Chapter 27
Lucas was at work his sales for his second book were climbing but Lindsey had high expectations of him and expected alot out of the authors she worked with. Which is why he wanted to do all he could to make this a success. He needed a body of work and this was the start of that.
(Mr. Scott you have a visitor.) The receptionist announced.
(Thank you and remember you can just call me Lucas.) He replied.
Maybe this break from his computer is just what he needed.
Any attempt at promo he wrote sounded desperate and needy even though he was when it came to his success he wanted to come off. Confident and in control.
He left his office surprised at the sight of Clay Evans.
(What can I do for you?) Lucas asked. Remembering now they had never met officially.
(Let's talk inside.) Clay replied.
(Peyton wrote me a letter. She confessed to being pregnant with my children.)
The kids she lead you to believe were yours. She told you I didn't want to be a father.)
(And that was true. But finding out I have sons changes things.)
(I want to get to know them. And be in their life. Have them be apart of mine.) Clay said.
Lucas swallowed hard. Looking back at him.
(I want them to know I'm their dad.) Clay added in.
(I can give them the life they deserve. A life you can't. Despite you're efforts.) Clay explained.
