Gate episode 4

As we loaded back up into the Jeeps I decided to head inside the jeep instead of sleeping on top of it this time. As I did the elf lady finally woke up with a shock.

Kurokawa smiled at the elf and said, "good morning."

Itami seemed to notice too and went, "oh well, well rise and shine! We're almost to camp."

Itami then looked at me and said, "oh by the way High Inquisitor I got confirmation that a proper barracks has been set up specially for you and your tech."

Smiling I said, "good and I assume dark legion held their end of the bargain and sent over the tanks and aircrafts you requested?"

Itami nodded and said, "we're getting a full landing strip developed as we speak thanks to your engineers!"

Smirking I said, "splendid!"

The Lolita looked at me with a smile and said, "so this is your base of operation High Inquisitor?"

I nodded and said, "yep…home sweet home" before noticing the acting commander standing outside the main office.

"Oi Itami seems you'll have to talk to the chief about this one" I chuckled.

Itami sighed and said, "very well, but you're in charge of helping the troops learn the language."

Sighing I said, "fair trade I guess…oh wait I already did that" before smugly showing Itami my phone showing that I had been having Argus write a full guide for the language and dark legion had already had it printed out and sent to the base.

Smugly I said, "guess that means I am free for now" before getting out of the jeep and saying, "this is where we part ways for now Itami I'll head back to my barracks and get everything set up and then I'll rendezvous with you guys at the space you guys have set up for refugees okay?"

Itami flipped me off and said, "damn you!" before departing as well.

As I left the Lolita followed me from a distance, so I was on guard till I reached my barracks.

I smiled at the familiar gothic sci fi architecture that dark legion bases were known for. The place was its own base with two stories with the second story smaller than the first so to give the building a patio of its own with radar and radio equipment on top of the second floor. Honestly the entire base looked like notre dame but sci fi.

"ahhh so this is where you sleep~ such a marvelous place worthy of a death god!" the Lolita called out.

I looked back at her and said, "okay lady look I know you want to get to know me better but…you know what just wait out here I'll be back in a bit."

The lady nodded slamming her axe into the ground and leaning on it while I went inside the base and made my way through it till, I found a room labeled "armory" and when I went inside there was a pod waiting for me.

Walking over to it a voice asked for clearance and I pulled the cross off around my neck and muttered, "requiem" and the cross melted and formed into a badge depicting the sigil of dark legion a red shield with a white triangle facing down with a black cobra with a dagger in its mouth.

I then placed the sigil in front of the pod and the whole thing opened saying, "welcome high inquisitor" and I started to put away my armor into the pod.

"Argus I know you're there, reveal yourself" I shouted.

A hologram projection of Argus then appeared and said, "how can I assist sir?"

"Have the armor calibrate to my position if I am ever caught without it" I said as I put the final pieces of the armor away.

Argus nodded and once the armor was put away. I walked over to a closet and picked out my military "casual wear" which basically looked like the JSDF uniform for the special region but in black camo but with the addition of a long shoulder cape made of black Kevlar and a plasma pistol which I hid.

Walking out of the base I was met with the Lolita who looked at me and whistled and said, "my word such an elegant attire~ so where are we heading now?"

Sighing I said, "wherever they're setting up the refugee camp I guess" before walking with the Lolita in silence.

I knew I could hide it while I had my helmet on but the Lolita…she was getting really close to me and the smell of lavender and nightshade was truly the perfect parring that it made me blush a bit. Soon however I saw the base camp for the refugees and saw the 3rd recon setting up tents and I rushed over to help them set things up.

We had chicken and rice that night for dinner and Itami looked at me and said, "so that's the attire for a dark legion high inquisitor aye?"

I nodded and said, "I know and I hate it the cape is a little too much for me but I thought id give it a go since its my first time actually wearing it and all"

Itami laughed and said, "man it does look weird but other than that it looks pretty good on you!"

I smiled at his remark and said, "i guess so, OH so how did that talk with command go?"

Itami handed me a report and said, "according to the news loads of private military companies aren't to happy that the only PMC allowed inside the gate is Dark Legion private enforcement, and it looks like your competitor Desperado from Spain and Titan cooperation in America are trying to undermine you in other countries to make you seem weak and that Japan should use one of them instead"

Laughing I said, "hahaha they may have the edge on us in numbers or funding but when it comes to sheer tech and results nothing beats Dark Legion Private enforcement."

This seemed to make the girl with cyan hair fascinated as she spoke perfect English (or Japanese depend on whether you watch sub or dub), "excuse me you two, can I ask you a couple questions."

This raised my eyebrow as I said, "I thought your people couldn't speak English…but yeah sure whats up?"

The lady said, "well I tend to listen to people, and I learned how to speak your language by observation but anyways I'd like to ask you…what is a private enforcement?"

Scratching my chin I said, "think of it like an assassin guild, you can hire just one member for a particular mission, or you can hire out the entire group and their equipment and pay for as long as you require their services."

The lady looked fascinated and said, "and I assume these men hired you High inquisitor?"

I nodded and said, "dark legion private enforcement has always been Japan's go to for military enhancement, I came along as a vanguard and extra muscle just in case."

The lady took out a journal and noted this down before returning to eating.

The next day we did introduction starting with the old man carrying a strange staff with an orange crystal and the lady with cyan hair.

The man said, "I am what you call a wizard, Cato El Altestan, and this here is my student."

The lady introduced herself saying, "Lelei la Lalena."

Next up was the Lolita, who walked up and said, "you may call me Rory Mercury, an apostle of the dark lord emroy" before looking at me with a seductive smile.

Next was the elf, who looked a little fidgety as she said, "I am Hodor's daughter Tuka Luna Marceau from Kowan."

I watched as Itami started to try and speak the language to no avail and with a sigh I got in front of him and said, "okay today we'll be getting housing ready for all of you to live, keep in mind you are not prisoners here your free to leave when you see fit or if new housing is available elsewhere outside, for those of you who don't know I am High inquisitor Jango Itami from dark legion private enforcement, I am here to help the JSDF however I can, and in charge of the refugee operation is my brother First Lieutenant Yoji Itami, if you have any questions come to either of us"

Smiling Rory looked at me and said, "I have a question for you High Inquisitor."

I looked at Rory and said, "what's up"

Looking at me seductively she said, "how does one get under your command~" causing me to blush.

"s-sorry at the moment I am not taking applications for any new legionnaires to join my fireteam besides I work alone" I stuttered.

Rory walked up to me and said, "aww what a shame I'm sure a death bringer like yourself could always use a second in command" before purring in my ear.

This caused me to blush even more as I walked away and said, "Itami they're all yours if you need me I am going to take the coldest of showers"

Rory followed me saying, "oooh let me warm you up" causing me to run with Rory in tow.

Soon though I managed to give Rory the slip and watched as she walked over to where the JSDF had made lunch and watched as the wizard hyped over the food and watched as the cyan haired girl did the traditional Japanese prayer. With a chuckle I soon got a call from Doctor Miandi hailing for a call.

"Go ahead command what do you have for me?" I said pulling out a data pad.

Doctor Miandi chuckled and said, "ahh High Inquisitor, I am sure you are aware of the recent news with our competitors?"

Bringing it up on the data pad I said, "you mean the attempts by Desperado to sneak in armed soldiers through the gate disguised as JSDF personnel? Or are you talking about how the current U.S president is trying to restrict dark legion operations and cut funding to our U.S bases in an attempt to get us to allow them through the gate too? Or could you be talking about how the Russian republic has threatened to nuke our Ukranian operation base unless we tell them what's going on in the special region?"

Doctor Miandi sighed and said, "…all of it yes."

I chuckled and said, "I have had very few opportunities so far to do light reading, I am sure my latest report about the dober cannon's performance against a flame dragon has caught your attention? Along with a sample of its scales I had brought back."

Doctor Miandi nodded and said, "yes the report has been interesting, but the JSDF is also breathing down our neck and there is bound to be a news conference about this and the fact civilians were killed in that flame dragon attack, I want you to be on call for it got it?"

Nodding I said, "ten four Doctor, High Inquisitor out" before turning off the data pad.

Smelling my armpits I winced and said, "yeah no I need to take a bath" before leaping off the building and walking over to the bath house to see my brother there.

As I got ready to get into the bath, I looked at my scars, each one a memory of a battle, each one hiding a robotic organ or replacement organ that I lost in combat.

Itami chuckled and said, "hey bro".

Nodding at him I got into the bath and started to clean myself up and said, "so how are you liking this world?"

Looking outside I chuckled and said, "the air is crips, the cold pure and the sun may be baring down on us, but the heat is no unbearable its refreshing like the weather of Scotland."

Itami chuckled and said, "so it was like this back there too?"

I nodded remembering how I used to be stationed in the dark legion's Scottish Highlands as Personal security to the Scottish prime minister, it was the easiest job especially after the hell I endured in my younger days, then when I was reassigned to Japan to help the JSDF I missed Scotland and her people.

The days would drag on and I got curious about the Wyverns whose bodies weren't decaying because of their scales.

I approached Rory and said, "hey mind if I ask you something."

Rory leaned forward seductively and said, "anything for you handsome what's up?"

Pointing over to those wyvern scales I said, "has anyone tried to make those into armor before?"

Rory nodded and said, "it is very hard to move in and very unorthodox but yes Wyvern scales have been used for armor before."

This gave me ideas and I dragged one of the Wyverns back to base while I watched Rory, Tuka and Lelei walk calmly over to the same area I was coming back from.

It seemed we both had similar ideas about the wyverns as I had this one taken back through the gate to our world so dark legion personnel can take a look at it and replicate the scales for standard issue armor.

Itami approached me a little while after and said, "High Inquisitor we're gonna be moving out in a bit and I want you to join us again."

Raising my eyebrow I said, "where we heading this time Lieutenant?"

Itami showed me on the map and said, "a bigger city, according to the refugees this town is called Italica and is a major trade town we'll be heading there to do a bit of trading."

Looking at the map I said, "we trading our goods for theirs?"

Itami shook his head and said, "no we'll be trading the wyvern scales for influence and to let people know Alnis hill is a safe place to do trade, that way we can open up more commerce and do more cultural exchange with the locals."

Smirking I said, "I'll be ready in 10 minutes"

Itami saluted me and said, "sir yes sir!" before rushing off.

I bolted to the base to ready my armor putting in new clips into my smgs and dober cannon and sharpening my blades for the occasion. Once ready I rushed over to the jeeps to see Itami the 3rd recon team along with Tuka, Lelei, and Rory who blew a kiss towards me.

Blushing heavily under my armor I nodded at Rory and said, "we ready to head out?"

Kurokawa saluted me and said, "yes High Inquisitor all set!"

Loading up into the jeep I hit the top and said, "lets rock and roll then!"

Itami grinned at my enthusiasm and said, "got it lets hit the road!" before Kurata started up the jeep and driving off towards Itallica.
