For all of Brittany's exhaustion recently, it didn't stop the blonde from immediately climbing into Santana's lap that night and pulling her into a searing kiss.
Santana easily got carried away with it, groping Brittany's ass roughly and realizing with satisfaction that the blonde was wearing no panties or anything else other than Santana's old white t-shirt that she frequently pulled on to wear to bed.
"Mm, yes. No panties? Cheeky. I like that."
Santana felt the blonde's lips curve upward against her fuller ones as Brittany said nothing but grabbed Santana's hand, encouraging her to slip it under the t-shirt and touch her.
The Latina skimmed her hand over silky soft, pale skin, enjoying the feel of the curves of her body and stroking Brittany's tiny stomach that was a little softer than normal then caressing her hip bones. Santana froze and Brittany was confused.
"What's wrong, Baby?"
"Britt… are you sure we should do this?"
"Oh don't worry, the kitten's in bed. I just checked on him. He won't hear us."
"No, I mean," Santana sat up panting, keeping her arms wrapped around Brittany's waist as the blonde didn't move from her position straddling her lover's lap. She could feel that familiar heat and pressure building but she wanted to make sure sure wasn't going to hurt her. "Of course I want you but is it safe with the baby?"
"Is that what you're so worried about? It's totally safe," Brittany leaned down to kiss her neck and nip her ear, "I checked it out with the doctor and everything, I even read like a million internet articles just to make sure but it's cute that you're so protective of us. Let's make love. I can't resist you."
Santana was struggling to think of anything coherently when Brittany was alternating between kissing and sucking on the sensitive skin of her neck and her skillful, wandering hands were doing all kinds of things to the Latina that she couldn't quite figure out. She was again conscious of the throbbing heat between her legs.
"Okay. If you're sure. I'll be gentle."
"Maybe I don't want you to be so gentle." Brittany hummed against her ear with a sultry little laugh and Santana closed her eyes, overcome with arousal at how bold the blonde was being.
She didn't know quite how it happened but Brittany's shirt was off in a flash along with any clothes Santana was previously wearing and then she was on top of her, slipping into wet heat as Brittany whimpered encouragingly, tangling her hands into her rich, dark hair.
Brittany held her in her arms, both of them breathless and sated hours later. Santana turned to lie on her side and spooned her lover, slipping her arms around her waist.
She loved how instinctual it felt to hold her lover protectively like this without any barriers between them, stroking the skin of her belly and thinking about their growing baby.
She was still scared of not being a good enough mom but at least they had a little more time to adjust to everything before Kitten Number Two arrived.
She swept Brittany's soft hair to the side, kissing the perfect skin on the back of her neck.
"You're so gorgeous. I'll always protect you and our babies."
"Mm, I know you will, Baby." Brittany sighed happily, both of them drifting off.
Santana wasn't expecting it when a certain heavy, grey feline jumped onto the bed and woke her up. Where did he even come from? Lord Tubbington kept nudging Brittany and headbutting her as she giggled, then he lay beside her belly, pressing himself against her as she wrapped an arm around him.
"What's he up to?" Santana asked suspiciously. "We just fed him an hour ago."
"He knows he's getting another little brother. He knew when I was pregnant with Val too. He's my other little protector."
While she'd never been the biggest fan of the oversized cat, Santana had to admit it was sweet watching Brittany stroke Lord Tubbington's back as he purred and rubbed his head against her stomach, curling up against her.
Of course, it only took Whitney Pierce a fraction of a second to find out about Brittany's condition.
The couple took Valentino over to spend the day at the Pierces. It was still relatively sunny and warm enough for Valentino to play in the backyard pool, which he was thrilled about. Santana went in with him, just to make sure he was safe.
Brittany admired the view as her girlfriend stripped out of her clothes to reveal her black bikini and laughed, when she caught the blonde staring at her, mesmerized by her tight body and bronzed skin. It was adorable watching her playing with their son and holding him up in the water as he squealed.
After a while, Brittany followed her mother into the quaint little kitchen to help her get lunch started. Santana gave Brittany a look and the blonde knew her girlfriend was thinking about following them inside. Brittany rolled her eyes at those smug little glances her mother was giving her again without saying anything.
"Someone's really protective of you these days," Whitney noted, helping Brittany fry burgers on the stove as her daughter stole a cocktail shrimp and nibbled on it. "It's adorable."
"I'm so glad you're making these. I've been craving burgers all day… and shrimp."
"Of course you are," Whitney giggled. "Let me guess, breadsticks too?"
"God, yeah."
"Go ahead and take this drink for your father. He's on the couch watching the game. There's wine for Lopez if she wants but none for you of course, since you're pregnant with our second grandbaby."
Brittany's eyes went big and she nearly dropped the prawn she was holding.
"Mom, how did you know?"
"I just did," She shrugged with a smirk. "A mother always knows. I just knew one of Lopez's X's changed to a Y again. Besides, you were acting almost exactly like I was when I was pregnant with you, minus the breadsticks thing. It's a Pierce woman thing."
"You knew all this time whenever I told you I was exhausted or craving shrimp and you didn't say a word? Mom!" Brittany laughed. She didn't know what else she expected from her mother.
"I just thought I wouldn't interfere and allow you two to figure that one out for yourselves," Whitney shrugged, then threw her arms around her daughter. "Oh congrats, Honey! I'm so happy for you! Your father is going to be thrilled too and let's hope he actually remembers this time. We'd love to have another little grand baby around the house."
"Thanks, Mom!" Brittany hugged her back tightly. "I've got to find a funny way to tell Stacy she's going to be an auntie again."
"She won't be surprised at all, I bet."
Brittany was in the middle of demonstrating some choreo to her class that fall when she felt someone's intense eyes on her and she knew instinctively that her girlfriend was there, even before she saw her.
Santana had let herself into the studio and was standing off to the corner, with her arms around Valentino who grinned and waved to her. She waved back at them, winking.
The blonde brightened up at the thought of her family watching her move. Much like their son, Santana had always loved Brittany's dancing, whether it was when she was on a stage or teaching her classes or even when the two of them were slow dancing alone in their bedroom to no music at all, but this time there was a look of concern in her dark brown eyes.
Santana was so protective of her, just like the blonde knew she would be. She had always looked after her but knowing Brittany was pregnant set her girlfriend's protective side into overdrive.
The class had been ending when Santana came by to pick her up so it wasn't long before the group began filing out of the room, thanking their teacher and making casual jokes with her. Santana rolled her eyes, not in the mood for chit chatting with those losers.
The family were finally alone and Brittany twirled around, dancing playfully for a moment. Then the world began to spin around her and she felt herself losing balance.
Valentino was off in the corner, playing with some toys Brittany kept for him there but Santana instantly noticed the change in Brittany and rushed in to protect her.
"Whoa, Britt! Let me help you." Santana was at her side in an instant, slipping an arm around her waist and Brittany was grateful for the support.
She eventually sat on the floor, helping Brittany slide down to sit on her lap when she was still feeling so woozy and stroking her long blonde hair. Valentino shouted to her, upset about seeing his mother in such a state.
"Mommy! Are you hurt?!"
"No, Sweetie, Mommy's okay. I just slipped. Sorry, I didn't mean to be so clumsy and scare you two. I just felt so dizzy all of a sudden," Brittany explained. She felt tears come to her eyes and sobbed quietly when she turned to her girlfriend. "I can't even dance properly. I can't do anything right now."
Santana was startled as her girlfriend began to cry a little when her emotions bubbled over. Brittany was always on an emotional rollercoaster these days so they were both accustomed to it but it never failed to make Santana's heart ache when she saw the blonde weeping.
"Oh Britt, you know that's not true. You're incredible. Don't cry. Please don't cry," Santana hummed to her softly, kissing her cheek as she wiped away a tear with the pad of her thumb. Brittany hid her face in the crook of Santana's neck, trying not to make it obvious to their son that she was crying. "It was just a little slip. Don't be so hard on yourself. Your body's just going through some changes right now and it's not like you can help that. It's normal, Britt."
They noticed Valentino looking over at them curiously and Santana made sure to lower her voice, whispering into Brittany's ear. They hadn't exactly told Valentino he was going to be a big brother as yet and were still nervous about how he was going to react.
"I'm sorry for crying again." She sniffled.
"I know, it's totally okay, Babe. Are you sure you want to continue with classes? I know how much you love dancing but I just don't want you or the baby to get hurt."
"Maybe you're right," Brittany sighed, rubbing her still mostly flat stomach gently as she rested her head against Santana's shoulder. "Maybe it's better if I just dance at home for you instead."
Santana noticed the way Brittany's brow was furrowed just a little, a confused look in her light blue eyes as if she was trying to figure out what would happen if she quit her part time classes.
She knew the blonde always tried so hard to be a perfect dancer and a good teacher for her students but she was pushing herself too hard even though she wasn't quite herself lately. All of the pressure of that and trying to be a good mom for their six year-old were clearly getting to her.
"That's right. We'd love that. Don't worry about your classes for now, Britt. In fact, you don't have to work ever again unless you want to. You know I make more than enough and I can take care of everything for us, financially. I love taking care of you and our family."
"Oh Santana," Brittany leaned in to brush her lips against hers, closing her eyes and Santana eagerly reciprocated the soft kiss. It wasn't as if she made a lot from her classes she did every other week and Santana was more or less paying for everything else at this point. They were both happy with that arrangement. "I'd love that."
"That settles it then," Santana smiled sweetly, gently helping her up. "I want you to get lots of rest and let me handle everything else, okay?"
Valentino ran over to hug his mommy, his arms encircling her waist.
"Hi, Baby Boy," She sighed, loving the feeling of his soft skin and warm little body colliding with hers. "Mami, can we get fast food? I really need something with fries and a chocolate shake."
"Yeah, Mami, can we?" Valentino's eyes lit up as he pleaded with the dark-haired woman as well. Santana laughed, unable to resist both of their cute pouts.
"Of course."
"But first, I really have to pee again… for the millionth time today."
The two of them giggled at the tall blonde's goofy face as she wandered off then realized she was going the wrong way and came back around again. It was so typical of Brittany.
Brittany lay in bed with Santana for the longest time, resting her head against her chest as Santana ran her fingers through her long, ever so soft blonde hair.
They didn't get up to much other than making out, knowing that their son was nearby, but Brittany was already craving more when Santana sucked lightly on her lower lip, then began to nip her neck, surely leaving another yet mark.
"You know, I saw you around town with Val, before we met up again. I was so scared that you had moved on, maybe got married and had a family. I won't lie, it broke my heart to even think that you had that with someone else. Not that I could blame you if you did."
Brittany chuckled softly, shaking her head as she trailed her fingertips over Santana's jawline, her light blue eyes meeting dark, slightly fearful ones.
"Oh I knew he was yours right away. You were the only one I was… intimate with from the moment we met."
"Me too," Santana admitted softly, relieved. "I mean… there was no one else I wanted."
"You know, when we were together… all of those times when we slept together… it was just magical and I just knew he would only be yours anyway. Back then… I wanted to tell you I loved you." Brittany admitted softly, feeling a blush rise to her cheeks.
Santana was shocked, blinking rapidly as she took this in.
"You… You loved me, Brittany? Back then even?"
"Of course I did. Is that so hard to believe?"
"Yeah," Santana chuckled mirthlessly, "I never thought an angel like you could love me. I'm such a bad person and you're so beautiful and innocent. You're everything good in this miserable world."
"Are you kidding? Don't be silly, Santana. You're amazing. I always loved you and I wanted your babies. Way before I got pregnant even. I just didn't want to scare you away by admitting that. I was kind of scared to admit it out loud, even to myself."
Santana laughed happily, pulling Brittany into a deep kiss that left both of them breathless.
"That's so beautiful, Britt. I can't believe I was such an idiot. I'm sorry. The thought of you being all alone and pregnant back then… I just wish I knew. I wish I had been there with you, holding you. I should have been there kissing your baby bump, making you feel special the way you deserve."
"Santana, that's in the past, okay? We can make up for it now," Brittany smiled against her pouty lips then continued in a hushed, seductive voice, leaning close to Santana's ear. "Our babies are so beautiful and you know what… I love making them with you. Wanna practice again?"
Santana shivered visibly and Brittany smirked at the effect she clearly had on her. The darker woman pushed her down by the shoulders, rolling on top of her.
"I love being their mom," Santana admitted in a small voice, staring into Brittany's eyes. "I know I can't make up for all of the time I lost but I already love him and I'd love to raise our family with you forever like we are now, if that's what you want."
"I do want that. There's nothing I'd want more than that."
Santana froze, suddenly imagining what it would be like if she was actually married to Brittany. She suddenly had all of these visions of what it would be like to see the blonde in a white dress and slip a ring on her finger.
She tried to chase those thoughts away, not even knowing how to bring up that subject with Brittany and feeling like such a sentimental fool. Brittany noticed how quiet Santana was being and was about to ask her what was wrong. Then of course, they were interrupted by a little voice.
"Mommy! What are you doing?!"
"Oops I think we have a little spy. Did you hear all that, Pumpkin?" Brittany giggled, picking him up when he ran up to their bed and hugging him tightly. He looked at his mami and pouted, reaching for her. "Aw, he wants you to hug him too."
Santana smiled and joined the group hug.
"Mommy, how do you make babies?" Val piped up in an innocent voice and Brittany laughed when she saw the look on Santana's face as her black eyes went wide in alarm. It was obvious that even after being around Valentino for so long now, Santana was still getting used to kids and how blunt they could be.
Meanwhile, Valentino was so confused about the way his moms fell silent and the funny looks they were giving each other.
"Alright, how much of our conversation did you overhear exactly, Mister?" The blonde asked teasingly, in between giggles, poking him in the nose. "Sweetie, the stork brings Mommy a baby, okay? That's how I got you. Aw, look, smiles and dimples on both of you."
Both Santana and Val were grinning at her so cutely with almost identical expressions and Brittany melted at the sight of them.
"Mami!" He giggled when Santana started to tickle his sides.
Valentino just knew his moms were hiding something from him. He knew it because of how they'd have these really quiet talks where they whispered to each other and then stopped talking when they heard him come into the room or changed the subject really fast.
All of a sudden, Mami was acting really nervous around Mommy and even told him not to play rough with her anymore. Mommy was always sleepy and dizzy too. It was pretty weird.
"Mommy, what's the secret you won't tell me?" He whined, jumping on the blonde and wrapping his arms around her neck. "You guys are hiding something and I know it! Are you gonna give me away and not be my moms anymore?!"
"Of course not! We would cry forever if we ever lost our baby kitten," Brittany covered his face in kisses, rubbing his back as she looked over at Santana, silently communicating with her that it was time for them to have this talk with him as the other woman swallowed nervously. "You'll always be our baby boy. Actually, there is something we want to tell you, Sweetheart but it's not bad, I promise."
That was the moment when Val found out the stork had paid Mommy another visit… He was officially going to be a big brother. Valentino stared at them in shock. He didn't know how he felt about this.
