I"Eric?" I said as I looked up from the desk. I couldn't believe it's been a year since our twins were born. Kyleigh was a total daddy's girl, and EJ was a momma's boy. My mom and dad watched the kids most of the days, I usually took Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's off. "Hmm?" Eric said looking up. "Hey, are you feeling, Okay?" I said "Yeah... Can we go get some lunch?" "Sure babe. Just let me finish this report, and we can go." He quickly finished the report and took my hand. "Ready?" I smiled and nodded.
Natalie: -Attaches a picture of Kyleigh and EJ fast asleep in the travel tender and a picture of a mess of a living room.- Fast asleep... after playing 'Dauntless' all over...
The kids made up a game called 'Dauntless' which essentially means they'd crawl/Run around making a mess, usually they only played it at home. Eric usually would join in with them, but always cleaned up the mess they made, while I put them to bed or got dinner ready.
Tris: Looks like our house on a daily basis. They are too cute though.
Eric looked over my shoulder, smiling wide. "At least someone else is getting their Dauntless game treatment." I laughed, as we reached the Café. "Hey Tris! Eric! Over here!" Caleb called, as we went over. "Hey." Eric and I sat beside them. "Chris, how are you feeling?" Chris was struggling to feed Annabelle, my niece, who was 8 months old. "Come on Annabelle, sweetie." Chris said, begging. Caleb said "She's exhausted... Annabelle hasn't been sleeping, and usually Chris is up with her..." I said "I'm sorry..."
"Hey Eric, Max wants to see you, and Caleb right away." "Go. I'll stay with Chris..." Eric and Caleb kissed my head, as well as Chris's and Annabelle's, before leaving. "I'm so exhausted Tris..." Chris had tears in her eyes, as she looked to me.
Tris: Hey Max, I'm taking the afternoon off... Chris is exhausted, and I'm going to watch Annabelle, for her so she can sleep.
Max: That's fine. I'm going to send Caleb home early, it might be a good idea for them to get a break overnight.
Tris: That's a great idea! Thanks Max. I'll see you on Monday!
Tris: Hey, Babe. I'll be at home with Annabelle. If you need me.
Eric: No problem, babe.
"Hey Chris, I want you to go home, and sleep. Leave Annabelle, with me, and Eric. We'll keep her overnight, and I will not take no for an answer." "Are you... Oh My God! I love you! You're The BEST sister ever! I'll bring some of her things over!" She ran off while I lifted Annabelle into my arms. "Hi baby girl." She giggled, as I brought her back to mine and Eric's. Once she played, I put her to bed with ease.
When Eric came home, he got dinner going. "Eric... I'm not feeling so good..." I said, as I stood in the kitchen. "Do you think you could be pregnant?" "I think I might be..." I whispered. "We've been a little careless since we got the okay... I'm late... Maybe two months or so? I can't even remember the last time I got the Deadly Sea..." Eric said "Did you check with..." He was cut off by the phone ringing. "Max... Wait WHAT?! Okay, Yeah, I'll meet you there... Will, Uriah and Zeke will meet us. I'll send one of them back here, if needed. I'll leave now." He hung up, before kissing me. "I'll be in touch soon. Stay here at Dauntless." He left. I picked up Annabelle and fed her before giving her a bath. And letting her play, when there was a knock. I went to the door, opening it. "Mommy!" The twins ran in hugging me. "Eric told me to bring them home, and to stay here to get some sleep." I whispered thanks. "Annabelle's safe. You go and get some sleep." He nodded, hugging me tight. "You may live to regret offering." He teased, causing me to laugh. I put the kids to bed, before I got a text.
Eric: Tris. Confidential. Get Caleb, Chris, Annabelle, Kyleigh, EJ, Shauna, and Marlene. Meet me, Will, Uriah, and Zeek at the train. Do Not ask why. I'll explain in person...
I packed a bag of important things, secured it to my back before getting the slings, and getting all three kids in them, before running to Caleb's. "Caleb Chris. We need to go." They ran with me, while we picked up Marlene and Shawna, before getting to the train stop. The train just arrived. "Run." We took off. Shawna and Marlene swung in, before Caleb and Chris. I saw Eric's body against the door. I couldn't believe I was doing this with three kids strapped to me. Eric's arm caught my waist, and hoisted me in, without a struggle. "You three alright?" He asked. I nodded, as I looked to the kids. All three sleeping peacefully against me. "Sit." Eric said, as we sat close. "Abnegation betrayed us all. They're planning on destroying Dauntless... Starting with our kids, before going to the compound." I looked angry. "Shh. I got them out, while they were distracted. Once I figured it out, I sent the text. Max helped diverge the plan. He wants us to hide out in Amity, He already gave me a letter of clarence, and said to stay there till he comes for us." Eric finished.
I nodded, still feeling numb. Caleb moved close to me. "Our parents were leading it?" Eric nodded. "Unfortunately, yes... I'm so sorry... I turned a blind eye to all the red flags... I put not only our children, in danger... But us..." I handed Annabelle over to her parents, before I put a hand on Eric's cheek. "I ignored them too. I set this up..." I showed Eric, a feed from the week. "Damn... I never..." I looked to him. "Neither did I..." "Once we get home, I want Max to babysit... He's naming me and Caleb co head leaders." I said "Eric, Caleb, I'm so proud of you!" Eric said "Which does supply a bit more flexibility, on occasions." I smiled, as Chris curled up holding Annabelle close, into Caleb's arms. "We can figure this all out... But isn't this considered cowardly? Hiding in Amity versus defending Dauntless?" Shawna was curled up in Zeke's arms, and Marlene was curled up in Uriah's. Will was keeping an eye out. "It's Max's orders. He isn't announcing any retirement plans, as a precaution." I nodded.
By the morning We were in Amity and got off the train. "Here let me take EJ." Eric said as he took EJ into his arms. "Daddy." He giggled. I carried Kyleigh as we walked over to Johana. "Dauntless soldiers, what can I do for you?" Eric handed her the note, which she read quickly. "Ahh, okay then. Follow me and we can get you set up in your quarters. We followed, as she went through the rules, which we agreed to. "Alright here are your rooms, please make yourselves at home." "Well, this is cozy..." Shawna said. Our room was probably one they used for initiates, because there were a bunch of beds, but the space was open. "We'll have to make it work. Okay?" Eric said as I sat on one of the beds. Chris sat on the bed as Eric continued. "I know, this is different than we're used to... Okay? But we just have to tough it out until we get word. Just take it easy with the fighting."
"Seriously? This is going to flop badly." Marlene began. "Yeah, I mean No offense, but your wife is the easiest women to piss off." I didn't give Eric a chance to say anything before I said "Yeah, well, it's as Eric said. We have to make it work until we get word it's safe. So, we all just have to suck it up, and deal with it. It's only for a little while." Eric smiled to me. "We're going to figure this out."
Eric: Max, We're safe. All of us.
Max: Good. We're trying to calm the situation, but it's not working out. Andrew and Natalie are MIA. But I got word from Peter that they're at Dauntless. The Dauntless at home are fighting. I'll update soon.
"Alright. So, let's go get some breakfast." Eric said, as I shook my head. "I'm not hungry..." Eric frowned, "The rest of you go on." They left, "Ej, Kylie, come here to Uncle Caleb." They ran to their uncle, causing me and Eric to whisper thank you. Eric sat beside me. "Tris, you need to eat." I said "I'm not hungry. Okay? I miss home..." Eric gave a small smile, before saying "We'll be home soon."
It only took a few days, but we were finally able to go home. "Beatrice." I heard my mother and Father's voice, as we entered. "Eric, Caleb get the kids out of here." I dragged them to the knife training center. "Tris what are you doing?" Eric said, as he came over. "Stand back Eric, I don't want to hurt you." I threw two knives at my parents, hitting them right in the chest. "THAT'S FOR HURTING MY CHILDREN." The life drained out of them fast. "Damn Tris... Remind me not to piss you off." Eric teased.
I had Will and Uriah drag the bodies out, before throwing them into the chasm. "Training tomorrow. You ready to take on training." I nodded, as we got ready. "Shh babies... Mommy and daddy are right here." I whispered as Kyleigh screamed her lungs out, which in turn caused EJ to scream. I picked her up rocking her, while Eric rocked EJ. "I wonder if they're coming down with something..." I said as we finally got them to sleep. "I'm sure they're okay... I'll get them checked out tomorrow." I smiled as we laid down. In the morning, we got ready as Eric said "Good luck today babe." He kissed me before we ate breakfast, and I went to the pit. The first few days were physical. Today, was knife throwing. One of the new initiates, it was one who looked like Four, but it wasn't, it was his younger brother. "I hear you like it rough. Let me show you a good time." He said touching my ass. I elbowed him off. "INITIATE. Keep your hands to yourself and keep your mouth SHUT!" I ordered. Caleb was at my side. They continued throwing knives.
The same initiate came over, shoving me against the wall and kissing me. I Knee'd him off me. "Go stand in front of the target!" I said, as he did, nervously. "Caleb, give me four knives." Caleb handed them to me, as I threw 3 of them missing him on purpose. The fourth one I threw, and it hit him right in the nuts. "OW! BITCH!" He groaned, as he crumbled to the ground in pain, holding his nuts. I turned to the other initiates, unknowingly, that Eric was amongst them. "Let that be a warning, to all initiates who think they can challenge me or even make a move on a leader. Anyone who even touches me will be punished. We're done for the day. GET OUT! Peter, Caleb get him to the infirmary Now!" Everyone dispersed, as Eric came over. "What the hell happened to that guy?" I slammed the knife against the counter. "I SAID YOUR DISMISSED!" ""Tris?" Eric said, touching my hand gently, causing my eyes to snap up to his. "Sorry..." "What happened? Chris called me saying I should get down here..." I said "That Four look-a-like is already working my last damn nerve." Eric frowned, as he sat us in a couple of chairs. "What happened?" "He's been making advances towards me. Today he crossed the line twice. He slapped my ass, then kissed me. I Knee'd him off of me before making him stand in front of the target and I threw knives at him... Probably made him incapable of having kids. Eric, I'm so sorry!" Eric caressed my cheek, before saying "Shh, I'm not mad at you. You're my wife. I am your husband... Okay? How do you want to handle this?" "He won't survive initiation, But let's give him a chance. I don't want to train him alone... I want Caleb, or Peter at my side at all times during training." Eric said "I'll take care of it all."
I smiled as we went to eat in the café. "Tris... Can I talk to you?" I felt a hand on my shoulder, causing me to jump up and turning to the person I jumped to my feet as the Four look-a-like tried to rasp an apology. Eric gave him a look and he ran off. Little did I know that wasn't the last time I'd see him. I was walking by the chasm, heading to the pit when he knocked me off, I grabbed the bridge tightly. "ERIC!" I screeched, as I tried to pull myself up. "CALEB!" "Tris!?" I heard Caleb shout as he approached. He knelt down, grabbing my hand, and pulling me up, as I cried. "She just tripped." The Four look-a-like said, as Caleb leaned me against the wall before he stood. "I know that's not true, and you know it." Caleb said as he took the guy by the shirt collar. I was crying against the wall.
