throat aching from how she turned what was supposed to be a wholesome moment into the opposite. Mika made an effort to be more thankful but it was awkward.
Bose had a whole checklist of things they were going to be doing on their free night and they would have done them all but the date only lasted half an hour. Mika's heart wasn't into it and Bose wasn't in the mood to either start another argument or force her to spend any more time with him. So Bose called his mother to bring Isadora back.
He half-heartedly packed up everything, he put so much thought and time into this for it to end up being ruined over a petty squabble.
