She remembers a beach.

Kitty sat with her knees up to her chest, arms wrapped around them tightly. Were it not for Jean, she wouldn't be sitting by the sidelines watching her dick of an ex make out with Rogue in a swimsuit a few sizes too small.

At least she was allowed to call a friend. Not that anyone would've objected after last week's business on Krakoa.

She turned to see him there, sitting in a position that mimicked her own, and she smiled. The strange feeling of isolation written on his face, the way his shoulders pressed together, the fact that everyone else was yards away, leaving them alone in the corner of the sand, the two outcasts. That was just who they were.

The losers.

She bumped into him playfully and his expression melted into a sweet smile. He draped an arm over her shoulders as she lay her head on his collar.

"This is definitely better than my normal weekend plans," he finally said. Kitty hummed, paying less attention to his voice and more to the feeling of his sharp collarbone pressing into her cheek.

"You mean geeking out over math homework and beating up your lame villains?"

"I don't have lame villains," he pouted with a blush. To that, Kitty just laughed.

"Talking about the lamp post or the vibrator?"

"I'll have you know that Electro is a most-wanted maybe-mutant working for the Kingpin himself."

"Well, it's a step up from Ringer."

Peter gently shifted himself, tilting her chin towards him with one hand and smiling into her eyes. "You love beating up my lame villains."

His touch was soft, but warm; a surge of electricity screaming between them. Kitty smiled back as she began to lean into him.

"Maybe. Only when it's with you."

Their lips met in the middle.

"Ms. Pryde?"

Kitty rubbed her neck and shook her head, doing her best to ignore the giggles from other students around her. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted MJ stifling a chuckle as Peter awkwardly stared at her. She sent him a small glance before sitting up straight and grabbing her pencil, a blush lighting up both of their faces at the slightest eye contact.

"Sorry," she halfheartedly replied, mind slowly phasing away from happier times long past, from singing seas and innocent smiles. "I'm here now."

I'm honestly blown away at the lack of interest in this pairing. Sure, it didn't last long and had a shitty (very forced and out of character) ending and all, but it was still a really well written canonical relationship between two of the most popular characters from what is arguably to this day the most popular Marvel elseworlds universe. I really like how natural their dialogue feels throughout their entire stint together. It feels like how real introverted teenagers with real self-esteem problems would desperately try to connect with each other despite their complete inability to. They feel like an actual couple with awkward yet charming interactions and not just the plot-driven, perfect relationships present in most comics. Just one glimpse at USM Annual 1 or the Krakoa arc would tell you all you need to know.

Anyways, I don't know how often I'll update this but I will update this, for the two or three of you that care. Thanks for sticking around and I hope you enjoy
