IMPORTANT NOTE: i have decided NOT TO MAKE JAY A NINJA! i want to just to keep her a dino ranger. now the stone she got in the base will have a huge role to play in her story.
This chapter starts four years later and leads right into dino thunder.
Four Years Later...
"Ryan Mitchell get up out of bed or i will drag you out!" Jaylynn Mitchell yelled from the kitchen.
Its been four years since the demons were defeated. Jaylynn still lived in their family home with her Brother who became a full time fireman while her sister worked as a paramedic. Their Father was Chief at the same fire department. Jaylynn was about to turn 17 in a coiple of days.
"Morning to you to grumpy". Ryan grumbled walking into the kitchen.
"I am not grumpy you were the one who wanted me to wake you up at 9:00 AM so consider it done". She told him with a grin. "What are you up to today anyway?"
"Nothing, listen there is something we need to talk about later and its important".
"Sure" She told him. Ryan smiled and left the house. Jay found it weird since he was off today. She walked down the hall to her room. "Where is it?" She whispered looking for her sweater. She had no luck in her room so she went to Ryans.
"There it is". She spoke noticing it on his desk. When she picked it up while a folder fell to the floor. She picked it up and opened it. "What is this?" She flipped through the pages.
One of the papers showed a house in Reefside. Another showed that her brother accepted a promotion there. "I can't believe this". She slammed the folder back on the desk so hard a part of the desk popped eyes filled with anger and what she saw. Ryan's morpher. He had promised he would give it back to his Father like the rest of them did.
"Jaylynn i'm back!" Ryan called."You home?"
"Oh i'm home alright if this is still my home".
Ryan winced at her tone. "Jay what's wrong?". She slammed the folder down on the table in front of him. "Jay"
"Explain Ryan, what is this?!"
"I was going to tell you tongiht."
"I'm listening". She stated crossing her arms as she glared at him.
He sat down. "Two days ago the department in Reefside reached out saying they were a few men short so i told them i would move there. Jay i bought the house in the has a wonderful school and basketball team".
She wiped her tears. "Ryan my life is here! you know i can't stay here alone not until i am 18. You didn't think to tell me this two days ago!. Ryan what else are you hiding from me because the past week your leaving the house at odd times and not telling me. Ryan why is your morpher here? i found it when i was looking for my sweater".
He looked at her face as it was tearing her apart."After we rebuilt the dock Dad rebuilt a part of the base but Jay it isn't what you-"
"Isn't what? Let me guess he couldn't let his obsession go about the demons!. You all promised me a normal life after all this. No secrets! no lies! I'm not going to Reefside!"
"Yes you are, Jay i am just trying to be your brother here. Jay your school is closed down and Reefside has a great school. Riley is gone since she moved with Chad last summer"
She scoffed."Being my brother, ha thats funny you have only been my brother for four years Ryan".
"Yeah and you used be a caring little sister back then to, you have changed Jaylynn. Ever since those stupid whales left you spend every day down at an empty body of water."
She slammed her fists down on the table. "Those stupid whales were a huge part of my life even before you came along. You know what I guess if they were stupid then so am I. I'm sorry i am not the sister you wanted or ever will be. I am not moving to Reefside i will find a way to stay here". She made her way to the door. "Ryan i lost two animals i loved so much. I lost Riley when she moved and i guess now i have lost you to"
"Jay if you leave then your a quitter, all i want is the best for you".
"Then i am a quitter". She spoke as she ran out of the front door. Ryan slammed his fist into his wall.
Jaylynn walked slowly down the street sobbing. She came to a stop outisde her favorite cafe. She went and got a coffee and sat down on the bench outside. "Jaylynn?"
"Hi Mister Parker" She greeted the owner as he locked up. "Sorry i can go".
"No honey you can stay here, i remember how often you and Riley would come here, is everything okay dear?"
She wiped her nose. "No i just found out i have to move but i don't want to go. Ryan called me a quitter. My whole life has been here, is it so bad that i want to stay?"
He sat next to her. "No honey is its not wrong. Jaylynn all Ryan wants to do is give you a fresh start. All he wants is to give you a chance to meet new people and new friends but your scared of that aren't you?"
"Yeah i am i guess i never thought of it that way god i am so horrible. Mister Parker i know you and my Dad are good friends did he ever say why he rebuilt a part of the base?"
The older man smiled. "Jaylynn they rebuilt a part of the base because he knew there was a chance you would have to leave Mariner Bay and that if you ever came back you would have a place to stay. Jay its a living space for you and your family".
"Oh god, Ryan must hate me for what i said to him".
"Don't worry honey, now go home and talk to him okay but first come in a get a muffin, there is always some left". She smiled at the older man and walked inside. Seconds later Jaylynn smelled last thing she felt was being thrown backwards into the back wall and a pain in her stomach then everything went black as everything exploded around her.
Back at the house Ryan paced around the kitchen with guilt overtaking him. He pulled out his phone and dialed the number.
"Hi this is Jaylynn you know what to do"
"Jay its Ryan please its been an hour please just call me back". He spoke into her voicemail. "Screw this". He grabbed his sweater and ran out the door. Ryan walked down the street. He jumped as firetrucks raced passed him. He ran to catch up to where they were heading. "No" He whispered as he saw the cafe up in flames.
"Ryan!" Carter yelled. "Ryan you have to go, you can't be here".
"Carter what happened?" Ryan asked with worry. "Carter".
"Ryan, Jay was inside" Carter never got another word out as Ryan shoved him away and ran to the ambulance.
"Abby" He whispered at Dana's partner. "Abby where is she?"
"Ryan Jay is over with the other is with her". Ryan ran across the street, he stopped short at the scene in front of him. His baby sister lying on the ground covered in blood. A huge piece of metal inpaled in her stomach. Her face and leg bleeding heavily.
"Jaylynn!" He knelt next to her. She had IV's in both hands and a tube in her throat. "Alexis is she going to make it?"
"I don't know but we have to get her to the hospital now".
"Please can i go with you?"
"Off course". She told him as he hopped in.
Ryan carefully took her limp hand. "Jay please hold on, you have to know how sorry i am" He pleaded as his tears began to flow. He kissed her hand.
Once they arrived they rushed her inside. Ryan was told to sit and wait. "Ryan!" He turned to Dana. "Ryan what happened?" She begged hugging him.
He hugged Dana tight. "We had a fight and she stormed out. She found out about Reefside. Dana this is all my fault. When i got there the building was on fire.".
Dana led him to the waiting area. "This is not your fault okay, listen to me she is going to make it"
They were told to go to the waiting room as the nurse said she would be in surgery.
"Dana, Ryan". They turned to see their childhood doctor at the door.
" ". Bill Mitchell greeted as he and Carter arrived. "Please is my baby going to be okay?"
The doctor looked down. "Jaylynn suffered internal injuries in the explosion. She has massive blood loss, a collapsed lung. Her knee has been crushed. The cuts on her face will scar."
"No" Carter whispered.
"Look you guys are like family to me. Jaylynn's body has gone through enough trauma that she is in a coma. She is on a ventilator. I want you to prepare yourselves its not good. She is in her own room down the hall"
"I'll leave you three alone". Carter spoke to them. "I need some air there is someone else that should know, i'll be back". They knew who he meant. Tommy.
The three Mitchell's walked into Jay's room. Dana began to sob at the sight of her baby sister. Jay was laying in her bed. He face covered in bandages as well as the tube helping her breathe.
"My baby". Bill choked out as he sat in a chair. "My sweet baby". Bill cupped her cheek. Ryan and Dana sat across from him. "I am going to go home and get us some clothes. Dana come with me i know she has some clothes at your house".
"I'm staying". Ryan spoke sternly. Dana gave him a hug. As they left Ryan kept his eyes on his comatose sister. "Jay i'm so sorry. Please don't leave us" Ryan wrapped an arm around her stomach and laid his head on her shoulder. The only noise in the room was the sound of the monitor.
Reefside...
Carter Grayson pulled up to the driveway of the house Tommy currently lived in. He wiped his eyes and walked up to the door and rang the bell.
"Carter? what are you doing here?" Tommy asked his good friend as he led him inside. "Carter what is it?"
Carter swallowed hard. "Tommy there's been an accident. Jay..Jay she"
"Jay what?"
"Jay's in a coma" He croaked out. He collapsed on the couch. "There was an explosion at the cafe. Tommy they don't think she is going to make it".
Tommy took in the words the other man told him. Jay was a huge part of his life ever since she was a kid and to think this was the end was breaking him. "No, Carter she can't just give up, she can't-" He trailed. "I was coming to see her tomorrow for her birthday".
"Look i know you just took a job here but i'm asking please come to Mariner Bay".
"i will be there in the morning". The two men hugged. Carter left the house and headed back.
Tommy sat on the couch. First Mesogog comes back. Then three out of the four gems he found bonded to three students and now one of the most important people in his life was fighting for her life.
Tommy rubbed his eyes and went down to the lab.
"Dr.O you okay?" Kira asked.
"No, guys i have to leave town for a little while. Something happened to someone i care about very much and i need to be there right now. Look Mariner Bay is not far so if you need anything call me and i will come back".
"What happened?" Conner asked walking over.
"There was an explosion and she got caught in it. They dont think she is going to survive. Listen i will tell you more when i get back okay. Look head home for the night". The teens gave him a sad look and quietly left.
Tommy sighed and went to try ans get some sleep.
