Chapter 2: The Night of the Comet
I woke up to the sun shining through the curtains of my bedroom window, looking around my room, I realized that I'm still in Mystic Falls, Virginia, I'm still Emma Forbs. How it's possible I don't know, I try to remember how and why I'm still here.
'Am I supposed to change or do something', I thought to myself, looking around the room I saw something shine under the dresser. I walk over to the dresser and pick it up, it's a necklace, the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It has an oval emerald stone on a gold chain.
"I wonder how it ended up there", I say out loud to myself. And put it on the dresser. I look at the clock on my nightstand, 'Shit I really need to get to school'.
Caroline already left, when I got down in the living room. I quickly took my set of Car keys and drove to the High School.
I got in the classroom and took the first empty seat I saw, it was right next to Stefan Salvatore, 'great' I thought to myself.
"Alright Class, let's get started", Mr. Tanner said excitedly.
History with Mr Tanner was as always a waste of time, "How can one person be so boring", I said to Binnie walking out of the classroom with her and Caroline. "I have no idea", Bonnie said, with a small smile.
"I'm confused. Are you psychic or clairvoyant?" Caroline said to Bonnie.
"Technically, Grams says I'm a witch. My ancestors were these really cool Salem witch chicks or something. Grams tried to explain it all, but she was looped on the liquor so I kinda tuned out. Crazy family, yes. Witches? I don't think so."
"That sounds like something you should look more into Bonnie, witches does not sound that crazy, we live in a world where anything can happen", I said with a smile. Trying to make her feel a little better.
"Really, Emma, your beginning to sound like Grams."
"Is that such a bad thing?", I said still with a smile on my face, sounding optimistic.
Emma, Caroline, Bonnie and Elena were sitting outside the Mystic Grill.
"Well, I was talking to Grams, and she said the comet is a sign of impending doom. The last time it passed over Mystic Falls, there was lots of death. So much blood and carnage, it created a bed of paranormal activity." Bonnie said, looking a little bit worried.
"Yeah, and then you poured Grams another shot and she told you about the aliens. So then what", Caroline said, not really caring about what Bonnie said, while she spoke to Elena.
"So then nothing." Elena said.
"You and Stefan talked all night? There was no sloppy first kiss or touchy feely of any kind?" Caroline said, not believing it.
"Caroline, if Elena doesn't want to talk about it, then we won't." I said, trying to stop Caroline before hell breaks loose.
"Come on Elena, spill the beans", Caroline said, bedding to know.
"Nope. We didn't go there. Not even a sloppy first kiss." Elena said while imitating Caroline's voice. "We just talked for hours."
"OK, what is with the blockage? Just jump his bones already! Ok, it's easy. Boy likes girl, girl likes boy, sex!" Caroline said.
I looked over at Bonnie but she just gave me the look 'It's Caroline, what did you expect'
"Profound." Elena said. While standing up.
"Where are you going?" Bonnie said, looking confused.
"Caroline's right. It is easy. If I sit here long enough, I'll end up talking myself out of it instead of doing what I started the day saying what I was going to do." Elena said, determined.
"You really don't have to, just take your time Elena." I said but Elena just walked away.
After the conversion with Bonnie, Caronline and Elena. Caroline and I drove home. I walked up to my room, I looked around to see the necklace still on the nightstand. There was something about that necklace, I just couldn't explain. I decided to put it on, and maybe have Bonnie take a look at it.
"Knock Knock" Caroline said while opening my door.
"Hey, Care"
"I just wanted to see if you want to go, to see the Comet"
"Yeah, I'll be down in a minute" I said to Caroline with a small smile.
Caroline left the room, I looked at the necklace feeling a strange pull to it.
The town square was filled with people, many holding candles. I really just needed to find Bonnie.
"Emma!" I heard Tyler Lockwood behind me, walking through me.
"Tyler, hi" I said, not sounding as pleased to see him.
"I have been looking for you," he said with a smile.
"Look Tyler, this might come to you as a surprise, but I think we need a break. I just don't see this going anywhere. I'm sorry." I said to him, he looked confused at first, but then he looked angry.
"What! Is this because I kissed Vicki, I'm sorry but it just happened."
"What! You kissed Vicki! Um yeah it's totally because of that. Bye Tyler." I just need to get rid of him, what a jerk.
"Bonnie!" I said as I saw Bonnie walk away from Elena.
"Emma, hi," Bonnie said with a smile.
"I need your help, since you said that your Grams thought you were a witch. I just thought you might take a look at this necklace." I said to her while taking the necklace off and handing it to her.
"Really, it's just something my Grams says." She said not that convinced.
"Please, it's just a necklace, no harm can come with that."
Bonnie took the necklace, and closed her eyes. "I see a man wearing a suit, he is talking to a woman, I can't see her face. He tells her that he loved her, and he will always find her, no matter what. He gives her his word." Bonnie says eyes are still closed. I looked at her in shock.
"Really, that's what you saw Bonnie." I said to her, still in shock.
Bonnie opened her eyes, and looked straight at me. "That is crazy, it was like a movie happening before your eyes. Where did you get this Emma?"
"I don't know, I just found it in my room." I told her, it was after all the truth.
She gave me back the necklace. "Be careful, my Grams says that magical artifacts can be dangerous." Bonnie said, looking a little worried.
"I'll be fine, thank you Bonnie. I'll just head home, will you tell Caroline?"
"Yeah, Bye" Bonnie said and walked away.
When I got back to my bedroom, I thought about what Bonnie said. 'I see a man wearing a suit, he is talking to a woman, I can't see her face. He tells her that he loved her, and he will always find her, no matter what. He gives her his word.' WHo could that be, who is the man, talking to the women, and why is that memory connected to the necklace.
I lay in bed, thinking about all the things that are to come, Caroline is going to turn into a Vampire, The Originals, A lot of death. How will I fit into all of it? Will I survive? I'll guess there is just one way to find out.
I think I might go in a different direction, with this story than what I first thought writing this story. I'll find out, after a few chapters.
