Rose did promise to break up with Emmett. And she wanted to do it. But Emmett was not in the mood to talk very much when she reached the subject of their relationship. He almost choked her to death when Rosalie started talking, so she let him fuck her one last time.

But days and days passed, and she could not find the guts and courage to break up with him. And he was getting more physical every time. He choked her and yanked her hair during sex. Emmett was getting very violent, and Rose didn't know what to do. What if she asked to break up and he decided he was not okay with it; would he beat her up?

The other day, Emmett asked for a soda and she had forgotten to buy so he -quite literally- pushed her down the stairs of the basement.

She could not walk for a whole hour.

In addition to Emmett, she had to deal with Seth. Sweet Seth. Her only true friend. He was concerned she was not answering his calls or texts. He wanted to see her, but she was in no shape to hang out with him. He would know with one look at her. Rose only used long sleeves these days and a lot of makeup, but there was only so much makeup that could cover. Rosalie decided to invite him over because if she didn't do it herself, she had the feeling that Seth would just show up on her doorstep.

He came in looking like his usual adorable self.

"Good to see you're actually alive" He tried to joke.

"Well, I am," Rose laughed. She was already feeling better. "Would you like something to drink? I have soda." She'd learned her lesson and now had a full stock of soda. He nodded and followed her to the kitchen. With a soda in hand, they went to the couch.

"Something happening, Rose?" Seth said as he played with the can's tab. "You don't answer any of my texts or calls anymore and you honestly look sick. Are you okay?"

She sighed as tears filled her eyes.

Seth went into panic mode "Oh, god. Did I say something wrong? I'm so sorry, Rose."

Christ, he was just so adorable.

Rose laughed and tried to discreetly wipe her tears. "No, Seth. You're fine. It's just– It's been stressful lately."

"Tell you what," Seth suddenly jumped in his seat from excitement "Let's go out for some dinner."

She started to shake her head "Seth–"

"Come one, it will make you feel better. When was the last time you went out?" Rose hated him because he was right. And she had trouble saying no to Seth. Puppy eyes and all. She laughed in disbelief "Fine."

They ended up going to a small diner where the food was good and the company better.

She loved being with Seth, he was almost like the sibling she never had. Or the best friend she never had. Obviously, Seth didn't know that he was her best friend. It would be embarrassing if they had only known each other for a few months. But he was kind and gentle. Rose didn't know many people with Seth's qualities. His heart was so pure and true, and his soul was so innocent. Rose really hoped her flaws and blemishes wouldn't influence him.

Seth –as usual– dominated the conversation. He only navigated happy and fun topics for her sake. He was trying to make her forget her troubles for a while, and it was working. Time flew by. She didn't even notice when Bella Swan and Jacob Black entered the diner. Seth immediately waved their way.

"Hey, Jacob!" Seth grinned from ear to ear "How are you, Bella?"

"Hey, kid." Jacob only acknowledged Seth. He did not spare a glance in Rosalie's way but that was expected.

Bella was his usual shy self and only smiled tightly at them.

"What are you doing here? You were supposed to be helping your dad fix the truck." He smiled and shook his head in disbelief.

"Rose was feeling down so I decided that maybe going out will cheer her up."

That got Jacob to turn to look at her. He clenched his jaw and tried –and failed– to smile. "Seth, can I talk to you for a moment."

"Sure–"

"In private." Jacob opened the diner door and with the ring of a bell, he was gone.

"I don't know what has gotten into him" Seth touched her shoulder in reassurance "Sorry."

After Seth went after Jacob, Bella, and Rosalie were left alone. Yikes. Should she invite her to sit down? Now that she thought about it, they've never talked. Like at all. "Would you like to–"

"I'm going to be over there" Bella didn't even look at her before going to sit at another table, far in the corner.

So much for trying to be nice.

Seth was back. Only the usual easy smile on his face was missing. Jacob was hot on his heels. "Seth, come one." Seth rolled his eyes and started to pick up his jacket and reached for his pocket to find his wallet. And with a couple of twenties on the table, he said "We're going, Rose."

Right. Did Jacob say something about her? What did he possibly have said? He knew nothing about her. Nothing.

"Seth, don't–" Jacob warned. He was quite intimidating. He was a lot taller and bigger than Seth and her. She needed to look up to look him in the eye. She feared that he was about to get violent with Seth.

"I will not hear another word, Jacob" Seth pointed at Jacob "Leave us alone."

Rose blinked and they were inside of Sam's truck. They did not talk for a few minutes.

"What did he say, Seth?" He started the truck and said nothing.

"Seth." She warned.

He shook his head and sighed "Really stupid stuff."

Fork's streets were dark in the moonlight.

She snorted sarcastically "I don't read minds, you know."

Rose did not even know what she would do if whatever Jacob said affected her friendship with Seth. And she knew for a fact Seth took Jacob's advice. Rose would even dare to say that in a way he idolized Jacob. He always talked about him. Seth looked up at him.

His knuckles turned white on the steering wheel "Some shit to get me away from you."

She patiently waited for him to continue. Her heart wanted to run out of her chest with the mere prospect of losing Seth. The only silver lining in her life. "He said that you and your friends at school made Bella's life impossible. Something about a girl in your friend group doing everything she could to separate Edward and her. I don't understand how that has anything to do with me or us"

Rose blinked at nothing. She's never even talked to Bella. She also didn't care about her relationship with Edward in any way.

"He also said that your boyfriend deals drugs or something. I mean, you don't even have a boyfriend" He laughed disbelievingly "I don't know where he's getting his information. I mean, it's ridiculous!"

Granted, she didn't know that Emmett dealt drugs. Christ.

"Seth–"

"Oh and," He shook his head and chuckled. "He said that your mom was a hooker and that you were on your way to becoming one too. Utterly ridiculous." He huffed.

How cruel. Those words stabbed her in the heart. She swallowed and turned to look at the window only to find out they were at her house.

Rosalie tried to hide her ugly tears because maybe what he was saying was true. She was trash. Her boyfriend was a drug dealer, her friends were bullies and her mom was a dancer. What did that say about her? All of the people in her life were trash and she was no different.

"I'm sorry" Rose sobbed "I have to go."

"Rose" Seth's eyes widened in panic "I'm so sorry for what he said but I don't believe him one bit."

"No, Seth. What Jacob said is true." She could not even see with all of the ugly tears blocking her vision "I do have a boyfriend. It's complicated and ugly but Emmett is still my boyfriend. I didn't know that he– that he dealt drugs. But, God. I'm so stupid."

"Rose–"

"And yes, my mom is a hooker. And I have tried so hard to be the opposite of my mother but maybe I'm just like her." She sobbed "I let people use me for sex and I stay in relationships even if it's killing me."

"Use you for sex–?"

"I understand if you don't want to talk to me ever again" She hiccuped "I do."

"I'm so sorry, Rose. I never meant to make you feel like this." He reached for her hand. Christ, he was so sweet. She really didn't deserve his sweet words. He ran his fingers through his head and sighed "I don't care about any of it, Rose. You're my friend and I've grown to love your company. You're amazing, Rose. You are."

His eyes were full of his truth. Sweet Seth, always wearing his heart on his sleeve. It only made her sob harder. He got out of the car to open her door and hug her tightly. Her heart hurt from such love. She could feel his love for her. She invited him in after she calmed herself. They ordered pizza and watched a movie about zombies. Not that she paid any attention to the movie, but Seth was a balm that cured her heart of distress.

As she placed a quilt over Seth sleeping form she tried to understand why someone as pure as Seth sought her friendship. She was so tainted from life, she had nothing to bring to the table in the friendship.

Maybe she agreed a little with Jacob.

Seth was worthy of so much more.

It took a total of twenty-four hours for Jacob Black to come banging on her door. Rose didn't need to look at the peephole to know who was knocking. She had been expecting him anyway.

Rosalie unlocked the door to find the one and only Jacob Black in all of his troublemaker glory. He only missed the black leather jacket and a motorcycle to be a complete cliché. She had been expecting him, yes. But her heart still fluttered when she took one look at him. Her heart did not understand or care that he hated her. Christ, wasn't he handsome?

She took a breath to calm herself "Can I help you?"

Jacob narrowed his eyes as he ran a hand through his ink-black hair and muttered, "Can I come in?"

In a blink of an eye, Jacob was pacing swiftly through her living room.

"Do you want a drink–"

"I'll be quick," Jacob's eyes zeroed in on her with a newfound purpose "Seth is a really good kid. He's like the brother I never had."

She blinked and the door closed with a resounding thud.

"I don't want you anywhere near him." He warned with a finger.

"I–"

"You're all he talks about. Rose this and Rose that. And, Oh, do you know that Rose this…"

Rose smirked. "Are you here because you're jealous?" She couldn't help the little giggle that came out of her mouth.

"You're bad news. I don't want Seth to be friends with you or people like you."

She gasped, smirking long gone from her face, "People like me?"

He shook his head "You know what I'm talking about, Blondie."

Blondie. What a fucking asshole. "Please enlighten me." Rose crossed her arms defensively. She wanted to punch him in that stupid chiseled jaw of his.

"Emmett deals drugs, the whole fucking town towns know it–"

"I'm new in town, scoundrel, remember?" The only sound she could hear was her own heart pounding furiously in her chest. Begging for release.

"And your friends are the worst people on the planet, making Bella's life impossible–"

"They are not my friends" She pushed him on the chest. Of course that didn't faze him a bit. He continued to ignore her fists pounding in his chest. And, Christ, he was so tall her neck hurt to look at him.

"And your mom is a hooker, I bet you're too–"

She slapped him across the face. His face turned to the left, hand going to touch his now red cheek. The surprise was clear on Jacob's face.

That was the last straw. He could not come here, to her home to shame Rose and her mother. How dare he?

"Leave," She said at once, pointing to the closed door, trying to hide the tears forming in her eyes.

"Rosalie–"

She hiccup. She hated crying in front of people, her voice shook as she said, "Please leave, I beg you."

He touched her hand but she snatched it from his hold and left for her room. He could leave, he could not leave, she didn't care.

Author's note

Thank you for reading! It's actually my very first fic in the Twilight fandom. I know this pairing is not really common, but I can't explain my love for these two! They have so much potential, and I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I didn't have written this. I'm glad you're enjoying reading this as much as I enjoyed writing this.

Comments and reviews feed my soul, leave one if you can!
