Even through her headphones, Kitty heard a gentle knock on the door, probably Ororo. She wasn't in the mood to unlock it.
"I should be the one you come to. I'm your girlfriend. I should be the one!"
"You are!"
"Well, hello?! I'm not! She is!"
It was their first fight. Of course it had to be about his ex. MJ.
"I'm not the only person in the world you talk to. You have all your friends in the X-Men."
"It's different."

"You're in love with her!"

Kitty buried her head in her pillow and upped the volume on her earbuds, desperate to tune his voice out of her head.
