Chapter 1: The Meeting
The blonde knucklehead ninja strained as he carried his rival on the path to Konaha. "I kept my promise, Sakura-chan," the blonde thought. Naruto grinned as he imagined her reaction to seeing Sasuke back in the village. "I would do anything to make happy." After struggling for a while longer, the large and tall village gates came into view. Naruto sped up and entered the village he loved, even thought the village didn't seem to love him back. As soon as he entered, his vision went black as he collapsed from exhaustion.
The Council Room
"NO! HE WILL STAY IN THE VILLAGE AND THAT'S FINAL!" Tsunade yelled as she slammed her fist on the desk.
"I'm afraid that isn't possible, Tsunade-sama," called a old voice. That voice belonged to Koharu, one of Konoha's senior advisors.
"Last I checked esteemed elder Koharu, I am the Hokage and whatever I say in this village is final. And that's Hokage-sama to you." Tsunade glared at Koharu, leaking killing intent at her for even suggesting such an outlandish thing.
Koharu trembled before she spoke. "A-apologies Hokage-sama. And, yes you are Hokage and whatever you say in this village does hold a lot of power. But your power can also be checked." Tsunade narrowed her eyes. "You see, you have no say in this matter, because the Daimyo himself has said that he must be banished from the village." Koharu pulled out a sheet of paper that had the official Daimyo stamp on it, stating that Naruto should be banished from the village. Tsunade's eyes widened.
"That demon-brat is too dangerous. He's lucky he's only getting banished. I would've killed him if I had the chance," Mebuki Haruno spoke out. Tsunade immediately shot her a death glare, again leaking massive amounts of killing intent. Mebuki almost fainted from the amount that was being leaked out.
Tsunade turned back to Koharu and scowled. "Why would the fire Daimyo do this? Doesn't he know how important Naruto is to the village?"
"We convinced him otherwise. He is a gullible person." This time Danzo spoke up. Tsunade narrowed her eyes at the man covered in bandages.
"It is unusual you would let a ninja of such importance leave the village Danzo."
"I feel that him staying in the village is much more of a risk to our safety than him staying out of it. Based on what we heard from Sasuke… that man cannot be allowed to stay here. He is a threat to the lives of all people in Konoha. This village would be wiped out in seconds."
"Be that as it may, Danzo, but there are always two sides to every story. Sasuke could be altering the story to his benefit. He has influence as the last Uchiha left in the village, and if I recall, you always seemed to favor the Uchiha…"Danzo stayed silent to Tsunade's response. Tsunade narrowed her eyes.
"Having an Uchiha in the village gives us a massive political advantage, Hokage-sama," says Koharu. "However, having that… that demon in the village can only harm them."
"POLITICAL REASONS? YOU WANT HIM GONE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE POLITICALLY ADVANTAGE TO THE VILLAGE?!" Tsunade screamed, disgusted.
"Precisely. Besides, it's not like you can stop it from happening. The Daimyo has already agreed to it. You cannot resist."
Tsunade slammed her chakra induced fist into the table, snapping it in half. "There is no use getting angry, Hokage-sama. It is inevitable." Tsunade glared at Koharu and started to leave the room. She sighed, defeated. "Dismissed." The council dispersed.
"Crow." A shinobi wearing a mask shaped like a crow appeared in front of the Hokage. "Hai, Hokage-sama."
"Bring Naruto to my office when he has recovered from his injuries. That is all," Tsunade orders as Crow leaves. Tsunade slowly walked out the council room thinking about how she could break the news to her beloved grandson.
Hokage's Office
"You wanted to see me, Baa-san?" asks Naruto as he enters the Hokage's office.
Tsunade closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she spoke. "Uzumaki Naruto, by order of the fire Daimyo, you are banished from Konoha effective immediately. If you step foot in Konoha or any of it's allies, you will be killed on sight. Please hand over your headband, gather your things, and leave within the hour."
Naruto stared at her in shock. "W-what are you saying, Baa-san? What do you mean I'm banished? Can't you stop it? Please Baa-san I'll do anything!" Naruto pleaded.
Tsunade sighed in response. "Unfortunately Naruto, I can't do anything. Believe me, I tried. But the Daimyos word is even more powerful than mine, so I have no power in this situation. I'm sorry Naruto."
Naruto looked down at the floor, dejected. He slowly brought his hands up and took the headband off of his head and handed it to Tsunade. Without saying another word, Naruto turned around and left. As soon as Naruto left her office, Tsunade cried harder than she ever had before. "I'm so sorry Naruto. I tried. I tried so hard but I failed you…" Tsunade opened her drawer with her stash of sake and began drinking, her thoughts all over the place on how she had lost one of the only people that was still close to her and had no power to change it.
Village Gates
Naruto, ready to leave the village, didn't look like he was going on a long journey. His bag was almost empty, and only had the bare essentials. But he was ready to leave the village for good nevertheless. He sulked as he dragged his feet along the ground heading towards the village gates, not missing the scowls and scornful looks from the villagers. "Demon!" they all breathe out. Some even decided to throw any sharp object they had around them at him.
Naruto, after what felt like hours, finally made it to the village gates and stopped in front of them and sighed. "Well, I guess this is it huh. I'm leaving the village. For good." Naruto readjusted his small bag and was about to leave before he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around to see who it was and smiled. "Sakura-chan!"
Sakura, however, was not smiling. In fact, it was quite the opposite. She looked absolutely furious. "Naruto!" she yelled. "How dare you bring Sasuke back in that condition!" She punched Naruto across the face out of the blue.
"W-why did you just punch me Sakura-chan? I brought Sasuke back to you, didn't I? I kept my promise to you!" Naruto pleaded.
Sakura punched him again. "I didn't think you were going to bring him back on the verge of death! If I had known that then I would've never asked you to do it. Mom was right. You are just a demon-brat." Sakura scowled at him.
Naruto's eyes grew wide, wider than they ever had before. His beloved Sakura-chan had called him the one thing he never thought she would've called him. A demon-brat. Not only that, the look on her face matched that of all the villagers looks he'd seen over the 13 years he'd been alive. Naruto's eyes grew dark. "So she's like that too huh."
"I'm glad you'll be gone. For good. Never ever let me see you again Naruto. If I do, then you're not going to like what'll happen after," Sakura said as she walked away.
Naruto dropped his head and turned around to leave before he was stopped by someone. He looked up and saw a blue haired ninja with his headband covering his left eye and a mask covering the rest of his face. "Kakashi-sensei?" Naruto asked.
"Yo, Naruto. I'm sorry about what happened, and I want you to know, if you ever need me, please, reach out to me."
"Thanks, Kakashi-sensei, but I don't think that'll be a good idea. I don't know what's gonna happen after all." Naruto looked down in sadness. "Well sensei, I better be making my leave now. The hour is almost over," Naruto said as he turned around.
Kakashi looked at him in sadness. "Ok then Naruto. Good luck on your journeys. I hope to see you again," he said as he shuinshined away.
Naruto tried to leave again, but was stopped yet again. "Naruto wait!" Tsunade called.
"Baa-san? Is everything all right? Did my banishment get nullified?" Naruto asked excitedly with hope in his eyes.
"Unfortunately not Naruto." Naruto's eyes immediately lost all that hope and darkened.
"Oh. Well then why are you here?" Naruto asked.
"I forgot to give you this before you left. The Sandaime had left it for you to receive once you had become a chunin or turned sixteen, but I don't think that applies anymore," Tsunade said as she handed Naruto a scroll.
"Do you know what's in it, Baa-san?" Naruto asked, taking the scroll.
"I believe it's about your mother and father and things they left you. But I'm not entirely sure."
Naruto nodded and put the scroll in his bag. "Well, I'll be taking my leave now Baa-san." He turned to walk away and started to leave before he stopped in his tracks. Tsunade tilted her head in confusion.
"Naruto?"
Naruto suddenly turned and ran towards Tsunade and pulled her into a hug. "I'll miss you Baa-san."
Tsunade hugged him back. "Me too gaki. Please be safe," Tsunade said, tears falling from her eyes.
Naruto pulled away and walked away from Tsunade. Once he stepped outside the gates, he never looked back.
