Epilogue
))
"We're gonna be gone, traveling the world for the whole summer Mom, so you'll have to wait til school starts...Okay, great... I'll tell the kids you said hello. Bye, love you," Mika made kissy noises at the phone and hung up on her mom.
"We have to be out of here in five minutes, and whoever is not out the door will be locked in," Mika announced, rolling the last suitcase down the stairs. "Tickets checked!" Bose told himself when the printer spat out six boarding passes. "I think we might actually be on time for a flight for once," Mika passed Bose on the way to the kitchen.
Just then, sixteen-year-old Isadora came out from the terrace, wearing the same Hawaiian sundress as Mika. The patterns matched Bose's shirt as well. "Did you put the furniture away in case it rains?" Mika asked. Isadora looked confused, "Furniture? Don't we have people that do that for us?".
" I went outside to take aesthetically pleasing pictures of myself for my feed, the lighting is amazing this time of day," Isadora showed her mom the pictures she took.
Mika wanted to scold her for forgetting what she was told, once again. However, it wasn't really her fault, Isadora was easily distracted, just like her Dad. Also, those pictures came out pretty cute.
Bose checked the time on his watch, "Adora, would you please tell your siblings to come down, I'm gonna go make sure all the windows are closed,". Isadora enthusiastically nodded and made her way to the steps.
Mika was going to remind Bose to tell their gardener about the weeds when they flinched at Adora's yelling, "Trevor, Eleana, Leo, hurry up or we'll leave you here,". Adora's voice was loud, far too powerful, just like Mika's.
Isadora thought about what this vacation would be like without her siblings would be like and smirked, "Actually take you're time!'.
Rapid footsteps were heard coming down the grand marble steps. Fourteen-year-old Trevor and Leo were dressed the same as Bose, eight-year-old Eleana's dress was almost the same as Mika and her sisters, but more ruffled at the bottom. Mika always made them wear matching outfits on family vacations, she kept of log of it in her scrapbook.
Trevor and Leo were arguing about something and little Eleana tagged along trying to get their attention. "How can a snake have a tail, their whole body is one," Trevor claimed. Leo looked at him like he'd grown two heads, "Do you even hear yourself?". Leo started educating his identical twin brother, as usual. Their argument paralleled Mika and Miles so brilliantly.
Eleana walked around and went to Mika, "Mommy I can't find my hair beads," she stressed. Mika turned Eleana around and fixed her messy curly hair, "I put it in your suitcase baby, you can put them on when we get there,".
Bose came back from checking the penthouse. "Okay, we're all good!" Bose gave a thumbs up.
"Honey you can double-check when you think I'm not looking so I don't feel incapable," Bose told Mika and she tried to contain a smile, "I don't do that,". She does that. Always has.
Bose gave her a quick kiss on the lips and Mika returned it. They got lost in each other's eyes and Mika warped her arms around his neck, "I think you are beyond capable," Bose loop his hand around her waist, taking her in and humming in response. Bose laid another kiss on her lip, he never gets tired of that. He never gets tired of her.
"Awh," Adora gushed sticking out her lips at her parents.
Leo's grin stole his face. Every time he witnesses sweet moments between his mom and dad, he would always hoped that he could mind a boy that would him like that, and he'd loved them like that.
Eleana covered her eyes, pretending to be disgusted but she was all smiles.
"That's gross," Trevor nonchalantly said turning away and it got Mika and Bose's attention.
"Okay okay, let's go, Maxwell will get our bags," Mika unwarped herself from Bose and guided him to the door along with the rest of their children. "I call the window seat," Julie was saying, "No fair you always get it," Leo claimed. "Because I'm the oldest, by two years, then six years" Isadora reminded.
"So?" Trevor crossed his arms. Isadora slowly stepped out the door and the rest of her siblings followed.
"So, that means I'll always be ahead of you all by two and six years," Isadora predicted then started running the down the driveway into the car followed by Trevor, then Leo then Eleana; who really didn't care about the seat, she always sat next to her dad anyways because it was her safe space, she just wanted to feel included.
Mika rolled the final suitcase out of the door and Bose went out after her with the keys in his hand, their kids were still bickering. "Be nice you're family so you're stuck with each other for life," Mika called out, "Also Mama's getting the window seat,".
Bose took a final look around. Bose's attention went to the walls the framed family portraits and childhood photos of all four of their children. The nice track tan color of the walls suited the photos nicely.
Bose's smile was cocky, he had picked out the color after a day-long argument with Mika over which color would suit their new house better, their home was a little messy from the rush.
It wasn't perfect, but it was more than enough.
