The screams of the men could be heard as the beasts climbed, over and over again The wall had broken itself apart and shaken the invading creatures only for more of their kind to follow their predecessor's example and start to climb.

The men of the Night's Watch fought bravely as the twisted abominations that had appeared beyond the wall forced their way through either by flying, climbing, or digging their way into the wall itself.

Yet the beats were not alone as the armies of the Free Folk and Giants that had been conquered by the knights that called themselves Players fought alongside the abominations.

Ravens and riders were sent away as the men of the watch desperately tried to keep the invaders away.

The men of the Watch would never have known if anyone heard their call for air, or if they heard it but believed the wall too well to be lost and chose to strengthen the realm before the invaders arrived.

Yet as the sun rose and the invasion ended the new masters of the wall sat upon their new thrones and chose to take their place as the new guards of the realm.

As for the men of the Nighs Watch, they were all forced to kneel before the leaders of the Players and forced to swear that they would never raise their weapons against any Player.

The men of the Watch were confused as they believed the Players wanted to invade the Seven Kingdoms but the Guild leaders simply laughed at the thought, as they had seen what was beyond the wall and didn't wish that fate on anyone.

And so the men of the night's watch were ordered to stand and head to the top of the wall and see something that they might never see again.

The men watched with wide eyes and their breaths held as an island floated in the sky and lowered itself to the ground, the men watched as the mountain placed itself just beyond the wall.

It was there that the beasts and giants headed to, the men watched as the Free Folk looked to the Players for guidance, as they had always tried to cross the wall, but were now being offered something just as good.

The Players simply said that they were free to choose, but if they went any further, then they would not help the Wildlings\ free folk anymore.

As the men of the Night Watch witnessed the Free Folk\ Wildlings begin to enter the mountain they began to notice certain oddities that could be seen even from where they stood.

Massive scars had been carved into the side of it, and craters that could only be compared to the holes made when the rocks of the catapults destroyed the walls of a castle.

"What had these people seen?" the men asked themselves silently before the sounds of children laughing made them turn and what they found, was something that most of them believed that they would never see gain.

Women and children, both of the Players who wore the capes and armors that were adorned with the sigils of their houses played alongside the free folk's children.

The women who were either their mothers or caretakers conversed amongst themselves without a care, while the men who had invaded the wall and forced its defenders to their knees began to repair whatever damages their attacks had caused.

It was clear to the men of the watch that these people didn't consider them a threat, even though all of them could draw their swords, hammers, and axes and kill everyone they laid their eyes on.

But the watch silently chose not to,, they would keep their oaths, and would wait for help to come before they would rise against their conquerors.

They waited for hours, that turned to days, they waited for weeks, then months.

They waited through the screams of the women who gave birth and the cries of the infants who saw nothing but the cold blue sky through their windows.

They waited for three years even as recruits for the Night's Watch arrived and were forced to take the Night Watch's Oath as well as the oath that they would never strike at any player.

As the last of the men sheath his swords and accepts that help will never come, the wall finally begins its new age as the wall that separates the magical land beyond from the rest of the seven kingdoms.

Its new lords and kings were good men even if they had invaded, it was time for them to learn how to work alongside these men and women who seemed to always desire to learn something new.

These men from beyond the wall had a hunger that fed upon as many books and scrolls as the library could hold, yet they were respectful to the old ways, as they didn't force change to happen and allowed it to happen on its own.

The sounds of the servant's children running down the halls before they were scolded by one of his men and ordered to leave the area could be heard through the door.

He struggled to keep himself from smiling, How many years had it been since he enjoyed hearing such things?

The sounds of children playing, before they were scolded by one of the men or one of the women was a luxury that he had taken for granted and now he was hearing it again, in a place that wasn't meant for either.

"What's that?" the captain asks the Maester.

"Books that the Players have grated us describing the various creatures within the mountain." the old maester answers him

"They said that we should keep an open mind." the maester added before he grabbed the hard black cover and opened the book.

The first thing that he noticed was the image of a dragon followed by several others, beneath them were the descriptions of what they ate, where to find them, and more importantly how to kill them.

Out of instinct, he grabbed a handful of pages and moved them just to see what he would find and he found the image of a creature that could only be described as a devil standing over a door.

Gleaming Eyes was the creature's name and it was described as one of the castle's protectors, a creature who could only leave its domain if something truly horrifying attacked the mountain.

Yet beneath the creature's description was something that shouldn't have been there.

Someone had recently written about how the beast had joined its kin during the war with the ice kingdom.

Te thought that creatures such as this one had been forced to leave their domain to fight off a threat was something that terrified him.

He was about to hand the book over to the maester so that the man could hand him a detailed report before he noticed that at the very end of the book were what looked like pages that had recently been added to it.

He hesitantly closed the book flipped it over and silently hoped that his fears were misplaced.

Yet his fears were confirmed when he opened the book once again and found himself looking at the picture of a man who was covered in ice, whose rotting flesh had stopped decomposing as it had completely frozen in place.

The creature's eyes could no longer be called Human, but there was a cold intelligence to them, one that knew not of mercy.

"A White Walker," he said to himself, his voice grim from the realization that the very monsters that the Night's Watch had been created to protect the realm from were still alive and had fought the players.

Not only that the same creatures had forced the Players to run away and attack the wall.

The image that followed was that of something he knew too well, it was the picture of one of the children of the Forest, both pictures described how to find both creatures and how to kill them.

"I want a full report as soon as possible, I don't want my men entering that place and dying because they stepped on something," he said to Maester who nodded and began to read where he had stopped before he had entered the man study.
