Chapter 16: Three Months Later
Jason and Trini's House, Angel Grove

5:30 pm
Jason pulled up to his house with Tommy in the front seat. Tommy was just released from the rehab center he was at for the last three months. Jason invited him to dinner that night, not knowing who else was going to be there.
Kim and Trini were in the kitchen getting dinner ready when the door opened. Tommy and Jason walked in together. Kim looked surprised.
"Trini, you didn't tell me that Tommy was coming over for dinner!" Kim said.
"Surprise!"
Kim walked over to Tommy, who had a cane with him.
"Hey Kim," Tommy said.
"Hey Tommy," Kim said back.
"Well, how about you two get to know each other again. I'll help Trini in the kitchen," Jason said as he went into the kitchen.
Kim and Tommy went into the guest bedroom and Kim shut the door behind them.
Once they knew they were alone Tommy kissed Kim passionately for a few minutes until Kim broke the kiss.
"You've must've really missed me, handsome," Kim said.
"Oh, I really did," Tommy said.
Then Kim gasped.
"Kim, what's wrong?" Tommy asked.
Kim pushed her sweater back, took Tommy's hand, and placed it on her round belly.
Tommy's look went from confused to amazed quickly.
"Was that...the baby?" Tommy asked.
"Yes it was. It's about the size of a mango and kicking me like crazy. I'm 5 months along by the way." Kim said.
"I see that," Tommy said.
"So, how did that kitchen renovation go?"
"It went well. I have three ovens and an expanded range now as well as stainless steel appliances."
"Score one for the stainless steel appliances."
"I'm a sucker for stainless steel appliances."
"So, what's with the cane anyways? Did you hurt your leg or something?"
Tommy stopped himself. Of course Jason wouldn't tell Kim about him being stabbed by Haley. It would be too risky what with Kim's paranoid schizophrenia and her pregnancy. He wouldn't want Jason or Trini to say anything about that to her. He didn't want to risk losing the baby. It would crush Kim if something would happen to the baby.
"Oh, um, that...I pulled a hamstring sparring with Jason, thus the cane. Nothing to worry about."
"Oh, okay. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 3 pm for an anatomy scan. We can find out what we're having, makes picking out names easier if we know ahead of time. Do you have anything important that you have to be at at 3 pm tomorrow? A bathroom remodel, perhaps?"
"Oh, no, my bathroom is just fine the way it is, I'll be at your appointment tomorrow."
"Oh, and don't be late Oliver. We all know about your tardiness genes, you know."
"I'll be on time, promise." Tommy said as he gave Kim a kiss. Then Trini yelled that supper was ready. Kim and Tommy headed out of the bedroom and to the dining room.
