Ela and Elijah were greeted upstairs with cheering from everyone, Ela felt a little embarrassed suddenly, but they were so cool about it, the women praising her on her moves, the men happy she had a good time, and everyone in accordance that the man that had grabbed her was a total bastard. She thanked Elijah again for the dances and the help with the offender and gave him a light peck on the cheek, he reddened a little and went back to his position on the door despite many invites from everyone to stay, more likely than not declining since it had been too much excitement already.
They all went back to chatting about dancing, and how the pub was so great, and Ela mentioned, "It's such a bummer you guys can't go downstairs to enjoy the full experience" They all looked a bit sad at the fact but Steven considered Ela's words and excused himself for a moment, "It's alright, if it were darker, like clubs where only a few colorful lights were on we could, it's common or us that this happens, usually we meet in someone's house for drinks or if the boys' hair has grown from the show's haircut we can go pubbing somewhere a bit more discreet and not be recognized much" said Sophie, "well, that's good to know, that you don't have to restrain from everything all the time" stated Ela with a smile.
All of a sudden, they could all hear Steven speaking again downstairs, so everyone moved to the balcony to get a good look "Alright chaps, since we're all having such a good time here, for tonight we'll take the pub experience to a different place" with that being said, some staff members turned the regular lights off and turned some flashy colorful ones on "Everyone enjoy!" Steve shouted, and the music blasted the speakers again.
Upstairs everyone joined the clubs' cheers and looked at one another, Ela said "Well c'mon! Let's dance the night away!" Everyone took a last gulp from their drinks, let go of their jackets, Paul motioned to tell Elijah to join them but this time he declined and said he'd be watching them from the stairs, no doubt taking care of them all. Everyone moved to the door, in an adrenaline burst from excitement Ela grabbed Cillian by the hand guiding him downstairs, and now was his time to blush from the motion, thankfully the lights were off, so no one noticed.
They passed by the DJ's stand and Ela stooped a moment not letting go of Cillian's hand, he got close to the man's ear and said something to him, he lend a pen and paper and she wrote something down quickly smiling and then thanked him, walking away to the dancefloor while Cillian looked at her quizzically as well as the others.
-"What was that about?" Hardy asked loudly.
-"I requested three songs, let's danceeeeee" she replied joyfully. They all chuckled, and then she let go of Cillian's hand, somehow, he immediately missed her touch but didn't show it, everyone gathered and started dancing as soon as the first song played.
Poppin' bottles in the ice, like a blizzard
When we drink, we do it right gettin' slizard
Sippin' sizzurp in my ride (in my ride) like Three 6
Now I'm feelin' so fly like a G6
Everyone was having a blast, no doubt Ela's song choices were gonna be good, Sophie and Natasha dragged her with them to dance so she joined the ladies having a blast but every so often she'd glace to Cillian trying to disguise her looks as much as possible, not wanting to be caught by him or anyone for that matter. She rolled her glasses up to her hair again and felt the music flow through her veins, they all danced great, but Cillian thought Ela had a certain energy that made her look better, she was sexy, then had silly movement moments that made them all laugh, so spontaneous, she felt like a breath of fresh air, her youth and energy felt refreshing.
Paul distracted Cillian from it and got him dancing with Joe and Hardy who were having the time of their lives wearing their shades to look a bit more covered, a good idea he thought, being there all together it couldn't hurt trying to disguise a bit. Even while dancing with the guys he kept on looking at her frequently, and from time to time he noticed she was looking at him too, she's something else he thought.
By the time the second hit, everyone was definitely in the mood to party.
They all gathered in a circle.
Work it, make it, do it
Makes us harder, better, faster, stronger
N-n-now that that don't kill me
Can only make me stronger
I need you to hurry up now
'Cause I can't wait much longer
I know I got to be right now
'Cause I can't get much wronger
Man, I've been waiting all night now
That's how long I been on ya
"Lassie knows her tunes chaps" Hardy screamed and Ela howled happily.
"Chummmmm she's great! bring her over anytime!" said Joe to Paul, Nat, and Hardy agreeing loudly while dancing. Feeling the music pumping made everyone feel alive.
Ela had noticed she was in a gazing contest with Cillian, thank God for the dancing to blame it for her redness. Finally, all the alcohol in her system made her walls come down and then she really did start to dance, her neurons restraining her just by a thread but also letting her pull her best moves. The group cheered on, and Joe offered a hand to pull her to the center of their little circle, her hips swaying and feet moving so rhythmically every step looked calculated but seemed natural at the same time. This time her movements were not enticing but somehow, she made them look sexy. Cillian was entranced by her, always able to move flawlessly and smiling purely through the song, as if she didn't know how good she looked, how effortless her dancing seemed, and how for their own reasons everyone in the Garrison either wanted to kill her, kiss her or be her.
Joe, Sophie, and Hardy noticing how Cillian followed Ela's every move looked at each other smiling but again dismissed it to not break the spell, they only smiled and were grateful he was having a good time for a change.
Then the third song made its way onto the dance floor, and that's when Natasha decided she had had enough, if everyone was not going to do anything about it, she would. Everyone could feel there was something special about tonight and if life needed a little push to happen, she'd gladly give it.
She pulled Joe and Hardy to dance with her close by enough for it to look innocent and made a look at Paul to move away with Sophie leaving Ela and Cillian closer together. She was sneaky but her intentions were good, she was in her path to ensure everyone had a night to remember.
I feel so close to you right now
It's a force field
I wear my heart upon my sleeve, like a big deal
Your love pours down on me
Surround me like a waterfall
And there's no stopping us right now
I feel so close to you right now
Both Ela and Cillian noticed they were closer together, the group had broken away a bit, they were all close tho, so in their minds they decided not to make a big deal out of it and carried on dancing.
It was the perfect song, the perfect night, as they continued dancing the less they noticed their companions looking at them, being transported through the music, Cillian was about an inch or two taller than her, and when Ela decided to look up straight at his eyes for once she didn't feel intimidated, maybe it was the booze, maybe the fact that it was dark, but she felt relaxed, it felt good.
Cillian felt nervous but relaxed at the same time, she was calming, soothing even, he decided to hold her gaze and he finally discovered she did have some greenish specs on the coffee of her eyes, he loved it, the purple on them too, finally being close enough to dive on her perfumed self, he was happy, after so long feeling dreadful, he felt happy.
Maybe it was the drinks, the surroundings, the music, or her, but he felt daring; he took her hands and placed them around his neck, she did so and they danced closer, he closed his eyes and swayed with her singing the lyrics, she thought he looked incredible, a bit sweaty, lightened, carefree, she was happy, so happy in that moment, she wished it could last forever, her anxiety had also been quiet for hours now, she was living the moment. Living her best life. she closed her eyes too and felt her belly get tingly.
Cillian spoke after a few seconds.
-"We did get to dance" Ela opened her eyes softly, he was smiling, she blushed but this time she didn't care.
-"We did, I'm glad" she said smiling too while removing her arms from his neck and taking his hands in hers, intertwining their fingers and raising them while dancing and allowing them to have even less space between them, but then she remembered he was married, What am I doing?! This is wrong, we're too close, I'm a fool. When the realization hit her smile faded, she looked embarrassed and lowered their arms Cillian immediately noticed.
-"What just happened?" he asked looking at her, but she diverted his eyes, something's definitely wrong he panicked.
-"Sorry, I just think this is wrong, you're married, and we've been behaving inappropriately" she said honestly this time looking up at him.
Cillian understood she wasn't aware of the circumstances and explaining them right now could prove to be difficult, but she was letting go of him and he felt a lump in his chest, he didn't want to let go of her, but he still couldn't find a simple way of explaining it all, nonetheless he tried.
-"I can't explain a lot of things right now, but believe me when I tell you she wouldn't care if she saw us dancing right now, and that's all we're doing, dancing" to Ela there was a lot he was not saying, and this time it did feel important for her to know since she was involved, but looking at his eyes he seemed truthful, god I hope this is not acting was all she thought before returning to their dance, trying to enjoy it as much as before but she still felt weird, and then she considered his wording, saying they were only dancing, it was true, but somehow for her it felt like so much more, maybe she was getting carried away, they were just dancing and it was normal that for him it was just that, she understood but for a moment she had believed it was more than that, something different for both.
A few feet away the rest of the group felt something had happened and were worried, it seemed like when the song ended Ela would leave and leave sad. They looked at each other not knowing what to do.
-"Got it! I'll request a song" Sophie said hopefully.
-"Is that really going to help? seems like her mood is really down, and he doesn't look much better either" Joe said.
-"Hey! do not underestimate the power of music" Nat stated very confidently, although she also thought it had to be a pretty outstanding song for the mood to be recovered.
-"Then you better tell them to turn the volume all the way up" Hardy said, "It has to reach the Queen's ears if we're gonna accomplish something here" Everyone agreed. Sophie ran to the DJ requesting the song, Steven telling him it would have to be as loud as possible, so at the risk of leaving everyone deaf for the night, the DJ turned the speakers up.
Ela was not feeling great anymore, after the song was over, she'd say her goodbyes, it had been amazing, but it was time to return to the real world to face that she was being childish and naive, this was a one-night event, and she'd have to put her feet on solid ground soon enough, it was time.
Cillian felt Ela losing her energy and becoming fixated on something, a bad thought more likely than not, surely she couldn't shake the feeling of him being married and thinking she was doing something wrong, acting improperly or something like that, he wished he knew what to say to lighten her mood, explain everything was alright, how happy he was in her company, how good they got along, but he just couldn't articulate a sentence, he was feeling out of sorts too. Suddenly he saw Sophie and Steven a few feet away running and talking to the DJ who talked to some of his sound mates and then another tune came to life.
Ela looked around, that song, oh god it's so beautiful, Coldplay could never go wrong, it was so loud, she felt the tune brushing off the sadness in her chest, she lighted up. At that moment she realized something, sure, she'd have to go back to reality, but that was then and this was now, so she recovered and took Cillian's hand smiling up at him, he lit up immediately too, and looked at her lovingly. Both got close and sang the lyrics from the heart.
She said, where'd you wanna go?
How much you wanna risk?
I'm not lookin' for somebody
With some superhuman gifts
Some superhero
Some fairy-tale bliss
Just something I can turn to
Somebody I can kiss
I want something just like this
Everyone cheered, Sophie had saved the night. Music was powerful indeed. When the chorus hit everyone on the club was jumping and hugging. Hardy had been right, it was so loud, everyone singing too, it could be heard for blocks on end, that's what magic is made of simple moments like that, where for a moment there's not an unhappy soul.
They were all so joyful, the group gathered again, and everyone danced and jumped and sang to the lyrics, it was a beautiful song, it matched the situation perfectly. Seeing Cillian smile was a joy for everyone, he had been so down the last few months, drowning in work, having so many sleepless nights, not wanting to talk at all, constantly worrying but trying to show a brave face for everyone, seeing him calm and sane made them all feel that although the night's developments had been unexpected, it was all they needed. All he needed.
